Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th February)

Yalloo

@Divide_and_Wander I keep an Excel sheet with all the games I own, with a column "completed" yes/no. I also have folders on my main Switch "New / Unfinished business / 100%". To be fair, I consider this to be part of the fun of videogames, just like collecting physical editions.

To avoid writing a book about it ... I'd say that I consider having completed a game once I'm satisfied with what I've done with it. That normally depends on how much I've enjoyed the game. If I didn't so much, rolling the credits is enough. If I did, I'll likely play through all the achievements, unlockables, collectibles, maxing out the skill trees, getting gold medals, playing through higher difficulties, etc ... now it can be that I will stop at some point if it becomes too hard, or if I get bored with it. But past the credits, I'm basically setting my own expectations as to what I will do and keep going for it as long as I have fun doing it. If I want more, I'll set new goals.
That also doesn't stop me from going for another playthrough in the future, but I consider that I have already completed the game then.

I wonder about this sometimes, even more with reviews and how far through the game do reviewers go. Especially when I see the yearly playtime of reviewers that feels so little compared to my own XD

I'd say overall that it is something very personal. It's supposed to be fun and also challenging (at least for me).
Videogames are imo the most evolved form of art that exists, so there's also that to enjoy, the visuals, animations, music, .... how much time are you supposed to stare at a painting before you've "seen" it .. ?!

@Divide_and_Wander Thanks for sharing. And interesting question, I never really imagined that the definition of backlog could be different for everyone!

I've got 23 boxed games that I haven't started yet. Just removed the plastic, slotted the gamecard once in the console to get the icon and moved it to my "New" folder. 5 of these are S2.
I've got one digital game in the backlog.

I've got 5 pre-ordered games and 2 awaiting to be pre-ordered.

So none of these have been played yet at all.
Retro games and remasters I already played but not from these versions.

Then I've got all the games I've already played through but want to get back to, I cannot count these, I'd say around 10. And finally the games on NSO, from back in the days when I was a kid, I want to discover or play through again.

I've done everything I wanted to do in Cyberpunk 2077, now I'm curious about the other two endings in Arasaka and Panam.

My other goal is to do daily runs in Have A Nice Death, since there are some more Curse cards I'd like to unlock.

I'll also look for the time to play the Darwin's Paradox demo since there is a pre-order available for a physical edition including an artbook at LRG.

And I'll participate in the weekend ritual @ Tetris Effected Connected.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mario Tennis Fever

Yalloo

I really like that NL is doing those random reviews round-up, helps put things into perspective. I would have loved for the whole game to be motion-control compatible ... that's what I really enjoy with tennis videogames. If they do a games-on-trial with this one I'll try it, but I'll likely won't enjoy much of it.

@Ooyah Videogames are great to keep you distracted. At the same time, it's such a nice hobby, right!

Rythm games can be very engaging if the gameplay clicks with you indeed. But it ends with each song, so it's up to you to go for another one ... and another one ... of course XD

There's usually a demo, I'm thinking of Taiko no Tatusjin or the Hatsune Miku Project Diva Mega Mix, and there is quite some variety in the music, but I'd say metal is a minority of tracks in those.

Metal songs, have a look at BPM: Bullets Per Minutes, it's a FPS rythm game, music is awesome. There's also Krimson, which is a rythm platformer. It's challenging. And industrial music, you must play Thumper, it's such a unique experience.

You know, I always really enjoy reading your comments, always so positive and so many cool games. Game on, my friend โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (24th January)

@LightSpirit Your message reminded me of what I said back when I was playing CB4: "Never again will I play a Crash game" XD I did spend almost 100h on it and unlocking all of the trophies, just not the super gem (or whatever it was) when you collect everything in one run. It's super frustrating and the levels are very long ... but I can tell you all is forgiven now and I'm ready for CB5 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Have fun with whatever games you will be playing in the future โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงก๐ŸŽฎ

Re: Surprise! Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition Has Been Rated

Yalloo

I remember playing a Rayman game on the computer as a child, but not sure if that's the one. There were levels in clouds and music notes. It was colourful and well-detailed, even though very pixelated.
Not sure if I'd like to replay such a game nowadays, must be more frustrating than fun, and I don't particularly feel nostalgia for it either. That, and all the bad news around Unisoft that became the new normal for them ... let's see if it releases and in which state.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (24th January)

Yalloo

Still missing some cards and character descriptions to unlock in Have A Nice Death, and a bunch of side quests and NCPD scanner alerts in Cyberpunk 2077 before I want to complete the DLC extension and the main storyline.

That's what I am playing at the moment.

I really fell in love with CP2077, just too bad the performance is not as good as overall mentioned. It runs OK for sure, but there is imo lots of room for improvement.
However the passion that went into making this game is a love letter to videogames. Beautiful!

Re: Feature: 40 Games We'd Love To See On Switch 2

Yalloo

That P* dropped the ball with Bayonetta 3 is something that hurts to read coming from the great PJ O'Reilly ... but aside from Ninja Gaiden 4, the games I'd love to see on Switch 2 are: Stellar Blade, Sekiro and Lies of Pi.

Re: Video: Nintendo Highlights Enhanced Switch Games On Switch 2

Yalloo

@the_beaver I think Bayonetta 3 could certainly benefit from an upgrade. But Astral Chains never gets mentioned and I agree with you, it could most certainly benefit from an upgrade as well. Especially with those beautiful visuals, art direction is one of its strong points.

Re: Video: Nintendo Highlights Enhanced Switch Games On Switch 2

Yalloo

@Angotic Both games have the exact same art direction. Gameplay however is very different. I also got stuck a lot in LA and didn't enjoy its linearity at all. It's imo a game from the past which mechanics are outdated. EoW on the other hand is quite fun but I'd say it doesn't really play like any Zelda games. Most of the time you're just figuring out which echoe you can use to solve a small puzzle/keep going forward. It's fun, it's short, I'd recommend it if that's what you're looking for.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th January)

@D-Star92 Best b-day wishes to you, fellow NLifer, may you be blessed with even more cool games!

@I_am_a_stick Welcome gamer! The comments sections are my favourite parts of NL. Lovely to see more fun people joining us here!

@urfaverenegade Always love to see people playing the Bayonetta games. Wish you all the fun of the world with it!

Re: The Live-Action Zelda Movie Is Coming To Netflix

Yalloo

Wish them all the best with this Zelda film adaptation and hopefully the Netflix deal will get more people to play the videogames ...

I've made my peace with it, this feels just like the Battle Angel Alita movie adaptation, not going to watch something that could potentially ruin the source material for me. It is way too valuable.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2025 'Year In Review' Is Available Now

Yalloo

@sportymariosonicmixx You have a point.
I would however like to suggest not to sound so brutal/violent in your comments, it's not necessary.
I believe the NL staff are all professional journalists, so it's up to them to decide what appears on their site and how. Your criticism comes accross as insulting. It's ok to disagree, and luckily we don't have to agree with everything, it's also ok to voice that disagreement, but there is no need to undermine the work of others.

This page is about users sharing their YiR. I would enjoy it if you would share yours too. Have I missed it ... or do I have to wait for the article with the NL staff YiR to read yours too ..? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: Nintendo Switch 2025 'Year In Review' Is Available Now

Yalloo

Thanks for everybody sharing their YiR, it was a lovely read. Here is mine:

I played 45 games and 1,256 hours:

1) Tetris Effect Connected - 225h
2) Hyrule Warriors AoC - 178h
3) Have A Nice Death - 134h

Action is my favourite genre and I've voted for Bayonetta 3 as my favourite game.

The timeline since Switch came out was unexpected and I'm not surprised of all the time spent on these amazing games:

Hyrule Warriors DE - 773h
Tetris 99 - 462h
Ring Fit Adventures - 412h
Zelda TotK - 400h
Zelda BotW - 321h

May 2026 be just as fun with many more cool games. And looking at my backlog, it seems like I'm on track ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Re: Nintendo Switch 2025 'Year In Review' Is Available Now

@sportymariosonicmixx Don't be so negative ... the news add up real quick on this site, which means they move quickly down the list and posting several times on the same topic allows more visibility to more visitors.

Nobody forces you to click, just like nobody forces you to use an adblocker ...

Re: Poll: Will You Be Getting The New Joy-Con 2 Set?

Yalloo

I'd like to have an extra pair of joy-cons 2, just in case, and these colours look nice.
Somewhere down the line I'll get these if they haven't come up with something more extravagant then.

Almost pre-ordered the blue and purple multi-use controller from LRG recently and told myself I really did not need it. So I'll try to at least wait a little bit before I get these...
