I always prefer physical but I’m not too fussed either way. As long as I get to play the game I’m happy. But yeah, physical is nice to have on the shelf and potentially resell.
I don’t think it’s gonna be a quiet second half at all. But I do think it’ll be more “B” tier and filler titles rather than huge games like the next big 3D Mario, 3D Zelda, etc.
Nintendo (along with a lot of tech companies) is in a weird position. They’re being forced to raise prices due to investors, RAM prices, tariffs, and many other factors. Plus the general public doesn’t have a lot of extra money to spend in the current economy.
Basically, Nintendo knows they won’t profit as much per system sold right now, and they also know not as many people can afford a Switch 2, or at least they don’t want to get one with the current economic climate. So I think we’ll see some nice filler titles that aren’t exactly “system sellers”, and they’ll release the next big 3D Mario, Pokemon Winds/Waves, etc. when (hopefully) the economy for the everyday person improves + manufacturing costs per system goes down. That way they’ll sell more consoles at a higher profit per unit.
Which is why something like a remake of Ocarina of Time makes sense. It’s big enough to satiate current owners and drive some hardcore Zelda fans to get a Switch 2, but it probably won’t cause the masses to want a console compared to something like Pokemon or Animal Crossing.
So basically, they want to sell SOME systems now and satiate current owners with new software. If they didn’t, they’d make no money. But I think they’re playing the long game and waiting for a better time to sell to the masses to maximize consoles sold and profit per system.
Maybe it’s because I’m older and busier but I’ve been more than happy with the Switch 2 titles so far. I’m very excited for Yoshi and Splatoon. Star Fox and Fire Emblem are maybes at the moment.
Yeah, Mario Kart World was a bit underwhelming to me and I prefer 8 Deluxe, but it’s still a fun title. And games like Donkey Bananza, Pokemon Legends ZA, Metroid Prime 4, Kirby Air Riders, and Pokopia have been a lot of fun. I just started Hyrule Warriors AoI and that’s been surprisingly great so far.
That’s not even including old Switch 1 games that I never got around to or want to replay getting big graphics and performance updates like BoTW, ToTK, Echoes of Wisdom, Mario Odyssey, Kirby and the Forgotten Word, Animal Crossing NH, Splatoon 3, and many more.
I’ve been loving my Switch 2, and while I do wish there were more “heavy hitters” coming out soon, these are all still great gaming experiences. Fun gaming times during a rough real world time.
Probably not. $50 is a tough sell for me with a game like Star Fox. I love the original and the 3DS remake but it’s not a long title. It’s usually a 45-60 minute game and longevity comes from replays. I know this game has a level select with missions per level, but I just don’t see myself doing that.
I also don’t care for online multiplayer as I’m mainly a solo gamer. And those character designs are… well, they’re character designs. Cool that others are excited, but not my cup of tea.
Meh. Doesn’t look bad but it’s hard for me to get excited about another Star Fox 64 remake/reimagining, which in itself was already a reimagining of the SNES original. Cool for those excited but I’ll probably skip this one.
I won’t be home til midday Sunday but probably Pokopia and Doom The Dark Ages when I return. Two very different games haha. I’m also about 2/3rds done Prime 4 so I might jump back into that.
You know what, Star Fox would work really well as a rouge-like if Nintendo wants to stick to the short campaign and arcade nature of the originals. Just don’t retread the same plot haha.
But I’d love to see a full new story mode with nice length. I’m not opposed to an open world but I think Star Fox works betters as a a linear on rails-shooter.
The best of both worlds would be a 10+ hour story mode with mostly on-rails shooting, but maybe a few on-foot missions akin to Assault thrown in there. Then a separate rouge-like mode for replayability. I’d love that.
Good job, everyone. I actually love this list. I’d personally put the GC original at 5 but other than that I’d keep the list the same. Love this series so much and I’m excited to see what the next entry brings.
I’ll get it, just down the road when it’s cheaper and I’m through more of my backlog. I’ll probably get it for PS5 or PC, tho. It looks very fun and the reviews have been solid.
Capcom is cooking hard this year. They got Monster Hunter Wilds running WAY better, released two bangers with RE9 and MH Stories 3, and now Pragmata. Crazy stuff.
I wasn't expecting to see it already but my brother hit me up to see it with him and the nephew. Not that this is surprising, but I loved it.
If you're a nerdy Nintendo fan like me and love fun movies, then this is an easy 9/10. The sense of adventure was great, the action was surprisingly good, and it was packed with Mario and Nintendo references.
To the average person, though, this is probably more of a 7/10. I don't want to go mention any spoilers so I won't go in detail. But to someone who isn't a Nintendo nerd, I can see them saying it was a fun but basic kids movie.
As I saw it in standard quality (not IMAX or anything), I'm excited to pick up the 4K DVD once that hits $20 or less. Re-watching it on my 75" QLED is going to look amazing.
I get licensing expiring. I don’t like it and think they should renew it, but I get it. But it’s so criminally anti-consumer to just not let people know that a game will be delisted in the near feature and not offer some discounted price.
I don’t care about this title so it doesn’t matter, but it’s pretty obvious prices for the physical copy are going to skyrocket now.
An easy skip for me. If I was in high school or something I’d possibly bite. I used to have buddies over all the time for local multiplayer game nights and they were very open to trying new games.
Not only have those nights become more sparse since we’re all in our late 20’s now, but no one wants to try anything new anymore. Which is a bit sad, but I know I’ll never be able to convince anyone to play this. If this had some substantial singe player content, I’d easily bite. But it doesn’t, so I can only hope for a Mario Wonder 2.
The only Resident Evil game I have played is Revelations on the 3DS back in 2012 and I loved it. I own a decent amount of the titles due to buying a bundle on Steam, along with getting the physical copy of the RE4 remake last year for cheap. I was going to start with the RE2 remake soon and probably just play them in order, while throwing the original RE1 remake in there at some point.
It seems like the Xenoblade games are among the largest improvements here. Of the few games I've tested, I'd day Princess Peach Showtime is the biggest improvement. Online it says the original resolution was 720p in handheld, but I never believed that. It always looked very blurry and pixelated compared to other games. Now it looks pretty nice in handheld mode and it's giving me the itch to go back and finally beat the game now.
What a random but amazing update! I just tried Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with this enabled. Crisp 1080p. Most of the Switch 1 library just got a huge resolution/performance upgrade for Switch 2 displays.
I was planning on finally playing Black Flag soon, so now with the weather warming up I’m stocked to play it outside at night at a crisp 1080p in handheld 😎
I’m seeing so much praise from this game both online and from friends. It looks like a lot of fun and I’ll probably pick it up down the road. I’m just too busy now and need to keep to my budget 😅
@Oldstalk And if thousands of people don’t like something about a game, voice their concerns, and don’t buy it, it’s not the end of the world either. It’s really the only thing consumers can do to “vote” outside of, obviously, not buying the game.
Damn, live service tactics in a $70 single player game. A kid-friendly game, no less. Ew. Especially since this limited time event is SOLO CONTENT. These companies don’t respect consumers’ time or money.
I wasn’t planning on getting this but reviews were giving me a bit of an interest. Now I’m uninterested again.
Bruh... I don't think I've been this excited for a Pokemon game since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Actual good visuals, fun looking world, Pokemon walking around the world naturally, tropical region, fun looking starters... I'm hyped.
I try to avoid spoilers and leaks but the final evolutions matter to me when picking my starter. Based on these designs, I'd say the fire pup is my favorite but I really like all three of them!
@darkswabber agreed with this. Corporations and honestly even some businesses try to get away without properly testing things. They don’t deserve any consumer’s money until the product is as advertised and working without major issues.
Glad it turned out well and most people seem to enjoy it. I’m unfortunately just at a much different point in my life to justify spending $70 on something that isn’t a huge title for me. But yes, it does look good and maybe down the road I’ll pick it up.
But this is a GOATED gen. Other favorites of mine are Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, Pelipper, Hariyama, Aggron, Flygon, Wailord, Walrein, Groudon, and Rayquaza.
Hot take but the older Mario Sports games people deem to be more feature rich… didn’t really have any more content. Like go back and play the Cube and Wii Mario sports games and if you actually just play solo, there’s not much solo content outside of a basic tournament mode and sometimes a story mode that isn’t super long and acts more like a glorified tutorial.
Most of us all just older now and not playing with friends as often. So I think our minds are blurred. That said, in a lot of cases, the older games had more creativity and style. That’s what I miss the most. And to be fair, I think it’s completely okay to expect more content than a gamecube game from the early/mid 2000’s. Especially for a $70 game that already looks so similar to its predecessor from 2018.
Overall from what I’ve been seeing, Fever looks pretty good and might be the best Mario Tennis game to date (with the exception of maybe Power Tennis specifically if you have a good group of friends for the minigames). But it’s hard to justify $70 for another “pretty good” and standard Mario Sports game in the current economy, at least for me.
If you’re a huge Mario Tennis fan, then sure, it’s probably fun and I hope you enjoy it. But I hope Nintendo goes harder with Golf (and brings back the 3-click mechanics and pizazz of older entries). Same with Strikers and Baseball, if we see those again.
Bruh I didn’t even know this app existed but glad to know it does now. The eshop runs great on Switch 2 but it’ll be nice to look up games every now and then on my phone!
Fun opening and watch. Just hard to justify spending $70 on Mario Tennis given the current economics and already feeling Aces was overpriced back in 2018. But it does look fun, just like $40 fun max for me lol.
@jsty3105 Very true. It is really nice to have these games on the go, whether that’s outside or in bed. I thought it was a solid direct, just kinda saying why I think a lot of people did or didn’t like it,
I think this is one of those directs where it was great if you only own Nintendo consoles but kinda meh if you already have a PS5, Series X, or a decently powerful PC.
With the prices of goods continuing to soar and having a lot of money to save and spend on other important/mandatory areas of life, I’m really not buying any new games this year aside of Forza Horizon 6. Maybe I’ll splurge on a game or two during the holiday season but that’s about it. I’m okay with Nintendo not really showing me any games I want for 2026 so far.
The multiplayer stuff looks fun but requires you to have a consistent group of people to play with to make it worth imo. So it’s an easy skip for me since we’re not always at my place when we hang, and when we do and play games it’ll always be Party or Smash over anything else.
I feel like this should’ve just been its own separate $10-$15 eShop game that isn’t even tied to Wonder. Could’ve just had the multiplayer content and called it “Mario Madness” or something.
It's a phenomenal game but they seemed to set way too high of expectations, especially releasing it the same year as Mario Kart World. I don't know what the game's budget was, but over 1 million units sold + DLC sales + critical acclaim seems successful to me.
But yeah, the "success" depends on a lot of factors like the overall budget, DLC sales, operating expenses, net profit compared to other SEGA games, etc.
Nothing for me for February and March. Just going to chug through my Backlog. This is going to be a very expensive year for me so it's probably good not much is interesting me.
Not my thing. But it’s nice it’s coming out for fans of the series. Hoping for some big reveals soon as Nintendo doesn’t have anything I’m interested in yet in 2026.
I beat this game like 8 months ago and this update makes me wanna replay the entire game again. It really is a phenomenal 2D platformer, one of the best along with Tropical Freeze!
Will say, I never thought this game would get updated because I thought Nintendo wanted to bury the old DK design haha.
I see so many people anonymously “calling out” others for wanting 60fps, but I barely see anyone actually saying they’re upset about the 30fps lock. Kinda feels akin to imaginary gatekeeping.
I guess people just like having something to hate or talk down on. Anonymity brings the worst out of people, imo.
With Pokemon Wind and Waves (Gen 10) allegedly coming this holiday season, I imagine Nintendo will want to have a more affordable hardware option. They’re not gonna expect most parents to shell out $450-$500 on a system just for their kid to play one Pokemon game (that’ll cost $70-$80).
My guess, which is very safe, is a Switch 2 Lite or similar. I could also see a regular Switch 2 system that doesn’t include the dock and is made of cheaper materials. Anything for them to get a system out closer to that $300 price range so parents can justify buying their children a system (or a child to save up for).
It’s worth the $5 but it’s a very small upgrade. The 4K visuals do look noticeably smoother on my display. The mouse controls are actually very nice for home designing. And that’s about it. The camera and mic functionality is kinda useless to me. I’d give it a 7, but it’s worth picking up if you’re really into AC.
When I saw this I got excited cause I thought this was an update to make these games run better on Switch 2. I’m one of the few that loves these BDSP, they’re objectively not that good but they’re comfort food games for me.
I feel very fortunate to have what I have due to the current state of the world’s economy. That said, even though I have a Switch 2, I am barely buying any games. Everything is just so pricey now plus I’m at a very different point in my life compared to most of the Switch 1 generation.
Actually looks solid. That said, $70 is too high of an asking price for me. I didn’t play Aces that much so I still felt like I over payed with at $60. Maybe on sale. But the new modes, single player, and playable Wiggler do have me intrigued.

Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games & Accessories For February & March 2026
Nothing for me for February and March. Just going to chug through my Backlog. This is going to be a very expensive year for me so it's probably good not much is interesting me.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream For Switch?
Not my thing. But it’s nice it’s coming out for fans of the series. Hoping for some big reveals soon as Nintendo doesn’t have anything I’m interested in yet in 2026.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The Switch 2 Upgrade For Super Mario Bros. Wonder?
No purchases from me. It looks fun as a party game but I already have enough of those. The amiibo are cool but I don’t buy amiibo to begin with.
It’s a shame, I was really hoping for new levels for single-player (outside of revisits) and a resolution bump.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Gets A Free Switch 2 Update And Adds Dixie Kong
I beat this game like 8 months ago and this update makes me wanna replay the entire game again. It really is a phenomenal 2D platformer, one of the best along with Tropical Freeze!
Will say, I never thought this game would get updated because I thought Nintendo wanted to bury the old DK design haha.
Re: Video: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2 & Switch)
Re: Mystery Product Code Sparks Rumours Of A New Switch 2 Model
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?
It’s worth the $5 but it’s a very small upgrade. The 4K visuals do look noticeably smoother on my display. The mouse controls are actually very nice for home designing. And that’s about it. The camera and mic functionality is kinda useless to me. I’d give it a 7, but it’s worth picking up if you’re really into AC.
Re: More Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Updates
When I saw this I got excited cause I thought this was an update to make these games run better on Switch 2. I’m one of the few that loves these BDSP, they’re objectively not that good but they’re comfort food games for me.
Re: Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period
I feel very fortunate to have what I have due to the current state of the world’s economy. That said, even though I have a Switch 2, I am barely buying any games. Everything is just so pricey now plus I’m at a very different point in my life compared to most of the Switch 1 generation.
Re: Mario Tennis Fever Overview Trailer Serves Up A Host Of Fresh Features
Actually looks solid. That said, $70 is too high of an asking price for me. I didn’t play Aces that much so I still felt like I over payed with at $60. Maybe on sale. But the new modes, single player, and playable Wiggler do have me intrigued.
