@Jonnyl Agreed. Based off the screen grabs I see no inference of the ‘interesting world’ they’re describing. The chosen images make the game look like a mess of pea soup and polygons.

I always fantasized Nintendo would do something like this. They have so many quirky and interesting objects made throughout their history that it’d be so interesting to see it displayed in a thoughtful chronological way.

@Heavyarms55 to add to the instability of the shortages, Taiwan one of the largest producers of semiconductor chips in the world is experiencing an intense drought. Besides the lack of hydroelectricity, semiconductors require an insane amount of purified water to make in a sterile environment. It could be a very long time before supply meets demand.

It would be convenient to chalk up Microsoft and Sony’s issue to poor planning, but literally no business saw this coming. Hence, thousands upon thousands of finished automobiles waiting in vast lots for their chip brain before they can even be driven.

My subscription can comfortably stay lapsed. See you next time ✌️

Actually caved in and downloaded this past week. Shockingly, it does have some merit and is worth a download just to see what ideas the series may potentially adopt in the future. The course designs aren’t that thrilling but the challenges are definitely an idea that deserves another chance.

For the wary, the gatcha mechanics are relatively light and honestly are so ridiculously priced they’re not tempting anyway.

@Purgatorium a lot of the time it’s on sale is because Bandai Namco tends to do studio wide sales where they discount their whole Switch catalog. Among those sales it tends to sell quite well 👌

Wholeheartedly agree. I feel like a few new tasks beyond catch object X, return to seasonal character for decorative item Y would be quite welcome.

The game is good at dangling potential in front of you, make it feel like it’s picking up, then it just never really blossoms.

I miss the manuals because I miss the “complete package” feel that games used to have. Front and back art that wasn’t as cluttered with technical jargon, or any amount of extra effort that heightened the presence of the object as a thing to have.

Nowadays I get the feeling they strip away as much of the physical charm as possible. Maybe they do it as a subliminal push to go digital, which makes sense, but it’s a bit of a loss just the same.

@OorWullie Whoa! You ain’t kidding—that game’s gorgeous. What a waste that it’s never been ported to consoles. Wish Sega, Capcom and others would actually dig into their own archives beyond their tired cash cows.

@Slowdive You’re partially right, but in the world of animation, and to a lesser extent games, lighting artists are closer to the end of the pipeline. I’m not inferring the game is coming soon, but they likely wouldn’t have recently hired an expensive lighting artist unless they have a fair amount of environments and models to light.

Literally can’t find a physical copy here. Started out looking casually and now with determination and it’s just totally sold out everywhere. With that pent up demand I think it could sell another 3 million in the month of April.

When they showed this in the direct for all of 2 minutes I grew impatient with its dull world. Apparently the gameplay is as exciting as the presentation 😪

To me this game is a symbol that Nintendo is acknowledging and attempting to spread the appeal of their most underdogged franchise. Heck, this game could just be a seed to spread awareness before the next full game 🤩

Meh. Anyone who wanted it has gotten it by now. There was always an abundance of copies at retail, which will make it easily available 2nd hand.

Any irritation I had about the whole thing has disintegrated by now.

I think this ended up being far more niche than Nintendo was anticipating. Almost every department store where I’m at still has an abundance of them in their display case.

Personally, I bought one because the package and device design is beautifully done, but I’ve played it for maybe 15 minutes.

It was a cool concept, but the requirement of space and specific conditions were too steep to invest in. (Looks over at my minimally used LABO kits 😒)

@Wavey84 yeah, I played it, but only at a Toys R Us kiosk as a young teen. I remember it being mind-blowing (and a bit confusing) for me at the time. I loved the design though and was particularly looking forward to seeing it remade...until it was remade.

Wow. Reading all these comments I’m shocked how many people thought the Remake was good. Even after all the updates I thought the game was all-out bad. It has the “honor” of being the first Switch game that I uninstalled after completion just to get fully away from it.

@Juga that’s actually a really interesting point, and likely a peak into my own psychology as I buy “decent” games to bide my time until the next proper release.

And on that note Nintendo, I ain’t buying Skyward Sword again!

I think this documentary could be particularly interesting because it seems it’s not just a praise-piece. If it’s as critical as it seems, I’m even more enthused about it.

I liked it during my play through ten years ago, but as the trailer rolled yesterday all I could think was how I was glad to have it behind me. Zero drive to play it again.

On top of that, I find it near insulting that they’re going for a full 60 bucks knowing how devoted us Zelda fans are. Not this time for me.

I actually love the Japanese cover. My only 2 qualms are #1–the added perspective on the text (would look great if it looked like it was actually setting on the grass). #2–bump up the size of Mario by a few degrees.

Otherwise, I think it’s one of the most original covers I’ve seen.

I feel like Nintendo already has me by the balls with my enthusiasm for their games, I refuse to fully submit and chase their tchotchkes too.

I was starting to think the one here in Columbus Ohio was a front for something illegal as I was trying to figure out how they managed to keep staying around. Always appreciated their retro signage.

Passion projects like this always impress me with the volume of craftsmanship and technical know-how.

What’s more, I like this creators humble attitude admitting “the battery life sucks, and it’s uncomfortable to hold”.

To anyone who has ever used Adobe After Effects, this game looks like they made one “doll” version of every character/ enemy then used the puppet tool for all of the animation.

I want to be excited about it because I appreciate the series, but I don’t see enthusiasm or money being put onto the screen this time.

Oddly, the Walking Stick was my most difficult bug catch. I botched one catch and it was WEEKS before I saw another. By the time I was approaching it my hands were shaking.

I put 9-10 hours into Tako before just getting confused as all hell where I should go. The fact that the creator MADE the fixes and the publisher won’t implement them until it’s sold X amount is ice cold. That patch could literally salvage my opinion on the game and I could then give it positive word of mouth 😑

Saw Ghost N’ Goblins headline, was pumped, saw trailer, enthusiasm took a dive. It just looks second rate...

Just checking in to see if Pikmin 3 was still on the list, and alas, it has sailed. Decent li’l run it had though.

Very tempted, and want to support the game because I dig the character designs so much. But every single one of my unplayed games in my backlog is a point-n-click. Literally 5-6 games 😅

I remember thinking when the trailer first dropped that the game looked a bit dismal. It’s a shame too because the brighter screenshot really makes the whole thing way more appealing.

Like others, I’d prefer the collection, at the very least just to take up a single icon, but in this release format I’ll likely only purchase Runner.

The only hiccup I encountered, and maybe it was a strange design choice, is that some creatures get logged into the Piklopedia by encountering them, while others need to be taken back to the onion. Kind of odd.

On that note, wish the Piklopedia was a bit more robust like Pikmin 2’s. Namely, the image of the creature is too small to appreciate and inspect.

This game has been a surprise delight for me. My first instincts was that it was a speed running competition, but it really rewards you for defeating enemies with combos and finesse. I’m hooked.

Keep it up you adorable flower Pikmins! I’m convinced 80% of the people who play that game will become passionate fans like us other Pik-enthusiasts! 🌸

Hoping the Pikmin series finally gets the recognition it deserves this time around. The creature design and ambiance really is magic.

The update that it may cause motion sickness translates to “it WILL cause motion sickness” for me. 😑. I bought the Labo VR and couldn’t play it more than 2-3 minutes at a time before retiring the whole pile.

Anything that reminds me that Nintendo cares even one iota about Pikmin is a refreshing piece of news.

Wow, the comments section for Pikmin 3 are still full of the same price-shock outrage as when the game was announced three months ago. 😑

As a Pikmin fan I just want the game to sell well so the series gets the fan base it could have!

And concerning the article itself, I think those commercials do a great job of showing off the creatures and the world from interesting angles. Perhaps thanks to the new photo mode 🤔

Thoroughly enjoyed these when they came out. Particularly seeing the characters so well rendered and playful. Would be thrilled if it ever became a mini series 🤩

I don’t know about this situation in particular but if you’re only quoting one or two employees on a huge team you’re not getting an accurate portrayal. Any workforce involving creatives is gonna have a few (possibly many) frustrated employees who don’t feel like their talents are being “fully utilized” and can be particularly sensitive/emotional/pious when their work and ideas has to be rejected or revised.

This one stood out to me but I was concerned that I might just dig the aesthetic and not the gameplay. Glad to hear it plays well.

Like others mentioned, will wish-list it and get it after it’s patched.

Hope the US gets some neat li’l bonuses. I’m buying the game either way, but how sweet would a Bulborb figurine be 🤩
