Definitely interested! But that Castlevania collection JUST came out and it’s gonna keep me busy til Zelda, and that’s gonna keep me busy til Brothership, and then there’s Dragon Quest III…. Feb of next year I’ll get Bakeru for sure 😅

This is actually more than what I was expecting for the remainder of the year. Not sure why people think a 1st party Direct is gonna happen considering we have a Nintendo game per month until Dec.

$10 for a trio of retro games I’ve never heard of but it’s in a slick package? Sure. I’ll bite.

Famicom is my favorite. So much color variety on the cart and ample room for cover art.

As far as an interesting object, it wins hands down for me.

They mainly do it at the end of a life cycle to get one final squeeze from games that are about to exit alongside an outgoing system.

With the Switch it feels like the transition is going to be more seamless, the games will still be playable and they’ll want the games to maintain their value.

So, no I don’t think so.

@Not_Soos honestly, Spanky’s Quest is surprisingly good! It’s got an unusual mechanic of powering up your attack by bouncing a ball on your head, but once you figure it out it’s quite fun.

Been buying these when they’re discounted to half price, as they feel like $20 collections to me, not $40.

That being said, this seems to be the best compilation yet and will happily buy it… once it’s $20.

One of the key things I’m taking from this is Forever Entertainment has no clue how to compress (or develop). Their Panzer Dragoon remake was also way too big for what it was (and subpar game to boot)

I’m actually shocked Nintendo gave them the keys to DKC. This should be an easy port but I think it’ll be a bit botched.

Surprising amount of stuff I’m into! Two Tombas, Gex (the 3D games are terrible but a fun novelty) and Bubsy is kind of in the same camp of interesting/ cringey history.

Was on board with his channel since launch but the guy’s such a dedicated worker I couldn’t watch as fast as he created. His work ethic is inspiring and I don’t think he’s wired to take breaks, just shift projects.

I highly encourage people to beat 1 & 2 for the end music alone 👌

5 games is quite the update. Perhaps a premonition for a Mega Man release in the Direct??

I’m basically looking at the schedules of Gamefest, Xbox showcase and Ubisoft only to deduce when the Nintendo Direct might be 😂

Nintendo always goes last with a punch, so we know it’s at least after the 10th. And they probably want to be within the basic range of everyone else, soooo sometime between 11-13th? (Or the 18-20th frame if they’re really building up the hype.)

Besides having Famicom controllers, the cards are also superior in my opinion. Gonna hold off on the US version. My guess is I could get this eventually off EBay for $80/85

@themightyant What’s interesting is your comment lead me to Wikipedia to read the CEO’s background, and before video games the guy lead a Private Equity Firm, pulled an investor takeover, bought a majority share of Take Two and became CEO in 2007. This type of guy is absolutely about the bottom line and maximizing profit.

If an indie company is doing “just well enough” that’s not nearly enough.

Looks so dang good. Rewatching the trailer re-upped my enthusiasm.

Being an animal and nature enthusiast I want to support this type of game but to get me excited it really needs to nail the visual component, and based off what I’ve seen… it doesn’t. The animals move robotically, the lighting’s drab, the environments seem randomly thrown together….This could’ve been a great launch title for the Switch 2 and flaunt some beautiful imagery if they worked on it for a while longer and had some real horse power to back it up.

@LoroTalby nah, no one will fry you. It’s true. Extremely low poly + blurry textures are hard to come back to even for an N64 enthusiast like myself. I grew up on it and nostalgia can’t hide it.

That being said, many of ‘em still play great and no game has ever blown me away like my first playthrough of Mario 64.

Played through this game and had a blast. One of the best indies I’ve played.

Glad to see the tweak with the gatcha machine, I put a lot of currency into it and kept getting the same 2-3 stickers.

Cool update. A bit of a history lesson and always wanted to play R-Type.

As a gamer from the 80’s these updates are genuinely exciting. I still think of these as $60 games, so NSO is a great deal for me.

Thursday is a smart move. A lot of people order a new game to play during the coming weekend and with all the shipping hiccups that can happen to a new title, ordering a game online can mean missing the fun first weekend of playing for some folks.

We got Blast Corps today, baby! It’s a thrill just to have access to that one game again 👊

Picked it up last night. Really enjoying it so far, especially the music! Being a fan of more classic style arcade games this game is a perfect complement to a snowy weekend.

Swooping in on them Pikmins! Those haven’t been available in ages and fetch a pretty high price these days..

Always meant to play the original, so the remake is the perfect excuse to finally jump in. I’m pumped!

Oddly, if the original was releasing on NSO I don’t think I’d get around to it.

Happy that it’s pulling in some decent numbers, but I was hoping we were sitting close to 4 million based on how long it’s been in the charts, all the press from big YouTubers and whatnot.

Still, if it’s considered good enough numbers for Nintendo to keep making the series then cool. But as a big fan I’ll always think it deserves even more recognition.

Oooh these are some good NES deep cuts. Always wanted to try Devil World. Definitely a decent update.

I’m about 70% through it. So good. A few stages had me beaming with genuine surprise—like to the point of laughing out loud—which is unheard of for me.

Only qualm is challenge. Even the special stages so far are fairly tame. Oh, and there’s no real motivation to experiment with badges. The R button has basically been locked to the cap ability for me.

I’ve been resisting the Zelda OLED with all my might, knowing I’ll regret making a small upgrade when the real upgrade has to be around the corner 🤞 (The Mario one doesn’t tempt me at all but I’m sure there’s a demographic for it)

I’ll be scoping eBay in a couple o weeks for this!

During that Direct I was actually shocked how much repetitive gabbing that flower was doing and thinking “doesn’t Nintendo normally skip voice acting for this very reason”. Lo and behold, a mute option.

I’ll try with banter on for a bit but very likely shut it off when I want to focus on the game.

It’s embarrassing this gen with Nintendo’s lack of quality control. All the hentai stuff in particular makes me irritated to check the eshop sometimes.

Even if Nintendo assembled a small team to cull the most blatant offenders it would be a huge step.

Bring on Friday! I preordered at Best Buy and even got a Pikmin tote bag waiting for me.

For me the magic of Pikmin is mood, creature design & environment. This one seems to have it in spades.

Man, I love the cover artwork of Famicom games. The cartoon style is so rich for me. And with the landscape composition you can make such interesting images.

@Moroboshi876 the trailer seems to infer that the package includes four different versions of the original as well as a remaster.

Oof. I normally jump for any Pikmin merch, but yea, unless you’re combining it with another order getting this makes zero sense at shipping cost.

For something like this they should throw it an envelope, put a 50 cent stamp on it, charge us $1 shipping and call it a day.

As someone who thinks Pikmin creature designs are the gaming world’s best, the return of a proper Piklopedia is BIG news. Pikmin 2’s was great, 3 Deluxe’s was a bit of a whiff, but this one seems like a perfect way to revisit all the cool creatures this series has!

I managed to get one of these at launch. Oddly, my GameStop had a few extras at a release party and I pounced.

For me it was EASILY worth the extra money. Definitely a classy special edition (though does take up a chunk of space 😅)

I’m happier in hindsight than I was while viewing. I’d be thrilled if they gave Pikmin 1 & 2 a biiit more love than an HD upscaling, but ultimately just happy to have em. Also excited for Mario’s new 2D direction.
