Re: 8BitDo Announces 'NES40 Collection' Of Peripherals, And They're Up For Pre-Order Today

I picked up two of the speakers years back, though this may be an updated version. They were dirt cheap at the time, but I like the look. Less sold on the rest of the items, especially the keyboard's pricing, but it's great to see the NES celebrated, it's still one of my all-time favorite consoles. My folks got me the Deluxe Set back in what I think was 1986, as it wasn't yet widely available during the Christmas of 85, and it had a huge impact one me. It's when I truly fell in love with video games

Re: Opinion: I'm Celebrating Super Mario Bros.' 40th Anniversary By Finally Finishing It

Don't be too hard yourself. I was about 6 or 7 when the original SMB released. I was gifted it when it was brand new. I loved it, great game and more impressive than what had previously been available for an at-home experience. But I turned my nose up at older titles, the ones that existed before I was born, and to this day I've still scoffed at giving some of them a try. Funny thing about SMB was that even when a "better" version was released in the 16-bit era, I preferred the original's sprite work. It was more charming to me than the updated and modern All-Stars revisions. I beat this one back in the day, but man, I definitely needed the infinite 1-UPs trick. Glad you tried this one again!

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

Having lived through every Nintendo launch since the NES, this one feels pretty underwhelming in terms of heavy hitters being present. I enjoyed Mario Kart, but after a couple weeks, I was ready for something more substantial. DK landed, which I'm still playing through slowly. If I were a younger me, say teens or 20s, I'd feel pretty let down. As a gamer in his 40s who doesn't have the gaming time he once had, the rate of 1st party drops is great. But I'm not the target demo. Nintendo needs to up their game here

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With A Mouse Game

I'm embarrassed to say I couldn't figure out the controls. I tried Joycon 2, is said I was Player 2, so I tried Joycon 1, and it worked as a mouse cursor, but I couldn't figure out which buttons are the two mouse buttons. It was awkward to hold. Is there a Mouse adapter I'm missing? Something to clip on the JoyCon?

Re: Donkey Kong Might Be Getting His Own Movie

From a storytelling perspective. StarFox, F-Zero or Metroid would make more interesting feature films, but if you're looking for a recognizable IP that could make for a wacky, colorful adventure aimed at younger viewers, this is probably the best bet

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Controller - The Return Of The King

Funny you posted this, I was just online with Nintendo's customer support asking about the Switch 2's support for the first replica controller they released, the NES pads. You could only charge them by docking them with your Switch 1 and charging them in place of the Joy-Cons. I explained this feature to both Nintendo support reps and asked how I can charge them for use with my Switch 2 now that I traded in my 1 to help fund the 2. The first rep explained to me that the NES controllers are out of stock. I shook my head and tried a second human who didn't do much better. Are the old NES pads able to charge on a Joy-Con charging station for Switch 1? Meanwhile, on topic, I dig the GC pad for the Switch 2, but it definitely feels different in my hands than my original Gamecube controllers. I hope they expand the line for diehards, I'd love an NES Advantage to use with Nintendo Online's NES offerings

I'm still not buying this thing. I'm old enough to remember NES pack-in titles. SNES pack-in titles. Game Boy pack-in titles. Wii pack-in titles. You think Wii Sports as an included title would have convinced Nintendo that pack-ins out of the goodness of Nintendo's heart can move a lot more product over time, with the perceived value being greater. Some things you do as a video game company to reward your fanbase, not shake them down for additional cash

Re: The Switch 2 Won't Have Achievements Or eShop Music

sleepinglion

Nintendo's Wii Shop had music in 2006. To be fair, I spend a lot of time on Sony's PS Store and it doesn't have tunes, but Nintendo using music back in the day just felt more fun. They could've just recycled the same tune for every console and I'd have been happy

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal

At this point, the bad seems to outweigh the good, but I have sincerely loved every Nintendo console I've ever owned. I'm not happy about leaping from 60 to 80 for games. The industry will likely see Nintendo get away with it and follow suit, even for broken, unpolished titles. It wouldn't be such a big deal if Nintendo could offer the same amazing sales and discounts the Playstation Store sees regularly, even for AAA titles. We'll all just have to see with sales numbers what consumers globally are willing to spend

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

sleepinglion

We're getting ripped off. No game for a system that looks to finally be able to keep up with the last console generation's graphical abilities should be 80 dollars, and that's just for a Mario Kart World box that has a cart inside with no game on it. It unlocks a download. I've picked up every Nintendo system since the NES was new, but this might be 'buy in a couple years' kind of console. Unless there's a new Zelda to get excited about, I'm not all in
