@Qwiff I just played with the new update installed and it sadly still has the issue, at least it seems to me. That, paired with what appears to be a slightly lower resolution, makes seeing upcoming obstacles a bit tricky sometimes. Otherwise, the game is very fun… but yeah, how this got beyond playtesting is shocking. My guess is… they didn’t play test outside of the core development team.

I just got the game and the single player is a lot of fun so far. That said, I hope this update fixes the framerate issues. The game “technically” runs at 60fps but it has a weird “jutter” affect to it.

Looked this up online and apparently it’s a mistake in the Unity code with the way they bounded rigid body objects not tied to the camera. Hopefully they can fix that, otherwise it’s a great game.

If it was a fabled Switch OLED then yeah, I’d probably pick it up. But it sadly isn’t, so I’m going to resist spending the money on it despite it having a killer design.

Very neat. As for Nintendo doing a Switch Lite OLED… my guess is they will but it’ll be a few months after the Switch 2 launches. Launch the Switch 2 with an LCD screen and then a remodel of the Lite (OG Switch) with an OLED display. I don’t like this idea but for some reason I think they’ll do it lol.

It won’t be easy but I see it as feasible. Nintendo has proven to have an amazing game output this generation alongside (mostly) listening to fans.

If they can make a system that hits 1080p 60fps with HDR in just about all games (heck, maybe even a bit higher resolutions with some simpler titles and upscaling tech), then I think a ton of people would upgrade over the first few years.

Gaming is also only going to keep growing in terms of audience size. We’ll have to wait and see what Nintendo has in terms of hardware, price-point, and software… but there’s a good chance they can hit close to Switch numbers if they keep playing their cards right.

I used to love the 3 point shootout mode in Resort so I’ll definitely give this a go. I don’t care much for the 2v2 mode.

@rjejr That’s a fair guess. Releasing on the Switch 2, especially as a launch title, would make it highly more marketable for them. Plus, it would run way better for Nintendo fans. Regardless, this game looks amazing and it’s quickly becoming one of my most hyped titles!

And just like that, I lost all interest.

Kinda what I expected. The single player is a good return to form after Banana Mania brought back the original “feel”, and the multiplayer is mediocre. I’ll definitely pick this up, but I’m waiting for a discount. $50 is too expensive for me for good but short single player campaign, which is the only thing I care about in this title.

I preordered TTYD at GameStop and got my copy in the mail a day early. Curious why this seems to be a Walmart issue.

The weirdest announcement of the direct but a welcome one. Nintendo Switch Sports isn’t an amazing game but got more hate than it deserved. It’s a solid title and I’m looking forward to picking it back up to play the 3 point shootout. Loved that in Resort.

If they made this a Switch Lite OLED I’d have considered it. I’m still surprised they never made one yet.

Agreed, this was a great Direct. I didn’t care for most of the filler third-party games but the Nintendo titles delivered.

I thought we were just going to see ports and remasters, but instead we’re getting a new Mario & Luigi game, a Mario Party that feels like a perfect blend of the N64/GC eras, a new 2D Zelda with a new concept but a traditional g structure, and our first gameplay of Metroid Prime 4 with a release year.

Oh, and throw in some good NSO games and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD.

The Switch, at least for me, is going out with a bang. I’m pretty excited for this fall’s lineup.

Looks amazing. I’m curious if the gameplay we saw is Switch or Switch 2 footage. Regardless, I’m hyped. Great direct imo.

I’m stoked. I prefer traditional-style Zelda games over the new style with BOTW and TOTK. This seems to check all the boxes. We get a new, original story where you play as Zelda with fun new mechanics. But having this all tied within the traditional gameplay loop with (what appears to be) dungeons is exactly what I want. Looking forward to this!

Usually I have a wish list of games but I don’t this time. I’m just interested to see what Nintendo has cooking for the second half of the year considering we’re so close to new hardware.

@Not_Soos Well said. I’d easily pay full price for an enhanced version of World Tour with local multiplayer. Even the online was better in World Tour than Super Rush! I remember loving those weekly online tournaments!

One of my favorite N64 games. Toadstool Tour is also one of my favorite GameCube games, and World Tour one of my favorite 3DS games.

Unfortunately, Super Rush is pretty far down on my list of Switch titles. It felt like an off-brand, more simplified version of the series with a live-service content drip approach.

Hopefully the next Mario Golf is more like the others, but regardless, happy birthday to one of my favorite games!

I also didn’t ever say anyone was wrong, just that the poll seemed a bit pointless due to the added option. You’re titled to your own opinion, but don’t put words that people didn’t say in their mouths and act like you’re proving them wrong.

Edit: I see now you’re referring to the article as a whole. I was only referring to the poll which only specifies two options.

I find answers such as “as long as the game is fun, I don't care” to completely break the purpose of polls.

The topic at hand was whether crisper visuals or higher frame rates are more important, so throwing a sorta cop-out answer like that just makes it so we won’t get the most representative votes to the question at hand. Of course the game being fun is most important, but let’s stick to the main point of the topic.

I’m down for more Wii/Switch sports if they fix the issues from the last game. The last one was fun but I didn’t like only having 7 sports, locking all cosmetics to online play, and not allowing customization for guests in local-play.

Make it more like Resort but with online play and it’s an insta-buy.

I haven’t played a Picross game since the Mario one for GameBoy on my 3DS back in the day. I enjoyed it so I might give this one a go as I like me some Namco arcade characters.

I vastly prefer the Europe box art. I remember getting my copy here in the US back in the day and wanting that European box instead lol. Surprised it’s 50/50, but I guess they’re both nice in their own way.

Nah. The combat is my favorite part of the games, with the sense of the adventure and story doing a good job of bridging it all together. A full blown social/life sim game wouldn’t interest me in the slightest.

I think Engage’s problem was the super basic story and characters. Plus it coming out in January, right after the holiday rush. Games like Awakening and Echoes (and Fates, to an extent) released at better times and had more fleshed out characters and stories. Just make another game like them, not like Engage’s “vanilla” or “first Fire Emblem” approach.

All this is to stay that I still enjoyed Engage a lot. More than Three Houses, in fact. But I can see why others didn’t like it as much or why it didn’t blow up in sales.

I have a slight preference for another 3D Donkey Kong game since I have a lot of nostalgia for DK64. But Tropical Freeze is one of my favorite 2D platformers of all time and I’d love to see Retro make another.

Nintendo has a knack for releasing my most anticipated games from them the day I leave for vacations/trips. Last year it was Mario Wonder and this year it’s Paper Mario.

My copy is preordered but it’ll be waiting for me to play the second I get home.

I almost never pre order games. This was my first pre order in probably 5+ years since I had a gift card to burn. GameStop better ship me my game cause there is no GameStop within 30 minutes of me.

Software attachment rates have also boomed in general over the past decade so this makes sense. There are more gamers than ever before and a lot of us are pretty dedicated to our hobbies.

I could see Legends Z/A releasing around the launch window of the Switch 2. Then maybe Switch 2 updates for Scarlet and Violet, along with Ultra Scarlet and Ultra Violet, with all DLC and a tweaked story, releasing holiday 2025.

@BANJO Agreed. I want the physical cart and case but I don’t really care for the extras. Not sure if I’m going physical or digital now due to the large pricing difference.

Yeah the NA store page has been saying “releases 7/18/24” for the past hour for me. Never seen an option to pre-order. Guess I’ll just play the wait and see game.

As long as I don’t have to rebuy pro controllers I’m fine with that. I probably wouldn’t buy any joycons anyway.

Disappointing? Yeah, but that’s not going to stop me from enjoying this masterpiece again.

Excited for both. I’m not usually hyped for remakes but these are some of my favorite games on their respective systems. Glad I’ll be able to play them in within the next 2-3 months.

@Not_Soos I think the point of his wording is to say if Nintendo sues him, he won't be able to financially support his family. Yuzu devs have to pay $2.4 million in damages, and while that doesn't seem like a likely amount for a GB emulator at this time, I wouldn't want to take any chances.

Edit: Had a some time to give it a go. It’s… alright? The resolution seems like it’s somewhere between 480p and 720p and the frame rate surprisingly stuttered on me quite a few times.

The gameplay is even more basic than Kirby and Yoshi titles. Not terrible for a “turn your brain off” kind of game but even the collectibles were mostly just given away or in super easy to find areas. And I was hoping for more set pieces or gameplay variety but it was kind of just press B to attack and that’s it.

It’s not bad but it was painfully basic, even more so than I was expecting. For now I think I’ll skip this one, which is a shame because I love the concept for the game. But hey, not every game is for me. Glad for those who enjoy it.

I haven’t played these and the trailer made it seem likes it’s a swimming simulator where you basically just discover fish. Which sounds kinda relaxing but is there anymore to the game or is that essentially it?

Seems like a simple game like most Kirby titles or Yoshi’s Crafted World. But if it’s fun with some good collectibles (which it seems so) then that’s all that matters to me. Looks good and even if not day 1, I’ll be picking it up sometime after.

I am grateful to own all three major consoles so I’m going in expecting nothing of interest for me. That said, it would be nice to see the new Professor Layton in action and maybe a Nintendo IP being worked on by a third-party or indie studio. Not expecting those thing, but would be nice lol.

I’ve seen the wrong game listed underneath a video many times. I mean, I hope I’m wrong cause I love Johto but it could just be YouTube’s algorithm assuming a random Pokemon game.

I liked the original back in the day but not enough for me to play it over the games I'm currently playing. As such, I did not vote.

I’ll probably snag it and give it a play through when it’s cheaper and I have the time to play it. Looks good!

Maybe sometime in the future but I have no plans currently. I liked the original on the GBA but it just feels like an odd game to remake, at least for the asking price. There are simply too many other games I'm currently playing through to warrant picking anything up at the moment unless it's something I'm dying to play.

I'm much more excited for Peach's Showtime, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Paper Mario TTYD.

DK64 on NSO would be nice. It's an amazing game that gets a bad rep because people think they have to 100% it. I'd also love to see a new game, either a sequel to Tropical Freeze to finish the "new" trilogy or a new 3D game.

Cool. Curious how it’ll look considering it’s a costume for Sonic and not actually a seperate playable character. I’m guessing it’ll just be a recolor but it would be funny to see the character model completely change to Shadow but still be labeled as Sonic.
