Because I was a kid at the time, the NES and SNES launch libraries are my favorite launch titles. The NES had a little bit of everything available and the SNES, while releasing far fewer titles at launch, were fantastic. Packing in Super Mario World alone makes it a stellar start
Nintendo's Wii Shop had music in 2006. To be fair, I spend a lot of time on Sony's PS Store and it doesn't have tunes, but Nintendo using music back in the day just felt more fun. They could've just recycled the same tune for every console and I'd have been happy
At this point, the bad seems to outweigh the good, but I have sincerely loved every Nintendo console I've ever owned. I'm not happy about leaping from 60 to 80 for games. The industry will likely see Nintendo get away with it and follow suit, even for broken, unpolished titles. It wouldn't be such a big deal if Nintendo could offer the same amazing sales and discounts the Playstation Store sees regularly, even for AAA titles. We'll all just have to see with sales numbers what consumers globally are willing to spend
If we were in a relationship with Nintendo, they would employ what psychologists call 'withholding'. Want a new F-Zero, Star Fox, or a port of HD titles from the Wii U? Want a US release of Mother 3? So sorry, you're out of luck, but don't you dare emulate it!
We're getting ripped off. No game for a system that looks to finally be able to keep up with the last console generation's graphical abilities should be 80 dollars, and that's just for a Mario Kart World box that has a cart inside with no game on it. It unlocks a download. I've picked up every Nintendo system since the NES was new, but this might be 'buy in a couple years' kind of console. Unless there's a new Zelda to get excited about, I'm not all in
This game is a freaking masterpiece. Though I grew up when the SNES was new, I somehow missed this gem and didn't experience it until my late 20s, but it's been a staple in my retro game rotation ever since. Just a phenomenal title I still judge modern RPGs by
The tariff thing is beyond stupid. Consumers have to eat the cost. That's just how it works. Try explaining that to America's president. I don't think he can explain tariffs, let alone spell tariff
Privilege... compared with other console cycles, I do feel privileged to have been part of the NES and SNES customer bases. But not Switch. It may be the Nintendo console I've played the least in my lifetime. Were it not for Zelda titles, I'd have barely spent any time with it
Nintendo generally refuses to offer its classic titles in any kind of compilation to buy. After the Wii U and 3DS, it stoped allowing fans to purchase them digitally by abandoning the VC service. Now they only offer them with their online service and attack anyone who turns to emulation, which fewer would do could they legitimately buy these older titles. The solution is Nintendo Online with the option to purchase titles you really enjoy. But, you know, that makes up too much sense
I work at an elementary school. When Sonic 3 came out, my kids were pumped. There was a buzz. They were drawing characters from the film. No one is talking about the Minecraft movie
Supremely underwhelming. We knew it would be a bigger Switch. It's bigger. It showed a glimpse of one game which wasn't, by any means, a graphical leap from Mario Kart 8 which launched in 2014. I've no doubt the Direct will get me pumped, but right now, it's a bigger Switch
Without tech specs it's a bigger Switch. Consumers who don't follow gaming news like us will be pretty confused. Waiting to be blown away by the launch lineup, but for now, it's just a bigger Switch
I like that it's backwards compatible. Most of my games were digital purchases. If Nintendo lets me re-download them on the Switch 2, I'm in. If they want me to buy them all over again, I'm out until we see a compelling new games lineup
Emulation is an incredible tool for folks who want to have their entire retro libraries in one place, but folks shouldn't be emulating current gen. Piracy isn't Nintendo's doing, but if they managed to ever make a current gen system that was actually current gen, it would be nearly impossible to emulate properly during the current gen. The Switch, for instance, doesn't require a powerful PC to emulate, because it's just not a powerhouse system
I did pre-order from Amazon way back in the 2010's. At the time, they were offering a discount on all video game pre-orders for Prime customers. It must not have been a profitable move for them, they ditched that amazing perk pretty quick. It was a source of stubborn pride holding onto that one mighty old pre-order, I'm sorry to see Amazon throw in the towel and admit they have no idea when it's coming
Visually, looks great, but Trek hasn't been great since before the Abrams reboots and good Trek games before that were still few and far between. Judgement Rights and A Final Unity remasters would be better
I enjoyed Club Nintendo. For a while there you could pick up unused codes from eBay. Cheap, too. Got a lot of great rewards that way. I live in the US and the physical rewards were always more impressive in Japan. It was Club Nintendo that taught me Nintendo will always favor Japan
@Ultimapunch I agree. I was a kid when the franchise was brand new. Back then, my friends and I never talked about game order. By the time we got to ALTTP on SNES, it was clear these were a different Link and Zelda, almost as if over time the main characters will re-emerge to fight a never ending battle. We kind of just went with it. I think game order matters in direct sequels only. I wish the official timeline wasn't a thing, but appreciate others enjoy it
@koffing You bring up some great points. I'm with you on the script, it's super weak, but I am glad your kiddo is enjoying it. As an adult, there didn't seem to be much here for whereas other Lego titles like Star Wars - The Skywalker Saga I thoroughly enjoyed. Perhaps if this title sells well, there will be an adaptation of Forbidden West that corrects a lot of this titles mistakes
I'm a few hours in and, man, is it ever average. Visually, it's great, but the gameplay itself offers very little variety. There's no collectibles to find. No red bricks to unlock the usual cheat codes. It feels like a lackluster effort. The script isn't funny. Hearing these characters act as if they've downed a bag of sugar is weird, having played and enjoyed the regular Horizon titles. Still unsure who this is for. A Lego game based on a longer running video game property like Zelda, for example, would have been a lot more fun. At this price point, wait for the inevitable 'permanent sale' price all Lego games have with time
While I'm not the biggest Atari fan, this is an incredibly well done compilation. It should set the standard for these kinds of releases. Can you imagine if Nintendo would bother to put one together for its classic titles? Even if it was just first party, it would be a treasure trove of manuals, boxes, ads, etc.

Tried it, deleted it for space. I'd rather get my Nintendo news from your page and Nintendo's socials
Re: amiibo Could Be Getting A Price Hike, According To GameStop Listings (US)
I'd go up to 20 for an amiibo I really like the design of, but no higher

Re: Hands On: Should 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Be A Pack-In Game?
Of all the recent announcements, this one, a tech demo costing players extra cash, may be even greedier than 80 bucks for a Mario Kart game

Re: Uh Oh, Switch 2's Home Screen Looks Just As Bland As We Feared
I expect some level of visual pizazz for a $450 console. Heck, my PS3 had a more dynamic home screen in 2006
