The mediocre lineup on the compilations isn't worth the 70 bucks. Most of my favorite Konami arcade titles were licensed. The Turtles, Cowboys of Moo Mesa, Bucky O'Hare, etc.
I loved 2. It was my entry point to the series, and after playing through 1, my favorite. Way more fun with way more polish. Pre-ordered this one in 2018 on franchise name alone. Thankfully, the reviews have been positive
I think it's helped draw attention to how little voice actors can earn in gaming, but I've had this on pre-order since 2018 when some retailers opened the order window for a short time. It may be pride, but I'm not cancelling it. For Bayonetta fans who wish to play the title without supporting the company, there's always going the used route or borrowing a friend's copy. Some libraries even carry video games these days
We will never see a Kid Icarus film because Nintendo doesn't see it as a viable franchise. Uprising was spectacular, and then... nothing. At the very least, an HD upgrade of it for Wii U or Switch, but they didn't even drop an lazy upscaled port
It never makes anyone's list but mine, but I love the finale music from A Link to the Past. The triumphant march that seques into a slow and beautiful version of the main theme. Kinda bummed the Symphony of the Goddess never tackled it
@ParadoxFawkes I hope so. I feel like in recent years (since the Wii days) they've tried to make a system that isn't as expensive as its competition. I'd like to see them bite the bullet and charge more for something with more oomph
I'd love a more powerful Switch. I spend a lot of time with my Steam Deck. Similar form factor, but it can handle AAA titles like Elden Ring. The Switch would have to stream it
I dig it. If Nintendo ever puts together a Zelda Classics collection, unused art like this belongs in the special features. I was a pretty young kid when the original came out. Back then, packaging worked on me and I grabbed the 1st Zelda for the box and gold cart alone and discovered my favorite gaming franchise
For all the spectacular advancements in video game tech since I was a kid, sometimes I'd trade it all for the days of an NES, SNES, Genesis or N64 cart. That was the game. No DLC. No constant updates because a lot of titles were released finished. I can't fault studios for cashing in if there's money to be made, but I'd rather drop down cash to buy a complete game where everything could be unlocked without further cash
While I love and respect his contributions, this particular version of the Mario voice is better suited for small doses in-game. A game-accurate voice portrayal of Mario, Toad and Peach would be a lot to take for 1.5 hours of screen time
I love my Deck. Great at Steam titles on the go, and sure, it emulates. A lot of things. Really well. If Nintendo didn't want their current gen console emulated, they should have made it more powerful under the hood. I love my Switch, but I my own purchased Switch titles look and run better on another device. Higher resolution and 60fps. Community graphics packs. Etc.
If this qualifies as unsettling, we've truly become a culture of wusses. Different, sure, but we haven't seen the dude in motion yet. Let's give the trailer a chance and freak out less. Save panic mode for things that are actually worth it
The poster helps a ton. I was worried they'd feel the need to put some sort of artistic spin on character models we've enjoyed for decades, but at first glance, this looks fairly close
I enjoyed the hack and slash Gamecube entries based upon the film trilogy. Wouldn't mind a remaster that fleshes out Fellowship into more than a Two Towers tutorial section
It only took 5 years for Nintendo to count upwards from 2 to 3. Now let's do it for Mario Kart 8, which some of us have been playing since its release in 2014
@electrolite77 I would have at least thrown Rad Racer in there, their NES attempt at 3D (with included glasses). Or maybe some Virtual Boy titles. But Urban Champion?
@electrolite77 I'm sorry we have to feel each other's pain. I'd say Nintendo, at times, isn't much better. They tried their own line of 3D Classics on the 3DS and led with heavy hitter Urban Champion. And they gave Kid Icarus backgrounds so they could do that one. No Super Mario, no Zelda, nothing that could really have jumpstarted the line
@Dimey I feel like when they do try, they do it wrong. There was a nice collection of 3D classics from Sega on the 3DS. A few arcade gems in there for sure. But the choices weren't their most popular titles. Same with the Sega Ages on Switch. Some heavy hitters, and some really bizarre choices, too, while once again leaving out their biggies. Arcade1UP has made one Sega cab and for their 1st outing they chose Golden Axe and its sequel, the Revenge of Death Adder, to headline, which were both overlooked on those collections I mentioned. It's almost like they're choosing what to do by throwing darts at an idea board
For folks who are pumped, that's awesome! But I don't want to support the idea of sequel micro consoles from the same console's generation. Were it a horrendous-looking Genesis with a 32X and Sega CD attachment with nothing on it but 32X and Sega CD games, that would really be something, but they had their chance with Genesis games last time. While some Sega CD titles are present here, it's not enough to make me part with 100 bucks. Sega should look into some kind of emulated collection like Capcom's Arcade Stadium. One for Genesis, another for Dreamcast, etc. Or heck, just their stellar arcade titles
I disagree with HD remakes from the SNES era. The graphical style is part of the charm. It is frustrating that the years back updated Chrono Trigger is available on Steam and mobile, but not on a Switch. I'd support widescreen versions of the titles you mention with some QOL improvements, but the titles I wish to see score HD upgrades are NES and GB ones. Like Link's Awakening. While the SNES pulled off some gorgeous visuals, things in the GB and NES days were still kinda creaky and would benefit the most from a makeover
Loved the original, but I refuse to support Apple Arcade. Let me buy the individual titles and I'm set, but subscribing just to borrow them is ultra lame
Glad to see they put in the effort! For collectors who often already have all the oldies they want in cart format or are emulation enthusiasts for arcade titles, what opens our wallets is presentation. Awesome job, Konami!
For a while there I was grabbing all the micro consoles. But they just sat around looking pretty. Another Genesis isn't what most fans were hoping for. They could have easily crammed most of these onto their first release. If it was just CD titles, that would be something. Make a micro Sega CD attachment, it'd be cute. Ideally, Sega would just put out some stellar compilations for modern platforms and PCs. Genesis, Dreamcast, Saturn, etc., which can all be emulate quite well
I can't think of a single reason he would have known. He never struck me as someone who even plays video games. I play loads, but I watch no sports, so I don't readily know the names of the best at sportsball stuff
Samus and I met back in 80s when the game was new. Nintendo Power wasn't a thing yet and there was no internet, so friends were our best resource. While visiting a friend of mine, he showed me Metroid and Kid Icarus, two titles I'd never heard of but suddenly had to own. The graphics were impressive at the time and I recall loving the atmosphere and fast-paced gameplay
I don't mind a sequel that isn't a huge step up from its predecessor, but Nintendo has used the "we couldn't think of a new way to play" excuse with denying titles like F-Zero a new entry. It feels hypocritical
Bless their little ninja hearts. It's nitpicky, but I'd like them to patch the vocal pitch of the Nutrinos. They sound like adults, whereas in the show they sounded like Oz munchkins
Waiting for a review. I grabbed the Castlevania and Contra collections at launch and was bummed with the video options. While there was a 'none' filter with looked great, there was no option to pair it with sizing. It didn't reach the height of my screen, if that makes sense, whereas Retroarch handled oldies the way I want for free. I'd rather pay for these classics, but I also want them to have more screen real estate

$4k is pathetic. Sure, for someone off the street with no prior training, it would be a nice paycheck. But for a legit voice actress? This is shameful
