Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Has Now Sold Over 22 Million Copies, Closing In On Gold & Silver's Sales

kal_el_07241

Gross - if I was GameFreak I would keep releasing half-baked unfinished games. No reason to stop at this point.

Gold and Silver were perfect sequels with amazing post-game content that still hasn't been matched by any other game series to this date.

Scarlet & Violet is basically trash. Zero innovation with ideas removed from Arceus, a lackluster online experience living in the stone age, and performance issues up the wazzoo. The biggest shame of S/V is that the new Pokemon they introduced are actually really awesome. But the game doesn't even come close to doing this IP justice.

@kal_el_07241 This is perfect... The alternate dimension versions, the gold violin, Planet Express, Nibler, Zoidberg's Scuttle hahaha

I'm excited for this crossover! Also, first new episode had me in stitches yesterday.

Re: Futurama Crashes Into Fortnite Soon

Yeah we're back...

I hope in the video that's supposed to drop tomorrow it's immediately cutoff by Fry exclaiming "Shut up and take my money!"

I still find it crazy that that line wasn't until after the show was revived by Comedy Central. This show's entire history over the course of 24 years has been absolutely insane. I hope it's finally here to stay. All glory to the hypnotoad. It's finally time to reinforce Brannigan's Law.

Re: Feature: How Summer Holidays And Childhood Nostalgia Revolutionised Pokémon

kal_el_07241

Aw yes 2003 - I was 15 at the time and I talked myself into getting these as Pokemon was a children's game. This was the last entry I played until 13 years later a mobile game roped me back into the franchise.

Since Pokemon Go's release, I have bought up every new entry into the Pokemon game library that has dropped on the Switch. My warning at this time is harkened back to my time with Ruby and Sapphire however - my level of interest in the games due to the crudely released Scarlet and Violet may send me packing once again.

My new favorite Pokemon game at this juncture though is Legends Arceus.

Re: Minecraft's Switch Version Earns More Revenue Than Xbox And PlayStation

kal_el_07241

@nhSnork I'm the same. I have double and triple dipped on games just to have them as part of my massive library on the Switch. The Switch is my ultimate gaming platform at this point. My PC is primarily used for competitive gaming only. My new fancy PS5 has been collecting dust for some time now sadly.

Next double dip in sight: Arkham Knight Trilogy

Re: Japanese Charts: Etrian Odyssey Origins Sees Strong Debut, But Nothing Troubles Zelda: TOTK

kal_el_07241

@Nourldean Games, games, games...

The reason the Switch has been so successful has been games. It's destroying any competitor right now due to an amazing game. Nintendo has no incentive to throw out a new console generation if its current console is still kicking every other competitor's peaches.

Question is, how long will it take Sony and Microsoft to change course? If they both intend to be just 3rd party machines solely then it's only a matter of time before they will no longer be producing consoles.

Re: Pokémon HOME Support Release Date For Scarlet And Violet "Mistakenly Announced"

kal_el_07241

Pokemon is done. Wake me up when this property is in better hands. What's crazy is Pokemon has had so much potential to be a crazy awesome experience in a video game and they have trailed so hard behind all other developers that Zelda is by far and away a better experience than we may ever get with Pokemon.

Hopefully big changes take place soon. I'm very hesitant to consider getting the Pokemon DLC when it launches primarily because it has been 6 months and no true improvements have been made to performance. Meanwhile, Zelda has been out for a week and already had two meaningful patches.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

kal_el_07241

@nintendolife Why can't we have a choice higher than 10?

BotW was a 10... no doubt. But this game is something else entirely. It's only been a week that this game has been out but it is without a doubt the greatest game I have ever played. For me, it gets a score at least double of BotW. The sheer amount of changes and content thrown into this game is astounding. This game is an accomplishment for the ages and sets a new standard for what a AAA title should be.

We are once again in the midst of a golden age of video games. I reminisce in the days of the 90's and 00's of the classics I played. But we are officially in rarified air once again... and I'm breathing it all in.

Thanks Nintendo

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Has Surpassed 10 Million Sales In Three Days

kal_el_07241

I honestly don't get the "It's BotW dlc" criticism.

It makes the most sense to have a sequel set in the already established Hyrule so why make a completely new map? And besides that, the ability additions are stupid incredible, the map is extremely changed for POI's with so much more packed in, and there are two additional maps to explore much less other areas outside of the normal Hyrule map.

This game feels like it has more than twice the amount of content BotW did with a creative kicker thrown into the mix. For a game that's set in a defined world, this is a definitive example of how to make a proper sequel. Probably going to be playing BotW and TotK for the rest of my life.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Has Surpassed 10 Million Sales In Three Days

kal_el_07241

Absolutely well deserved. This game is a masterpiece and a perfect example of listening to your community and packing so much detail into an extremely vast world to create and explore in.

Anyone involved with other AAA games (especially Pokemon) should take note that this is how you make games. Nintendo is absolutely killing it with seemingly no signs of slowing down.

Meanwhile my new shiny Xbox and PS are collecting dust due to lack of any games.

Re: Feature: Pokémon TCG Community Engulfed In Potential Fraud Scandal

kal_el_07241

I heard about this over the weekend but wasn't sure if it's true.

It will be very interesting to see how the Pokemon Company handles this. I doubt it will lead to reprints but anything is possible. My wife and I got back into collecting cards during the SwSh era and absolutely love some of the artwork as of the late. In fact, there's a big reason both the Umbreon and Rayquaza shown above are so highly valued - their art is exceptional.

The new Scarlet & Violet sets are off to a great start as well. It's definitely been a fun albeit expensive hobby for us lately.

Re: Round Up: Here's What Switch Online Players Think Of GoldenEye 007 So Far

kal_el_07241

Once you remap the controls the game is honestly more fun than it was 25 years ago. I remember my discomfort when playing with the n64 controller and couldn’t play long sessions without my hands hurting. I’m having a blast unlocking all the cheats for multiplayer the hard way. Finally destroyed the Facility time target which I was never close to doing as a child. Can’t wait to play multiplayer with friends!!

Re: Best Of 2022: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

kal_el_07241

Considering that this is primarily a handheld device, I think it's incredible that the only issue I have had with it was the joycon drift.

That being said, I haven't used joy cons in two years. I use the split pad pro for mobile play and pro controllers when docked. Still clocks in a few hours of BotW, Fortnite, or Pokemon before needing a charge.

Overall, I strongly recommend a Switch to anyone who doesn't already have one. It's certainly dependable.

Things that I do want improvements on however:
-Stronger graphics chip
-Better wifi card
-Better bluetooth capabilities (voicechat for headphones when mobile)
-Better overall voicechat integration for online play
-Stronger battery life

That's it. Pretty simple really.

Re: Pokémon UNITE Code Gives Coins And Gold Emblem Box To Celebrate 100 Million Downloads

kal_el_07241

@Powloon As someone who plays this game from time to time, I have to 100% agree. Most of their cosmetics in the game are geared toward the trainer which is odd since no one can really ever see your trainer except at the end of matches. And their prices for Pokemon and cosmetics on the whole are about 10x more expensive than what you would get for the same price in something like Fortnite. They also have a battle pass that nets you truly no real rewards. Luckily for them the gameplay is pretty decent. Everything outside of that though is complete and utter garbage.

Re: Video: Here's A Look At Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Performance (Version 1.1.0)

kal_el_07241

It's a small step. I noticed a lot of jagged edges smoothed out and framerate at certain distances taken care of. But it's still not where it needs to be. There are still frame rate issues with the windmills for example and other graphical items that should be cleaned up and/or improved. They should really be looking into updating textures as well to put it more inline at least with Arceus.

Re: Review: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet - An Open-World Poké Playground Full Of Promise (And Tech Issues)

kal_el_07241

Just let Bandai/Namco take a shot at this. Their Pokemon Snap game was just a tease of what a true open world Pokemon could look like. There's no reason that game could look so pristine and run smoothly where these games look and run like garbage.

I assumed I would still want to play Arceus more than this, and it sound like my assumption was correct. See you in another two years Game Flop.

Re: Video: Hogwarts Legacy Shows Off Magical New Gameplay Footage

kal_el_07241

I honestly hope this game doesn’t actually come out on the Switch just like Genshin Impact. Both games are crazy in detail and the Switch should maybe only allow an experience through GeForce Now or something else. Stadia or Steam Deck will be the best ways to experience this game.

I also don’t understand how the new Pokemon game is coming out next week. That game should have only been released on PC because of how advanced it is.
