Question: I downloaded this. Am enjoying it okay—but! Is there any way to go back to the top menu screen after choosing one of the games?!

It seems like a ridiculous possible oversight, but all I can do is return to the title screen of the selected game! Tell me I’m missing something 🤯

All fine and good , but I also read some info on another game site the other day about how the new president wants to shift to a larger focus on mobile gaming-- it made me sight gag and shook my trust a bit in Furukawa.

@DockEllisD Interesting stat. Considering the size of Japanese apartments and lack of space, unfortunately I can’t see those numbers bouncing back.

I personally bought the variety kit, dig it, but wonder where I’m gonna put it all...

I believe the problem was more rampant than “standard new hardware hiccups”. It happened to me and the other two Switch owners I know. Thought I could live with it, but finally sent it in and the improvement was five fold.

Nintendo’s track record has been so solid it still shocks me how touchy a state the joy cons were released in.

@thesilverbrick I admit, as a collector, I too am in a bit of conundrum with the transient nature of Labo. Heck, to use it you basically have to break up the "collectible" aspect of it, and to personalize it you really gotta mess it up. But that conundrum has more to do with the format of the product than the pricing.

For what the package includes (and I'm talking the variety kit here) I think $70 is reasonable, and I would estimate Nintendo makes a significantly smaller profit on it than a normal $60 game.

In the case of Labo I think its controversial format is too often downgraded because of the material, despite some very genius designs that couldn't be feasible in another medium.

All that being said, always enjoy your level-headed comments, as they're often some of the better dialogue around here.

With every Labo article another pointless price debate. I'm a person of the 80's and I remember a TV "expose" that revealed NES carts only cost $4-$7 to produce--and they had the nerve to charge $50! What that 'expose' didn't take into account, and what people continue to struggle with is that it's not just raw material production costs, but R & D, the software, shipping---and craziest of all, some profit!

Labo's only $10 more than a normal game--what's so confusing about the price?!

Whoops. Made the mistake of holding some anticipation for this update that they’ve been touting for months.

Really enjoyed the base game, but trying to grab a bunch of tchotchkes on a speed run is counterintuitive to what made the game enjoyable for me.

I would like to second the New Super Mario 2 sentiment. Not a terrible game, but it reeks of apathy.

I just hope they release the first one too at some point. That one had perfect streamlined simplicity.

I’m a bit ignorant of certain games until they show up in the Nintendo periphery, and can’t believe a game this beautiful had almost slipped under my radar until now.

I gotta start paying closer attention.

The real intrigue for me is that final design. It looks like a cardboard Gameboy slip to hold the Switch! Definitely some potentially interesting ideas in that.

I’m kind of shocked that Yuji Naka is always heralded as Sonic’s creator when it was this dude’s concept.

In a way it feels similar to how Inafune has come to be associated with Mega Man.

I’m intrigued. Less and less these days do I need my games to be “all encompassing” and am often content to enjoy a game for its particular standout trait: narrative, design, gameplay, etc.

Though occasionally we get a Zelda, which checks all the boxes. 😎

It feels like an improper listing. I would be shocked to see Capcom give us a deal.

With the way they initially worded it in the announcement I thought they might actually try and sell ‘em for $8 a pop. So two collections is fine by me. It’s only a semi-gouge. 😛

Ambitious graphic style that could do with some animation polish. Also doesn’t bode well that the trailer was making me drowsy.

Was peronally hoping for just a straight-up traditional Kirby to get the Switch rolling into the year, but will give this game a fair shake if the mechanics aren't too distracting.

If that Link’s Awakening remake is true, I’d gladly fire my 3DS up again! 🔥

Here's a question for those who have played it: Is the long play time (many saying hundreds of hours) attributed to "completionist" runs of beating the game with every character? And on that topic, is each character path essentially running through the same basic levels, or are there variations?

As a Zelda fan I'm curious about the game, I just don't know if I have the stamina to play the same content 30 different times.

Ecstatic about this announcement! One of those indies I’ve always wanted to play but never had the hardware.

@progx Funny coincidence. We shared very similar sentiments within a minute of each other. I think we'll even see more info by the end of this month/ beginning of Feb.

I'm still convinced there will be an Official Direct in the the next month. This was a fine mini but had an air of casual delivery.

It felt like what they showed would be overshadowed in a full-length Direct so they created this li'l guy.

Seeing as how I just bought Thumper on the indie sale I think my capacity for tough as nails games is satisfied for the indefinite future. My brain can’t handle anymore...

@Spoony_Tech totally agree with you. This new era of Nintendo seems to like to announce and deliver while the iron is hot. Slightly off topic, but I could even see them releasing Yoshi and Kirby by March and May.

If this reviews even semi-decently I'm on board. That aesthetic is just so pleasant I want to swim in it.

Dang!! I could have happily thrown some money toward a couple more rounds of DLC. I was one of those people more than pleased with the two packs.

They could release a pack every six months and I would buy.

Been enjoying short games lately. Awkward quirk is totally my thing. $5 is fine by me.

Just beat DLC #2 last night. It was a conservative addition. However! That final unlocked memory is gold! Considerably more satisfying than the full games ending.

Yikes! Had this sitting on my wish list until a review came in and now I can safely release this one back into the wild unpurchased.

For the $5 asking price I could be content treating it as a pretty screen-saver experiment. I'm a sucker for that biological micro-style.

@10-zx Except when our leader regularly antagonizes N. Korea as Japan and S. Korea sit within close striking range of said country.
