@Satans_Therapist
That’s because Splatoon is the origin of what’s called flick stick gyro aim, the right stick becomes focused on fast horizontal camera movement without vertical or diagonal movement, gyro allows for easy and fast vertical aiming in its full 180° range with just a minimal amount of wrist tilting but for horizontal that range becomes 360° which makes turning with gyro too awkward as you need a lot more wrist tilting that’s why the right stick is used for it and why vertical stick is disabled.
He always seemed like the type that worshipped film and it’s industry so it’s surprising to see him so out of touch here especially with how oblivious he is about the way sequels are reviewed, the first sequel almost never gets the shield of novelty from a critic the way a first film would.
@AussieMcBucket DLSS can’t do much for CPU limited games and I doubt Rockstar cares about optimizing especially for anything on the CPU side, they’ll shrug to the reaction to it inevitably launching as a stuttery input lag filled mess on XB/PS5.
@SpaceboyScreams For the streaming/physical release it should inexplicably be released as 24fps in a 60fps container so we can have the proper From bad frame pacing experience.
@mattmanforever The dock’s fan is to protect it’s board by removing heat transferred to it from the console along with the own heat it generates, there’s nothing about the cutouts on it and the console that would be effective at having it provide extra cooling.
@BentIeyma If it used DLSS5 he’d call it the crowing achievement of gaming. Dude has made DF so much worse since they hired him and he’s seems to be the one doing the majority of their videos these days… @Astropez Surface level is exactly how I’d describe it, John is the only one at DF who goes beyond that to actually talk about playing and enjoying games.
@OorWullie You underestimate the hole they’ve dug themselves into especially after they blew billions and billions on publisher acquisitions, powerhouse hardware with exclusives won’t get them out of that. @17h3s Your analogy makes me question if you have any idea what you’re taking about, if you did you would have made it about real hardware vs emulators. You care about buying games so at least I have to give it to you for that.

If the next game is another MK it needs to be the most unapologetic back to basics thing imaginable that doesn’t blow its budget on a cinematic story mode
@HandheldHero
Console is a funny way to say Unreal Engine 5.
Remember the devs made the choice to make a game about precision 3D platforming but didn’t seem have consistent performance as a number one priority.
Do these two have a deal with sites where they’ll periodically get separate articles on everything they say while not having headlines that make it clear it’s from them?
@ShadLink Voice chat is great. I’m glad they integrated it at the system level, and I’m sure it’s getting a decent amount of usage, but that’s not what this is about. They put in camera/game video features for it that have to have system resources like RAM reserved for it at all times. It’s why the OS footprint is 3GB vs the 1GB of Switch 1, a undisclosed number of tensor cores are also reserved for video chat face tracking and background removal. It’s not hard to imagine that those aspects of Gamechat aren’t being used much, especially when one of them requires a USB camera. I’m sure they’re looking at the usage data closely and will make decisions based of it sooner or later.
@NotASockPuppet I imagine these movies have pumped him up harder than the reception to anything he has ever worked on. If it’s true what Takaya Imamura said about him viewing games as products and not works of art, then that’s absolutely the case as people with that mindset always treat film as man’s crowning achievement, it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t even consider that he found prestige until Hollywood came knocking.
@Yoshi3 Lmao oh yeah I remember how everyone swore MK9 was gonna be Smash Kart it just had to right? I’ve played a lot of Crossworlds and I don’t really feel it’s gimmick I’d rather have longer more involved tracks instead, it also stinks that a big chunk of its track list is locked behind this gimmick so they can’t be chosen for main track races which to me sucks as hard as MKW’s war against 3 lap races.
@King_MFW They surprisingly don’t when looking at the screenshot, just look at the prince he’s much blurrier on SW1 docked vs SW2 handheld despite being the same resolution, not sure why.
@-wc-
So are the people frothing at the mouth for a ps6 no matter these current conditions that aren’t ending anytime soon using a bunch of poorly optimized drek to justify it.
Digital Eclipse needs to see a standard for input lag for their emulation projects at launch instead of whatever it is their doing where they don’t seem to consider at all until they’re called out on it every single time.
So much of these notes “these things were good so made them worse” like ultimate charge is popular because getting hit in this game is devastating, you can be in 1st on the 3rd lap but getting hit once is usually enough to send you to the back of the pack in a heartbeat especially on the final straight.
@cyrus_zuo I’ve seen speculation that the whole thing was made to be comically brutal so you’ll turn on the cheat options for meta reasons, this makes some sense to me as when you get to a certain point the game ceases to be Zelda and Dark Souls gameplay and instead becomes about meta puzzles that have nothing to do with that gameplay to the point where it feels like the main thing the dev cared about, the biggest tell for this being the case is the final boss and the proper way to beat it.
@DollyrotsFan1
Don’t worry if every single Banjo and Conner fan in the entire world, all 100% of them bought a new X-Box……. then it wouldn’t even be a single foot crawling out of the hole the Xbox division has dug themselves , I’m sure people buying them to send emails surely will do the trick though.

@Coalescence
If you’re saying that people are extremely compulsive, obsessive and prone to peer pressure making them think they have to blow hundreds of hours doing that then yes you’re correct.
@Jeronan It could have had the greatest name and marketing in the world and the Wii audience still wasn’t going to bite because the concept just didn’t appeal to them, the tablet was an absolute nonstarter yet it was the big selling point. 3DS had much clearer marketing but that didn’t save it from it’s disastrous first year, it wasn’t pulling in the DS audience with it’s 3D feature and the games were largely disconnected from the DS generation. So what did Nintendo do? 3D became greatly deemphasized and games became more line with experiences from the previous DS with ports of 64/Gamecube games become a rarity despite the launch making it seem like they’d be a constant. Outside of massively dropping the price of Wii U and replacing the tablet with an upgraded Wiimote course correction was nearly impossible and Nintendo most likely had projections telling them within its first year.
@SplatRay001 They have to be when Nintendo has forced a separate purchase to play these, when you’re throwing down 25 or 99 bucks instead of realizing that Nintendo is playing you for a fool with this requirement you have to convince yourself to eat, sleep and drink the hype for the bloody Virtual Boy. The whole thing is probably a experiment to see if they can attach arbitrary accessory requirements to future games when it’s obvious the requirement isn’t necessary.
The new tracks spamming the jaw harp the same way Origins and Legends do reminds me of Jun Senoue obsessively spamming the Sonic 1 drum sample since Sonic 4 and most recently Superstars.
I think it’s also them looking at how it’s handled on PS5 where it be confusing at times dealing with games that have a PS4 version, you have to deal with bringing up a system menu to switch versions and the PSN store listings are messy where it has a drop down menu that includes demos and bundles as each version of the game. Nintendo went with a method that makes it obvious you’re using and buying a NS2 version game and they probably think it’s good marketing for games at this point in the system’s life when people are hungry for dedicated NS2 games.
The funniest thing is the champing at the bit at Sony to put out a PS6 next year right up to this point. Their devs with a few exceptions are struggling to get even one game out on PS5 let alone 2 so what’s going to happen next given this trajectory? More layoffs and studio closures that’s what.
@Wexter Shenmue was a AAA game of it’s day it had a huge scope telling a continuous story across unique locations using full voice acting, Yakuza lives off asset/location reuse to sustain itself and meet a regular release schedule and heavily uses text box/emotes for storytelling along with so many other JRPG conventions that they finally made it turned based, that’s very far removed from what Shenmue was doing.
@Lizuka The effects drag it into 3D Mario territory when they introduce some one off element that becomes the sole focus of the level especially when it changes the entire playstyle, NSMBU has a lot of wacky and surprising levels too but it does so within the regular Mario gameplay making it closer at doing what SMB3 did than Wonder, a lot of this is lost in discussions because the visual impact in Wonder is much more potent and memorable, U only has a only has a few brief instances of achieving that like it’s Starry Night level.
@Wewewi Looks like the same problem Fast Fusion has with the type of DLSS it’s using where it’s not very effective at all in motion coupled with using a low internal resolution resulting in lots of simmering. Could also be awful TAA if it’s not using DLSS.
@Metazoxan I remember how people initially thought crossworlds meant the game was going to pull from all kinds like Sonic universes and timelines with no restrictions, but instead it’s just that massive whatever of a Netflix show and the island from Superstars, if you wanted the movie characters or anything that would endanger the precious canon too bad, it’s why they tossed in that island but not Trip or other classic characters because the canon is sacred law apparently now.
