There is a game mechanic around collecting heads you can shoot off. Certain guns cause enemies to ... rupture/detonate?
You can do this to certain allied NPC characters as well. Some of the boss fights use dismemberment as a mechanic as well.

It would't explain an 18 rating by modern standards but it is more gory than Metroid for sure.

I set up my N64 for the first time in about 10 years to play this and have just got to the final level.
I assumed this was never going to come to the service!
Game is great and has held up better than I expected. The machine gun is one of the most satisfying guns in gaming imho.

No massive wins but lots of detective/mystery games which made the whole thing appealing for me. Outer Wilds looks surprisingly rough from the footage though...

Love OoT but just don't see that working as a single film.
Wind Waker seems like the sensible choice. Aludes to previous legends, main characters has a grounded family dynamic and is motivated by that for the first part of the story. Tetra would be a great companion/foil. Includes both Zelda and Ganondorf in meaningful ways.
It's world would be look distinctively different as well.

I'd see value in doing the Age of Calamity part of BOTW but writing in Ganondorf instead of Calamity Gannon.

Cross gen seems very sensible to be fair.
I've been imagining they will lean on Metroid Prime 4 to showcase what the new system is capable of and to inspire the core demographic to pick it up the console at launch.
I feel like the series is more of a system seller thanks to its prestige and clout than something that is ever going to sell in the tens of millions.

It's not bad but it's just remakes (mostly of Mario spinoffs) and Peach (no way Metroid is a switch game at this point). I'm fairly intrigued with Peach Showtime because I still can't work out exactly what it is.... Do we even know what team is making it?

Wes Ball as director is an unknown quantity to me, not inspiring but not troubling.
... Derek Connolly as a writer though...
Skull Island, Jurassic World, Rise of Skywalker and Detective Pikachu all suffered from shallow characters at the expense of trying to manufacture nostalgia. This film is absolutely going to be a box ticking exercise.

Best case scenario is the soundtrack slaps.

If true it would be pretty amusing that someone who has spent a decade copying Jack Black's voice (for Po) is voicing Bowser's nemesis.

Not an actor I've crossed paths with much but he was good in Arcane.

Whoah. Hopefully this is a sign of creative differences rather than some scandal about to surface.

I share your hopes. He's been on the record saying Capcom have been the block on that. You never know he could end up working on titles in partnership with them again.

At time of writing (after the announcement of the remake) TTYD is no 1!
I assume this is in part because of the high barrier to entry nowadays.
Hopefully Nintendo will get round to a Radiant Collection so I can finally experience that as well!

Some cool stuff for sure. F-Zero 99 is great fun. Peach looks legit, cool to see stuff like Another Code R getting a second life.
As excited as I am to get a chance to play 1000 year door it's honestly baffling to me that they choose to reveal this while we already have a remake of Mario RPG on the way. As someone who is curious about both I'm almost certainly going to skip one of them now.

Rayman Legends probably is my favourite 2D platformer. Back in the Wii U dark ages I spent hours in the demo trying to get gold and platinum medals in the online competitive levels.

I'd also say it was the best game pad use alongside Zombi Unand Nintendo Land.

I can tell it will be fun but it didn't do much for me. Character roster is cool, badge system seems like it could be interesting, although unlikely to change up exploration that much.
I like the new expressive character models but the game itself looked more like a refresh than anything revolutionary. Maybe because the world themes seemed uninspired?

I don't really know what it would take to get me excited in a new 2D Mario game to be honest but I'm glad it's doing it for other people.

Charles has been the voice of Mario my whole gaming life.

I'm not against the move per say, better to do it as part of a wider refresh of the series than time forcing their hand.

Maybe there will be an increase in VA across the series as a result.

I had this with a demo used to play at a particular friend's house.
It was a PS1 isometric/3d fighting game where one of the characters was a flying cyborg with bombs and another was a velociraptor.
It was called the Unholy Wars but I've never heard any one else ever bring it up since

I'm over 200 hours and must be close to completing now, having just got the 5th sage.
Missing about 10 shrines and lightroots, and 5 sages wills which I will try and do before the finale.

Honestly, given we are getting Mario Wonder, Mario RPG and Peach in the next 6-9 months a new 3d Mario seems a bit excessive.
I hope that team is trying there hand at Donkey Kong like the rumour suggested.
Wouldn't surprise me if that Peach game is a cross platform launch game.

I think we'll see MP4 when we first see the console but it won't be a launch game.

No you're not. I'm at least curious about most those first party games but I don't see myself picking any of them up myself.

Not short on games to play however so very content to just work on my backlog.

The speculation is fun but I didn't even buy the second wave.

I'd much sooner Sakurai worked on a Kid Icarus sequel or something new for him.

I also feel the next game needs to be more a fundamental reboot as there is no way I can see them building on Ultimate.

I'm guessing a lot of people like me haven't finished it so haven't rated it yet. It will be getting a 10 here unless the end pisses me off somehow.

My personal take on that would be that the majority of people like me come to NES games late out of curiosity and to educate themselves.
I don't think many people are then going to find that they would rate these experiences as 9 or 10s given all the advancements the medium has made. I think beyond Mario, only Punch Out and Kirby have really clicked with me.

Bias is probably also exacerbated by this being a UK site where the NES was never that big.

What a tragedy. Legends is a rare game I continue to go back to and I am exceptionally greatful to his contributions.

I adore this game and it absolutely deserves another chance to soar (sorry not sorry).

Sakurai's candid comments about the lack of port and sequel progress are probably emotionally healthy for me to hear despite how upsetting they are.

Other than Metroid Prime 4 I don't think there is a nintendo announcement I'd be more excited for.

Xenoblade chronicles x is a weird one and is my least favourite entry in the series.

I loved the first game but was a little jaded by 2's more tropey anime styling/humour and a lot of the character designs(particularly Blades).

Own 3 but not tried it yet 🤞.

I'd honestly recommend Torna as the best way to try the series due to its smaller scale, lower price and tighter focus. It reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the series.

How pervy / 'fanservicey' is this game?
It hasn't looked egregious from the trailers but I'm wary of this team after the direction Danganronpa went down.

Man that Bugs Life game looked so exciting to me from the back of a cereal box when I was a kid 🤣

The original wasn't a personal10 for me but it has stuck with me vividly for over a decade and I thoroughly recommend it to everyone who is open to unique and novel games.
My wife will be picking this up after constant recommendations for years and I'll enjoy getting to revisit it with her 😊

The UK government actually leaked that some of this was happening. In the context of gaming streaming services they confirmed the Nintendo Online service was available.
I'd almost guarantee that everything in your Online subscription is available on the next console.
Digital/ physical purchase compatibility is the biggest question mark.

High budget metroidvania from the Rayman Legends team with a focus on making a great switch version.
Didn't need the PoP licence to be all in on this but it's a cool bonus.

Oh yeah, never got round to Nmh3. Always exciting to see what these loons are working on though.

To be honest I'd only tried it with Hetsu and he didn't react like he did in BOTW.
Noticed people calling me out for the Yiga mask though.

Out having a great time on our honeymoon in Canada otherwise the hype would be destroying me.
My wife bought a switch and we've both predownload so we can play simultaneously.
SO PUMPED!!

Loved the original on Wii U. Will be adding to my watch list for sure.

XC2's soundtrack was glorious but I never gelled with the story or combat of X or 2 and was falling out of love with the series.
Somehow Torna's refinements and character focus delivered on everything I'd been missing.
I'm hoping 3 will sit similarly well with me!

Is it safe for me to watch this trailer having played 1 + 2 +T but not 3?
I saw that it takes place prior to 3 but wanted to check first.

Other than the obvious, be nice to find out what on earth is going on with Outer Wilds and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

I think WW Ganondorf is the most interesting from a writing angle.
My favourite design might actually be Hyrule Warriors though 🤯

Preferred Awakening too but Fates (LE) ended up being my most played 3ds game by a wide margin.
Don't sleep on Valentia, I picked it up a year or so late and loved it.

I'd be interested in comparing scores for people coming to this fresh and returning players.
I hope there are lots of people playing this for the first and still falling in love with it.

Such a remarkable game for its era!
I'll definitely get this soon but don't want to derail what I'm currently playing.

I wouldn't overthink it.
Link's Awakening was on the 3ds and Switch and they remade that.
Metroid 2 was on the 3ds and that got a remake on the same console as well.

Some amazing stuff in here, although I was so sure Silksong was going to feature that when the TotK trailer came up at the end I got briefly frustrated 😖

It's rare I audibly gasp during directs but having this return was just a treat!
Been wanting to play this one with the wife for about a decade now!

I married Lucina. She is one of the most interesting and strong female characters in the Nintendo pantheon imo.
I actually started replaying Awakening a few weeks ago but have swapped genders. Might go with Stahl?

Cordelia seems like a really sad choice given that she is so clearly in love with someone else.

Presumably at this point this game is in the final testing and QA phases so would expect the Team Cherry Art people to have moved on to what's next.
Total faith in these devs to deliver.
