It’s undeniably a great looking, well made game, with tons of details, stuff to scan. My only criticism (at maybe 6 hours in) is that it’s very linear. Any time I see a “side door”, I expect it to be a save room, and it almost always is. Would be nice if the maps had a few more paths to explore. Maybe they open up eventually?
Wow this is a good deal. In Canada it ends up being $81.50 + tax instead of $99.99. And then the other voucher could be used for Xenoblade X, which would be a great contender for a Switch 2 upgrade, hint, hint, Nintendo.
This is a great surprise! I still wish they'd give the villagers a little more depth though. More dialogue variety, have them do more things, make more interesting requests, interact with each other more, stuff that'll make you excited to see what they're up to.
Definitely X&Y. It was a first party game but didn't fully support stereoscopic 3D, and when it did, the framerate was pretty bad. The game was also really lacking polish in the UI department compared to the top tier UI designs from B/W and the sequels.
I’ve gotten into a habit of not attacking an enemy until it attacks me first. They’re just all so adorable and I feel bad taking the first swing haha.
And while the game is definitely hard, I feel like it leaves a much more lasting impression. Donkey Kong Bonanza was fun, but every boss encounter was a pushover, which made them all very forgettable. With they could have spent a little more time tuning the difficulty for that one.
I beat a super tough boss after many tries last night, and it was so satisfying. By the end it felt like I had mastered a new skill. And then I screwed up and lost like 700 rosaries to some chump enemy 😭
It’s kinda crazy to think anyone that likes video games hasn’t played this one yet.
I’ll admit I was skeptical about the hype it had early on. I went into it doing my best to prove to myself that it was highly over rated and came away from it certain I had played one of the most important games of my life. The soundtrack alone is worth the experience, but then it does such a fantastic job of mixing familiar things with some of the most creative, imaginative stuff I’ve ever seen in a game. Congrats on 10 years of inspiring people Undertale and Toby Fox!
@Desa I thought the exact same thing after watching that direct. I just paid $100 (CAD + tax) for Donkey Kong and there’s already a dlc that’s gonna be like another $40. Probably gonna skip on the next few Nintendo games or get em when they go on sale. (The new Pokémon already has paid dlc announced and it’s not even out yet!)
Then there were the Zelda Switch 2 editions. Thankfully I got them from the Switch Online membership cause they are absolutely not worth $15 plus tax. And the price of that old Kirby game with new content, $130? Nintendo you’re making it hard to stay loyal right now…
This was the highlight for me. Can’t believe we get Hades 2 so soon after Silksong, and the cost for both combined is still less than a Nintendo game. Cannot wait!
Not often something is priced cheaper than you’d expect. Guess I’ll be buying some merch from Fangamer 😁
Also respect to the devs for taking their time, creating the game they wanna make, and pricing it in a way that allows the most people to enjoy it. This is what making games should be about!
I played Elden Ring on the base ps4. It was 30 fps and had lots of bad framerate drops. I loved it and had a great time putting over 100 hours into it. I think the only thing that bugged me was the long load times due to the old hard drive in my ps4. Guess what I’m saying is framerates don’t make or break great game?
I wish there had been more Switch 2 updates for 3rd party games like Xenoblade (to really demonstrate the power difference), and making people pay for the Zelda updates (if they don't have the more expensive online) and welcome app was pretty lame, but otherwise I'm having fun.
@Asaki Oh yeah mine used to have regular colour options alongside HDR options, but they've recently disabled the regular options, either cause they're stupid and don't know they sold tvs that don't have good HDR support, or cause they want people to think their tv has terrible picture quality so they buy a new one.
Either way this should be the code you want:
Press the Home button five times, then Rewind, Down, Fast Forward, Down, and Rewind.
You'll see an option to disable HDR. (It's the only way to get the normal colour options back.) Once you turn it off everything will look way better. Also get used to doing it again every now and then, cause the last few updates have re-enabled it for me.
@Asaki do you have a roku tv? Lately mine hides the option to disable hdr after an update, making everything look bad. There’s a code to enter on the remote to access a secret menu where I can actually turn if off though.
If your tv was cheap, and “supports hdr”, just turn it off in the switch settings. Basically your tv can sacrifice colour fidelity for range, and you’ll get a washed out image.
I loved the PS4, but I think PS5 suffers from a little bit of "too much". The console design is too much (too fancy, too big), the actual UI of the firmware is too much (there are so many unnecessary options that get in the way of just playing a game and putting the thing to sleep), and the controller is just too much (too heavy, too much led, does too much to make the battery last a long time).

Re: "My Staff Have Had Customers Threatening To Rip Their Heads Off" - Retailers And Collectors Tell Of Pokémon TCG Woes
This is insane. I wonder if there's anything that can even be done at this point, and would Nintendo even do it as it would reduce demand a lot.

All of these games deserve Switch 2 editions, let’s goooo.
Re: Reminder: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Available With A Switch Game Voucher
@Wewewi nah that’s half the cost of the vouchers ($133/2 = $66.50) plus $15. Unless I’ve got something else wrong?

Re: Two Classic Donkey Kong Icons May Soon Join Bananza As Unlockable Figures
@rjejr don’t even get me started on the price difference between switch and switch 2 versions of the same game.
Re: Two Classic Donkey Kong Icons May Soon Join Bananza As Unlockable Figures
@rjejr I agree, this sucks. Time-sensitive is fine, but not if it's for an extra cost on a game that is already very expensive.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza's First DLC In-Game Event Kicks Off Next Week
Yeah this feels kinda scummy. I wasn't gonna get the DLC as it was, and might just avoid it out of protest for stuff like this.
Re: Anniversary: SNES Action RPG 'Terranigma' Is 30 Years Old Today, And It's Still A 10/10 In Our Book
I played through this for the first time last year. It definitely doesn't hold up to my memories of Soulblazer and Illusion of Gaia, but not bad.

This is definitely a feature. Can't drop the Switch 2 if it's got a firm grip on a chunk of your skin.
