Dragon Ball FighterZ Could Come To Switch If The Demand Is There, Says Producer

I signed a petition for that! Not having high hopes but... you never know...

Many 3rd parties are taking the "wait and see" approach; but if no one takes the first step then they'll be there forever.

Not to mention there's the added negative that by arriving late many potential buyers may have already bought it on another platform.

People need to realize that most of the games shown at E3 have been in development for a while. Nintendo started selling Switch Dev kits to devs like, not even a year ago. It takes time. Next years E3 expect more games on the switch, particularly if the switch keeps its momentum. If it does reaching its goal by the end of this year, expect more and more devs to start migrating. I already look for most of the Vita supporting devs to jump ship by the end of 2018.

That's a series I've never cared about.

I'd love to see this on Switch. I'll be buying the game whatever, but ideally on the Switch. Being able to play this on the go would be amazing.

@AugustusOxy This game is a 2018 title so that's not an excuse I am willing to accept anymore. Not for games coming next year. And unlike most triple A titles, I doubt this would require anywhere near the effort in porting

I would like to have both games, but before we get into confirming this game for switch how about you confirm a release date for dragon ball xenoverse 2...? Thought we'd get one at E3 since it was said to be a fall release date...? Seriously how much longer do we need to wait to know when fall games are launching? Makes no sense to me and fall is right around the corner. How can you even begin to measure demand for this game when you can't even give a release date for a game set to come out in a few months?

This looks better than the average Dragon Ball Z 3D fighting (umh... fighting? shooting? idk...) game I was used to... but honestly as one could guess from my nickname if I had to buy a videogame based on a manga I'd prefer something related to JoJo's Bizarre adventures. I hope Sony won't pay any longer to keep it exclusive and that I will see a JoJo game on Switch one day. Manga and anime are far better than its games though but it would be fun to have it

Can't think why this would even be a question. Switch strikes me as the best possible platform, and the only platform I would buy this on, due to time and tv constraints.

I also signed a petition for it. Never even watched a single episode of DB, but am a new anime fan with One Punch Man and My Hero Academia being recent shows I've seen. I love me some good 2d fighters (MvC2- DC vers., SFA3-PSP vers. are my favs) and this looks like a good one.

Then everyone who calls themselves a Switch fan had better get asking for it. . . .

@AugustusOxy Pretty sure all the fanboys said the same about Wii U when they saw all the dev taking the wait and see approach. Just hope history doesn't repeat itself with Switch--but so far I'm not seeing the major AAA third party support situation developing any differently.

Demand? LMFAO if you're seriously following that crappy excuse then Switch should be the FIRST to receive DBZ. Nintendo fans have been long-time supporters and buyers of these kinds of games. It's hilarious to see how DBZ is launching on Xbox and PS4 (where most consumers buy mature games and FPS) while Switch (where most consumers buy these exact types of games like SSB and DBZ) is being skipped on. I'm telling you, if DBZ launches on all consoles the Switch version will have the highest sales out of all the other versions. Either make a better excuse or back the hell out. (Well they're both technically the same thing but that is when they're definitely not bringing it to Switch, in the opposite case everyone's happy)

Meh. That other Dragonball game we're getting on Switch looks way better anyway. This new one looks like a mobile game.

Ahhh, more of the good ol' "We need game X to sell before developing/porting game Y". To be honest though, I don't know how popular Dragon Ball games are on Nintendo systems but if they're willing to port it to the Xbox, they sure can do it for the Switch.

I'm pretty sure at this stage of it's relatively new life, when devs say "demand" they are really talking about for the Switch, not their game in particular.

Why spend a lot of time developing a game for a system with an install base of 4 or 5 million when PS4 has 60 million and Xbox1 is thought though to be about 30 million? When demand is there for the Switch, when Nintendo actually makes enough to meet that demand, then I think we'll see more 3rd party game announcements. Wii U sold 13.4 million, it makes business sense for devs to take a wait and see approach. Or at least a "let's make a game on PS4 and Xbox1 first, worry about the Switch later when the install base gets large enough to make it worth the effort."

I don't care about Dragon Ball, but the game looks good and it'd be nice to have in the Switch's library. I'm sure many would buy it.

This game would be awesome to take on the go. I wouldn't mind having more fighting games on The Switch. I just hope this happens and that we will get some great horror games.

This looks like the best DB fighting game I've ever seen. If only all Dragon Ball games were of this quality. A shame it's not confirmed for Switch.

One of the few games shown at E3 I was actually really excited about. Kind of confused by her statement though; does she want fans to create a petition to measure demand? Flood social media? Maybe some actual goals for a switch version should be set.

The problem is every company that doesn't just start working on it to try to get it out at the same time is probably not going to get good sales numbers on their software on switch if it launches months if not more than a year after it launches on other consoles. Especially when you think of a lot of switches being owned by multi-console homes. Personally I love my switch, but if i want to play it having a PS4 i'd be more likely to pick it up there it will be 20-30 bucks cheaper normally by the time they release it on switch. Instead of saying if there is demand they should realize that demand will be there and work on it up front to try to get it launched at the same time. At this point if you aren't releasing it simultaneous or within a month max of the launch on other systems then you are probably better off not wasting your time and just launch it on whatever inevitable sequel they will likely make to the game.

I have never played a Dragonball game becixee I thought they were mediocre games with a dragonball skin. But this looks like Marvel vs capcom which is the only fighting game I ever loved. I would be cool with a MVC game with dragonball levels of insanity, and as I always say, any game I play is always better to be played on the go.

The knock? Getting it much later than the other systems. With so much quality backlog that I have, I don't mind the wait, but if there is a wait then i don't see it selling well. I really hope third party support comes around soon rather than so much positive talk with no real backing.

I don't get this, is this the new argument to waffle...imagining there's no demand unless the owners beg and scrape for it? Given the rapidly increasing user base this shouldn't be a question. It wasn't one when the Wii rolled out, just as much as there's always blind acceptance to release something on 4 iterations of playstation hardware. Just do it.

Anyways I grew tired of Dragon Ball nowadays, would had wish they talk more of when they'll be bringing that BlazBlue game they tease about. It's hard to believe people thought this game was too "strong" for the Switch. The gameplay is certainly fast, but it's hardly graphically intensive.

If Bandai Namco is smart enough and ports this game to the Switch, I'm fairly confident that DBFZ will sell more on the Switch than on the Xbox One.

@AugustusOxy This. Plus the Switch is coming off the Wii U, which did terrible so publishers are cautious about making games for the Switch from the start to see if the system is doing well.

With the Switch being a resounding success story (at least so far), I expect better third-party support in the future. I also think that Dragon Ball Fighters Z will be one of the titles that comes to the Switch, especially with Xenoverse 2 coming and Arc System Works supporting the Switch.

I would love to get this on the Switch. I'd take this over xenoverse any day!

More excited about Xenoverse 2 coming to the Switch but this'll be a nice 2D alternative if it eventually joins the library. The more the merrier!

My only problem with most of these latest Dragon Ball games is they don't use any English dub. I know not everyone is a fan of it, but it's what I had growing up, and I love love love the English dub of DBZ.

Buy the systems that have the games you want. Brand loyalty is a waste of time and an exercise in frustration when it comes to video games. With Nintendo all you have to do is look at their recent history. If you choose to ignore that then its not the third parties fault. They, like Nintendo, want to maximize their profits. They don't love you, the consumer, they love making a profit.

I love Nintendo games. I just don't like their game plan. Which is why I dumped brand loyalty years ago.

Here is my noise for dbfz on the switch

I got done hoping for my anime series games to be on Nintendo consoles and bought a PS3 and PS4. But I hope that we do see a change. I hope the next Xenoverse whenever it happens is released on the Switch alongside the PS4 and Xbox One.

Nintendo finally has a system that can run most 3rd party
games, and had the most recent version of Unreal 4 engine,But still doesn't get the support it should. I HOPE the 3rd party games we are getting sell well,because that must be the only thing holding games back.

Most games we don't get have min specs on pc and switch usually is stronger then mins specs.And usually a console should do better because it not running Windows.

I'm fed up with third party developers. Why do we need to keep begging anytime we want a third party game on a Nintendo console?

The worst offender is Capcom releasing Monster Hunter World on Xbox One but not Switch. I mean, seriously? Xbox? A console that has had nothing to do with MH like forever and has ABYSMAL sales in Japan which is the biggest MH market out there?

Stop treating us like beggars that are only given scraps. ANY AAA game should be made for the Switch by default unless it is an extremely power demanding game. The market is there, the desire from gamers is there. Everything else are just poor excuses from the developers.

The action-packed cinematic cutscenes and trailers look great - but I don't think the actual 2D gameplay does, and that looks like a mobile game, to me. A quality mobile game, maybe, but definitely a mobile game. You thinking it looks fantastic is fine, I honestly hope you'll very much enjoy the game, but I don't think it does, even if that doesn't make any sense to you. ✌
