Definitely due one!! It would be a very bad look for Nintendo not to have any of their release dates announced after Donkey Kong so soon into the consoles life. Just need to stagger the release dates for Hades 2, Silksong and Metroid I'll be over the moon for the rest of the year.
Whilst there doesn't seem to be a lot of love for Nirvana Initiative here, I actually preferred it considerably more than the first. I had issues with the tonal clashing, pervyness and out of place actions sequences but felt they were more restrained and consistent in the sequel without sacrificing the zaniness. The game was still horny but didn't feel problematic.
@sanderev I thought they had basically confirmed December for Age of Imprisonment?
Also worth factoring in we seem to be getting Switch 2 editions every month as well? Zelda in June, Mario Party DLC in July, Kirby in August. I'm hoping there is something else in August than Drag X Drive although if either Hades 2 or Silksong arrive around then it won't matter to me. Guess we'll have to wait for the next Direct to fill in the blanks!
I have put twice as many hours into Hitman as Mario Kart and have had no frame rate issues that have bothered me. I would thoroughly recommend it, there is enough content there to last for years if I wanted it to. Granted I've played predominantly on handheld and only the 1st game in the trilogy so far.
Joyous to see them back, even if they are likely to be pretty sidelined. This combined with the returning music tracks and challenge sections has cemented my confidence the game is embracing the series' history.
I suspect Link will be played by the actor from that TV series I heard good things about but haven't got round to, Zelda will be played by that one actor from Black Mirror and Ganondorf will be played by that obvious choice I can't believe I didn't think of.
Nick Offerman would make a great King Rhoam if they are going with Americans.
Returning composers and evidence that they are bridging the old classic hallmarks of DK with their new gameplay ideas. I'm a little dubious of Nintendo's willingness to fully embrace all the Kongtext of the Rare and Retro eras as they've all been out of house and non internal Japanese studios. I want to have these concerns squashed!
It's underwhelming but I've had fun in it. It's basically just an opportunity to vibe with the beautiful visuals and Mario series remixes. Absolutely should have NPC interactions, quests and better rewards though.
Reiterating multiple commenters hopes that this A) is less redundant than the MK direct was B) Doesn't push the next direct too far down the line (I don't think it excludes one FYI).
Also we better be getting some Wise or Kirkhope on this soundtrack! Returns had a couple of bangers on the OST but it definitely fell flat compared to the rare games IMO.
@RareFan I feel like we actually saw Expresso in the original trailer but agree that it would be nice to see more of our buddies back. Also let's cross our fingers for Dixie and Diddy before we start trying to resurrect the 1 off characters.
Don't share the gripe of the interconnecting tracks. For me it will give the game more longevity as it's less repetitive.
I preferred the continuous tracks like Mount Wario and Big Blue in 8 anyway, this feels like a natural evolution.
The game excels as a local and online multiplayer experience. What it failed to really do was expand into a satisfying Single player experience as well.
Good thing there are plenty of other games on Switch 2 to pick up that slack.
@TKundNobody @speed_loafer I found a use case! I took my switch 2 to a spa hotel I'm staying at this weekend. The TV has no apps so now my wife and I can't watch all the gaming showcases happening at the moment on YouTube together! Probably wouldn't have noticed it wasn't working for months otherwise so unlucky timing.
@JohnnyMind I've done the tutorial missions (which the game automatically funnels you through) and the first mission after that and I have access to it and a bunch of other elusive target missions from 'the archive'.
The online offline save issue sounds pretty absurd for a handheld console. Hopefully they can fix that. I've had a great time with the 2-3 hours I have put in so far and been amazed with how gorgeous this game looks in handheld. I have not noticed any frame rate drops but I didn't really notice it much in Echoes of Wisdom either. I hope you revisit the score if they do patch it because your 7 seems really harsh given the glowing prose you wrote.
This game is fantastic but I'm sure I'll be pretty happy to move on if I ever get every ending. I also don't want Uchikoshi to be tethered to mapping out Kodaka's madness the rest of his career.
Well with confirmed showcases for Xbox, Playstation and Keighley we have much greater odds than normal of a release date announcement this week. Besides, the fact the game will be playable in a museum in a few months really suggests we are weeks away at this point.
@Yoshi3 While I think the Xenoblade soundtracks are mostly god tier, your argument with X falls apart because those new LA themes and some of the battle themes became incredibly irritating (at least for me). Besides I suspect when converted into a playlist, only about an hour will be ambient and the other 10 will be traditional pieces. Go listen to the Colgera fight songs and tell me that doesn't scratch a primal Zelda loving itch!
We have no 1st party dates beyond DK, so I hope this is the case. There are 5 months of the year with no 1st party release dates so we at least need to know when Metroid, KirbyAR and Pokémon fit in that. Presumably Age of Imprisonment is December? I'm hoping Drag X Drive is not going to be the only 1st party game in whatever month that launches and that leaves us space for one more meatier unannounced game.
There are also release dates for Silksong and Hades 2 that I'm particularly hyped for.
This seems like the next logical expansion and all the groundwork in the central areas certainly implies intent! Hopefully we get this in the UK as well, although that's going to be excruciatingly far into the future.
I have been feasting on Hundred Line. If anything my playtime in all other games and platforms has gone down. If it wasn't for that I'd be putting the finishing touches to my Switch 1 (purchased) backlog.
Hopefully Hundred Line has been doing well on the digital store front and overseas. It's obviously a fairly niche game so I don't really know what kind of numbers it would need to hit to be a success.
Hopefully it will grow in reputation as more and more people pick it up.
I think I'm slightly obsessed with the game right now. I'm seeing the attack radius shapes when I close my eyes XD
Just passed the 'half way point' in Hundred Line, that's the main focus. Also doing a bunch of the Emblem Paralogues in Engage before entering the final stretch of the campaign.
Camaraderie between these teams is so great to see!
The game is great, please do give it a go folks!
@Kraven
See where you are coming from about the characters. A lot of them feel like very irritating people. I nly really liked a couple of them off the bat. I do think the game does a good job of making you feel some agency over their growth though. I don't know if you will have reached any Persuasion missions yet?
@Dev-N Yeah pretty sure that is what the virtual game cards are for. Just don't use the system transfer as that basically wipes your current switch (it's basically designed for trade ins).
@BrazillianCara I suspect he is just a perennial narcissist and social climber. He will say he is friends with them if it gets him clout, access to fancy parties and sports tournaments. Some of those people see through his bs though.
Waiting on IO to open pre orders so I can judge whether the physical version is reasonable. Looking forwards to this, MKW, Deltarune and GameCube nostalgia at launch!
@Bucky I put so many hours into the multiplayer in Nightfire. The remote controlled Sentinel rockets were so much fun. Don't understand why more people don't celebrate it the way they do Goldeneye.
Yeah, we've come a long way with this service. Its been great having a library of multiplayer N64 games to crack out and it's nice finally being able to play games from the GBA which I missed completely growing up. Can't wait to play GameCube games on NS2!
@Smithicus Largely agree. I do think Dk94 is still worth a go (push through the super early stages) and puzzle games seem to hold up fine for me.
To any Fire Emblem fans who aren't into Engage. I do want to point out that there are great remixed battle themes of every other game in the series (except maybe Heroes?).
Still working through this game myself and the music is not one of areas the game stumbles on. This is probably the best addition for me since Skyward Sword!
@Jhena I'm expecting them to have a 'content' rollout plan for a year or two (like animal crossing) but I'm not expecting them to charge for it. Would that put you off?

Still loving it. I'm probably about 80 hours in and have done 3 of the 'second playthrough' routes.

This was a great deal for digital games, particularly for those that never go on sale.
I managed to get Pikmin 4 and ToTk at launch for £84.

I guess this is as good a time as any although maybe this would be a Nintendo Direct announcement instead.

Maybe it's an indicator that the movie is going to use the character designs of Twilight Princess as the basis for the costumes?

Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited At All For Switch 2 GameChat?
