100% Getting: Princess Peach Showtime, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and Paper Mario TTYD

I’ll get Mario vs DK too but I’ll wait for a discount. I think the $50 price is a little steep.

• Insane microtransactions that are shoved down your throat and are almost necessary for MyCareer without insane grinding
• Introduction of paid season passes
• Removal of a story in MyCareer
• Basically nothing new game mode or gameplay-wise aside from Mamba Moments (which seem worse than last years Jordan Challenges)

Not only is it not worth upgrading from 2K23, but 2K24 is actually somehow WORSE than that game. You’re best off getting a cheap copy of 2K23 and updating the roster using the community feature.

It was a decent showing. Paper Mario really saved it at the end. Without it, I think people would’ve been really upset.

But I’m happy. I’ve been asking for a return to form for Paper Mario since Sticker Star came out in 2012. It’s been over a decade since I’ve been dreaming of either a new game in the old style or a remake of either of the original titles. Now, we have the n64 version through NSO and an HD remake of TTYD releasing… it’s kind of surreal for me!

The other thing that surprised me was how good Peach’s Showtime looked. It looks kinda like Yoshi’s Crafted World and Luigi’s Mansion 3 had a baby. Lots of creativity and I love the theming. I was intrigued before but now I’m hyped!

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (dropping the Dark Moon subtitle here in the states now) looked great too. I mean, it’s nothing crazy. Just an upressed version of the game. But it’s one of my favorite 3DS games so I’m stoked to play it on the big screen in HD. The 3DS feels cumbersome nowadays. I just might wait for a sale unless they really pump up the visuals between now and release.

I definitely want to play the Mario vs Donkey Kong remake but $50 is just too much for it. I enjoyed the GBA original back in the day but given its simplicity, I’m waiting for it to drop to $30 or so unless I can get it in a Buy 2 Get 1 sale.

And that’s about all I cared about. The new Contra game looks interesting, I suppose. But yeah, that’s about all I got.

@NIN10DOXD Oh jeez, I thought this would be a budget game but I just checked Nintendo’s site… it’s $50. This should’ve been $40 max, and even then I still wouldn’t have purchased it til it dropped to $20-$30 territory. A basic remake of a small (but good) GBA game isn’t worth that much.

@FoxyDude Agreed. New hardware is imminent. The easier to develop remakes like Luigi’s Mansion, Mario vs DK, and Another Code show that.

At least Paper Mario is a big game that looks visually impressive. But it still didn’t need as much attention in terms of game design as a new game.

@Jigglypuff439 Yup. The Peach game looking great and the TTYD remake really saved it to me. Otherwise it was very meh.

@N00BiSH I don’t mind remakes, but remakes of games that can easily be thrown onto NSO is what bothers me. I love this game but I don’t think I’d pay more the $30 for this considering I have the GBA original still.

I’ve been waiting almost 20 years for another traditional Paper Mario game… FINALLY!!!

This announcement made a mediocre direct into a fantastic one. I’m unbelievably hyped for this!

I’m pretty sure it’ll just be smaller stuff until the new hardware is revealed next year.

I'm gonna get it but only when I'm ready to play it. Kinda busy with some other games at the moment so maybe a couple weeks after launch. We'll see.

Just optimize 3 for the Switch 2, maybe even release a Splatoon 3 Deluxe, and focus on other game franchises for a bit. Splatoon 3 is a great game that should get multiple years of life.

I'm going to go back and forth between Mario and Toadette.

Damn, if these had OLED displays I’d actually consider picking one up. Really don’t like the idea of them going back to LCD, or at least basic LCD panels after having my Neo QLED TV and using my brother’s OLED Switch.

Seems like it’s good stuff. The Treehouse gameplay looked fun too. This and Spider-Man 2 dropping on the same day is a little overwhelming, though lol

Given Sonic reviews well, I’ll pick it up in the future when it’s cheaper. Mario is day 1, easily.

Tbh I was expecting 720p-900p 30fps. Seems like a solid port… but just a port. Lol.

I probably won’t watch it live but I’ll check it out. I think the game looks fun and promising so far. This is going to be one packed holiday season for all platforms.

I haven't played Unite in a long time but maybe I'll fire it up again this week. I remember having fun with it for a while.

It would make total sense for the other game to be Metroid... which is why it might not be cause Nintendo is silly sometimes. I'm guessing it is tho lol.

@Axecon Same. I’m still holding on hope for a Mystery Dungeon Explorers DX to get announced. That or just a new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon entirely.

They coulda just dropped all this on twitter and had a couple YouTube videos drop along with it.

Also, they should have Pokémon Presents only when they have an ample amount of substantial content. This year we probably didn’t need any. However, some years, one or even two could be warranted depending on what’s coming out.

Glad it’s finally here, though. Excited to play through the single-player modes and have some fun mini-game sessions with some friends.

My expeditions were insanely low. They were surpassed, I suppose. The DLC does look interesting. Nothing insane, but good. I’m also excited for Pokémon Stadium 2 finally showing up on NSO.

Presentation was way too long but hey, I’ll take what I can get given I went in expecting nothing lol.

If we’re gonna be drip fed spin-off titles, at least give us Pokémon Pinball.

I think it’ll launch with Metroid Prime 4, which will be a cross-gen game. A 3D Mario and/or Mario Kart 9 will launch for the holiday season.

I got this bookcase cabinet thing that has doors on it. So when it’s shut it just looks like a nice piece of furniture. Open it up, and it’s gaming galore. It’s a little cheap feeling but it does exactly what I need it to do.

Cool. I’m interested to see more of the DLC as I thought the main game was great (performance and visuals aside). I’m not expecting anything else from the Showcase, though.

It looks really good and reviews have say it’s great. I’m in no rush but I’ll snag it in the near future.

@Uncle_Franklin Same here. I can easily purchase them digitally or play them on Dolphin but I’d rather wait for the physical release so I can play them in HD on my living room TV… and I just prefer physical media when possible.

I have a lot of games in my backlog to play in the meantime but I find it really weird to release the physical remasters two months after 4.

I’m away but I brought my Switch. Won’t be playing much but when I do it’ll be some online Mario Kart and maybe Yoshi’s Crafted World.

I’ll snag a copy of Pikmin 4 sometime soon, the demo was great and reviews say it’s amazing!

What I’d like to see:

• Donkey Kong Country Returns 3: just reuse the game engine and a lot of assets from Tropical Freeze. That’s one of the best 2D platformers of all time and I don’t like waiting basically a decade between each Retro title.
• F-Zero World Circuit: all the tracks from the older titles brought into one game in HD. There should be a brand new story with new characters and vehicles… and hopefully online play that’s well done.
• Ice Climbers: this is gonna sound weird but imagine a cartoony version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, but obviously without guns and violence and a huge focus on 3D platforming. It would be cool to see a 3D platformer where the goal isn’t to beat a villain, but to try to scale up some of the craziest mountains in the Arctic or something.
• Star Fox : give Star Fox a game that isn’t a rehash of an N64 game, which itself is a rehash of a SNES game, which itself just felt like a short arcade game. A longer campaign with mainly all on-rail airwing stages, but maybe some on-foot, racing, and all-range combat sections thrown in there. You could even make the game open-world!
• Earthbound: Remake Mother 3 in a style similar to the Link’s Awakening remake. Then make a new one where everything is 3D but still has the charming story and gameplay of the original trilogy.
• Pokémon Pinball: if it’s anything like the other two (especially Ruby/Sapphire pinball), then this would be amazing. Those games were some of the best pinball games I’ve ever played. Hopefully they come to NSO.

None of these will happen but this is what I think would be cool lol.

Glad to hear it’s great. I picked up 3 (Deluxe) on a discount and I’m waiting for the physical release of 1+2 in September. Going to play through all three titles in order then snag 4 (given I like the games enough, which I’m sure I will. The demo for 4 was a ton of fun).

@LimitedPower Agreed. A collection of the GameCube era Sonic titles would be pretty cool to have on newer consoles. Both the enhanced Adventure titles, Heroes, and maybe a couple of the spin-offs like Riders and the Shadow game.

@FawfulDX Thank goodness Link will be playable in Mario Sunshine 2. That was my only gripe with the original.

@IceClimbersMain Same here. I love all versions of these games but now that I can play the GBA games on the TV there’s no reason for me to play any other version 😂. Just my personal preference but I love them.

I have a Series X with GamePass so I'll stick to playing FIFA/FC on there. But for Switch owners... this actually looks like a pretty substantial upgrade. The visuals look improved and the Frostbite engine brings smoother controls and animations. They're apparently also adding Volta which is very neat. My only concern is it might run at 30fps with these improvements.

It took them 6 years but I'll give this to them... good job, EA.

Edit: Played a bit more before bed. Wiggler’s animations are crazy expressive and well done. They also made him a heavy weight (same weight as DK I believe) but put him in a medium sized cart like Metal Mario. Interesting. I raced as Petey and Kamek too and they both a lot of fun too. Great DLC wave!

@CharlieGirl Damn, didn’t know that. Looked up a few other sources and they seem to be similar statistics. Like I said, what I said was just a random thought based on who I personally know, it wasn’t supposed to be anything concrete. Glad to see gaming become more popular across the board for everyone!

Not to bring social or political issues into video games but I guess I’ll give my two cents at the expense of being hated lol. A lot of these are assumptions so don’t take any of this too seriously, just kinda a thought.

Nintendo is a software/videogame company. More men tend to play video games than women. So I’m sure they have more men applying than women, causing them to have more men employees. You need certain skill sets for certain positions, so if there are a lot more men applicants than women, you’ll tend to find a good amount of your talent from the larger pool (this being men).

Same goes for management. There are probably more men working there, so when an opportunity for a management position arises, they look at who is the most qualified. Sometimes it’s a girl, sometimes it’s a guy. But when you have more men in the applicant pool, statistics say it’ll be a guy the majority of the time.

Gaming and software are slowly becoming mediums with more women joining in, so I think we’ll see a rise in women employees and managers in these fields as time goes on. But yeah, it’ll take time. This has nothing to do with lower drive or intelligence, that’s not a thing imo. It’s just an industry where men are more interested and applying to these positions. And as stated, the gap is slowly changing over time which is neat.

As silly as this is app seems, I’ll definitely give it a go. I’ve been trying to get my sleep schedule back on track and it’s been pretty difficult.

I’m legit indifferent if a successor gets revealed soon. The extra horsepower would definitely be nice for resolution and frame rate increases, but I like the switch ecosystem and the steady game releases are making me happy. If anything, I’d like to see a Pro model, but who knows if that’s even on the cards at this point lol.

Seems fine to me. Decreasing the wage gap is good so everyone gets a fair salary but people also need pay jumps to incentivize working harder and tackling bigger challenges. Kind of a balancing act. I’m no expert in this field but I believe balance is key in this regard.

Tears of the Kingdom. Although I did really enjoy the Pikmin 4 demo so once I play through the full game, it’ll probably become my number 2.

Behind those two are Metroid Prime Remastered and Fire Emblem Engage. And we still have that 2D Mario to look forward to… 2023 is a fantastic year for Nintendo imo.
