Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (28th March)

Yalloo

This weekend will be all about Super Mario Galaxy 2. Going to get all of the Power Stars before going to see the movie.

On the side, I'll keep on collecting badges @ ARMS, curses & penalties @ Have A Nice Death, and I'll participate in the weekly ritual @ Tetris Effect Connected.

Have a good one! ✌🏻🧡🎮

@Ooyah Heyya! Loved your note on Crypt Custodian, it reminded me of my playthrough last weekend. I think I had the same experience as you, absolutely loved the characters and the tone of the game. They got me straight from the begining when Kendra discovers the extra page in the book XD That just cracked me up. Only thing I thought the music was too atmospheric, they could have better gone with some old Gameboy style music. But overall a lovely game, simple, to-the-point and fun. Certainly recommend it. I think I'll come back to the boss rush mode at some point in the future. Have a great one!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th March)

Yalloo

I'm halfway through Crypt Custodian, which I'm enjoying a lot, love the tone and it's super cute.

I'm collecting badges in ARMS, still having a lot of fun with this old Switch game. Curious if I will manage to unlock them all. Unfortunately very few players in Ranked Matches though.

I'm going to participate in the weekly Tetris Effect Connected event.

And continue with my daily runs @ Have A Nice Death.

Happy gaming & weekend NL readers! ✌🏻🧡🎮

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Producer Can't Discuss DK's Future Just Yet, But Is Relieved After Fan Reception

Yalloo

I was never sold on the art style of this one, especially the weird colour choices. After trying it at the Switch 2 experience, I knew it wasn't for me. The gameplay just didn't click with me at all. I've seen my kid play through it and never felt like I wanted to give it another chance. She's not finished it (yet?) ...

Overall I do appreciate that Nintendo try and make their games different. I feel like this was quite an odd take on the 3D platformer genre. Really glad it sold well. Curious what else they will come up with in the future.

Re: Nintendo Shows Off Icon Design Proposals For Switch 2's 'C' Button

Yalloo

I've never pressed that button so much since I've been playing ARMS again XD

I've tried setting up GameChat with my daughter's Switch 2 but it proved way too many annoying steps before we could even try it out. So I abandoned. Much easier to just get into a Whatsapp call. So the one button/one action is just pure marketing, completely disconnected from reality.

Re: Cult Classic 'The 7th Guest' Is Getting A Full Remake On The Switch

Yalloo

@ChaoticIgnorance I heard many times about the 11th Hour but was never able to play it. I'd love for a re-release/remake of that one too. Is it a lot like the 7th Guest?
There was also a Kickstarter project for a new / third game some years back, but it didn't get funded unfortunately.

I loved the 7th Guest game back in the days, played it over and over on Philips' CD-i. Got the digital Switch version which I cleared within a couple of hours since I could remember everything.
I would definitely get a remake with those lovely visuals and twitched puzzles. Hope it will come as a physical hopefully running smoothly on Switch 2.

I think if you hadn't played it back in the days, there's surely much better similar games to play instead nowadays. But oh man the nostalgia for this one 😍

Re: Chained Echoes Dev Is Filing A Lawsuit Against Physical Distributor

Yalloo

@RupeeClock I cannot remember where I got it from but I did get my standard physical copy of Gravity Circuit. Hope you do end up getting your collector's edition soon too, it's a wonderful game!

Thanks NL for calling out those thieves, actually never heard of FPG before reading this. And I would be on the naive trustworthy side and just pre-order a game if and when it's listed.

On the other hand, I'm waiting to see what will happen with Ratatan and my Switch physical backing on Kickstarter. That's my only disappointment so far.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Tired Of The Talking Flower Yet?

Yalloo

I haven't played Fever or Jamboree but I was pleasantly surprised with that new character in Wonder, thought it made the world a bit more lively. And that's coming from a big shock at the announcement of talking characters in a Mario game. I considered getting the real life toy, but I imagine the number of lines will be very limited and pressing the button to have it talk makes it less fun. It should have reacted on its own in order to be a bit interesting imo.

Re: Veteran 'WarioWare' Director Goro Abe Has Left Nintendo

Yalloo

Wow, going from developing super popular games to teaching ... is not something I would do. But if that's what makes him happy, then all the best!

I found Get it Together to be so much fun and the weekly challenges was a great addition to keep me coming back to the game. Move It on the otherhand felt rushed and despite the motion controls making Smooth Moves such an extraordinary game, it didn't work so well with that last one.

I can only imagine students will be thrilled to have the chance of getting to know and learn from such a talented dev.

WAIP:

Collecting Curse cards in my daily runs of Have A Nice Death.
Participate in the weekend event @ Tetris Effect Connected.
I've started Little Nightmares III (super boring).
And I've reached world 2 in Yooka-Replaylee, which I am positively surprised about so far.

If, and when I find the time, I've got 3 demos awaiting my attention: Pragmata, Denshattack, and Timelie.

Happy gaming to all the Nintendo Life readers, I will enjoy reading what you're all up to this weekend! Have fun!✌🏻🧡🎮

Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch 1 & 2 Indie World Game In A New Infographic

Yalloo

I've backed a Switch physical copy of Ratatan on Kickstarter back in 2023. What a bad surprise to have to hear the release date first in the Nintendo Direct... a couple of hours later we got an email from Kickstarter saying "have you seen, we've announced the release date", and "btw, it would be too difficult for us to port it to the OG Switch, please choose another platform". At the moment it's not possible to change platforms and there's no confirmations of an actual physical card for the game on Switch 2. What a disappointment.

Aside from that, I'll be happy to try out the demo of Denshattack. Hope it's as fun as it looked in the trailer.

Re: Fallout 4 On Switch 2 Is Getting DLSS Support And Stability Improvements

Yalloo

@Rodygringo I recently finished playing Cyberpunk, and I had a lot of fun with it. Just a heads up, enjoy the game itself, I found all of the various endings to be quite the bummer. Apparently that's due to the source material wanting to be "realistic" and "down to earth". Maybe it's just me, but you'd want to keep the end for when you're really done playing everything else. Have fun! And hope that Fallout grows on you too!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st February)

Yalloo

@Jeff2sayshi Wish you have a great show, never heard of Nothing More prior to you mentioning them and I must say that what I've heard on youtube is quite promising, I will look for more. Thanks for sharing, and try not to miss AB next time 😉

@Ganner Thanks for your message! The show was great, AB never disappoint, the sound was amazing, and they played most of my favourites, including Fortress which I can't remember getting the honor to hear live myself. Yeah the Slash surprise must have been so awesome, Myles also doesn't disappoint, those people are so full of passion it's amazing!
Oh, they didn't play the songs you mentioned, or any one song from Walk the Sky, but it was an amazing concert nonetheless.

🤘🏻🎸🧡

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st February)

Yalloo

Hey gamers,

Curious to read what everybody has been playing. I'm working the whole weekend and attending the Alter Bridge concert this Sunday. In my free time, I will keep myself busy with:

Super Mario Galaxy: 80 Power stars so far. Getting all hyped up for the movie ...

Have A Nice Death: Keeping up with my daily runs to collect all the Curse cards.

Tetris Effect Connected: Will participate in the weekend event.

Happy gaming! ✌🏻🧡🎮

Re: Review: Have A Nice Death (Switch) - Delightfully Dark, Brutally Tough Roguelite Action

Yalloo

With over 150h played and counting, I can say that this game is tough as nails. It's also pretty unfair, and largely poorly balanced. Additionally the peformance is abysmal. I can't keep track of how many times the game crashed on me. Luckily there's a checkpoint on each floor, but still. Finally, it's full of bugs. Really feels like they stopped working on it halfway through. Likewise with the artstyle, some parts have colours, most others feel like they just abandoned everything in black and white.

I am having a lot of fun with it, but better know this before jumping in, then you're less disappointed I would imagine.

Re: The Rogue Prince Of Persia Spring Roadmap Reveals Two Upcoming Free Major Updates

Yalloo

I've pre-ordered the physical for this, coming in April. Happy there will be even more content and the game will be nicely polished.

Currently playing through Have A Nice Death, another roguelike, and as much as I'm having fun with it, it's far from polished and could use a complete rebalancing, feels like they dropped the game halfway through development.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th February)

Yalloo

@Divide_and_Wander I keep an Excel sheet with all the games I own, with a column "completed" yes/no. I also have folders on my main Switch "New / Unfinished business / 100%". To be fair, I consider this to be part of the fun of videogames, just like collecting physical editions.

To avoid writing a book about it ... I'd say that I consider having completed a game once I'm satisfied with what I've done with it. That normally depends on how much I've enjoyed the game. If I didn't so much, rolling the credits is enough. If I did, I'll likely play through all the achievements, unlockables, collectibles, maxing out the skill trees, getting gold medals, playing through higher difficulties, etc ... now it can be that I will stop at some point if it becomes too hard, or if I get bored with it. But past the credits, I'm basically setting my own expectations as to what I will do and keep going for it as long as I have fun doing it. If I want more, I'll set new goals.
That also doesn't stop me from going for another playthrough in the future, but I consider that I have already completed the game then.

I wonder about this sometimes, even more with reviews and how far through the game do reviewers go. Especially when I see the yearly playtime of reviewers that feels so little compared to my own XD

I'd say overall that it is something very personal. It's supposed to be fun and also challenging (at least for me).
Videogames are imo the most evolved form of art that exists, so there's also that to enjoy, the visuals, animations, music, .... how much time are you supposed to stare at a painting before you've "seen" it .. ?!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th February)

Yalloo

@Divide_and_Wander Thanks for sharing. And interesting question, I never really imagined that the definition of backlog could be different for everyone!

I've got 23 boxed games that I haven't started yet. Just removed the plastic, slotted the gamecard once in the console to get the icon and moved it to my "New" folder. 5 of these are S2.
I've got one digital game in the backlog.

I've got 5 pre-ordered games and 2 awaiting to be pre-ordered.

So none of these have been played yet at all.
Retro games and remasters I already played but not from these versions.

Then I've got all the games I've already played through but want to get back to, I cannot count these, I'd say around 10. And finally the games on NSO, from back in the days when I was a kid, I want to discover or play through again.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th February)

Yalloo

I've done everything I wanted to do in Cyberpunk 2077, now I'm curious about the other two endings in Arasaka and Panam.

My other goal is to do daily runs in Have A Nice Death, since there are some more Curse cards I'd like to unlock.

I'll also look for the time to play the Darwin's Paradox demo since there is a pre-order available for a physical edition including an artbook at LRG.

And I'll participate in the weekend ritual @ Tetris Effected Connected.

Happy gaming!! ✌🏻🧡🎮
