Re: Soapbox: Ignoring The Objectification Of Women In Games Won't Make the Problem Go Away

AugustusOxy

If I see anymore pro feminists crap on this news site I'll probably stop following it, I'm not joking. Stop bringing crap like this up to appeal to social justice warrior women who would rather seen the censorship of art, just as long as they get to see what they want in pop culture instead of what men might want to see.

Re: Soapbox: Ignoring The Objectification Of Women In Games Won't Make the Problem Go Away

AugustusOxy

This crap is really childish idealistic drivel.

All humans are objectified. That is what society does. The moment you get a job you become an employee, if you make bread, you become a baker. All things to take away your individuality.

If feminists would actually play senran (which is an amazing game) they'd realize that the women in Senran happen to be some of the most fleshed out and deep female characters I've seen in a game in a long time. God forbid women have large breasts and be sexual in nature.

This isn't an issue of how women are portrayed in video games, its an issue of women not liking men drooling over stuff like this. Women are allowed to complain about this but yet they have horrible idealizations and objectifications all over day time television.

Fricken deal with it, the game was fun as hell, and I would have played it if it were about dudes with their clothes exploding off-- people act like clothes exploding off in fighting games is a new concept. Big burley menly men have been blowing their clothes off in anime and video games for years and years. To see a girl do it once is a nice breath of fresh air.

Re: Latest Mana Game Rises To The Challenge

AugustusOxy

Legend of Mana is the end all tell all mana game, despite its ignorant nostalgia driven reviews of its release. Its probably one of the best games ever made, end of story.

The need to be like the "Snes classic" is what ruined all the Mana sequels after Legend of Mana. They should abandon the Zelda like mechanics and return to the side-scrolling ones.

Re: PS4 Launch Sales Close to Wii U Equivalents, 3DS Remains Best of the Rest

AugustusOxy

Hah. People don't want new consoles. I think Sony and Microsoft should have waited a good, two or three years before releasing their new crap. I think nintendo counted on them doing it-- thus why they released the wii-u so early. Now the wii-u is getting dreamcasted, a term I use when people refuse to buy an 'inferior console' that is on the market before even knowing what the next console is going to be like. The Playstation 2 did just that to the dreamcast.

Either way-- its funny to see these minuscule figures for console sales. I have a feeling gaming as a hobby is going to go back to its glory days of inventiveness, less emphasis on the mainstream and more emphasis on staying power.

Re: Kamen Rider: Battride War II Steers Its Way to Wii U in Japan

AugustusOxy

God I wish this would come over here and I wish the Wii-u was region free, I'm annoyed that I'd have to get it for the PS3 to play it.

BUT! This proves my point, that Japan is going to support the Wii-u with these interesting third party titles. I can't wait for all the developers to lose millions on their PS4 and Xboxone games over here and start flocking to the Wii-u because its cheaper to make for.

Re: Nintendo Download: 13th February (Europe)

AugustusOxy

Am I the only one annoyed that Inazuma Eleven keeps getting localized but not LBX?

That poll that was done for Level 5 games not too long ago was annoying as hell, Prof Layton shouldn't have even been on the list, it would have came over here regardless. Totally gave LBX a shoddy chance.

Re: Nintendo of America Discounts Refurbished Wii U Deluxe Sets to $225

AugustusOxy

Should have launched at 200 dollars flat-- that would have really appealed to the cheaper parents out there. That'd make it much cheaper than the other two consoles out there.

But I honestly think the moment they announce a LOZ game for the Wii-u will be its rebirth. I'm not a LOZ fan, but lets be honest, it sure moves product.

Re: The Nikkei Reports Potential Nintendo Smartphone Strategy, to be Announced This Week

AugustusOxy

I'm fine with this concept as long as its simple, phone centric concepts. I really don't wanna hear about full games coming to phones. I hate that-- because in my opinion the whole smartphone iphone fad is like anything else in gaming, a temporary fad. It comes in, dominates the market, then dries up in about six-seven years. Same happened to guitar hero, motion controls, and such.

Re: Kickstarter Research Highlights Low Delivery Rates of Game Projects

AugustusOxy

I haven't seen a single game on kickstarter I'd want to support, mainly because of ambiguity. A sweet talking developer pops onto a screen and makes promises hes never going to fulfill. Its like paying Molynuex to screw us again with fable before the game even comes out.

Yes, I understand the industry needs Kickstarters to get unique and interesting games funded. Too bad every game I've seen on kickstarter that got funded has been knockoff games or sequels that should just happen anyway.

Now if Kojima popped up on there and said "I need money for ZOE3" well then I'd start throwing money at him.

Until then, I'll stay conservative with my cash thank you.

@citizenerased

Even with the games that are still in development, its proving a point. Most of these games had a projected date, a lot of them required -further funding- and still have no clear release date...This displeases the funders... quite a bit.

Re: Early Mighty No. 9 Screenshots Blast Into View

AugustusOxy

Not super excited for this for a lot of reasons. This just proves the horrible state the industry is in-- where big names wont even use their IPs out of fear of losing a nickel, so their creators have to exploit their fans for funding to create a ripoff of their own products.

Re: A Third-Party "Secret Developer" Gives an Inside Story of Working on Wii U

AugustusOxy

This doesn't worry me-- I don't expect nintendo to depend on high label third party support.

Where the Wii-u will shine is in the same area in which the wii shined, in games that can't be made on other consoles because of its unique control scheme.

Plus Japanese developers will actually be able to AFFORD to develope for the 'under powered console' because its far cheaper to do so.

I don't expect a Nintendo console to operate like a sony console, it wouldn't be nintendo then. I'm sorry if that is what others want, but it just wont happen.

Besides, they are still dominating in the handheld market and more than likely always will.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Games We'd Love to See in 2014

AugustusOxy

I'm all for a Wii-u Animal Crossing, as long as it isn't as bad as City Folk.

Not that City Folk was terrible, its just, compare the content between the first Animal Crossing into Wild World, it was astounding how much they added to Wild World.

Then go from City Folk to New Leaf, the bar was raised again. I don't want another shallow game like City Folk, which felt like a port of wild world with better graphics. I want a full blown new game with a lot of NEW interesting features added.

@kamifox1

Not looking to insult game makers in general, but I do find that the industry is filled with people like Russel who are so out of touch with their user base they do things like come on here and shout angrily at potential costumers.

@russellohh

Thanks for confirming that once again, the gaming industry has little to no idea what their user base is like and how they operate.

Please tell me some more fun figures and statistics you've googled in your sparetime to justify the poor way you're treating the people on this page.

Re: 3DS Hack Removes Region Locking For Retail Cartridges

AugustusOxy

@russellohh

I'm sorry you're losing money because of pirating. Perhaps the gaming industry should figure out a real way to combat it instead of alienating its paying consumer base.

I personally know maybe 2 people in my experience that make anywhere near 24.50 an hour, and that is under the assumption that they get a full eight hour day, which most don't. Particularly in the midwest where the economy is still poopsydoodoocacapoopledoople. Even then your 'less than a days pay' logic works real great in a situation where say, someone has these things called 'bills' and responsibilities. If you wanna bring statistics into it, I think a 2 person household on average costs about 150 dollars a day to operate, that's a national average I read not too long ago.

Please tell me what company you work for so I know to never buy a game from them again.

150-200 dollars might not seem like a WHOLE lot to someone who 'works in the gaming industry' but it is for someone who has real world responsibilities... Why am I even bothering? You're not going to get it.
