@ImmortanJho Trek used to be aspirational and suggest that we can get through this to a better future. But yeah... I hear ya, bud. Things aren't looking so good right now. To me, it makes optimism all the more important, and not much of our entertainment reflects that. I could be mistaken, but the last time entertainment in general seemed this doom and gloom was when we were coming out of the Vietnam era. Star Wars came along and upended everything in film. Maybe we need something like that today to come along and remind us that morality isn't a lost cause

@NintendoWife You nailed it. Every character is struggling with some past trauma. There are no grand ideas. In this version, you can clone Data from a single positron. We saw Picard's father in an old TNG episode. If you Google 'Picard's dad', it's the first hit. The writers of Picard didn't even bother to do that. I dug the actor they used in this week's ep... but Picard's dad never wore a DS9 uniform with a Voyager badge because all of that came decades later for him. It's just dumb sci-fi that doesn't even respect the source material

@johnvboy Yeah, Lucas is definitely a "write the plot and let someone else do the dialogue" guy. I've learned to appreciate the prequels and hope to feel the same with the Disney films in time. I don't see myself forgiving how the legacy characters were treated. Han walked into a lightsaber and Luke gave up on life. Just once I'd like to see a continuation where the legacy characters got to go off and have good lives. Have you checked out the new game? I'm having a blast with it
