Started playing around midnight last night. Took a Nook ticket to an island and was catching sharks like gangbusters! 2.5 hours later I had every new sea fish including 8 Great Whites and many huge river fish—it was ridiculously fun!

Since I’m all about museum completion and playing without time travel I’m genuinely excited at the beginning of each month to find new fish and bugs. June is gonna be a banger for fish!!

Impressive what the game has gotten me riled about.

So it seems me and one other person appreciate City Connection 😂.

No joke, that game is in my top 10—and that’s not even nostalgia talking. I only recently discovered it in the past five years. To me it’s a great zippy arcade game 🕺🏼

And a note to first time Rygar players: there’s a leveling up system that the instructions likely won’t mention. Knowing that makes the game waaaay more manageable ✌️

Rygar’s my jam! Try to play through it ever few years.

Even though this update will be underwhelming for some, that game alone makes this an ace update for me👌

Had one good week with turnips playing with friends. Felt good, so I tried doing it a second week with twice as much cash. Aaaand come Saturday night the Nook kids were offering me 35 a turnip and Nintendo’s online services were down. Lost a tidy heap of bells.

Back to fish and bugs for this simple man 👨‍🌾

As much as I enjoyed this game, I just can’t get riled about the DLC. My brain just doesn’t associate Luigi’s Mansion with multiplayer 🤷‍♂️

Very close to purchasing once this update goes live. Of course if they couple that with a sale I’ll be easier to sway 😏

I feel like an Ubisoft sale just finished 😂. Remind me never to buy an Ubi game at release price ☝️

North America despite the designer going crazy with crappy font effects.

Japan’s is so congested I hardly see the figure until close inspection, and Europe’s lighting feels muddy.

I feel like I know the game pretty well after 200+ hours, but a lot of their abilities are so next level I can only vaguely tell what’s even happening...

I actually love the graphic style of some of these old games. The screaming greens and odd color palettes. I’d buy them for the ‘keepsake’ value alone, but to echo other’s sentiments, I’d do such things for $4 or $5 not $8....

I love ya Nintendo, but frickin’ own up already!! Not just in the U.S. where you’re under trial—OWN IT GLOBALLY.

There should be indefinite warranties on this very flawed device!

@HammerKirby fortunately, I don’t think that would have much to do with a Direct release. Such a thing’s creation/ release wouldn’t require in-person socializing any more than any other editing project.

Bought the 1st fighters pass out of faith, and could’ve done without half the new characters. Gonna wait on this one until I know at least half the lineup.

Was sitting there hoping that the Fire Emblem opening would be an ironic intro only to be flipped with something clever... up until it was official. Who could possibly be thinking the series needed more representation?? 😑😑😑

In my opinion it needs OFFICIAL acknowledgement from JAPAN and a worldwide warranty service until the situation is rectified.

It’s so surreal to see Subway Surfers on the top of that list. The dudes that developed it went to the same animation school as me, and as they were working on it I didn’t think much of it. “Mobile games? Who even plays those.” Yeaaaa...I’m way the hell out of touch.

It would be SO REFRESHING to actually get answers to one of these questions. Thank you for the absolute vagueness Doug, you clearly read the manual on being a corporate exec.

Honestly, I don’t really trust this guy just yet. The products we’re seeing now still have nothing to do with him, and it’ll be a year or two before we see products that have to do with his greenlight. Right now he’s getting credit from investors for something he’s had nothing to do with.

My opinion is open to change, and I’m not deliberately sounding negative, but he does lack in appeal and character.

I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever seen a video game as visually reviling as that boxing game. That bleak mustard yellow mat, the character designs, the shameless ‘homage’...just...Terrible.

Originally stumbled across this game by accident at a bar in Chicago. People were lined up to play on both sides of the cabinet, and I had no clue what all the cheering and hype was about. Then I played it... and man, if you have enough players it really is some of the best multiplayer I’ve ever sampled.

As a non-online subscriber I’m glad they’re not putting anything pertinent behind the subscription wall. If they start releasing limited spirits or something I’m gonna start to sweat 😓

Oddly jazzed about this. Whenever Hamster releases a Nintendo arcade title I’m tempted to get it, if nothing else but to compare it to the NES equivalents I know so well.

Anybody know what the eshop file size is? I’m kind of curious how big a cart Activision is paying for. If they went for 2 or 4 GB that’s just pathetic...

Started 2 on my Dreamcast back in the day and never finished it, though enjoyed what I played.

If they can make the collection $30 or under ya got me.

This game looks so cool I’m baffled it hasn’t performed better on the eshop charts. With the confidence of having read the positive review now I’ll definitely jump in 🤾‍♂️

What an officially useless statement. I’m a long time Nintendo fan—still am, obviously— but this recent class action suit has me hungry for blood and ACTUAL statements.

@dartmonkey. Speaking of Joy-Cons, there’s a mini movement that started on Reddit requesting Nintendo publicly acknowledge the controllers faulty design, as they have YET to publicly do so. The post got upvoted 25K times and then was picked up as a Kotaku article who has now put pressure on Nintendo for a statement. Perhaps Nintendolife could do the same? The resurgence of the topic is high right now and if it keeps up there might be a chance for change in how the defect is handled in the future. (Extended warranty, class action suit, etc,)

Until they start doing something interesting with the docks besides a last minute graphic slapped on, these special editions will feel “eh” to me.

How difficult could it be to have some colored plastic put into the dock mould?

Wow. A game spends years in development knowing very well it’ll eventually need a cover—a huge influence for the casual buyer—then there’s a time pinch and the poor guy has to design it in a day!
