I'm pretty sure her grandmother is Odyssey Pauline. Donkey Kong '94 confirms that Lady is Pauline and Jumpman is Mario. If Bananza Pauline were a younger version of Odyssey Pauline then main character of Donkey Kong '81 couldn't be Mario. These same devs also confirmed in a previous interview that Jumpman is Mario.

I personally think that Bananza isn't a prequel to Odyssey but a sequel. New Donk City looks way more modern compared to the one from Odyssey and I think that was intentional. If they just wanted to hit the nosalgia of the players, they would've made it look the same as Odyssey.

Think about how amazing it would be if they somehow made it work in 3D with the virtual boy peripheral.

Tip to save money this gen: buy used and don't buy DLC. I did that a lot in the Switch 1 generation, and I'll do it again here.

I got DKB for $60 CAD on kijiji and I won't be buying any DLC. So that's $60 instead of $146.87. I've already moved on to another game.

I never bought DLC for Splatoon 3, FE3H, Luigi's Mansion 3, ACNH, or any other Switch 1 game and I won't do it here either. Save your money to buy more games.

I believe if you were a physical collector at launch then your only options were Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077, and the new Rune Factory. Made it really easy for us.

I couldn't undo 8 years of playing Odyssey. I had to switch A and B.

There isn't really a physical version of this on any system. Xbox and PS5 both require full downloads and the Switch 2 version will obviously be a key card. It's one of the few games I played on gamepass.

New Donk City in Bananza is way more modern looking than the 1930's one in Odyssey. It's for that reason that I think Bananza takes place after Odyssey. Bananza Pauline mentions her grandma a lot so I think that's significant.

Mario Kart World has one of the greatest OSTs of all time and I hope every monday that it'll be added to the app.

Mario Kart World is amazing. I'm 60 hours into it and I feel like I've barely scratched its surface. I don't want to burn out on it though. I would like to keep it in the rotation for the next 8 years

It's an incredible console - I think the comparison to NES/SNES is appropriate.

Table-top mode in particular is amazing now with the larger screen, versatile kickstand, and mouse mode.

I assume you think corporations are evil because they all value numbers over people. But even for Japanese standards, Nintendo has a very high level of employee retention.

Layoffs are an easy way to increase profits in the short term. Microsoft execs are incentivized for short-term gains because their shareholders want to see the line go up every quarter. They care about the current market value of the stock, not the dividends.

Conversely, Nintendo execs seem to have more of a long-term perspective. They are clearly investing in their staff (positive work environment and benefits) if they have a 98.8% employee retention rate. For a huge entertainment company, they are absolutely an outlier.

I just wanted to say that amid all these layoffs from all these studios, Nintendo is expanding their studios and hiring.

There is a lot of online negativity towards Nintendo right now but I think its unjustified.

I bought this day 1 and was very disappointed to find out you can't remap the buttons on a system level. That makes it's use limited to only certain games.

The more I play this game the more I love it.

It's not because they're overpriced old games. Nintendo fans will buy overpriced old games. It's because they are key cards and not cartridges. Cyberpunk is several years old and not a typical Nintendo-like game. Nintendo fans love their physical collections and third parties are going to find that out fast.

My only issue is the new voice actors but that has nothing to do with the development team themselves. 10/10

An OLED screen would've bumped the price of the console up even more. I think the price point of the console is really important for a launch.

These were recently in Canada. I walked into a McDonalds one day to get some of these for my kids and they were all gone.

This list contradicts previously established lore. In Mario Superstar Baseball for the Nintendo Gamecube, Waluigi and Daisy have a chemistry stat of 15/100. She only hates Bowser and Petey Piranha more. Mario and Wario have a chemistry stat of 10/100 which is worse than Mario and Bowser! (15/100).

If it's not on the cartridge, I'm not buying it. Real simple.

@Carck You are correct. Also if we're talking abut USA/Canada specifically then wages have actually increased.

But remember Nintendo didn't do any mass layoffs like all the other companies in the industry in 2023. And remember Nintendo's average salary is the second highest in western japan. They are a company that values retaining their employees for a long time. And they are expanding right now.

Maybe don't compare the adjusted prices to the NES days because people's eyes just gloss over and they make silly responses like the first few above. But just compare the adjusted prices to 2017 (when the Switch 1 launched) and I think we can all see a problem that Nintendo and all the other companies in the industry have right now.

Nintendo is giving you a discount on the $70 games. Mario Kart is the only one priced properly.

This will particularly be good for specialty controllers. I could see myself using the official GCN controller for a wide variety of modern platformers but I would probably have to tweak the button mapping for each game.

I added it to my list of Switch 2 games to get (which is now at 34 titles).

I went through the entire 8 years of Switch 1 refusing to pay more than $60 CAD for Nintendo games. I'll do the same for Switch 2.

As a physical collector, I'm a little worried about cartridge size. Right now the Xbox is the version to get because it has two discs for the dlc where the PS5 version has a download.
