No idea what this game is, and never played any of the inspirations, but just because it's a proper physical on Switch 2, I'll check it out. Really appreciate the effort. Cover art looks great btw.
Wow, is this a trailer for a Nintendo game?! Looks amazing. Received my copy of the game, downloaded the update and it's ready to go ... somewhere next year according to the backlog schedule XD
@Warioware It saddens me to read how disappointed you have been in this game. I really hope that if you give it another try with different expectations you will enjoy it much more. It's not Bayonetta 2, or #1, it's its own game.
The demon slave mechanic allows for even longer combos, you can trigger witch time, place the right combo, and while Bayonetta is performing it, you can summon your demon and place a combo with your demon. While your demon is performing the attack, you get control of Bayonetta again to trigger witch time again, get another combo going, etc ... it's really addictive, even more than just the witch time/combo mechanics from #1/#2.
Mini-games have never been the series strong points (think of the missile or the motorbike), but they have the advantage of adding variety and avoiding the main gameplay loop to become repetitive. So here with the kaiju fights, Jeanne's sequences, .. it's not as good as the main game but it's a nice quick change of pace. And if you didn't like the mosquitos mini-game, at least you must have loved the music!
A bunch of things you've mentioned and I agree with, I've just overlooked them since the main gameplay was just so good and more advanced compared to the previous games. The environments don't look great, but it doesn't really matter since everything upclose including the combat is gorgeous. The enemies don't look as good as the angels did but they have their own visual identities and it's fine to have something different for each game. The new weapon system is a bit overwhelming, takes time to get used to it, and it works much better once you've unlocked new attacks and techniques through the skilltree. But you also don't have to use it, almost never throughout the whole game.
Finally the story was unexpected for me, and a big shock too. But Kamiya said everything would make sense with #4 (that was before he left PG) so I just accepted it as it was. And why not, I mean, multiverse and all, it's more over the top nonsense like the series has always been used to!
Hope you will be able to enjoy B3 sometimes if you give it another chance. And in all cases, you can always play B2 again and it will remain the masterpiece that it is.
Wow ... what went wrong? They have a popular fanchise that spawned multiple games, successful kickstarter campaigns ... where did all the money go? They are making a 2D pixelArt game ... I mean, it does look promising and when they make a physical I will buy it but ... I'd like to understand what went wrong there .. you can't possibly be that bad at managing a games studio?!
I wish I could be more positive about this, but making such statements is begging for questions in this situation. Wish them all the best. It' certainly not my copy that will save them from trouble anyways.
This is great news. There will never be enough themes in Tetris 99. Too many Kirby themes though ... ? ๐ My favourite theme of all is a Kirby one coincidentally, so definitely looking to this one too.
I was surprised how all 3 films were actually not that bad. Never been a fan of Sonic, but I found that Jim Carrey really makes everything come together, especially in #3. Curious what other ideas they'll bring to the table in a spin-off. Funny how Mario is coming with a Galaxy movie and coincidentally Sonic is doing its own Universe thingy. ๐
@jfp I'm really curious how Skate Story will turn out ... the trailer looked so good. Fingers crossed a proper physical comes along ... somewhere down the line.
@Warioware As much as I can understand many of the complaints on #3 (and which I disagree with), complaints about the gameplay itself are imo completely out of line. They've evolved that same old perfect gameplay to the next level. What's not to like? Maybe you should give that amazing game another try, it's really good. And otherwise I'm sure the Angel Slayer has more dozens of hours of plain good old gameplay for you to keep enjoying ...
Her performance was perfectly fine. I would much rather she returns than the other nutjob that tried to ruin my favourite videogames franchise because she thinks she alone is better than the hundreds artists who make these games. Happy for Hale that she can speak her truth openly and honestly. Bayonetta 4 ... when??? ๐๐ฎ
I had downloaded this app until I realized that I don't use any of its features. The play history on the Nintendo Store app on the other hand is something I find extremely useful! ๐
@Ganner So, I'm preaching to the choir ๐ธ๐ค๐ป You know what's good Brother! All I Was and A Dying Machine are two of the best records ever made, imho. And the book, as much as it was full of clichรฉs ... I loved the characters and it did make me cry at the end, so that was another job well done.
Never caught Slash and Myles live but their albums are also mind-blowingly amazing.
I saw Myles live once on his own and it was so good, he plays songs from all of his bands, you cannot miss it! โ๐ป๐งก๐ธ
@Ganner Thanks for the tip, will keep an eye out in case they're coming our way. Sounds awesome (even on youtube!) Next year we'll go see Alter Bridge for the xxx time that they're coming back to Amsterdam. You must have heard of them if you like metal! Rock on!
Love the art direction. Thanks for the review, that tells me a little bit more about the game, compared to the initial trailers. Will wait for the physical like I always do.
Sounds interesting. Love me a short puzzle game with new ideas like that. If they ever make a physical edition, I'll get it. For some reason I have to think of Cocoon ... man, that was an amazing experience!
Wow, cool selection, and perfect timing as I should be getting my NES controllers sometimes this week. Going to enjoy Ninja Gaiden II. Curious about Bionic too, never heard of that one before.
And I should try and clear Ghouls and Goblins while I'm at it ... if I dare!
I always find it unreasonable to present it like they didn't know about all those issues and bugs. They chose to release the game in this state knowingly. That ensures cash flow at an earlier stage. Weather that is needed to keep the studio afloat or just to satisfy investors and calendars is another story.
In all cases, kudos to the early players for putting up with it and being patient.
Thanks for the reminder that this book is now available. Just thinking of this story brings tears to my eyes. I will order it ASAP. Coincidentally my last order from My Nintendo is currently in the mail...
Never been a fan of RE, but seeing all these ugly controllers and box arts makes me sad for the fans.
And to voice my opinion ... special edition GKC ... are you kidding?! If I have to move to the next generation and only be able to play digital games, I will never buy a game full price/day one for sure. Luckily I have a huge backlog. Despite that I still buy all my physical games day one/full price. Even more than full price when I import them. Downside is I won't be able to collect physical games anymore, plus side is I will save a lot of money.
I absolutely disapprove this kind of tactics. Thought to maybe eventually get the game somewhere down the line, but this clarifies that I won't. Thanks!
Cyberpunk 2077: couple of hours into the game, the begining asked a lot of questions but I'm finally starting to feel at home. It looks stunning and made with a lot of passion.
Have A Nice Death: they haven't re-invented the roguelite genre but the game manages to make me come back for more and more and ... I'm still really enjoying the elevator music ๐ฌ
Tetris Effect Connected: participating in the weekend ritual, as usual ... hoping we'll unlock another event avatar this week.
Happy gaming everybody! โ๐ป๐งก๐ฎ Hope you have the loveliest weekend!
@AhabSpampurse Here in Europe TotK did get a special edition that cost double the price of the game and included a set of pins and a metal poster. Nothing to write home about.
Bayonetta 3 also got a beautiful one with an artbook and a special frame collecting all three game boxes. Still available on the Nintendo store sadly...
Yeah ... that's no news. Never liked the art direction of this app and the pot pourri nature of it just cuts my interest short. Glad many people seem to (still) enjoy it, and boy must all those advertisers be happy with it too.
@Lizuka I wish you all the fun of the world playing the amazing Bayonetta games. Reading more people getting into this franchise is a blessing. Story mode will take you between 10-20h each, but there is so much more to do, and if you enjoy the gameplay you can easily get 100's of hours with each game ... you won't have time to play Air Riders ๐ฌ
@D-Star92 Missed you in the Tetris Effect top 10 this week! I got used to checking your rank and couldn't find you all the way till 100 ๐ฌ Wish you all the best managing the depression that's haunting you. And I hope that all the lovely games you're playing can help.
@TYRANACLES Just sharing my thoughts. I also loved playing through Lost Crown. The DLC on the other hand, however cheap that was, was quite the let down. Completely different vibe from the main game and new mechanics that I didn't really enjoy. The memorials on the otherhand (free update) proved very challenging and added a lot of playtime to my save file.
Lol .. a game where the gameplay sucks and is pointless should never be a game, maybe a film or a book instead. And the port is so bad it's unplayable ... hum! Thank you so very much for this review. Very useful.
I have just found a saving spot in Ender Magnolia (which I am in love with) and now I hope to find the time to participate quickly in the weekly ritual @ Tetris Effect Connected.
It's my bday today and we've got all sorts of lovely plans for the weekend.
Hope you all have a great time too! Much love from Amsterdam! โ๐ป๐งก๐ฎ
And how about we make every film a comedy or a drama or a documentary based on what the majority wants? You're entitled to dislike the choices and the difficulty but don't forget that there are thousands of other games out there ... why not go and give these other games a try instead of complain how this one isn't for you ..? If you like the artstyle go watch a video walkthrough, if you like the music listen to the soundtrack and if you dislike the gameplay then play something else. Aren't these enough options for you already?
Patapon: I had been told there was a lot of grinding in this game and that is very very true. Making slow progress, always going back to previous missions. It's fun in between other games.
Ender Magnolia: art style is stunning, the colours are gorgeous and the music absolutely lovely. The difficulty is slowly picking up, which is perfect. Story is very clichรฉ but I really like the vibe and the little character side stories, it's very manga-like. Plenty of improvements coming from the previous game, which I enjoyed very much already.
ARMS: was curious to see the updates on Switch 2 ... haven't seen any differences ๐คญ still a super fun game. I'm trying to play ranked matches but there doesn't seem to be anybody online. Doing Grand Prix while searching for an opponent ... maybe during the weekend.
Tetris Effect Connected: I will participate in the Focus ritual and hope to unlock a new event avatar. The community reached the goal last weekend, I'm sure this one too.
Kirby Air Riders Global Test Ride: going to give this one a try. Not very interested if I have to be honest, but I really enjoyed some of the tracks they've added to Nintendo Music.
Seeing the price of these DLCs, I find that quite the slap in the face for the early adopters of the first physical edition.
I will sell mine and maybe somewhere down the line get an eventual "definitive" physical edition. Pretty disappointed, and makes me lose interest in the whole thing. In the end it's just a documentary and some really old most uninteresting games we've already played.
But I should add: "happy for everybody looking forward to these additions".
Wow. That's more details on the play activity than I've ever seen! There's still room for improvements, but this is already amazing! Been hoping for something like this for years.
@Morsel Thx! So far I'm really liking it, it's so cute and engaging, I can't stop smiling and shaking my head along ๐ฌ What else is in your top 10? Which other rythm games have you enjoyed on Switch? Looking forward to Patapon 2 after I'm done with this one, and I also have Cyberpunk 2077 sitting in my backlog.
Fast Fusion: I've got 4 time trials left to beat in Hypersonic. I've realized that I cannot optimize my driving any further, and I'm still 5+ seconds behind so I must miss a shortcut or a jump or something. I've decided to look up some youtube tutorials this weekend and get it over with. Seeing these cars crash and fall off track is starting to really piss me off.
Ender Magnolia: just started my new main game yesterday, and just like the previous one the music is already very much inspired. Also looks really good.
Tetris Effect Connected: participating in the Adventurous ritual, hoping we get to reach the goal this weekend, unlike the last one ...
Patapon: I want to start this one later today, really curious about the concept, and love me a good rythm game ... already have the music stuck in my head after watching trailers.
I loved the previous two games and can't get enough despite 800+h on DE and 300h on AoC. Pre-ordered and absolutely looking forward to it. It will sit in my backlog for a little while but I'm sure early 2026 I will be digging in! I loved the art direction and can't wait for the new music to go along with it. Bring it on!
I am working this weekend, but I will go ahead with my current games when I have the time:
Fast Fusion: trying to beat the developer's times in time trials.
Tails of Iron: I need to get the gas mask before I can continue with the main story and stop the frogs invasion.
Tetris Effect Connected: the weekend events over the next 10 weeks normallly unlock avatars that I am still missing. I will be participating and scoring as many points as I can.
I like how sharp the game looks, and they're showcasing different ways to play it. Mouse mode is certainly super cool with the demo I played of MP4. Don't know about a longer session, but absolutely looking forward to this.
It's interesting to have all sorts of analysts sharing all sorts of reporting and whatnot ... now just the physical charts don't make much sense to look at, but here we've got some games just physical and some others both physical and digital ... makes no sense whatsoever. So SMG1+2 would still be at the top, but just look at the period ... it's September. Oh yeah, until 4th October ...
After reaching 100% in Championship mode, I'm working my way through the time trials and beating the developer's times @ Fast Fusion.
I'm trying to beat level 424 @ Krimson, which is diabolical. Hopefully I'm not too far from the end of the game.
I don't know how far I am in Tails of Iron, but I keep making progress. It's a bit too much RPG for my taste but I'm enjoying it enough that I still want to play it. I'm just out of the crypts after returning there to beat a zombie rat king, and looking for side quests to be able to gather 30 coins to continue with the main story.
I will participate in the Relax weekend ritual at Tetris Effect Connected, as usual.

Looking forward to Patapon 2 after I'm done with this one, and I also have Cyberpunk 2077 sitting in my backlog.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st November)
My gaming plans for the weekend are:
Happy gaming! โ๐ป๐งก๐ฎ
Re: Simogo Celebrates 15th Anniversary In Style With Switch 2 Ports, A Compilation, And A Gorgeous Book
Waiting on the physical edition for Lorelei .. hope that now is the time ๐๐ป
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment?
I loved the previous two games and can't get enough despite 800+h on DE and 300h on AoC.
Pre-ordered and absolutely looking forward to it. It will sit in my backlog for a little while but I'm sure early 2026 I will be digging in!
I loved the art direction and can't wait for the new music to go along with it.
Bring it on!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th October)
I am working this weekend, but I will go ahead with my current games when I have the time:

Re: Two Unlisted Metroid Prime 4 Commercials Reveal New Boss Fight
I like how sharp the game looks, and they're showcasing different ways to play it. Mouse mode is certainly super cool with the demo I played of MP4. Don't know about a longer session, but absolutely looking forward to this.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Topped The Best-Selling Switch Games... In September?
It's interesting to have all sorts of analysts sharing all sorts of reporting and whatnot ... now just the physical charts don't make much sense to look at, but here we've got some games just physical and some others both physical and digital ... makes no sense whatsoever. So SMG1+2 would still be at the top, but just look at the period ... it's September. Oh yeah, until 4th October ...

Re: New Dragon Ball Game Project To Be Revealed Early Next Year
I'm so glad I'm not a Dragon Ball fan, man the poor fans being milked non-stop ๐ซฃ
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th October)
Happy gaming! โ๐ป๐งก๐ฎ
