The file compression was the biggest pleasant surprise for me. I don’t know why I care, but I’m impressed nonetheless!

Would love if they brought this out of Japan. I’m playing the Bomberman collection now and they did translate some JP only titles in that, so maybe some hope??

Lucky that I checked the app this morning for the first time in a while! Thought it was a refresher video at first.

Looks like a meaty addition. A good excuse to return to the game, though not sure if I can rally multiplayer with people 🤔

(And on a side note, the graphic design on the physical versions of these Switch 2 upgrades are so cluttered… physical collecting is getting less appealing for sure )

This game took over an hour to click with me but once it did, I was hooked. Still am. Freakishly good game for $15.

Great color scheme. Had some fun collecting joycon variants on the original Switch, but can’t see myself doing that again.

I was enjoying the game for the vast majority of my play through and was ready to defend it until the end. (People complaining it’s linear, others claiming it’s “open world”)

But then I started getting near the end and the writing, story beats, and last boss fight were getting incrementally worse. By the ending I was literally giving my tv the middle finger. Really finished with a thud.

The game deserves its controversy.

Bums me out to see Retro’s hard work go unrecognized…. I almost let the mixed reviews affect my purchase but so glad I didn’t.

Shadow dropping a GC game that wasn’t even on the release roster?! Heck yes! And it’s one of the few Cube games I haven’t played.

@Beaucine I read all the comments in this feed and I think yours aligns most with my own.

There are indeed different types of Metroid games. Some are more linear. I myself am enjoying the linear aspect as I’ve been lost in past entries by seriously cryptic puzzles/exploration and I don’t have the patience for that anymore.
The Metroid series as a whole is going to have such a hard time evolving if fans have an overly strict definition of what the series is allowed to be. It’s lose/lose when the try to stay too loyal to the past, and they lose again why they add features.

I’m honestly baffled the game is so divisive. To me it just screams quality and craftsmanship.

I’m curious if I’m gonna get 80 hours out of this like I did with AoC.

I’m a completionist for all things Zelda so of course I gotta get a physical copy. Though I honestly don’t know if my brain is cut out for the hours of frantic visual stimulation these games pack 😵‍💫

Great to hear. This game deserves to do better on the Switch. I’ve played about half the games and 5-6 had me hooked. Which I consider a decent ratio.

Glad articles like this exist. I’m about 8 hours in and sometimes I get overly focused on the clunky mechanics, slow dialogue and miss a lot of this nuance. (Though when Jenny was hungry and crying at the top of the stairs I felt that)

I’ll get it to support the idea and design that I like so much. $20 is reasonable to experiment with a new title. Also glad it’s on the shorter side as it increases my odds of completing it.

I’m pumped, looks great. Will buy. Also excited to not hear the continuation of the speculation, banter and memes.

Unfortunately yea, for the opening stage. I turned down camera shake and camera sensitivity and haven’t felt it since… great game, but we did start off on the wrong foot 🫤. (I was starting to wonder if I’m getting too old for modern games)

Has anyone had an issue where the ratio of TV mode is zoomed in and way off, with a bit of pixelated static?? It’s happened to me about 3 times and it’s always fixed with a quick sleep/wake up but it’s still a bit unnerving 😬

The load times on the original were painfully long. Really cut into my enjoyment of the game. This could make me enthusiastic about the series again.

Though I’m really pumped for this game I actually hope it doesn’t launch too soon. Between Mario Kart and DK I don’t think it would have proper time in the spotlight. I want to give this game its own month!

@Olliemar28 holy crap. I watched his Pikmin 3 “unplayable” video, didn’t think anything of it. Then he made a second video having to rationalize his opinion, which I was confused about because the original video seemed so basic. Then I went to the comments section of the first video and was shocked with how angry and venomous people got on this topic. As if Nintendo and Arlo had personally assaulted them.

I’m in the minority. I like nerding out over stuff like this and will get it. Though honestly, they’ll make so little profit off $10 a pop that yea, would’ve made a nice free peace offering to the fans in financially difficult times.

I’m pumped. The price tag was a shock at first but now I’m just tired of complainers peeing on my hype. There’s a lot of game in there.

They could’ve dropped DK by itself and it’d be an event for me—but no!! A Picross I’ve never played too! Christmas in March baby!

Looks like an interesting curiosity. Just not a $25 curiosity. Seems steep…

@Grumblevolcano unfortunately I agree with you. Many of the posts here seem pretty optimistic about price, but $299 eight years ago is similar to today’s $499.

I think Nintendo’s given enough info that we can get pretty close to an assumed date.

The hands-on event runs from April to the end of May. After drumming up all that hands-on hype you gotta launch the thing either during or immediately after.

Logical guess would be early June.

@Dev1024 I largely agree. And almost gave up during a tedious “filling the watering can” segment near the end.

But I have to say, if you’ve come that far the last 5 hours of the game are really good. It knocked my opinion of the game up significantly.

Here in the US tariffs have the potential to mess with ALL electronics pricing. I can’t even pretend to predict the future here.

I tried to watch the IGN video review and it was just too snarky. I don’t believe this is a perfect game but theirs felt like a grudge review.

Man. I just wish we could enjoy something cool for like FIVE minutes before dissecting everything it’s lacking instead of the 100’s of things it’s doing right.

@Anti-Matter but you have to listen to ads, and keep your phone screen on unless you subscribe to YouTube premium.

Been listening to Wii Channels ambiance. Already really digging this app. Just the fact it’s from the source, perfect recordings, no ads is making this a big win.

Even details like having Metroid cartridge and Famicom disk versions is going to make me nerd out over the differences.

Kit and Krysta made a good point, they won’t announce something that big that close to an election. The entire US is uptight. A new hardware announcement would make ZERO news waves in mainstream media at this hectic time.

I’ll get it for the soundtrack alone. Some great tunes in this one.

I’ve played about 8 hours since launch, got through 3 main dungeons and I honestly can’t give it a score yet. Very conflicted on this one. Every brilliant moment is coupled with some minor annoyances. Though ultimately, I am hooked and will definitely play through to the end.

To put that in perspective the Switch LITE alone sold 4,000 more units than the COMBINED PS5 sales. That…that’s….rough.

Maybe that new Pro model with the power to slightly enhance distant background characters will boost sales 🙃

I used to beat Castlevania’s legitimately back in the day somehow. And as I finished Portrait of Ruin last night spamming the heck out of rewind I wonder how I ever did any of these late game bosses without cheating.

@Taguon yea, I tried playing Starfy. People were saying there’s “not that much dialogue” but man, I could not plod my way through it.

Still convinced Nintendo could spring the cash to translate their NSO games if a $10 Sunsoft collection can.
