@iLikeUrAttitude I agree with the completion aspect. I think it took me several months before I beat the main story in Arceus even. Considering the game loop in this game, it'll probably take me even longer to beat the ZA story.
Love this game so far through and through... about 20 hours in and only rank F so far. The main buildings exteriors could look better but overall everything in this game (save for massive wild areas) are better than Arceus.
The human mannerisms in cut scenes are fantastic, Pokemon actually have personality in this game, very cute and charming game from some of the main story and side missions with Pokemon, excellent battle system with so much dynamic play at foot (battled 8 Pokemon at once at one point haha), and the music is stellar.
I have moments where I just walk down a street with my partner Pokemon enjoying some sights and definitely the sounds of the game. This is another amazing Legends game that I dearly hope TPC builds upon from here on out. I just pray that the Turn Based battles are finally gone for good moving forward or TPC allows you to choose between two gameplay mechanics.
I need to do a formal video review of this game cause my wife and I are honestly addicted to it.
@Grumblevolcano Yeah it's all down to the actual development team. It seems like everyone that makes 1st party games for Nintendo do a great job except for the team under GameFreak that did SV. The team for GameFreak that did Arceus clearly has their hands all over ZA.
Definitely much sharper image quality. Runs as smooth as butter on Switch 2. Played only a couple hours last night but already loving it more than Arceus!
If they added voice acting it would be a damn near perfect experience!
@DennisReynolds Dennis - you'll still be able to get it. Don't worry about FOMO. These rewards will come back around and I guarantee there will be other ways to obtain these in the future rather through Mystery Gift distributions or otherwise. Keep it Sunny
@SViper This isn't an issue if you're worried about shiny hunting... this game literally sets the new standard for that. Like in Arceus, a Pokemon that spawns will remain there until battled or fled (aka Abra).
@OmegaX83 No, you're good. It seems for some the only thing that has kicked so far is the day one update due to already purchasing the DLC. I would wait a couple days before getting too concerned.
@Segakid Agreed - it seems very lacking from a true open world concept. I'm very intrigued to see what all is in the game though since there seems to be an underground.
And while it's DLC and not part of the base game, the new area that will be coming later next year to explore may scratch that itch as well. Time will tell.
@michellelynn0976 It's ok, there are plenty of us that are very hyped for this game! We have been eating well so far with the launch of Switch 2. Excited to see if this is the most challenging and most fun Pokemon experience to date!
Also, just looked at another trailer posted. While some of the buildings do look lackluster for textures, the water in the game for the rivers, etc. looks amazing!! Also, in Donkey Kong Bananza I'm pretty sure they're using particle physics for all of the water. Standing under waterfalls/running water has never looked so good.
@PharoneTheGnome Same - haven't streamed in a while but this is definitely bringing me back! I packed a ton of hours into Arceus... this game looks like it has so much more to offer.
@Segakid the Pokemon are actually interacting with each other and the environment in this game. If anything, this is the most life a Pokemon game has ever had.
Do the building textures look subpar? Sure, but the textures in Arceus weren't great either.
@ElRoberico It should be bringing all the features forward from Arceus including tasks... so other than a new region to explore, it's building entirely off of what's been done in Arceus.
@Jhena I think what's strange is more has been shown off on this game vs Arceus before it was released. Arceus surpassed all expectations. I expect this to do the same. Since it's a solo game (aka not two versions like red/blue etc.), you should be able to complete the Pokedex the same as Arceus.
@Bahamut_GR Bandai Namco will hopefully make a true Pokemon game one day as well. Game Freak is learning though... the next Gen game should be pretty exciting if it's built entirely off of these last two Legends games.
@Segakid Ok definitely!! We should all agree to that. The DLC story of that game was fantastic though. Z-A is building off of everything in Legends so it should be the best yet!
@Chlocean Agreed… do I want developers making proper ports though? Absolutely. Am I eating well on Switch 2? Yes!! And it’s only going to get better from here. 🤗
Just give us Palworld instead... much better game overall than anything Pokemon has given us in decades...
Ok, sarcasm aside, I want to know what's holding GameFreak back on making a truly remarkable Pokemon game. Other companies have made spinoffs that look so much better and cleaner. And GameFreak themselves have a visual marvel of a game coming out soon. Are they just hampered by Creatures when it comes to creativity and timelines due to their TCG release schedule?
Either way this game looks like a big step in the right direction. But the visuals at this point honestly look worse than what we had in Arceus. I will reserve my final judgements for after I have played the game (for a thousand hours no doubt haha).
Announcing DLC ahead of release is nothing new, even for Nintendo (ala BotW and Smash). What I'm intrigued on, as my hype is ever climbing for this game, is what all will be included for that $30 price tag.
The DLC that was included in Scarlet and Violet was pretty substantial and was very much well needed for the story of the game. Honestly, the DLC ended up turning the game into one of my favorite Pokemon games of all time.
As for DLC for ZA, I'm expecting either a full new region or areas to explore outside of the city. As people have already stated, Pokemon announcing in advance that this game will have legs for support unlike Arceus is absolutely huge (Arceus is my favorite Pokemon game to date). I can understand the frustration around announcing DLC in advance, but with how hard in the paint the marketing has been for this game thus far, this new game (whether you like it or not) is the new direction for the main line games going forward (battle style revamped, cannot transfer pokemon back to prior games, Champions replacing turn based combat).
@PeterTomlan86 It’s not excluding so much as letting Game Freak have some creative freedom to create something new and fun to play. Battles need to be more freeform and dynamic as seen in the Anime. Seems Legends ZA is heading down the route and looks promising. Hopefully that’ll continue to get polish and evolve overtime in the mainline/new generations games.
Eventually, if all goes well, we could then see both turn-based and real time battles on display at Worlds.
@Bobb Yup - there were two announcements here that were much bigger and more important for the future of Pokemon than what was in the Presents. Very exciting times!
@TheBigK you’re not an odd-man out… Arceus sold well and this game is going to change Pokemon going forward. I believe it’s the sole reason Champions is coming out because there’s a good section of the fan base that just wants their standard, basic turn based gameplay.
Wtf is this comment section?? Real time battles brings us that much closer to the Anime. Every situation in a Pokemon game should be 100% dynamic making for an exciting experience every time you play.
Legends Arceus was just the beginning. You want your turn-based, stale Pokemon formula, well you have 30 years of that. It’s time for Pokemon to finally evolve and be one of the best game series again.

Totodile… wife picked Chikorita. We also got very lucky getting their respective plushies from our Pokemon Center orders. 🤗
Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?
Just do full voice acting like in Detective Pikachu Returns - both human and Pokemon voices. Would be phenomenal.

@Pho Literally my only gripe is lack of voice acting. Favorite Pokemon game over Arceus for me and I've only just begun.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z‑A Ranked Battles Season 1 Now Live, Reach 'Rank K' For A Special Reward
@GgGames It takes minutes to gain it in "competitive" gameplay.
And the game does come with a free trial to NSO (as I assumed it would).

Re: Delightful Looking RPG 'Witchbrook' Has Been Delayed On Switch and Switch 2
My wife and I cannot wait for this game!! Sad about the delay but it looks like a lot of care is going into it.
That said, with how big our backlog of games will be by the end of the year, I'm ok with one delay haha.

@darkfenrir who is your favorite reviewer?

Crazy that one of the worst reviews for this game is from Nintendo Life. Also - appreciate the honest review!!

@mikegamer Was a legitimate question. I will cancel now and buy Digimon three times over right now to support your cause if you say so.
Re: PSA: Pokémon Legends: Z-A eShop Preloads Go Live Ahead Of Launch
@mikegamer Ok should I cancel my preorders and get Digimon instead since it's the superior Pokemon game to one that hasn't even released yet?

@ShieldHero Apparently you only have to play a match or two without even having to win. Pretty low bar to acquire the mega stones needed.

@Segakid This entry and Arceus are big steps towards the Pokemon games we dream of having. Sorry this isn't for you.

@AllBLK Looks pretty buttery smooth on the Switch 2.
