Re: Talking Point: The Time Is Right For A Nintendo Phone

AugustusOxy

YEAH! And while we are at it, lets get a nintendo smart car, and nintendo smart TV... SCREW IT! NINTENDO HOUSE WITH NINTENDO COFFEE MAKER!
The mentality behind the whole 'cellphones are kicking our ass" that game makers have isn't an issue of losing to cellphones, its an issue of wanting that money.

It'd be like bicycle makers completely altering their business practice, changing bikes entirely to compete with skateboards.

Lets just keep both entities separate.

Re: Sonic Boom is Doing Pretty Well!

AugustusOxy

If this kind of blatant overtly annoying 'in your face' g4 techTV style 'LAWL OUR OPINION IS CUTE, WE'LL PUT IT INTO ALL OUR TITLES AND ARTICLES' continues-- I'll stop following this news site.

report the news, tell me what games are coming out and review them intelligently. No one is impressed you can make snarky jokes.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Admits That Super Smash Bros. for Wii U May Be His Last in the Series

AugustusOxy

Please god let it be true.

He runs smash brothers with an iron fist and his decisions of what characters make it in the game is awful.

Smash Bros needs to be run like a democracy, not a dictatorship. Get someone in there with some more imagination and we can start filling the roster with more worthy characters than wii-fit trainer, ten million fire emblem sword users, and butt-loads of clones.

Re: Review: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Wii U)

AugustusOxy

The hatred for this game shows a serious level of biased going into it before its played.

The level design was great, the gameplay was fun, and the characters were far better than they have been in years.

But considering this is a review coming from a site that is literally foaming at the mouth with anticipation for a game as awful as captain toad, I can understand how this review happened.

Re: Sakurai Explains Why Ridley Is Not A Playable Fighter In Super Smash Bros.

AugustusOxy

I really hope Smash Bros gets a new director. I'm sick of hearing Sakurai complain about how hard it is to make the game, don't like it, quit. I think the franchise needs a fresh start.

The new game has a huge roster, but most of it is made up of pretty boy sword users and female characters thrown in to appease a niche market of waifu-culture neckbeards and femnazis.

The reality is that smash brothers needs to go back to its roots of as little humanoid characters as possible, its the thing that makes smash better than all the other fighting games out there. If I wanted to play "pretty people beat each other up" I'd get dead or alive.

Re: 3DS Homebrew Exploit Set to be Launched on 22nd November

AugustusOxy

There is nothing wrong with any of this and more consoles should allow for this kind of creativity. If they'd give us options to do this on our own, open sourcing their code a bit better while still keeping security tight enough that we can't blatantly rob from them, I'm sure people would appreciate it.

To be completely honest though, thieves are going to be thieves regardless, blaming a tool for the missdeeds of others is like blaming a pizza for why you're fat.

Re: Region-Locking May Be a Thing of the Past Soon According to Nintendo

AugustusOxy

Considering how much Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are getting their asses handed to them by crappy tablet and cellphone gaming-- its time to consider all options for improving sales.

Region locking is not only antiquated; its illogical. Sure, nintendo has releases of Japanese games like animal crossing that come out nearly half a year before the english release and they fear that fans might import out lack of patience; but with games like that, I'm almost certain most fans would rather wait for the english versoin.

I believe a lot of the reason they still region lock is because big business over here doesn't like the idea of losing sales to imports. But if the two biggest evils in the electronics world can open themselves to region free bliss, then Nintendo should too.

Re: New Nintendo 3DS LL Outsells Standard Model By Almost Three To One In Japan

AugustusOxy

Good. Good. Good. Good.

They'll see the error in their ways. There shouldn't even be a standard model and a LL model, just the LL model and that should be the 'standard'. Bigger screens are always better. Even if it doesn't 'fit conveniently in your pocket'. If you put a nearly 200 dollar piece of hardware in your pocket like that, you're an idiot.

INB4 cell phones-- most intelligent people don't carry their expensive cellphones in their pockets, with their keys and change. I know I don't. It goes in a special carrier on my belt.

Re: Hardware Review: The New Nintendo 3DS Is The Best Yet

AugustusOxy

The lack of the faceplate support on the XL model drives me nuts. I have no intention on buying either of these until I can have a big screen AND swapable faceplates.

Not a huge fan of small screens of any sort. Regardless of whatever justification someone has (Doesn't fit in your pocket, pixelation, blahblah) bigger screens are universally better. If they weren't people wouldn't pay 8 dollars a pop to go see a movie in the theater.

Re: Modder Shows How to Play the 3DS With a GameCube Controller

AugustusOxy

Yeah... I'll just be gentle with it. People who break their circle-pads playing the game are getting waaaaay too into it. I think its safe to say-- treat the 3DS version as the 'casual fun' version and save the hardcore controller breaking for the Wii-u version.

I'd say that busting a stick on a controller is way less expensive than destroying your 3DS in the process of a hyper competitive madness.

Re: Mother 4 Is On The Way, But It's Not Being Made By Nintendo

AugustusOxy

@Darknyht
So does that make all fanart theft? Does that make all fan fiction theft? Does that make all fan music, fan films, fan anything theft?

I'll be happy if that law gets passed later this year, fixing all the BS, weird blurred line Intellectual property crap that people like you buy into.

If they aren't profiting off of it, it is, and should be completely legal.

But as long as white knights like you exist, we'll continue to have people OWNING the birthday song and the phrase 'you're fired'. Thanks for promoting that kind of mindless loyalty.

Re: Developer Profile: Masahiro Sakurai

AugustusOxy

You know, nintendo started out-sourcing Donkey Kong and those games were great-- maybe its time to pick a new Smash Bros director-- or at least have more creative control from other people and take away his iron-fist. I know ten thousand fans that have figured out how Ridley could play and yet he acts like its this impossible thing that is beyond his scope.

Sakurai is the ultimate troll, I can respect that, but the roster for Smash Bros 4 is probably the most underwhelming thing I can think of in recent history (and I'd say its more underwhelming than MvC3)

Skipping out on interesting characters like Midna, Dillon, RayMK, or really just about any other nintendo character in its vast roster in favor for someone as vanilla as Palutena, as boring as the Robin duo, or as un-interesting as any of the ten million pretty boy sword users.

I feel like the more straight up anime-looking pretty humanoid characters get thrown in smash, the less it feels like the whacky cartoony fighting game I loved for over a decade and a half and more like every other cut and paste fricken fighting game out there.

And after playing the demo, I can say I'm not super impressed with Megaman or the Villager either, I'm not feeling any real sense of originality from their gameplay style like say, Olimar in Brawl or Bowser in Melee-- how they brought new concepts to the game feel fresh. The new comers I've played thus far just feel like the same pair of shoes.

Re: Sakurai Explains Reasoning Behind Removal Of Ice Climbers From Super Smash Bros.

AugustusOxy

Thanks for confirming my suspicion.

Smash as devolved from a crossover fighting game into a Billboard to sell whatever possible under-performing game.

I'm not okay with this, at all.

That and the fact that a good portion of the roster now is pretty boys with swords or GIRL POWER GIRLS.

The evils of the video game world has spilled over into my favorite franchise and now I'm just disgusted.

Re: Video: Watch Us Crack Some Skulls In The 3DS Super Smash Bros. Demo

AugustusOxy

I'm still not quite sold on this game. The roster seems small-- way to small for the wait. I still don't like the whole "lose a character gain a character' mentality that fighting game makers have. Its disgusting. At this point, with technology, we should have the entire cast of melee and brawl with a butt load of newcomers.

I should be looking at a screen with about 75 characters, not 48.

I still wish they would have just made the Wii-u game a solid entity on its own and released it next year holiday season, with about ten-fifteen more characters and a real story mode. But I have a feeling that the amiibo thing is going to introduce new characters anyway.

INB4: BUT NOW CHARACTURZ ARE CUSTUMIZABUU.

Don't care. I'd rather have more DIFFERENT characters than ONE character I can alter slightly.

An no, Miis that look like people don't count as characters.

Re: Sorry, Contrary to Rumours the New Nintendo 3DS Will be Region Locked

AugustusOxy

And this is the straw that broke the camels back. No faceplates for the XL version + Micro SD card bs + stronger parental controls + region lock = I'll keep my current 3DS. Faster mii-verse and extra buttons aren't enough to make me 'upgrade'.

Nintendo needs to end this whole 'child friendly' BS that is essentially alienating their loyal, adult fans.

Re: New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced

AugustusOxy

@GameInfinite

Will its screens be the same size or smaller than the current XL?

I'm not sure if I'm in a hurry to throw out all my current memory sticks and awesome special edition 3ds XLs for a couple extra buttons and a circle pad, tbh.

They'll have to sell this concept a bit better to me, I'm a monster hunter person and so far that is the only thing about it that is getting my attention.
