Once you remap the controls the game is honestly more fun than it was 25 years ago. I remember my discomfort when playing with the n64 controller and couldn’t play long sessions without my hands hurting. I’m having a blast unlocking all the cheats for multiplayer the hard way. Finally destroyed the Facility time target which I was never close to doing as a child. Can’t wait to play multiplayer with friends!!

@MegaVel91 I want to see a pokemon game trump Arceus soon. But at the same time, I’m happy I got to live long enough to experience Arceus. Made me feel like a kid again. Not a perfect game but it made me love Pokemon all over again.

Mew and Mewtwo leading straight into red/blue would be badass. I want to experience the destruction of Cinnabar island and how Mew was potentially caught. It would be a heartbreaking tale that could tie direct to red/blue/yellow and the first pokemon movie. I have wanted that since the beginning.

Considering that this is primarily a handheld device, I think it's incredible that the only issue I have had with it was the joycon drift.

That being said, I haven't used joy cons in two years. I use the split pad pro for mobile play and pro controllers when docked. Still clocks in a few hours of BotW, Fortnite, or Pokemon before needing a charge.

Overall, I strongly recommend a Switch to anyone who doesn't already have one. It's certainly dependable.

Things that I do want improvements on however:
-Stronger graphics chip
-Better wifi card
-Better bluetooth capabilities (voicechat for headphones when mobile)
-Better overall voicechat integration for online play
-Stronger battery life

That's it. Pretty simple really.

@Powloon As someone who plays this game from time to time, I have to 100% agree. Most of their cosmetics in the game are geared toward the trainer which is odd since no one can really ever see your trainer except at the end of matches. And their prices for Pokemon and cosmetics on the whole are about 10x more expensive than what you would get for the same price in something like Fortnite. They also have a battle pass that nets you truly no real rewards. Luckily for them the gameplay is pretty decent. Everything outside of that though is complete and utter garbage.

I'm just happy an award was dedicated to reformed rabbi Bill Clinton. Best game awards ever. Except for the one where Knack 3 was announced.

It's a small step. I noticed a lot of jagged edges smoothed out and framerate at certain distances taken care of. But it's still not where it needs to be. There are still frame rate issues with the windmills for example and other graphical items that should be cleaned up and/or improved. They should really be looking into updating textures as well to put it more inline at least with Arceus.

Overall, I'm enjoying the glitches. It is crazy though that Arceus seems more optimized than this game.

The framerate in this game is straight up laughable. You can be in a class with students and have severe framerate drops between each row of kids. It makes no sense unless it's purely just draw distance. It just needs optimization or testing really. I'm expecting this to all be patched with a week or two.

Just let Bandai/Namco take a shot at this. Their Pokemon Snap game was just a tease of what a true open world Pokemon could look like. There's no reason that game could look so pristine and run smoothly where these games look and run like garbage.

I assumed I would still want to play Arceus more than this, and it sound like my assumption was correct. See you in another two years Game Flop.

I honestly hope this game doesn’t actually come out on the Switch just like Genshin Impact. Both games are crazy in detail and the Switch should maybe only allow an experience through GeForce Now or something else. Stadia or Steam Deck will be the best ways to experience this game.

I also don’t understand how the new Pokemon game is coming out next week. That game should have only been released on PC because of how advanced it is.

A four seems incredibly harsh here. No offense, but this definitely deserves a second opinion before this publication. As others have noted, with the general user experience being very positive, a four seems way too low.

When Cyberpunk was released as a broken game, I don't even think that received as low of a score.

Sableye is one of my most disliked Pokemon design wise. Does nothing for me.

Good on Arceus. Most fun I have had in a Pokemon game since Silver and Gold.

A new version of this game would be an instant buy. One of my all-time favorites to play. Still holds up well.

Rock Band 4 just got MOAR MUSE this past season so… I would say the golden age of music licensing ain’t over yet. 😉 🤘🏻

I'm very excited for Goldeneye and Pilot Wings.

That said, I would be just as excited for Diddy Kong Racing and DK64.

This looks fantastic but as others have said, this isn't for me. The OG is the best as it's literally a pro controller split into two. This should be able to cater to those with smaller hands though.

What did I just watch? A bunch of Fortnite skins that have been in the game for years and the camera was focused on dead space. I'm writing Epic a strongly worded letter. I really felt like they were going to reveal a new skin behind that door... but then it was just haze.

We need more of Arceus mechanics moving forward with just some refinements. Big step forward. Best Pokemon game by far from a fun factor.

This game is a perfect example of a game that should have a more modern version developed asap. This would sell like hotcakes. Imagine if you will a more detailed world that is very well polished more so than any mainstream Pokemon game. Though, if they ever do a newer version they should definitely eliminate being able to trigger evolutions. No one liked that feature. The developer I feel like could handle this perfectly is Bandai Namco. Get on it Nintendo!!

Seriously? It's not happening people. Temper your expectations. Nintendon't will not have another Nintendo Direct until they unveil their new Switch 360 Oculus Plus in 2037.

@Grumblevolcano I thought it was pretty apparent last week when the new Pokemon trailer dropped that we weren't getting a direct. I honestly think the reasoning is because they are currently in the midst of a hostile takeover via Elon Musk.
