Re: The 3DS And Wii U eShops Have Closed, Purchases "No Longer Possible"

robotreptile

Jumped in this afternoon to grab a few final things off my wishlist. Always been curious about Dillon’s Rolling Western and a few old Gameboy games. Oddly, I think I would’ve waited indefinitely if the closure hadn’t occurred. So in a way the closure got me moving to act.

Fair thee well, eshop. Your jolly jingles will be missed 🫡

@Anti-Matter “I completely dislike them and it started to annoy me”. Annoy you?! You’re the one who will comment on every Zelda, Metroid article—anything that’s not your EXACT tastes and reiterate how uninterested you are. Personally, I find your pointed opinions and very specific tastes to be a buzzkill on a comments section that I usually enjoy.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The Latest Nintendo Direct?

robotreptile

I certainly agree with those who had qualms with the pacing. Like, Pikmin 4 might be my most anticipated game ever but I spent the whole Miyamoto section fearing it was just Bloom talk. By the time 4 was announced it was more relief than excitement.

I’m also getting burnt out on micro-trailers. Ex: Pikmin, Zelda. I get they’re teasers, but they’re not even getting started before they cut em off. I feel strung along instead of curious.

As others have said or alluded to, that Japanese box is a design mess. Sure, you can try to put every character on the box, but there’s no focal point. No priority in what your eye should be looking at.

NA/Europe for me. (actually surprised the race is so close)

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series

Though I’m still excited for this, I do think Namco shot themselves in the foot in a couple ways with this release:
—it sounds like the Switch version could’ve used a bit more attention, unfortunate considering Nintendo fans would be most likely to gravitate toward such a game.
—the weird inconsistent pricing across territories. $40 US vs almost 50 £ 😬 and others…
—a bit lacking in bolstering the package with extras: concept art, history, etc.

I’ll still get it. I love the series. I just think if the reception to it to this collection is lackluster Namco will think the character doesn’t have future potential—which it does.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Strikers Is Pipped At The Post By Demon Slayer

Next Level games is an amazing development studio, but I’m gonna go ahead and say I don’t mind if Strikers falls flat. At some point Nintendo needs to get the message that launching a lite game and drip feeding content until the game stops selling is a terrible policy.

I was 90% sure I was going to get this game, but did a full turn when I read about the lack of single player content. No thanks. Not for me.

Re: Pikmin Bloom Is Adding Weekly Challenges With Step Goals

@rockodoodle yea, totally hear you on that. It got me walking my dog a bit more when I first started it. It was interesting unlocking new Pikmin types too, but it seems ill paced for the medium and long term.

Still. Not complaining too hard, just figured they could’ve fed all the effort into a payoff. Like a neat li’l Pikmin hive/town growing, or risking a few Pikmin to take down a Bulborb or something. 🤷‍♂️

Re: Pikmin Bloom Is Adding Weekly Challenges With Step Goals

Despite my absolute love for the Pikmin franchise and my bullheaded determination to get into this app…. It’s tough to care. I’m at level 40, have raised countless Pikmin, maxed out their hearts to keep getting the blandest possible decor, keep defeating endless mushrooms and I’m genuinely baffled where the sense of payoff is. I know it’s not “that kind of game” but it needs SOMETHING. Rare nectars to plant flowers that have no significant effect except to be planted and disappear a few days later? Neat.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Biggest Gaming Regrets

I remember being at a Best Buy when the SNES was fazing out and the N64 was gaining traction. They had a stack of pristine, big box Earthbounds for $15 a piece. I had the money, but I looked at the back of the box and 17 year old me thought “these graphics stink” and put it down. I got a forgettable $60 N64 game instead 😑
