Haven't played it, but I applaud them for sticking to the vision and not (continuing) chasing trends during development. Could have ended up like Star Citizen.
At almost the same tender age (a mere 2 years prior to the beginning of your story), I asked my parents for either an NES or a Genesis for Christmas. Didn't matter which, just one or the other would be great!
I got an Atari 7800...
I hate to be /that/ kid, but it didn't see nearly as much play as your gift. But I still have it, perhaps your story will inspire a new tradition for me?
@Yosher Unfortunately, no, they dont think about anything but making a buck. Just like most people running around this world right now, "As long as I get mine, who cares?" seems to be the world mantra right now.
I think it'll be interesting to see how this one shakes out over the coming weeks. Sounds like they made some pretty drastic formula changes, which I can appreciate. But devs on series such as these are often in a no-win situation: more of the same = bad, stray too far away from more of the same = bad.
Hopefully the game gets a fair, "reviewed in a vacuum" shake.
I completely geek-out every time one of these videos drops. The cosmic side of Marvel was fantastic during the Annihilation sagas and then the 90's cartoon aesthetic is brilliant!
My backlog dates back to the PS1 (everything before that is played) and covers, PS1, PS2, PS3, GBA, DS, 3DS, GameCube, PSP, and Switch. That's just games I own and haven't played.
One of my all-time favorites. The first game I ever took the time to play through more than once (too many good games to bother with that nonsense). Sakimoto once again delivered a fantastic score. And the in-game art is sublime, I love those nose-less little peeps.
My copy just arrived. The poster of the job classes that came with it caused waves of nostalgia to wash over me. The art, the music, the gameplay...all of it 10/10.
Speaking of that one "con" regarding the soundtrack: I'm considering buying the vinyl release because it comes with a digital download for the entire soundtrack, including 31(!) tracks not on the (excellent) OST.
I think FFT may be my favorite game of all time. It started me down a rabbit hole of playing every srpg that came along. It also set me onto Sakimoto's music which are also some of my favorite compositions.

Probably not.

Legend.
That is all.
Re: Talking Point: Does It Bother You That Big Games Companies Are Using GenAI?
AI in the entertainment industry is the robotics in the factories 40 years ago.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Ice Climber
(I want to make a seal-clubbing joke here, but its too early and I'm not funny enough to pull it off off)
NA pixel art for me.
Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Expansion Coming 2026, Hollow Knight: Switch 2 Edition Also Announced
I think the only question on everyone's mind is "how difficult will it be?".
😋
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Mega Man 6
Goofy face aside, I prefer the composition of the NA box to the cluttered-ness of the JP one.
Re: Star Wars: Fate Of The Old Republic Announced, But Will It Skip Switch 2?
Absolutely floored when this hit my news feed last night. Definitely keeping an eye on this.
Re: Netflix "Didn't Attribute Any Value" To Warner Bros. Games In Acquisition Deal
Looks like they value WB games division as highly as I do.
Re: Surprise! 'Skyrim Anniversary Edition' Lands On Switch 2 Today
I cant help but chuckle to myself every time this game gets "another" release.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Metroid Prime Pinball
As a pinball aficionado, I like being able to see more of the table on the Japanese version.
Re: Netflix Enters Agreement To Buy Warner Bros. For $82 Billion, Includes Game Studios
I'm staggered that anyone values WB that highly! I get that they've got some useful IPs under their umbrella, but that is waaay too high.
Re: 'Starsand Island' Is Getting A Switch 2 Version With Quality And Performance Modes
Starsand Island? Where have I heard a cozy-sim name similar to that before....?

Re: Feature: "Oh S**t, That's A Great Idea! Why Didn't We Think Of That Before?" - Marvel Cosmic Invasion Devs On Drafting The Ultimate Team
Yep, still geeking out! Great interview! Somebody needs to do a remake/remaster of Maximum Carnage.

Another Silksong article, more of the same back-and-forth difficulty arguments.

Re: Review: iMP Gaming Mini Arcade Pro - Turns Your Switch (Or Switch 2) Into A Bartop Cabinet
Even at 90$ US its pretty tempting. If it had a vertical mode as well, I think I'd be all over it.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Dragon Power (NES)
Not really a fair fight, is it?
Re: Nintendo Wins Lawsuit Against 'Pirate' Streamer Who Taunted Company Online

Re: Review: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection (Switch 2) - A Killer Kompilation, But Online Is A Mess At Launch
I will be buying it. Didn't pre-order like I planned, but I'll get it soon enough. I think it'll be well worth it.
Re: Review: Luigi's Mansion (GameCube) - A Spooky Little Romp That Still Sucks You In
@dartmonkey It'll be hilarious if somebody comes back because they got a "X commented on your post" email after 15 years.
Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Soundtrack Is Scoring A Gorgeous Vinyl Release Next Year
Just remember kids, digitally created music doesn't automatically sound better just because its pressed onto analog vinyl.
This does look like a nice set though...
Re: Microsoft On Its Gaming Business Going Forward: "We Want To Be Everywhere"
Because Microsoft isn't really competition. They've tried buying their way into competitiveness, but that ain't working either.
Re: Review: Once Upon A Katamari (Switch) – A Roll-'Em-Up Revival Done Right
I've always been intrigued by Katamari, but never gave it a try.
Still intrigued though.
Re: "Go Tell Nintendo" - Ex-Blizzard President Responds After Xbox Calls Exclusives "Antiquated"
My exact first thought when I first saw the "antiquated" quaote was: "I don't think Nintendo would agree.".
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
I like them both, but that Samus portrait on the JP cover has some ominous vibes to it. Went with it.
Re: It's Official, Assassin's Creed Shadows Comes To Switch 2 In December With Cross-Progression
Nice! I'm actually hoping for the (can't remember its name) Baghdad AC.
Edit: AC Mirage. (Should have looked it up before posting)

Sweet! I think I need both!
Re: Gallery: Here's A Closer Look At The London Pop-Up Nintendo Store's Sweet Merch
What is that DK barrel? A plush? A pillow? A bag?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Hey You, Pikachu!
Both are terribly boring.

I'm a buyer, apparently.

Humans suck.

I dont wear sneakers, but if I did...I probably still wouldn't wear these. Even though they do look kinda cool.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem Shadows (Mobile) - Flat F2P Folly With Simplistic Strategy & Social Deduction
Lol, I didn't even make it to the pro/con list the first time. "Audio is fine" is a helluva "pro"! 🤣😂
Re: Review: Fire Emblem Shadows (Mobile) - Flat F2P Folly With Simplistic Strategy & Social Deduction
The name "Fire Emblem" will forever get my attention. Thanks for saving me a download.

Re: Feature: Get A Job - 30 Years On, Seiken Densetsu 3's Class System Is Still One Of The Best

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Director Highlights The Speed Problem With Switch 2 Game Cards
I'm old enough to remember some PC games requiring partial asset movement from the physical media to the hard drive to run properly.
It worked then...
Re: Reminder: You Have Just One More Week To Play Star Wars: Hunters
I'm going with "do not".
