Re: Talking Point: Who Did You Marry In Fire Emblem: Awakening?

AJWolfTill

I married Lucina. She is one of the most interesting and strong female characters in the Nintendo pantheon imo.
I actually started replaying Awakening a few weeks ago but have swapped genders. Might go with Stahl?

Cordelia seems like a really sad choice given that she is so clearly in love with someone else.

Re: Talking Point: 15 Years On, Should Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary Return?

AJWolfTill

I had fun with World of Light and was probably a better way of structuring a smash bros campaign than SSE.
However, given how glorious the opening cinematic and the character reveal trailers were, it felt like a massive slap in the face to me that there was next to nothing after this (at least there were boss fights).

I massively crave some sort of Nintendo All Stars story mode like we got from SSE, but I am happy for this to be spun out from the smash bros fighting series so the gameplay is a better fit.

A turn based/strategy RPG or a multiversal Kid Icarus Uprising sequel would be my ideal.

Re: Back Page: Why Don't Nintendo Games Get Gritty TV Shows? Here Are Some Pitches

AJWolfTill

Some Kid Icarus Uprising spoilers ahead.

You already have humanity going to war over a lie, nuclear style bombs going off and the majority of humans being wiped out.

But let's go even further and change the Chaos Kin arc so that Pit is unable to free Palutena from its control without killing her. Maybe he can't go through with it and instead has to watch as the chaos kin continues to tear down the mortal and immortal realms racked by guilt that his actions led to its escape.
After it comes to light that Dark Pit is in fact the original version and Pit has been a copy who was given fake memories by Palutena to guarantee his loyalty he gains new resolve.

The two Pits eventually team up to end the Chaos kin/ Palutena's reign of terror. In the aftermath of the battle the chaos kin strikes Dark Pit down from the heavens and with the last of her strength Palutena grants Pit one last use of flight to save him. As in the game Pit exceeds his limits to save Dark Pit and his wings burn up in the process leaving him fatally injured.
The two say their goodbyes in the ruins of the mortal realm.

Re: Nintendo Provides A Look At Switch's Games Line-Up For 2023

AJWolfTill

Well Fire Emblem should keep me occupied for at least a month, Rain Code and Cereza Origins are potentials depending on reviews with Persona 4 to fall back on.
Add in a likely Silk Song release (Microsoft included it in their coming in next 12 months over the summer) and I should be very sated before Zelda sweeps everything else aside ❤️

Re: Feature: The 15 Best Zelda Bosses, Ranked

AJWolfTill

I'd drop Tentalus for sure. Whilst the build up, atmosphere and setting are great, the design is horrendous and it ends up just being a use your new item to hit the boss in the vibrant eye weak point affair.... Zelda 101. A better version of this would be the Helmarok King from Wind Waker.

I'd have to vote for the inclusion of Goht as well. It's a very distinctive fight, being as much a chase as a battle and one I would come back to over and over just for fun (I guess I'd drop Dark Link due to the fact they are an S tier mini boss rather than a boss)

I don't know whether I would swap anything else here out but think Ghirahim and Demise deserve some love too.

Re: Feature: The Top 15 Legend Of Zelda Dungeons Of All Time, Ranked

AJWolfTill

I think Twilight Princess has the best hit rate with dungeons.
Turning the Temple of Time into a dungeon was an inspired move imo and might be my favourite from that game.

It's a pretty unusual structure; a linear gauntlet of circular rooms and staircases, but the fact that you get to dismantle all the traps and barriers on your return journey is immensely satisfying.

Would shout out Eagle Tower from Awakening, Temple of the Ocean King, Lanayru Mining facility and the Water and Spirit temples from OoT. Most the handheld dungeons blur into one in the memory.

Re: Backlog Club: Exploring The [REDACTED] And Finding The [REDACTED] In 'Inside'

AJWolfTill

@KateGray Woops, but late to the party but this ended up on my tab backlog (even tabs have these now 🙄) .

“Although these two games are not (as far as I know) narratively linked... “

So I don't know if it's explicit but there is a maggot-thing attached to the aggressive pig in Inside who behaves completely differently after you remove it.
I always saw this as a link to a similar maggoty thing that affects the player and a few other NPCs in Limbo.
I interperated that Naughty Corp has been trying to use these in their mind control experiments.
Been a few years since I mindlessly speculated about this game so thanks!

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Responds To Online Backlash In Ongoing Dispute

AJWolfTill

I do feel bad for Hellena for the situation she is in. Furthermore I don't think it hurts for the industry to reflect on whether voice actors are appropriately valued and she clearly believes that she is.

However lashing out at Jennifer Hale for taking on the role was always unjustifiable in this situation.

Furthermore, with all this additional context it seems to me that Platinum actually tried to do right by her by increasing their offer by 50‰ then offering her money for a smaller role.

She seems to have some unrealistic expectations about how lucrative this series is and what she is owed.

Re: Memory Pak: 50 Shades Of Morally Grey In Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward

AJWolfTill

@Takoda
Not that you're short on responses but it's definitely worth it.
It wasnt a strong closing for the trilogy and is my least favourite but its still full of great ideas.
The cast is largely split into three groups of three. I would argue that the stuff following the three "returning" cast members from VLR hits the heights of the previous games.

Re: Soapbox: Ace Attorney: Trials And Tribulations Is The Perfect Tragedy

AJWolfTill

Yes T&T is probably my favourite game in the series and Dahlia is probably its best antagonist. It goes to some dark places that feel earned, and the game actually feels more cohesive as a result of the throughline story.
I think it helps that its the first game with multiple protagonists.
I think the only other games that comes close to making every case justified are the Great Ace Attorney games. I was really impressed by those last year!

Re: Best 3DS And Wii U DLC You Should Get Before The eShops Close Forever

AJWolfTill

@GravyThief
Hard disagree! It's my least favourite of the modern FE games, suffers by having far too many characters, the generational stuff is nonsensical and a somewhat unsatisfying story but the game is still great. The core gameplay is refined over awakening and the music is excellent.
I put more hours into it than any other 3ds games across the three routes...
Maybe it's Stockholm syndrome then! 😅

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

AJWolfTill

Metroid 2 was my first ever Nintendo game (alongside Wave Race) and possibly the first video game I ever played! I got it bundled with the Gameboy Pocket on my 6th birthday.
Naturally this series is hugely important to me although it took me about 7 years before I actually completed it.
