Re: Sakurai Understands There Are Too Many Fire Emblem Reps In Smash, Says It's Time To "Move On"

AugustusOxy

Had a girlfriend cheat on me and during an argument we had after the fact, I remember she distinctively said "Its happened, its over, lets move on".

Its a tactic that people with guilty conciousses do to avoid scrutiny from the people that they wronged. He's literally telling people to stop complaining cuz its already happened. Imagine if everyone had that attitude about the sonic design? Get bent Sakurai. You passive aggressive turd. You should go work for the writers of Teen Titans Go, you'd fit right in.

I do temp work for a company, that I won't name. We are like any other company, we have a good eggs, our bad eggs, ect. One time one of our bad eggs got butthurt as all get out for being fired for being a bad egg. He then went on a 'tour' around to all of our clients and businesses we deal with 'telling our secrets' and talking about how 'horrible we treat our employees' ect. They all, being middle aged working class men, laughed his pants out the door. Its fun how the real world works vs this rubbish.

I really don't care about fortnite, but at the same time I don't see it as this horrible evil thing that cynical adults think should die. Its as if they forget when they were kids and their parents were saying the same crap about pokemon.

Fortnite must be fun or people wouldn't be playing it, it may not be for me but then again I have oddball tastes.

Re: Nintendo's Upcoming Switch Online NES Titles Include Donkey Kong Jr., VS. Excitebike And Clu Clu Land

AugustusOxy

INB4 "Sony and Microsoft have better online services"

In some ways, yes, but you also pay more, which makes it allt he more frustrating when something goes wrong. Particularly love that your PS4 can be ruined by a message you get from a random stranger, reaaaaaaaaaaaal secure online services right there.

Its twenty bucks a year and you get to play your nintendo games online and you get free NES games that you'd complain about not having if you didn't get them. Get over yourselves.

Re: Nintendo's Upcoming Switch Online NES Titles Include Donkey Kong Jr., VS. Excitebike And Clu Clu Land

AugustusOxy

It'll never cease to amaze me how entitled people are.

A: You're paying to play Nintendo games online. The NES games are extras.

B: You paid 300 bucks to play some of these games on an SNES classic... you sound like cry babies complaining that you're getting them for less than a penny a day as a service as an added bonus to online play.

C: The SNES stuff was just a datamine, like a lot of things, it may or may not come into fruition and there is a good chance you'll have to pay extra for it. Understand that if it isn't a first party nintendo game and EVEN in some cases if it is a first party nintendo game, someone has to get money for the game's re-release a lot of times. So if its a konami game, konami gets a cut. For SNES games, that cut is going to be bigger.

D: The same people b******* about this online service are the one's begging for a virtual console where you can pay up to ONE FOURTH THE PRICE of a FULL YEAR of nintendo online service for just one of these games... jesus you people, how do you even tie your shoes in the morning?

E: You're literally paying 20 bucks a year for an online service, or you can pay twice that and get online service for you and 7 of your friends. Your complains, your crying, your whining is so petty it literally gives me a headache everytime I read it.

F: But no native voice chat-- use discord like %99 of civilized society. My god.

Re: Could Switch's Non-Compliant USB-C Spec Be To Blame For Third-Party Docks Bricking Consoles?

AugustusOxy

I still feel my theory holds water.

I think it has nothing to do with compliance and more to do with patching up possible hardware exploitation, like the guys who were able the joycon hardware to hack the switch.

Nintendo realizes that on the software side of things, anything short of just straight up bricking your system isn't going to work for detouring any body from possibly using some kind of USB c modded device to attempt to mod the switch.

I feel like this is a future proofing thing they did to prevent hackers from exploing the USB C port on the switch and it probably has some built in software that detects if a non-nintendo charger is attempting to access the system and it bricks it to prevent any one from getting access to anything that might allow them to run custom firmware and the like on the system.

Considering that the updates for the switch were all oriented around protecting the system from hacking... I think this is about the best theory I can come up with.

Its actually sort of nice to see them care enough to prevent the system from being hacked.

Re: Nintendo Wants To Make Greater Use Of Downloadable Content In The Future

AugustusOxy

When DLC first came onto the scene all those years ago, it was basically in the form of partial game expansions. So many companies saw that a PC game had a loyal following and wanted to get content to them faster instead of making them wait years for an expansion.

The fundamental concept of DLC was great, more of a game you love. It would introduce extra hours of gameplay, challenges, and even sometimes whole new gameplay modes.

But then greed had to ruin it, on disc dlc, aesthetic dlc, loot boxes, ect ect. The concept is tarnished completely. People compare amiibo to dlc without realizing that Amiibo are things you actually own and can resell, infinitely better.

But so far Nintendo has been mostly good with their DLC so lets hope that continues.

Re: Reggie on GameCube Controller Support on the Switch

AugustusOxy

I call bologna. hardware interacting with software in an update like this is not something that happens by accident. No one accidentally programs a system's firmware to magically be compatible with a previous system's hardware. I think he's playing coy. They might have plans, they might not. Pretending like it was an accident is a good way to draw people's attention to it.

This would be like me making a bunch of fumbling sounds in the kitchen while baking a cake, then after its frosted and decorated, when my significant other enters the room I shout "I have no idea how this happened, was straightening up the kitchen and bam, a cake appeared. I'm as surprised as you!"

Re: Talking Point: Capcom, the Nintendo Switch and Gaming Business Realities

AugustusOxy

I've said it before and I'll say it again; this is not capcom jumping ship. This is fans jumping to conclusions without any real evidence of what is going on.

Monster Hunter Tri released, not too long after they made a PSP game. MH3U comes out along side the MMOs which were on other systems. MH4U and Generations, both releasing around the same time as expansions come out for the MMOs.

Monster Hunter mainline games will probably stick to nintendo systems. The Japanese fans like portability, look at the lines for Switches in Japan. NO one lined up like that for PS4s. In Japan, the concept of a console is antiquated and restrictive, they like the PS4, but the Vita is still doing great over there.

So what does this mean? Well for Starters, despite what capcom is saying, World is hardly a mainline game. Its classic capcom nonsense in which they try to reboot a franchise every so many years by drastically changing it in some cheesy attempt to appeal to casuals or Western audiences. They did this with DMC, they did it with Resident Evil and even did it with SF5.

"But they said that this is Basically MH5" then frackin call it MH5... exactly, they wont. This way if the game tanks (and it probably will) they can say "well it was an experiment" then pat themselves on the back when they release a more mainline MH game.

So far the only people I know that are truly excited for this NEXT GEN MONSTER HUNTER GAME are casuals. It looks like they've sacrificed way to many of the core elements of the game and the end result will be some kind of weird hybrid that doesn't appeal to the new fans they are trying to garner and just alienates the old fans. COUGH DMC COUGH

Plus the visuals look like a PS3 game for christ sakes...

I wouldn't even get this game if it DID come to the Switch. I'd so buy a mainline MH game on ANY handheld system, even the Vita. But this silly looking mess is just not looking like my kind of MH gamer and I'm a MH veteran since generation 1.

Re: Gallery: Fan Concept Shows How the Nintendo Switch Online App Could Actually Be Good

AugustusOxy

People really need to understand the core reason why nintendo does not go balls deep with the concept of console-to-console communication via the internet. Nintendo doesn't ever want to be that company that has to deal with the angry soccer-moms. If you force everyone to have a phone app just to communicate, you can put the blame on the parents who got the kid the phone when they have an unsavory conversation with someone three times their age.

Its just common business sense. I get it, the app sucks. The online isn't ideal, but I honestly only know like maybe 3 people who use console-based or in-game chat. Almost everyone I know uses skype or discord anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future, no systems have party chat/in game chat and its all moved toward apps like discord.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

He didn't clarify anything. He just back peddled. The dude made a brash statement trying to make a serious point, regurgitating constant anti-nintendo bias that comes from a place of total ignorance. No, his game never sold well on nintendo consoles, get over it.

But there are other games that don't sell well on anything BUT nintendo consoles. Its all about audience, not because the hardware makers don't kiss your ass and do everything for you.

You said something stupid and its time to own up to it.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

"PEOPLE JUST NEED TO CONTROL THEIR EMOTIONS! NOT JUST HAVE KNEE JERK REACTIONS TO WHAT HE SAYS".

First of all, its not about emotions, its about industry decorum. Even Nintendo's greatest rivals have had nothing but respectful, insightful things to say about Iwata.

Why should we be expected to control our emotions, when this turd has literally sat on his bitterness for all these years just WAITING for a chance to say this? To accuse Nintendo's second worst selling system of killing its beloved President? Dude, he's the emotional one, not us. Hes the one with issues, not us.

How can you be part of an industry and have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about?

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

@impurekind

Tickling your confirmation bias is not 'harsh truth'. How is it harsh? How is it truth? Actually prove your point. You can't, the numbers completely disagree with you and him.

You want him to be right. I'll say it until the end of time.

This isn't about people's emotion, its about industry decorum. Its about being a respectable business man. You talk up people's inability to control their emotions, but here he is, being an emotional, illogical dog turd and you're praising him for it.

This was never about truth. This is your sad reality's perception of what 'truth' is. You just happen to agree with him, when nothing he says has cold, hard evidence to prove. Its not a harsh truth, its a sad opinion from a washed up dev and a fanboy who can't help but pat himself on the back.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

Xbox and Playstation both have huge 3rd party support and sometimes-- PS4 version sells several times more than the Xbox Version or vice versa. Should Sony or Microsoft be berated for not 'promoting a game' enough because they don't talk it up?

Does this guy really want that buttpat for a god awful port of an uninteresting game that felt like it was from 1989? Is that what he was expecting from Nintendo?

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

@bcmikey
His points aren't far-fetched from where he and many other half-assed lazy devs stand, sure. Their games don't sell well on Nintendo platforms, but that's because their games don't resonate with Nintendo's core audiences, or in the case of most of Lorne's games, are just bad and un-interesting, or worse, stuck in the 80s.

Plenty of third party devs LIVE off of Nintendo's success, more so than any other hardware producer. Just because people like Lorne and a few bitter PC devs from the 90s can't manage in this changing environment, doesn't mean he's right about anything.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

I love the underpowered comments. I love that sony basically gets to set the 'power standard' despite the fact the PS4 was weak as hell compared to low end PCs when it came out. This isn't people being constructively critical of Nintendo, this is full blown anti-nintendo bias.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

@impurekind

Actually, bruh, I have my eggs in a row. I read the whole convoluted interview. I wanted to see just what kind of mechanations that go on in the mind of such a bitter swill like this and it just made me more frustrated.

Please show me the 'numbers' of how this guy is 'spot on'. Something that even he couldn't do. All this is anecdotal nonsense, from you, and him. His game didn't sell well because it was garbage when it launched on other consoles, the dude is a washed up hack, like so many other of the big mouthed, talentless devs out there that expect hardware devs to do all the work for them.

The problem is bruh, you just want want he says to be true, so it fits into your neat little box of confirmation bias. You're part of that class that lives in a fantasy world, they want a NintendoBox4 or nintendo to make third party games because you don't have the pocket change to afford more than one platform. Just admit it and I'll respect you a whole lot more for being honest.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

@impurekind

No bruh, its not. What he says comes from a place of bitterness. I read everything. He is factually wrong about most of it. You're just part of the same sort of backwards thinking mindset as him. You -think- things are a certain way that they aren't, that's why what he says seems 'RIGHT AND SPOT ON' to you.

There are numbers to disprove his assessments, you're just part of a very narrow minded group of people that would agree with this little slimeball and I pity you for it.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

AugustusOxy

Dude is a bitter little slimeball. His game were dated when the first one came out on the playstation/pc and only became popular by their aesthetic and their borderline dreamwork style of humor. Never was my cup of tea. His games didn't sell well on the Wii because they didn't sell well on any other console of that generation. They sucked back in the late nineties and they still suck today. Sorry bro, you're a talent-less dweeb.

Now that I've insulted his integrity, I'll talk about how wrong he was about the wii. Third party games sold painfully well on the Wii, so much so that companies went through the downgrading process and added crappy controls, tacking on millions to developement costs because they knew they'd get that money back.

As for the Iwata comment. Yeah, selling 2 pieces of gaming hardware that sold over 100 million put him into a grave early huh? All that success... Not cancer or anything. You little, moronic puke.

No Lorne, you belong to a type of class of people that I consider to be subhuman manchildren. You can't see into the future, you can't accept that some companies just do things different.

Your want is to have everything on one box, you pray for a day when all third parties just make for one platform. You want a utopia that can't exist. You're like so many entitled PC gamers that cry when consoles get a game that you don't, even though the PC has literally THOUSANDS of exclusives and amazing, unique games. You want Nintendo to go the route of Sega, or make an Xbox One or PS4 style system. Neither will work out financially for them.

Nintendo doesn't have the nearly 100 years of hardware developement resources that Sony has. Nintendo doesn't have the big, long standing hardware component agreements that microsoft has. Nintendo just has their imagination and their creativity to keep them afloat, and considering they have a lot of money amassed to keep them going in case of another Wii-u, I think they'll be making games long after Sony and Microsoft bow out.

And it will happen, why? Because companies like Sony and Microsoft do not look into the future in the same way. They still think in this day in age of Smart TVs people still need multi-media boxes. They build a house of cards too high, with no real foundation, and bank on in your face advertising campaigns and third party support that will eventually fail.

Nintendo will be doing cloud gaming first while Microsoft and Sony continue to play catchup with the PC(News flash Mcfly, PS4 was underpowered as hell when it came out, compared to even low end PCs, where a back in the day Playstation hardware was almost always guaranteed to try to match PC capabilities).

Comparatively, as a handheld, the switch is anything BUT underpowered.

No, bro, you're out of touch. Your games suck, you suck, and I'll never touch one of your overhyped products again.

Re: Editorial: The Frustrating Quest for a SNES Mini is Bad Business for Nintendo

AugustusOxy

Sigh. I don't think fans will ever understand.

NES mini and SNES mini are not money makers for Nintendo. They probably make less than a couple bucks on each unit sold. They were never meant to be that. "BUT IT WAS A CHEAP PRODUCT TO MAKE", cheap product with licensed games from third party companies. By the time you figure shipping and retail costs, they weren't making much.

No. The NES mini and soon to be SNES mini are not money makers.

They are marketing devices. Nintendo wants you TALKING about them, constantly. Nothing better than to make a very sought after, very frustratingly unavailable product, to keep people on their toes and discussing.

So how do you fight this kind of marketing? Stop talking about it. Either buy one when and if you can or accept you missed it. End of conversation. If you want this kind of limited stock poop to stop, stop talking about it so much. Its free advertisement.

Re: Streets Of Rage And Etrian Odyssey Composer Isn't Sure Why The Switch Exists

AugustusOxy

I'm a firm believer that nintendo played it super safe with the switch. A lot of nintendo's core charm is missing from it. I love my switch, but honestly, I loved my wii-u and 3DS more. The switch is missing a lot of what I'd call nintendo's signature charm.

They've gone a very basic route with trying to make it very straight forward, stripped away a lot of the the quirky things that kept their hardcore fans happy in one way or another (Streetpass/Miivere/Themes) and tried to go bare knuckles on plain-ole-gaming.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Switch is the wave of nintendo's future, but I was not ready to give up built in microphones, cameras, styluses, and duel screens and considering they've made three generations of handhelds/consoles based on these ideas, its more than a little depressing that they just simply expect me too because the mass gaming market isn't interested in it.

I honestly believe its the simplicity though, of the switch, the lack of mondo bells and whistles, a push for console gaming on the go, that has made it successful. So maybe, just maybe, ditching a lot of that other stuff was a good business decision.

Only time will tell. But I'd def. fork over another 300 bucks for another iteration of the DS, just like I would have easily bought a Gameboy4 after the DS came out.

Re: Dragon Ball FighterZ Could Come To Switch If The Demand Is There, Says Producer

AugustusOxy

People need to realize that most of the games shown at E3 have been in development for a while. Nintendo started selling Switch Dev kits to devs like, not even a year ago. It takes time. Next years E3 expect more games on the switch, particularly if the switch keeps its momentum. If it does reaching its goal by the end of this year, expect more and more devs to start migrating. I already look for most of the Vita supporting devs to jump ship by the end of 2018.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Went Its Own Way at E3 2017, and It Mostly Worked

AugustusOxy

Every year, its the same ole hullabaloo. People believe every little goofy industry rumor that pops up, don't take things with a grain of salt, build gigantic, world breaking expectations-- only to get them horrifically destroyed when E3 roles around.

Nintendo DID surprise me with TWO metroid announcements. I figured Retro was working on "Donkey Kong: White Hot disappointment" or something like that. Because that tends to be what happens when people hear Retro is working with nintendo again... and bam its not Metroid.

That being stated, the rest of it was pretty much how I expected it. Nintendo doesn't have to bring big guns to E3 anymore, they only like to focus on what is coming out within the same year or within x amount of months of e3. Quite frankly-- its a good strategy.

So many times, Sony and Microsoft announce something that has no realistic release date, is YEARS away from completion, only to cancel it or-- in the case of Last Guardian, spend waaaay too long finally getting it finished. The very nature of E3 has changed a bit, many companies are choosing to reveal their stuff at other outlets or go the way of Nintendo and have your very own reveals every so many months.

I think one of the best things for gaming culture would be to continue and further ourselves from hype culture, particularly E3 promises and expectation.

Re: Monster Hunter: World Confirmed for Rival Platforms, is Skipping Nintendo Switch

AugustusOxy

MHW is not a MAINLINE monster hunter game. It's not meant to be. For christ sakes. Its a re-imagining of the franchise, tailored for western audiences that don't 'get monster hunter'. The idea is that this game is more linear, with scripted events and some core monster hunter mechanics simplified. Its basically Lost Planet with monster hunter monsters. Anyone thinking this is 'monster hunter returning to its proper game system' needs to get their god dang head out of their butts. 8 Game mainline contract with Nintendo. That means the next 2 monster hunter mainline games will be on nintendo consoles. Nintendo paid good money for that exclusivity.

Japanese gamers make up most of monster hunters demographic.

Japanese gamers prefer portable consoles.

Only a very small population of Japanese people even have internet.

None of them want to be stuck at home, online playing a monster hunter game. The mainline games are going to stick to portables, have more of a chance of getting monster hunter 5 on a cellphone than you do on the PS4.

This is not the end of Nintendo's MH games, but the start of what could be a really interesting set of side games. I have a feeling though, any fans that are going into thinking they are getting MH EICH DEE-- are going to be REALLY, REALLY disappointed.

Re: My Nintendo Just Got Another Update in North America

AugustusOxy

Still can't believe all the complaints people had about club nintendo.

Between the wii, wii-u, DS, and 3DS, I own like 15 games that I didn't have to pay a single cent for.

My Nintendo blows. I don't want minor, tiny, little insignificant discounts on games. I haven't used any of my nintendo coins. Its awful.

All the weirdos that cried about the physical rewards from Club Nintendo, need to have their head examined. At least you got something. These minor discounts for digital games are a joke.

Re: Random: Switch Actress 'Karen' Embraces her Nintendo Meme

AugustusOxy

Never understood that meme. No one actually has conversations at parties, they all get half drunk, argue about politics and spend most of their time staring at their phone, which just so happens to be an electronic as well.

It never was funny or relevant, just more Nintendo bias in the form of people trying to be witty.

Re: Nintendo's Harshest Critic Thinks Switch Will Outsell Microsoft's Scorpio

AugustusOxy

I can sort of agree with what pachter says here, despite the man having about a 50/50 track record and saying some of the dumbest crap in gaming history. "People would gladly pay 500 dollars for the 3DS" is my favorite flub he ever spoke out on. God I wish I could go to his house and just blare that audio clip while he sleeps.

ANYWAY-- I think he is right on this one. This is the thing, the thing that most disillusion fans do not understand and its the thing that nintendo has built an entire empire on. They don't want to be the 'third box'. (Box1)Sony and Box2)Microsoft are like trees in a forest, trying to grow taller and taller than each other to soak up the most sunlight.

Nintendo is like a shrub or a fern, catching the sunlight that the trees don't get, the sunlight that is impossible for the trees to absorb. The taller the tree gets, the more of a liability it's size becomes. The amount of energy and force that goes into making that tree that big end up becoming its ultimate redundancy. The fern or shrub under the trees reproduces, grows out in its own unique way and when the big thunderstorm hits(A change in the market) the biggest trees are the ones that are affected the most. Meanwhile there is the shrub, safe and sound in the leaf litter.

Nintendo doesn't compete in the same market place as Microsoft and Sony, they create their own and soon there after the big boys are trying to copy them. As far as the scorpio goes, its the same as the pro, going to be underutilized and not expanded upon in the right way. More power should mean deeper, better games, not costlier, flashier visuals.

Re: UK Survey Shows Enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch and Its Concept, But Pricing is a Factor

AugustusOxy

Not entirely surprised, since the UK has, since Nintendo's dive into the gaming market; always carried a weird anti-nintendo bias. Not that the price point doesn't matter, but at this stage, 300 for a brand new console is the norm, anyone expecting less than that is deluding themselves. People pay way more than that for phones they'll just replace in a year or actual tablets they'll barely use.

Re: AM2R And Pokémon Uranium Nominations Revoked At 2016 Game Awards

AugustusOxy

@Moshugan
As much as I'd like to agree, this simply isn't true. If I made a 'fanart ford truck' that was, for all intents and purposes-- a ford truck, ford would have every right in the universe to encroach upon my creation and shut it down.

By this logic we could all just make 'fan art' of our country's respective currencies and distribute them. You have to draw the line somewhere. I understand how frustrating this is for fans, those games were amazing.

But here is the thing, if you're playing fan games for free, you might not be buying their games. INB4 MAYBAY THEY SHUD MAKE GEAMZ AS GUD AS THE FANS DEW.

After playing a lot of fan games, yes, sometimes fan games are better, but here is my question-- if they can make an amazing game themselves... why not create their own IP and SELL IT.

Become a company, work hard, create your own metroid inspired game-- and maybe, just maybe get noticed by Nintendo senpai and bam, you're on their pay roll and you're doing what you were before, except now its official.

Nintendo's devs are 'artists' themselves and have every right to protect their works. They have families and responsibilities to deal with too and they have to protect their livelyhood. No its not fair, but if life was fair everything would be free and none of us would have to work.

Re: Lifetime American Hardware Stats Show The Size Of Nintendo's Task With NX

AugustusOxy

Proportionately the 3DS has far more software titles sold per-unit than the DS does and software makes game makers a lot more money than hardware, believe it or not. This is by proportion and compared to the rate in which the gaming industry expands and contracts, all these numbers are subjective to their time period. Technically the 3DS is kicking ass in this hyper competitive gaming market.
