I think it's either invisible pikmin, which makes the most sense, or the baby is a very young Lucas; the blonde hair, the quiff in the making, perhaps Mother 3 is real after all!
This is a niche to say the least, and I feel like Nintendo are only doing it because a Mario game is on the system, and not for some nostalgia for one of their worst performing consoles.
One of my university professors was the lead programmer on this game, said it was a rush job in every aspect, and uses it in his classes to demonstrate why his assignments have almost no strict deadlines. You should have seen the look on his face when we found an original N64 copy in a second hand shop, nearly fell off his chair!
I already 100% the game on the OG Switch, then in a baffling move I sold the physical game... but, seeing as there's a ton of new content, I'll be picking up the Switch 2 version and doing it all over again!
I get where he's coming from, to ensure the highest possible quality, and I know the feeling of working on something for release, you can't treat it is art, or you'll never finish the damn thing. Viewing a novel/game/album/film/etc... as a product helps to define where development stops, and how good it has to be before it's handed in. So yeah, very good thing, no ego, no narcissism, just quality work.
Reminder that this anniversary collection still doesn't feature the N64 version, superior from the menu layout to the soundtrack. Praying it comes to NSO at some point.
Looking for things to complain about, when the vast majority are having a blast with the new system, or only play in docked so never experience this issue.
@Sunsy My guess is the kart will gain some kind of bubble to race inside, because the alternative is ignoring Sonic lore, or having you race into bubbles to refresh a breath meter, which sounds miserable!
As soon as the direct ended I went and I pre-ordered, looks to me like everything I grew up loving about 3D platformers, and it gives me hope that one day the great Banjo-Kazooie could be given a similar revival and insanely colourful adventure!
All I need answering is this: I'm using one of the retro controllers, N64 for example, and I'm miles away from the console dock; can I still plug my headphones into the pro controller to get audio, or will it shut off completely when I'm using a retro controller?
Wish it was full wraparound, but I dig what they're doing, just not the different heights of the panels due to the enormous red banner on the front. Nintendo have always exercised great nuance with product design, less is more, this feels like more is much, much less.
Gaming habits changed a long time ago, when games got longer, stories became possible, quest lines and graphics started to get cinematic. Gunstar Heroes is what I grew up on, an hour is all you need to beat it, but it was damn good. Now I'm playing TotK, I've logged about 300 hours into it so far, not even half way done I don't think. When games are longer, you spend less overall because you wait to finish them, something we seldom had chance to do back in the day.
Yes I will, if I find a game I want to play, because after I finish the game I can trade game-keys with friends and play something else. We all buy one game instead of three or four, trade, play, have a great time discussing tactics, etc... I see more upside than downside.
@Gabe250 That's a very big game, holy moly! Interested to hear more about all the different kinds of releases from Nintendo, we need a bigger deep dive into the hardware for sure.
@MangoMahn I'm sure there are, but the fact is all the Pikmin games are on Switch already, and SC2 was a special game for a lot of Gamecube era Nintendo fans. If the Mario 3D collection was still purchaseable, Mario Sunshine wouldn't get added to NSO either.
I'd actually been invited by both My Nintendo and Amazon for the pre-order, cancelled my amazon one as soon as this appeared in my inbox because they informed me that it's likely demand would be too high and pre-orders might be subject to cancellation. Managed to get in after a 10 second wait which surprised me, pre-ordered the standalone console, the pro controller and Gamecube controller, and I can't wait to christen it with a good ol' Ocarina of Time playthrough!
@BaldB3lper78 I didn't know about this change, but I pre-ordered mine on my lunch break today at 16:07pm, and I have order confirmation, estimated arrival date and email and no money has come out of my account. I must have gotten through just as the change was being rolled out! Don't despair though, there are plenty of other ways to pre-order, and I know a LOT of people are using Smyths and Argos, if they're still live.
@BaldB3lper78 Payment when dispatched friend, you don't pay anything now because they can't promise they'll have a console to send out. Amazon do this with all pre-orders to take the risk out of purchasing something so sought after.
@snichelsticks True... I'm sure the reason will come out later on, but I'm still happy to have some kind of cartridge I can sell, share with friends, etc...
@Makyurax @CriticalHit It's available right now on the My Nintendo Store, where I buy all my controllers. I usually aim for third or fourth wave anyway, that way I don't have to checkout like a madman in the hopes of snagging one.
Thank goodness, I just finished my OG Switch controller collection with the SNES pad, would genuinely suck to have to buy Switch 2 versions of them all again!
Fine with me, I plan on purchasing one game and 100% it before I move on, and from what I understand, Elden Ring takes foooorrrrrreeeever to finish, so I can save my pennies for the next big game I want to check out, which by that point should be new Zelda or hopefully Odyssey 2.
Nothing surprising, but importantly nothing about anything I was hoping for, like NSO, though I appreciate the digital games cards as a concept, definitely have plenty of games I could lend to friends for a fortnight. Still surprised Wind Waker and Twilight Princess have gone ignored this entire time, they would be no brainers releases for me.
I think F-Zero did what this game should do, give you a special power/item but make you go out of your way to recharge it, taking a non-optimal path and potentially losing time. It should do that with item boxes, put them in really awkward places on the course that makes going for them slow but rewarding, and the alternative is a tight line or shortcut that drastically cuts down your lap time. Mario Kart never gives you the option, and items feel way too frequent, this game has the opportunity to do something to fix this issue.
Return of the King on GBA was one of my favourite games growing up, the bizarre level of depth in the weapons and character loadout, the skill trees, the whetstones you could upgrade, it didn't need to be THAT good! My current Frodo run has a frozen spoon for a weapon and I tell you, it's more powerful than anything I've picked up for any other character... it one shots ring wraiths!
Modders and fan fiction writers are all the same, brilliant creators in-waiting who just need that push to do something original and exciting. Bravo I say, and from the comments, controls and plays like a dream too, can't wait!
Taking a beloved classic and doing it in HD-2D is both a love letter to older fans, and a gateway for newer fans to enjoy those stories. Kinda want a Link to the Past done this way, though I suspect the original is already perfect, and the visuals wouldn't add a whole lot.
@awp69 Because they weren't happy with the original, and they know it has potential, so they want to fix it before they commit to a third game in the franchise. Imagine releasing something like Banjo-Kazooie, then getting the spiritual successor so wrong that die hard fans denounce the studio; not only was this happening, but I can imagine it was disheartening for all the hard work they'd poured into that game.
And this isn't the typical remaster, this is a studio admitting they could have done better and wanting to prove it, something almost unheard of an industry that wants to move onto the next project so fast it leaves little room for criticism, and certainly zero room for any sort of redo. I'm glad this studio is doing well enough to be able to do this kind of thing, makes me very excited for the future!
Themed colour schemes are cool, but I want themed docks, little panoramas for your gaming setup that show off your favourite Nintendo franchise. Imagine world 1-1 in glorious pixel art, or some kind of sculpted panorama of the shrine of resurrection, or perhaps a save room portal from Metroid Prime, the possibilities are endless, and I'd happily pay a little more for something that made the room sing.

Re: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Gets A New Movie Poster
If Odyssey 2 and Galaxy 3 are just smashed into one gigantic game, colour me surprised but bloody delighted!
Re: Metroid Prime 1-3 Art Book Somehow Teases And Debunks An Echoes Remake
I would love a full remake of the entire first trilogy, but I'll settle for an update to the first game so it looks as good as possible on Switch 2.
Re: Review: Yooka-Replaylee (Switch 2) - Feels Like The Game It Was Meant To Be, Finally
30FPS is fine by me, my favourite game of all time frequently dips below 20FPS and I've never jumped from 30 to 60FPS and had a better time. Ever.

Hundreds of hours of entertainment... yeah that price is fine with me.

They both kinda suck.

Been meaning to play this, and I prefer physical media in general, so pre-ordered we are, and the new illustration cover is delightful!
Re: Miyamoto Views Games As 'Products', Not 'Works Of Art', Says Ex-Nintendo Dev
And to add as a rider, games are of course art, but seeing that when you're making something to the level Nintendo do must be almost impossible.

Likely a mistake, we've seen loads of those with the upcoming games, give it a week and see if it isn't changed or removed altogether.
