Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th April)

Yalloo

@cosmograph Tropical Freeze is definitely fun. I found it a bit short somehow, or maybe it's just a bit easier than Returns, which I did a couple of weeks back.
I'm also curious about the level of challenge in Bananza ... since you can break everything! I'm not 100% sold on the gameplay just yet, need to see more.

Trombone Champs is a big disappointment indeed. The gameplay is just ridiculous, the song selection is mostly anthems and bad versions of old classics, it sounds horrible and is imo mostly unplayable. There's also this layer of "humor" that is just not funny. I'm sure even with drinks and friends there is nothing there to be enjoyed. Just a cash grab novelty. But hey, I was curious ...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th April)

Yalloo

Hey happy gamers,

Curious about what you are all playing.
Here are my gaming plans for the weekend:

  • World of Goo 2: reached 100% and now going for the flags, I need one per level and I've got 6 levels to go. It's a cool game but the controls are abysmal.
  • DKC Tropical Freeze: I've also reached 100% there but seeing that I've spent more time this week with Goo, I kinda feel like I want more out of this one. So I'll still try hard mode.
  • Tetris Effect Connected: participating in the weekend ritual + full moon, that's become my weekly addiction.
  • Trombone Champs: this one is pretty bad, I'll do another couple of rounds just to confirm. It's been a long time since I've played such a lame game on my sweet Switch. Good thing is... all the other games feel so good in comparison!

Happy gaming! โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

Yalloo

I was very disappointed. I can't vote, I think it's the wrong poll, but I wouldn't rate it more than 5.

So the user manual is interactive - ok - but sold separately?
Mario Kart open world didn't catch my interest, I'd say it's missing the point of the whole MK games.
No new 3D Mario?
A new Hyrule Warriors but not before winter, and without Link?
Selling the same games with upgrades? And what kind of upgrades too ...
A new button ... for chat functionality ... I may be too old but having to listen to people talk while I'm playing my games is a big no, and having them in from of my screen, are you kidding!
Now Elden Ring, Duskbloods and Hitman that's OK. But Silksong not coming to Switch??

Anyways, I'll sleep on it and check out the Treehouses in the coming days. But right now I almost want to cancel my invite for the handson experience in May. Let's see ....

Re: Nintendo Drops Teaser Video For The Switch 2's 'C' Button

Yalloo

I'm thinking mouse-mode is automatically recognized by the controller when they're turned around and placed on a surface, I mean that just cannot be any other way.

Chat certainly doesn't require a dedicated button, how lame would that be to make this such a special feature. I personally could not care less for such an option.

Cast? When you dock your console and start playing on the TV directly.. also doesn't make sense.

Connecting to an old Switch, I couldn't believe Nintendo would go back to this area where you can what ... see a map while you're playing and the game's not even on pause?!

I think if they're still teasing this one day ahead of the presentation, it is the little trick they've got left up their sleeve and I'm really curious about what it could be ... I can't think of anything, but I really hope that it will be a cool Switch 2 gimmick!

Re: Has The Xbox Switch 2 Rival Just Revealed Its True Form?

Yalloo

This is surely not the site to advertise this. But interesting to know none the less.

I think MS should better focus on what they're good at. They've got a nice OS for PCs and laptops and a great Office suite.
Anything else, buying anything like a rich spoiled child feels completely misplaced from my perspective. And I don't wish them any success in those areas.

They can keep selling their games on Switch though, I have enjoyed the Ori and Cuphead games. Again unfortunately, something they've purchased, not made themselves.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th March)

Yalloo

This weekend I am playing:

  • DKC Tropical Freeze: last time I checked I had reached 76%, now going through world 6. It's fun, a bit frustrating at times but a really good platformer, always feels fresh. I'm hoping there's a mirror mode just like in Returns, that will be a good excuse to go through all of the levels one more time after I'm done.
  • Tetris Effect Connected: participating in the weekend ritual + full moon, as usual, unlocking my little icons. During matchmaking I usually come back to this page to read more of what everybody else is playing!
  • Trombone Champs: I plan to check this one out, see if it can be a fun rythm game or if the novelty wears off quickly.

Happy gaming!! โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Predictions - What Do You Want To See?

Yalloo

@LXP8 Aha, good one. It never even crossed my mind that they could do a DLC for that game. I'd be curious as to what they could possibly come up with... It was a pretty short game and could use some extra content imo.

Oh yeah, as for the other Direct news, I'd love to see MP2&3 coming to Switch. And maybe a Yoshi game too.
Aside from ports/remakes/remasters, I don't have my hopes up. Surprise me!

Forgetting what's actually important. Celebrating the 15 years of Bayonetta ... what are they cooking? An anniversary Amiibo, a special game, what exactly?? The year is going to expire quickly and besides an online art contest, so far nothing came out of these celebrations.

Re: After Copying Smash's Homework, MultiVersus Publisher Was Apparently Turning To Mario Kart Next

Yalloo

@ArcadeSixties I get what you're saying.
I don't know if you've played Tunic, but it was mainly coming from a developer who as a kid didn't understand English and played games where he needed to guess everything since he was missing out on the explanations.
The concept is actually brilliant and quite something else than Zelda games. Now there are similarities of course and calling the game Tunic is likely a tribute.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd March)

Yalloo

@LikelySatan Hey,
I can't speak for the other games you've mentioned but the Aragami games are all about stealth imo. There's some tricks involved like "warping" to nearby shadows and such, but most of the games, you're looking around at what are the enemies doing and how you're going to get around the place to reach your goal. It's a lot of waiting around and planning your next move.
I've spent around 100h on #2 clearing all the missions and getting all of the badges (killing everyone, killing no one, .. ) and I knew I was going to get back to #1 to finish what I had started. I'd say both #1 and #2 are very similar. Just maybe the missions are longer in #1. They do have checkpoints though.
Be warned, the performance on Switch is pretty bad. It lags and it crashes. (both of them) But still, I've been enjoying myself a lot. Cheers!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd March)

Yalloo

My weekend plans, gaming-wise:

  • Aragami: I've been playing this during the week and I've got 3 missions left with 2 seals missing each. So I'll be doing that, and I'll look into the DLC afterwards to see what is left for me to do there.
  • DKC: Tropical Freeze: that's the next game I plan on getting into. Probably I'll start that on Sunday.
  • Tetris Effect Connected: I'll participate in the weekend ritual and full moon, as usual.

Happy weekend! Happy gaming! โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8th March)

Yalloo

What am I playing this weekend? Good question!

  • Figment 1&2: two short games, that will be a quick win for the backlog ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  • Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland: I want to start this one doing one level a day, since it's also pretty short.
  • Tetris Effect Connected: participating in the weekend ritual and full moon as usual.

Happy Gaming!! โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Samsung Shows Off Its Switch-Inspired Foldable Handheld

Yalloo

I get that foldable screens are meant to protect the screen while in a bag or pocket, but that's just not the way to go if you ask me. Better just a screen protection or carrying case.
Smart thinking the holed buttons to allow for joysticks, just in practice it doesn't seem to make any sense.
Overall this seems like just another overpriced commercial for the brand.

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct

Yalloo

I think they really need to show some amazing games, get the console off to a crazy good start.
NSO is probably something that can wait, no need for too much information/details/specs right from the start.
Cyberpunk doesn't have my interest, and hearing about all the sexual stuff involved in this game, I'm not sure it would be a fit straight off the console's first year.

Re: Nintendo Awarded $7 Million In Win Against Counterfeit amiibo Sellers

Yalloo

@Spider-Kev Oh that's too bad ..

I was just looking at Amazon.com out of curiosity and it seems that some of the ones you are missing are available there. Of course I don't know what's the normal price of an Amiibo in USD and it looks more expensive than I would have imagined...

But again, all the best with your collection, it seems you're almost there!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st March)

Yalloo

I'm finishing up Cocoon, at 70% according to the pause menu. Loving everything about it, just too bad it's so short.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, I've got the Fort Hateno, as well as the other level 80+ missions left in very hard mode to go through.

I will participate in the weekend ritual and full moon @ Tetris Effect Connected.

Have fun with your games!

Re: Poll: Will You Trade In Your Switch When Switch 2 Arrives?

Yalloo

I have the OG Switch, the OLED and the limited TotK edition. I may end up giving my OLED to somebody in need of a Switch some day but I see no rush there. The problem with that is I would have to part ways with a pair of joy-cons as well and each of them hold so many precious memories... So I'll probably end up keeping all three Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd February)

Yalloo

Looking forward to reading all about what everybody else is playing! I'm juggling between these three games this weekend:

  • Cocoon: Started a couple of days ago and I'm in shock at how smart this game is built. I'm only "two worlds" in, but I'm loving this little puzzle game, the sci-fi setting is perfect too.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity: I've reached the last couple of missions in very hard mode and it's pretty tough. So I've started the game over on normal difficulty to farm some rupees and level up my weapons as much as possible. I also really enjoy the story and cutscenes. The Divine Beasts parts on the other hand is a real nightmare and would have better been left out of the game imo.
  • Tetris Effect Connected: Taking part in the weekend ritual and full moon, unlocking some more avatars for my collection...

Happy gaming / weekend !! โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Bonkers Metroidvania 'Rusty Rabbit' Now Has A Switch eShop Demo

Yalloo

I've downloaded the demo, been curious about this one since the previous article here on NL. But demoing only the first level makes me affraid the game is quite short ..? Anyways, could be interested and there's already a physical version planned for end June, so I'm happy to try it out. Not sure it will be my cup of tea, but the overal trip sounds fun and gameplay looks like it could be fun too.

Re: Nintendo Is Discontinuing Gold Points, One Of The Switch's Best Incentives

Yalloo

That would have been a fun article to read on April 1st ... but today ... it's just a very disappointing thing to read ... not that it was extraordinary, it never delivered huge amounts of cash, but it always felt so special to get some gold points to use small discounts on more games. ๐Ÿ˜ข Just got 23 points yesterday, and even though you'd give me 23 cents I'd wonder what's wrong with you, these 23 gold points just made me happy ... it's silly but still, those little things in life ...

Re: Review: WARRIORS: Abyss (Switch) - Middling Musou With A Dash Of Diablo & Hades

Yalloo

@roy130390 Thanks for that. I've just checked a couple of videos online and added this one to my wishlist. I was always curious to get into one of the "original" warriors games after enjoying both HW so much but never knew which one. I think this one will do the trick.
My backlog is pretty big, and I'm getting my fix with Age of Calamity right now, but I'll certainly get to 8 Xtreme one of these days.
Very much appreciate your recommendation ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th February)

Yalloo

  • Stray: that was a cute little sci-fi story, I was looking for the remaining memories but figured I have to re-do the full chapters so I'll leave it at that. 81% is also fine.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calimity: going to get back to this one, reading about the new warriors game really got me in the mood!
  • Avicii Invector: after reaching 95+% on every track, I'm going for A rank or better. Gameplay is a bit lose but still plenty of fun and even though there are only 36 tracks, most of them are pretty good.
  • Tetris Effect Connected: participating in the weekly ritual & full moon (my weekend routine).
  • Tetris 99: I got mine already, don't forget to unlock your DKC Returns theme!
  • Ghost 'n Goblins: I got back into this NSO game, I've beaten it once (fake ending) and I'm at part 4 again on my way to beating it for real this time ... I think I'm using rewind just as much as jumping and shooting XD

Happy gaming everybody! โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ
