My overall thought was that this Direct showed that we certainly are at the end of the Switch life cycle.
Sure, there were a few good things for just about anybody to be excited about, but nothing truly mindblowing. Remakes, re-issues, and recycles, but not the ones I'd hoped for. Although, that Capcom collection really got my attention!
The more I watch the Zelda reveal, the less I think it'll be anything more than "this is the right way to advance here" gameplay. It might seem open, but I think it may be an illusion.
@HotGoomba My backlog dates back to the last millennium, so at this point I think I might be more "collector" than "gamer". No harm adding another to the shelf, right?
Yes, absolutely! If they make the reveal before the holiday, they risk potential sales of the "soon-to-be-outdated" hardware, as well as "old" software.
Edit: I personally expect a Feb reveal for a July release.
Basically, it seems to me anyway, Embracer was made up of a bunch of investment bankers who were buying up IPs to create a portfolio that they hoped was worth more than the sum of its parts with the intention of selling said portfolio for mega-profits.
Gamble didn't pay off and now they're scrambling to make anything they can from a fire sale.
I continue to hope (especially now, with the success of Unicorn Overlord) that we'll get remakes of March of the Black Queen, Person of Lordly Caliber and maybe even Prince of Zenobia.
I really like the cleanness of the NA box, and I love the SNES layout as a whole, but the Japanese one just does more justice to the actual game. It does border on being too busy, as was the case for most Japanese cover art.
I'm with @Ryu_Niiyama just having access is enough...mostly. Although, a graphical upgrade is always nice.
I have a library of games going back to the SNES, and sometimes trying to play those older games hurts the eyes. My best, most recent example is Diablo 2. I played a ton of it back in the day, but for the last many years, I couldn't bring myself to suffer the dated graphics. The remaster made it "new" again.
Sentimentaly, SMB2. It was the first game I ever "beat". I took a picture of the ending sleep screen so I could send it in to Nintendo Power back in the day.
For me, the NA version is too cluttered, but the Japanese version is too sparse. The Korean version strikes a decent balance between the two by way of a little extra background color.

Re: Yes, The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Is Getting A Physical Release
Day one purchase. Probably even pre-order if I get a chance.

Metroid 4 isn't a bad swan-song, I suppose.

Give us an amiibo!
Re: Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics Will Get Super On Switch This Year
Highlight of the Direct for me. I've been waiting and hoping for this release since the home cabinet was released a while back.
Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Finally Gets Release Date, I & II Remakes Confirmed
I was midly excited about the III remake, but adding in I and II seals it for me.

I'm all over this!
Re: Dead Cells Designer Reveals Beat 'Em Up 'Tenjutsu', And We Really Hope It Comes To Switch
I love a good beat 'em up, but I don't love those pixels. Still, looks fun.
Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Upcoming June Nintendo Direct
Still hoping for Ogre Battle remakes.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Dragon Quest III (NES)
It's hard to vote against Goku, but just look at that pile of loot on the NA cover!
Re: LEGO Unveils 'Great Deku Tree 2-In-1' Zelda Set, Pre-Orders Now Available
@Ryu_Niiyama
I have a wall of shelves in the basement. My wife keeps her "fancy" sets (cactus, flowers, birds,) on top of the piano.
Re: LEGO Unveils 'Great Deku Tree 2-In-1' Zelda Set, Pre-Orders Now Available
As a Lego fanatic, I'm highly excited for this. Not necessarily what I expected from a Zelda Lego set, but I think I'm gonna have to get it.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door For Switch?
@HotGoomba
My backlog dates back to the last millennium, so at this point I think I might be more "collector" than "gamer". No harm adding another to the shelf, right?

@MrGawain
I "learned" many things in college that employers would not be impressed by.

How...quaint.
No.
Re: Talking Point: Will Nintendo Wring One More Holiday From Switch Before Revealing New Hardware?
Yes, absolutely! If they make the reveal before the holiday, they risk potential sales of the "soon-to-be-outdated" hardware, as well as "old" software.

Re: Rumour: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom First Anniversary Surprise Planned
I'd rather a Switch release of Wind Waker...
Re: Animal Crossing Meets Lord Of The Rings In 'Tales Of The Shire'
Looking forward to this one.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Indie World Showcase Predictions - What Do You Expect To See?
I continue to hope (especially now, with the success of Unicorn Overlord) that we'll get remakes of March of the Black Queen, Person of Lordly Caliber and maybe even Prince of Zenobia.

Thanks for including that link to "cozy" games. Now I know.
Re: Review: Botany Manor (Switch) - Cosy Yet Challenging, This Puzzler Is Quite Beautiful
Is "cozy" a new industry buzzword? I'm seeing it alot lately.
Re: Soapbox: The Games Industry Needs To Give Up On Exclamation Marks!
I may not say "Showtime!" out loud, but I certainly do in my head.
Keep the proper punctuation.
Re: New Unicorn Overlord Survey Gauges Interest In Sequel
Very definitely.
Re: Vanillaware's Unicorn Overlord Has Now Sold Over 500k Units Worldwide
Well deserved praise for this one. Hopefully it's success shows that there is room for March of the Black Queen and Person of Lordly Caliber remakes.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (SNES)
I really like the cleanness of the NA box, and I love the SNES layout as a whole, but the Japanese one just does more justice to the actual game. It does border on being too busy, as was the case for most Japanese cover art.
Re: Poll: What's The Best Final Fantasy Game? Rate Your Favourite Mainline & Spin-Offs
I didn't realize how many versions of these older games I hadn't tried.
Re: Review: Kingdom Come Deliverance: Royal Edition (Switch) - Freeform Medieval RPG Is Brilliant But Flawed
That...that sounds like a chore to play. Complexity is nice, but this? I don't think so.

I'm with @Ryu_Niiyama just having access is enough...mostly. Although, a graphical upgrade is always nice.

Wow, that's flashy! Did they contract King for those visual effects?

Re: Monster Hunter Stories Soars Onto Switch This June
Went to the website, looks like the "both" physical pack will be available for both PS4 and Switch.
Re: Monster Hunter Stories Soars Onto Switch This June
A "special set" for the PS4 release? The article isn't clear.
Re: Poll: Do You Want To See 'Super Mario Bros. Wonder 2'?
While I am enjoying Wonder, as I close in on the end, I don't think I'm going to have one of those "I need more of this!" feelings.
It's a heck of a lot of fun, but if there was never another one, I wouldn't feel like I missed out on anything.
Re: Wahoo! LEGO Super Mario Is Getting Brand New Sets This August
I'm kinda excited for the train. New lego trains don't come along very often (even if there are eleventy different versions of the Hogwarts express).
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time
For me, the NA version is too cluttered, but the Japanese version is too sparse. The Korean version strikes a decent balance between the two by way of a little extra background color.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 9th)
Trying to finish up SM Wonder so I can begin Unicorn Overlord.
Re: LEGO Fortnite Is Under Fire For Brand New 'Kits'
The internet is always shocked when the things they forsee happening...actually happen.
Re: Princess Peach: Showtime! Demo Now Available On The Switch eShop
I really enjoyed the demo. It's obviously targeted towards my elementary-aged granddaughters, but I think I could get lost in it.

@YoshiTails Yes, yes it really is.
Re: Review: Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster (Switch) - Another Must-Play From Nightdive
@Krambo42 Indeed!
I'm gonna pick this up off the shop, and I'm gonna pray for a physical release so I can double (triple? I have the OG cd still) dip.
MAYBE, just maybe, DF2 is coming, and they'll release a double cart to match my JO/JA physical!
Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster
I am sooo ready for this!
