@AlexOlney actually a really interesting article could be interviewing a developer to find out what they have to pay to Nintendo for the different file sizes and other expenses per physically published unit. At least I’ve always been curious about this kind of thing. And it might give a bit more insight to the choices they make 🤷♂️
Though they didn’t make much money off Mario Run, I imagine the boost to brand and character recognition is invaluable. I reckon something like Animal Crossing mobile is going to have a very clear trail leading people to purchase the full Switch game.
With Mario making the rounds, i can’t really understand the urgency on Nintendo’s behalf except that it’s been promised. I have Zelda’s DLC preordered, am excited for it, but it could be released in January or February as far as I’m concerned.
Slightly off topic, but I was reading translated Famitsu reviews yesterday for Odyssey on another site—and someone in the comments section posted a gif of a KEY MOMENT OF ODYSSEY’S ENDING! It took a second to register what I was seeing, and then I was thwomped. 😵
Be careful out there folks. Lotta trollage around this game...
Great game. But also so original that I understand the divide. It’s more puzzler than platformer (despite its appearance) and getting from one place to the other IS the challenge.
It captured me enough to perfect it and play for 15 hours.
I agree that it is safe, but serves as a welcoming re-intro for lapsed or new fans. I think the Switch had to have its safe intro version and from here on out can experiment and build on the established basics.
Got mine this morning at Toys R Us. Just arrived 15 minutes before opening. I was 40th in line with stock of 45. Very few people turned away. Nintendo actually made a fair amount of product this time!
A lot of these publishers could move significantly more quantity if they didn't hit such high price points. 30 bucks is too steep to risk on an experiment. $5-15 is my sweet "impulse" range.
These arcade classics could be validated in my mind if they include some interesting interfaces, cabinet concept art, etc. If they skimp on presentation though, it's gonna be a tough sell for me.
This update might just bring this game up to "actual game" status, instead of $10 beta demo. The only functioning mode in the game so far is choppy online against the only one other person online.
To echo other's sentiments, my only regretted switch purchase so far.
The Metroid paradox has never been more clear then in message boards-- "we want a new Metroid! Make it good!" In comes new Metroid, it's better than good. "Eh, I'll wait to see if this comes out for the Switch". Yes, this game could look rad on the Switch, but a port would be years away--if ever! And only then if this game produces numbers now.
From a design standpoint I actually prefer the minimalist original, but hey, props to the studio for listening. Conversely, buckling to popular opinions too often can lead to generic-town.
The micro SD market is an ambiguous one for most consumers as you'll notice in Amazon reviews. This is literally just packaging saying "compatible and efficient with your Switch" and hey, that's fine. It's basically a partnership in store placement location and consumer clarity signified with a splash of art.
Trial of the Sword was nicely fine-tuned. It forced me have to come back to the nuances of cooking. Key info I learned in the trial break rooms: A cooked Hearty Bass, or a Hearty Truffle cooked with a piece of meat is a full heart fill-up dish (sometimes + a heart or two). I couldn't have cleared the hard stages without those.
$10 would be an easy sell for me. Though I may sound a bit curmudgeonly by asking "does a game with this kind of nice clean mechanics need so many modes?" It could potentially dilute the core concept a bit. Ah well. Glad to see it coming soon!
Oh Man! I literally bought an eshop card to get this game last night. Then for no reason decided to hold off. Now they knock off 8 bucks today and I can happily dance over to my Switch and purchase without hesitation. This kind of thing almost always happens in reverse for me.
Nice! I'm overdue for a replay of this. I remember it being really well written. Hope they don't try to charge more than 10 bucks, but considering the minor upgrades I reckon it's likely.
I'm fairly tech-sound, but I actually wish Nintendo would explain these details with the Switch in an enclosed manual. I've been very cautious with my new Switch and there have been several times when I've wondered if I'm operating it 100% correctly.

Re: Video: Get Snazzy with Our Top 10 Super Mario Odyssey Costumes
@Kalmaro Agreed. I'm not a stickler for things getting revealed, but the Diddy costume would have been awesome to find (unknown) in game.

Re: Review: Physical Contact: Picture Place (Switch eShop)
But does the score take into account that this game can be played between "parents, friends and lovers"?

Re: Review: Arcade Archives Mario Bros. (Switch eShop)
Can't help but wonder if every Arcade Classic article is going to morph into a Virtual Console discussion in the message boards...
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th September (North America)
If you're looking for a hearty chuckle go to the eshop and read the description for Physical Contact: Picture Place. Some seriously busted grammar--😂

Re: Double Dragon IV is Hitting the Switch eShop Next Week
Loved Double Dragon 2, but considering I could hardly make it through the trailer for this one makes me think it ain't my cup o' punch.
Re: Video: Get Hyped For Metroid: Samus Returns With This Overview Trailer
Also that voice-over feels like it'd be more appropriate in a Home Depot commercial. :b
Re: Roll7 "Considering" Bringing Both OlliOlli Games To Switch
The comment they made is purely tongue in cheek. I think they're very aware of the lingo and poking at other companies, not us. Funny to me anyway.
