Re: Poll: Does Anyone Actually Use The Switch Joy-Con Straps?

Yalloo

I actually sometimes use them, makes the controllers a bit bigger, handy for the shoulder buttons when sharing joy-cons playing MK8D. And otherwise ARMS and Move It indeed.
I recently used them even for Tetris Effect, wanted to play it on the TV and my Pro Controller was synched with the other Switch so I thought it would be quicker and handier.

Re: Bayonetta Veteran Confirms PlatinumGames Departure

Yalloo

Bayonetta Origins was clearly made with a lot of love, but imo also showed that the team lacked a lot of experience.

The Bayonetta franchise is well established and they have all the elements already in place to make another trilogy without needing much input. And let's be honest, if they mess it up, what are they left with ... ?

Re: PlatinumGames Is Celebrating 15 Years Of Bayonetta With Year-Long Event

Yalloo

I am really hoping for a celebration game.

It wouldn't be mainline, but it could be just a selection of locations from all games/as arenas, and selections of enemies to defeat, with a collection of trophies to unlock. Kind of a bigger version of the Angel Slayer or a collection of many Witch Trials. Could also be wider, including Alfheim type challenges. With all the combos, weapons, demons and masquerades ... there's a possibility to make a game basically just re-using characters, assets, gameplay, ... and it could be super fun.

Also looking forward to whatever surprises Platinum is going to share. Really happy about this news bit, I'm happy P+ is doing something to keep the attention/interest on the witch. Being the big fan of the series that I am, I was sadden thinking they hadn't considered celebrating the 15th years of such a fun game.

Bring it on!! ๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Nintendo's Punch-Out!! Series May Be Dead And Buried For Good

Yalloo

Love to read all the positive comments regarding ARMS, having had so much fun with this game. Would love a sequel, I think there's so much potential and also room for improvement.
Punch Out on the other hand isn't something I've played enough to really care. I did get the Wii game on the Wii U, but still need to give it a try!

Re: Feature: 15 Best-Looking Switch Games Of 2024

Yalloo

Really glad to read these games sitting in my backlog will not only be fun to play but beautiful to look at:

  • Animal Well
  • Bo
  • Schim
  • Echoes of Wisdom

I'm sure Nine Sols will also be one of them, with the physical coming in 2025.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (New Year Edition)

Yalloo

@cosmograph I got a notification directing me here but I can't find your comment, how weird!

Good that you're feeling better, I've also been a bit sick during the Xmas holidays.
Wish you lots of fun with your Ring Fit, this game is just perfect for exercising at home!

To let you know, Hall of Famer is the title you get when you reach S rank in the Core Crusher mini-game in advanced mode. Took me literally forever to get that one!

Otherwise, I'm tracking my progress and here is what I am still missing:

Titles: 275 / 281

Open & Close Leg Raises 2486 / 3000
Overhead Squats 2233 / 3000
Hip Lifts 2987 / 3000

Bootstrap Tower Adv. S

Hoping to get the last title by end of January, curious which one it will be.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (New Year Edition)

Yalloo

I've been playing a lot of Tetris Effect and Ring Fit Adventures (where I've finally unlocked the Hall of Famer title - I thought the Core Crusher mini-game would just never let me) this past week and I've started Melatonin, which is fun, very simple and easy but kinda has Warioware vibes to it. Curious if I can perfect all of the mini-games.

Happy holidays and all of my best wishes ๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Catly Developer Says Game Does Not Use Generative AI, Blockchain Tech, Or NFTs

Yalloo

I'd love to add/participate to this discussion, but the only thing I can say is that it looks ugly, creepy and boring. I also think that calling this a gameplay trailer is a mistake.
If I would be working for the company behind this, and this is a real videogame project, I would be extremely concerned with the reactions and be currently working really hard on my game's image and damage control. If this is AI ... it's a great message to whoever wants to pursue this kind of projects and I'm very happy about it.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed Updated, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Yalloo

I haven't played this game, but I'm always a bit disappointed when they change the difficulty of a game, especially months after it's released.
Meaning somebody who beat it/cleared challenges before the update or after the update would have actually achieved something different and that doesn't show in the game. Imo, it would have been better to make a beta/demo before releasing the game to adjust this to a final state.

And yes, if you tell me that there are worse things in life than this, I will definitely agree with you.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024 - Our Most Played Games

Yalloo

1. Tears of the Kingdom - 273h
2. Tetris 99 - 88h
3. Bayonetta 2 - 65h

I've played 42 games for a total of 1,068h (much less than the 1,500h from 2023 ... ).

I choose Bayonetta as my favourite game this year, think the Angel Slayer is my favourite challenge in videogames.
And I started the year off with Tetris Effect ... a good choice apparently ๐Ÿ˜

Really love my Switch and games ๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ
Looking at the comments, it seems that you all had some great times too! Isn't that just lovely!

Re: Hideki Kamiya Expresses Remorse Over Harsh Treatment Of ลŒkami Fan

Yalloo

@-wc- I'm in Europe (Amsterdam) and I think I got the notification of your message around midday. It's a bit late now, but I'm on holidays and it's hard to keep track of the time ๐Ÿ˜

It brought back many memories!
I remember reading about Myst in a CD-i magazine for a while before getting it. It was for me a big disappointment realizing it was a point-and-click game! In the mag it looked so dreamy and with such a special vibe.

But 7th Guest is on the Switch eShop if you want to catch-up on childhood memories ๐Ÿ˜… I remembered it took us months to go through the whole game and discussing it with my brother, but after downloading it on the Switch, I was done in a few hours ... it's actually a very short game with maybe around a dozen puzzles. Back in the days we were making "paper game guides" you know with drawings of the puzzles, logos, etc ... such passion ๐Ÿ˜

When you get to it, I'm curious to hear your impressions on the Bayonetta gameplay, if you feel like sharing ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Thanks for your messages, we'll exchange again on another topic I'm sure โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: 'Nintendo Music' Adds A Huge Zelda Soundtrack, Here's Every Song Included

Yalloo

Despite having played this game extensively, both the original and the remaster, I will be in the minority that's quite disappointed in it.
The soundtrack, despite having really great percussions and a couple of really nice tracks (basically the ones used in the Tetris 99 theme) is also my least favourite Zelda one.
Still happy to have been going through it today one more time, and that it's now part of this really cool app.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Expresses Remorse Over Harsh Treatment Of ลŒkami Fan

Yalloo

@-wc- The reason I asked is because I love the Bayonetta games and I find Witch Time one of the most satisfying mechanics in videogames to this day. So I was curious about RE (I probably played one of them a long time ago, but not into the genre/horror/zombie/survival), and wondering what I may have missed there. Your answer is very interesting, since you're looking at something else than gameplay, more the atmosphere, the setup and the cinematic technics used. And I totally get how that's something impressive as well. And subjective of course like you noted.

I'm 42, and a similar experience for me would be The 7th Guest, it was also probably one of the first games including filmed content into a pre-rendered 3D environment. And the atmosphere/premise was certainly one of the highlights in a puzzle game.

Something else you mentioned, that to younger people it could be hard to understand, it's surely very true and at the same time a bit sad, since the less detailed the graphics, the more room for the imagination, right.

I don't necessarily always agree with your comments, but certainly always enjoy and appreciate them!

Re: Nintendo Announces The Final Tetris 99 Maximus Cup For 2024

Yalloo

Yay! Like others have mentioned, I love to keep getting more themes in my Tetris 99. Hope this never ends and gets carried over to whatever Switch 2's online will be.

Cherry on the cake would be an option to get a random theme automatically selected each time you start a new game!

Re: Get Ready For Okami's Sequel With This Bargain eShop Sale

Yalloo

If you haven't played it, I would definitely recommend getting it since it's so cheap. The HD makes it look really awesome, but it's an old game that otherwise didn't age too well. It's very linear, combat is very simplistic and there is so much text to go through while it's unfortunately not very interesting. Furthermore the touch screen brush controls aren't too well optimized and makes it quite frustrating many times.
When taking all this into account, it's still a nice piece of art with lots of creativity and poetry.

Re: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024

Yalloo

@Lightsiyd Ah well, maybe I'm partly joking. I've still got plenty of games from 2023 and before keeping me busy. Makes me happy seeing all those great games waiting for me there and knowing I've got so many more great times ahead thanks to these ๐Ÿ˜… Didn't mean to startle you ๐Ÿ˜

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (7th December)

Yalloo

@Rainz Thanks for that. You've convinced me, I'll get it next time it's on sale. It's the kind of game I think will be best to have downloaded on the console, to play it between other games and avoid driving myself mad. Looking forward to it!

Cuphead is also very cool. I'll get back to it at some point to get the A/S achievements.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (7th December)

  • TMNT Shredder's Revenge: I'm going through the level challenges, missing only level 3 unharmed. That Turtle Tenderizer is what's keeping me from completing this one ... but I cleared it having taken a single hit, so I'm almost there. After that, I'll try to clear my last challenge: arcade mode in gnarly difficulty... ta da daaaa
  • some Just Shapes & Beats challenge runs in between to avoid going crazy
  • DK Land 3
  • Tetris 99: the Tetris theme is really cool, even though I keep hearing a drop in the volume here and there, which is really part of the loop. Was it originally like that?
  • I finally want to try Mega Man 11 in normal difficulty. The free DLC music is much better than the game's original imo, still not quite what I'd expect from a MM game but I do enjoy it much more.
  • Tears of the Kingdom: I've decided to give this game a rest, at least for now. After over a year and 400h, I've scanned my last Amiibos this morning, went through the shops one last time, shot my last Keese swarm, changed gears, took screenshots, witnessed the last sunset in Hyrule and brought Link back home. I'm sure to pick it up again in the future, this game is so beautiful. Luckily for my Zelda Switch, it will be time for another Zelda game soon!

Re: Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind Is No Longer Delayed For Switch

Yalloo

Definitely looking forward to reviews on this one. Power Rangers, just like TMNT were a big part of my youth, so huge nostalgia hit. And that trailer really shows some fun times.
Just why do they all have the same moves .. that takes away from replaying the story mode with each of the characters.
Anyways, will wait on the physical. โœŒ๐Ÿป

Re: Review: Fitness Boxing 3: Your Personal Trainer (Switch) - Terrible Tunes, But 'Box & Bond' Adds A Personal Touch

Yalloo

@FishyS I'd also like more variety. Especially since I have pretty much the same exercises in a little game from more than 10 years ago called Wii Fit U... that I still very much enjoy.

I have played through the demo of Fitness Boxing 3 and that didn't make me want to buy the full game. I still have #2 unopened and I do plan to give it a proper try once I collect all of the titles in Ring Fit Adventures. But I do need more variety in the exercises. And to be honest, I think the less there is of a "virtual trainer" the more enjoyable is the game and actually focused on the exercises.

I'm also curious about the Hatsune Miku spinoff (mostly for the music) but ... it will need a huge discount to make me get it.

Re: Random: Move Over Anakin, Link's Coming For That Podracing Title

Yalloo

I wonder how they managed to get that camera angle from under the pod, inside the canyon.
Looks amazingly cool.

Just kicked Ganon's butt once more and I can confirm the story is epic and insanely romantic. I absolutely love this game. Gameplay (aside from combat) is really cool and the environments are so full of great vibes overall. Likely my favourite Zelda of all times.
I wonder how they'll ever be able to top this with the next games ...

Happy to see such creations, and how different players make different things of the same game.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th November)

Yalloo

Happy weekend, happy gaming! ๐Ÿ•น
Here are my gaming plans:

  • TMNT: Shredder's Revenge: I've played through the story mode and leveled up both new characters yesterday.
I'm super excited to go through survival mode now with them both as I had such a great time with this mode when it released.
The "remixed" music on the other hand is a bit disappointing imo. I usually love MIDI music but these are certainly not as good as the originals. Still nice to have the option though.
  • Tears of the Kingdom: After doing another round of the Gleeoks and Lynels just in time for the Blood Moon, I want to watch all of the cutscenes one more time before kicking Mr. Baddy's behind one last time. I'm affraid I won't be able to give up on this game just yet, but let's see. I told myself .. as long as I enjoy it there's no real need to stop playing it.
  • Just Shapes and Beats: Still playing online runs in between other games, I'm in shock that after more than 50h on this game I still haven't grown tired of it.
  • Tetris 99: ... I'm just in love with Tetris...
  • Donkey Kong Land 2: I had never played those games before, not owning a GameBoy in my youth. I really enjoyed the music of #1 and that was pretty much it. Curious if #2 will be any better, but in any case there are worse ways to spend 2h.

I never played F-Zero X but have been listening to the soundtrack through Nintendo Music like an awesome rock album. I am in love! ๐Ÿ˜
