I think I'd stop short of calling everyone who shows up for these things scalpers. While I have zero doubt that some are, I'm just not that cynical to think even most of them are.
This is exactly why I was waiting for that "promise" to be fulfilled before purchasing KotoR 2. And why I said MK1 isn't worth purchasing based on a "promise" to bring it up to par (feature-wise) with the other versions.
I have both GC games (one still in shrink!), but both were victims of a multi-generational (platform) backlog that I still haven't managed to get under control.
I do love seeing these re-releases / re-masters / re-mixes / re-whatevers.
I remember spending a ton of time with this on the PS1, mainly for the crafting system as I recall (man, that was a looong time ago!). I didn't bother finishing the Switch demo because I'll be playing the full version soon enough, but I was quite impressed with it!
As for the Jrpg talk that has been going around, my opinion of it has always been that Jrpgs put you into the shoes of a chosen protaganist (or group of them) to experience /their/ stories. Western rpg were about creating a character and making your own story within the confines of an established world. Never once was it about combat or anything other than how the story was presented. [My .02]
When the devs acknowledge that the game is not feature-komplete (I couldn't resist either) at launch, but they'll patch in what's missing later, it's a hard pass for me. Once they've finished the modes that the other systems have at launch, then I'll consider it. I'd hate to pay full price only for them to say later "sorry, we tried but couldn't make it work".
Overall, I thought it was ok. Not as much caught my eye as I had hoped, but what did was great. DK and Mario, Paper Mario, Peach's now-titled game, Unicorn Overlord, New Saga game. Some good stuff!
As soon as I saw the first screen, I though "Holy crap! More Ogre Battle!!!!". This looks absolutely fantastic, and was definitely the highlight for me today.
I'm a fan of the Zen pinball tables, but it's the old Williams tables that really get me going. The FX table offerings were pretty sparse at launch, but I'm glad to see them working to remedy that so quickly.
Putting my GBA carts in my DS was a Godsend, even though I had a perfectly capable GBA. I also have the GBA player for my GC, but I can't say I used it much. Nor did I often play GC games on my Wii, but my kids did often enough.
It's a handy feature, being able to play older games on the newer hardware.
Nintendo /might/ be more creative than that (but Wii U and 3ds suggest otherwise), but Switch 2 would be perfectly fine. Sequential numbering has worked fine for Sony for...always.
@Carlore_Preventis As I have access to your original comment regarding my take: yes, I'm absolutely captivated by other "ccommunities" as well. Sneaker-heads, for example. I don't get them, but I'm intrigued by people who collect sneakers.
As for the entitlement comment: there are absolutely people in the preservation community who believe they are entitled to play every game ever made without actually buying the hardware and software to do so just because said hardware and software are "obsolete " or "expensive".
None of these titles, or any others are going extinct. To be honest, I think the entire "video game preservation society" is based on a farce; thus, they intrigue me.
The subset of gamers who seemed to be enthralled by games they /think/ they may never be able to play captivates me. Especially the ones who feel entitled to them.
My personal opinion is nothing on this list will be missed. I did sink a ton of time into several of these as a kid though.

Hopefully some of that support is in the form of Wind Waker.
Re: Epic Games Is Reportedly Laying Off About 900 Employees
That 540M% could have kept these people on. Shady business dealings hurt the little guys again.

Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Zelda: Wind Waker HD's Bloom Lighting Or The "Flat" OG?
@epicgamner
Right?!? I see this pop up and I'm frantically searching for news of the new port.
I guess I needed that adrenalin rush this afternoon.
Re: Pop Blisters And Rip Out Ingrown Toenails With 'Foot Clinic', Launching This Week
Perfect example of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".

Wait, Mario is a vampire?!
Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Will "Absolutely Be Getting An Update" On Switch, Says Ed Boon
I would rather a system-delay than a "Hey, here it is for 70$, we'll patch it up to full-function later. Trust us.".

Axed? More like chainsawed. Amirite?!?
Re: Bluey Makes Her Video Game Debut On Switch This November
My grandkids love Bluey. I love Bluey. I can't imagine a Bluey game being anything close to enjoyable.

Re: Unity Apologies For Its 'Runtime Fee' Policy, Promises To Make 'Changes'
I'm seeing Hasbro's DnD cluster-F all over again.
Re: Star Ocean The Second Story R Scores Free Demo On Switch Today
It's glorious! I played it on my PS1 and have considered the PSP release, but this is beautiful! So ready for the full game!
Re: Round Up: Developers React To Unity's New 'Runtime Fee' Policy
"People are licensing our engine and making tons of money, what do we do?"
"Charge them for every install of their games?"
"Brilliant! But what if they stop using our engine for future products?"
"Simple, make the cost per install retroactive."
"!!!!!!! Give this man a million dollar bonus. We're gonna be rich!"
(Probably)
It's decisions like this that chip away at my faith in humanity.

3 million and 1...if they'd release another round of physical copies. Just sayin'.

Re: G.I. Joe Gets The Streets Of Rage Treatment In Brand New Arcade-Style Brawler
GI Joe?
Beat 'em up?!
Sign me up!
But hopefully that song doesn't play the whole game. 🤢
I'll take my 80's Joe, but leave the crappy 80's music back there.

Re: Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition Announced For Switch
I poured hundreds of hours into Borderlands 2, but have yet to give 3 a spin. If this runs well, I'll definitely pick it up.
Re: Konami's Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Has Been Delayed
That's fine. Take your time and don't screw this one up. It deserves all the attention you can give it.
Re: Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster Confirmed For Nintendo Switch
A physical Dark Forces / DF2 Jedi Knight 2-pack would go nicely alongside my Outcast/Academy box.
Just sayin
Re: Soapbox: Red Dead Redemption Ignited My Enduring Love Of The Old West
Wait, wait, wait...no mention of Blazing Saddles?!?
Also, 3:10 to Yuma. Check out a modern classic.
Re: Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster Confirmed For Nintendo Switch
YES! Every time I contemplate beginning Jedi Academy, I think "Man, I wish I could play Dark Forces again.".
Re: Talking Point: The Games We Got Rid Of - What Were We Thinking?
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. The only game I ever got rid of, and to this day I still don't understand why I did it.

Donkey Konga.

This is from the forthcoming Michael Bay directed movie adaptation. Probably.

It can if it's marked "soapbox"!
I enjoy random, self-depreciating articles that refuse to take themselves seriously.

Just saw that Pinball FX is finally launching next week as well. Looks like it isn't quite "finished", but it will be available.
Re: Batman Arkham Trilogy For Switch Only Includes One Title On The Game Cartridge
I'm actually more surprised that there will be a physical release than that there will only be one game on the cart.

Not a single thing I had been hoping for, yet there were some great reveals. I liked it. 👍
