Edit: Played a bit more before bed. Wiggler’s animations are crazy expressive and well done. They also made him a heavy weight (same weight as DK I believe) but put him in a medium sized cart like Metal Mario. Interesting. I raced as Petey and Kamek too and they both a lot of fun too. Great DLC wave!

@CharlieGirl Damn, didn’t know that. Looked up a few other sources and they seem to be similar statistics. Like I said, what I said was just a random thought based on who I personally know, it wasn’t supposed to be anything concrete. Glad to see gaming become more popular across the board for everyone!

Not to bring social or political issues into video games but I guess I’ll give my two cents at the expense of being hated lol. A lot of these are assumptions so don’t take any of this too seriously, just kinda a thought.

Nintendo is a software/videogame company. More men tend to play video games than women. So I’m sure they have more men applying than women, causing them to have more men employees. You need certain skill sets for certain positions, so if there are a lot more men applicants than women, you’ll tend to find a good amount of your talent from the larger pool (this being men).

Same goes for management. There are probably more men working there, so when an opportunity for a management position arises, they look at who is the most qualified. Sometimes it’s a girl, sometimes it’s a guy. But when you have more men in the applicant pool, statistics say it’ll be a guy the majority of the time.

Gaming and software are slowly becoming mediums with more women joining in, so I think we’ll see a rise in women employees and managers in these fields as time goes on. But yeah, it’ll take time. This has nothing to do with lower drive or intelligence, that’s not a thing imo. It’s just an industry where men are more interested and applying to these positions. And as stated, the gap is slowly changing over time which is neat.

As silly as this is app seems, I’ll definitely give it a go. I’ve been trying to get my sleep schedule back on track and it’s been pretty difficult.

I’m legit indifferent if a successor gets revealed soon. The extra horsepower would definitely be nice for resolution and frame rate increases, but I like the switch ecosystem and the steady game releases are making me happy. If anything, I’d like to see a Pro model, but who knows if that’s even on the cards at this point lol.

Seems fine to me. Decreasing the wage gap is good so everyone gets a fair salary but people also need pay jumps to incentivize working harder and tackling bigger challenges. Kind of a balancing act. I’m no expert in this field but I believe balance is key in this regard.

Tears of the Kingdom. Although I did really enjoy the Pikmin 4 demo so once I play through the full game, it’ll probably become my number 2.

Behind those two are Metroid Prime Remastered and Fire Emblem Engage. And we still have that 2D Mario to look forward to… 2023 is a fantastic year for Nintendo imo.

@WaffleBoat Agreed. Nintendo announced 1080 Snowboarding, Excitebike 64, Mario Party 3, and Pokemon Stadium 2... OVER 9 MONTHS AGO. Still no news on them, let alone any other new announcements.

Seems like the Mania devs dipped right after the remakes and the rest of the Sega devs just got lazy with finishing the rest of the collection. Still doesn’t seem bad, though.

I’ll wait until I can get the physical copy for $30 or cheaper. I actually have no (official) way to play these games and I never beat them either. I played them a lot in Mega Collection on the GameCube as a kid but probably got no more than a third of the way through them. It will be nice to finally go back and properly complete them.

The Game Gear titles are a decent addition… just don’t know why they wouldn’t include the better Master System versions… or the better Genesis versions for the spin offs. I’ll definitely give all 4 the actual Sonic side-scrollers a go.

If people don't scalp these like the Pokemon Oreos, making them nearly impossible to get in my area, then sure I'll pick up a pack to snack on.

Commercial was very satisfying, too.

I’m deciding if I want to get the digital copies of Pikmin 1 and 2 to prep for 4… or wait for the physical. Sucks that it releases 2 months after 4.

Edit: if I really want to play them in the next couple of weeks I’ll just snag the digital copies. Just like having the physical when I can without paying much extra.

I’m a big Mario fan so this was the best direct in a good while for me. It’s was relentless with the announcements! 9.5/10, would watch again.

Ouch. No wonder they decided to reveal the game and trailer outside of the Direct. This looks… not good lol.

Glad co-op is making a return. Pikmin 3 was pretty fun with it. My only concern is it being built with Unreal Engine. It’s a great engine but Yoshi’s Crafted World ran at a pretty low resolution for a modern game (~600p if I remember correctly). Blown up on a TV it didn’t look so great without some aggressive sharpening.

Granted that title ran at 60fps and Pikmin will more than likely be a 30fps experience, so I’m sure it’ll look just fine. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

I guess I’ll be the optimist here. The game looks good. Physics looks good, the art style looks nice, and the areas you go to seem interesting.

Oh, I also enjoyed Yoshi’s New Island. Sue me, lol.

Glad it’s impressing. The trailer looked great and it seems like a logical next-step to Sonic Mania. I’m not even a big Sonic fan and I’m looking forward to the final game!

I redownloaded Unite last month after not playing since fall of 2021. I have to say… it was a lot of fun and I don’t remember why I stopped playing. Might jump into a few matches this weekend.

I will say, it seems like they’re even more aggressive with the micro transactions than before, tho.

That’s weird. I usually don’t care much anymore about separate downloads… but wouldn't the point of waiting over a year to release a physical copy of a game be to have all the content physically?

Got my copy last night. I didn’t have time to watch it completely but so I picked a couple scenes and it looks great on my tv. Gonna watch I have the time tonight or tomorrow.

I really like the purple/green combo. Maybe I'll trade in my neon yellow pair that I have for credit towards it. Strong maybe, though.

Pikmin 4 is a definite purchase. Disney Illusion Island is a maybe, it looks really fun but I’ll probably wait to see more gameplay and how it reviews. Sonic Origins Plus I’ll probably pick up physically but I’m deciding which platform I want it on lol.

Looks like a pretty fun game to me. I’ll grab it on my Series X once it drops in price. Maybe when it hits $30-$40.

Dope. I grew up with Mario Advance 2 and it’s been such a long time since I played Mario World in general. Excited to play through it again on the big screen once I’m done Tears of the Kingdom and Metroid Prime.

Dope. Looking forward to moving over the two shinies I found and some of my other favorites. Now I can restart the game without feeling like I’m losing much.

Wouldn’t be another Pokémon article without people just writing paragraphs on how they hated these titles lol. The games have issues but the foundation is there and I had fun with them. To each their own.

But I will agree that these small random patches to solve the most minute of problems is kinda a slap in the face.

This “event” raid is absolutely useless. You can already catch the specific Pokémon in their respective games. If you must have a different Tera type, then use Tera shards.

They could have at least swapped the version exclusives.

As long as the Switch Pro or whatever it's called can achieve native 1080p/60fps for all games, I'll be satisfied. I don't think Nintendo will start a new console generation with how strong software sales still are. So I'm hoping for the sacred Pro to come out this holiday season or next Spring.

You sold me with the return of more traditional dungeons and a more involved story. BOTW was fun but underwhelmed me. This game seems like it may have addressed my issues so now I’m pumped to give it a go.

I wasn’t planning on getting it (at least not for some time) since Breath of the Wild wasn’t my cup of tea. But my brother pre-ordered it for my birthday so I guess I’m getting it this weekend lol.

I did enjoy Breath of the Wild but I was one of the few that was disappointed by it overall. My main gripes were the lack of dungeons, small amount story, and largely slow pacing due to the widespread overworld.

Tears of the Kingdom looks to have a much more interesting story that isn’t just shrouded in uncovering small bits from the past. It also allegedly has proper dungeons. Here’s hoping the overworld is a lot more dense with content!

With how strong software sales are and the Switch still selling nearly 18m units, I don’t think they’re in a rush to go next-gen. They have to be profiting so much per system.

I know it’s beating a dead horse at this point but I think a Switch Pro (or whatever it’s called) is imminent sometime this holiday or early next year. That way you boost software sales without resetting software sales targets. But who knows.

Don’t care. I’d consider buying any of the rebooted trilogy games but those games will never come to switch at this point. Even just the a port of the 360 version of the first game would probably sell me.

Unless they make an original game from the ground-up, specifically for Switch hardware, then I’d agree. The only other options are a cloud version (which would be awful for a fast paced shooter where timing is everything) or a port of a 360/PS3 gen game… maybe a lower-texture One/PS4 game.

I’m just surprised they haven’t ported CoD 4 over with gyro-controls.

As much as I loved playing through Scarlet... I agree, it's painful to see these patches come out and address none of the real problems with the game.

It's crazy to think how much better the review scores would have been if they just got this game running at a consistent 30fps with a camera that doesn't clip through the ground.

Glad to hear it turned out so well. I'll pick it up sometime this Spring or Summer. Seems like a fun remake!

I haven’t been keeping up with indie games at all so I’m not expecting anything. That said, I appreciate smaller devs so I’ll give it a watch and maybe a game or two will peak my interest.

@blindsquarel Yup. Cool thing is he actually fully coded and developed the game with a buddy of his if I recall correctly. He didn’t just do the concept and design work. I have that game on my wishlist, actually!

Looks pretty fun. Reminds me of a more action-packed Hollow Knight with GBA visuals. I like Jirard, don’t watch his content all the time but when I do it’s usually a fun video. They’re too many games for me to get this day 1 but I’ll keep an eye on it.

I was interested in it before but not crazy excited as I never beat BOTW. After seeing that trailer… it has me super hyped and I’m probably gonna restart and finally beat BOTW.

It’s definitely looking like one of the farming games of all-time.

I’m currently on a game purchasing freeze and I never actually beat Breath of the Wild. I hit like 35-40 hours and the game got repetitive to me but I had a ton of fun during the time.

Over the summer I’ll go back and properly beat it, even if I have to use a guide. I’ll get around to picking up Tears of the Kingdom sometime after that.

@Nanami_Ataraxia Damn, well said haha. Transferring your Pokémon is a cool feature but like you said, unless you’re grinding for insane amounts of hours in a GameBoy game then it’s not very practical or even that much more helpful.

The important thing is that the game is still a blast to play with or without the feature. And yeah, I was shocked how well the game looked on my 75” TV with the upscaled resolution through NSO. Everything looks sharp and the animations are just as solid as I remember. It’s a blast to play this again!

@Nanami_Ataraxia Your comment is very accurate. Most people online complain how easy Pokémon is. Here is a more difficult version and most people are reluctant to try it. You don’t get the freedom of the main series games but if you’re looking for a competitive battling challenge… well, here it is lol.

I used to play all the time with the rental Pokémon as a kid as only my older brothers had copies of Red and Blue. I was the youngest so I was stuck with the rentals and still had a blast.

Loaded up the NSO app for the first gym leader challenge and had a ton of fun with the rentals yet again. It’s fun to see which Pokémon have certain moves.

Yes, they should add Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow to the GB NSO app. And yes, they should add transfer pack support to this game if they do. But hey, it’s still a lot of fun without that functionality. Don’t knock it til you try it.
