They’re likely deliberately holding on on revealing too much about the platforming focus of the game, it’s a repeat of what happened with Odyssey where people thought it was a tech demo game with auto runner gameplay and not a return to 64 style levels highly acrobatic platforming.
The protocol change is probably why they didn’t put out an update for the SW1 controllers, unless it’s hard coded then changing it would likely make it only able to wake SW2 and require another update to change it back for SW1. Why they didn’t make the console able to respond to both is the bigger question. @Mz3player @TheMainMii It’s a standard feature that goes back on to the Wii 19 years ago not sure why people are trying to downplay it as some hidden niche thing. Even the article does it by calling it “semi-essential”.
Looks dumb but reminds of me the odd food tie-ins we had in the first era and they made a choice that will infuriate people and will somehow absurdly view it as a threat or insult so I’m in full support of these nasty chocolates.
The free roam mode is pretty constrained shows a willingness to avoid copying what the rest of the genre is doing but if what you like doing is collecting things and completing challenges then it’s not making the most of the large world it has, there’s probably less of them than a single kingdom in Oddsey has. The controls and move set have this feel like Oddsey where they are very fluid and allow to pull off lots of cool combos but unlike Oddsey they aren’t feeling like you’re constantly being rewarding for using them, something akin to balloon world would be a prefect addition.
@tabris95 I think there’s a decent chance Feperd could add in a 60fps or unlocked mode if he gets enough requests, would be great to have as there is no PS5/XSX console ports of the game that probably would have been 60fps.
@Haruki_NLI Just like with standard TAA when there’s a hard camera cut the first 1-2 frames will be the raw internal resolution because that’s all DLSS has to work with.
They should make a Sonic kart racer with actual Sonic gameplay elements like rail grinding, parkour and the ability to stylishly chain them together for free form shortcuts, surely no kart racer has already beaten them to the punch on this right?
Gotta love the timeless appeal of mashing A through hours of text boxes in that era of Zelda where who knows how long it takes before the game actually lets you do what you want. Even better when it forces you into a stealth segment you can instantly fail. Hard to imagine, back then, that they’d ever make a game that quickly presents its end objective and gives you the freedom to tackle it on your own terms. The dogma of that era was so entrenched that even small things like stopping the game to explain what a rupee is every time you reload a save felt absurdly baked into the formula.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yes they it’s a quite a lot more power efficient than the Switch 1 especially the 2017 OG model, SW1 OG would max out I believe at 8.9W undocked vs the 10W of SW2 but those efficiencies are being used to drive a much more powerful system with a larger brighter screen so when it’s being maxed nonstop out the battery life is closer to that 2017 model when maxed out as well.
@Stwert It’s shocking that they did that in the first place instead of just targeting 60 for all modes with no settings like that, I guess they cared more about how world tour visually looked for marketing purposes despite looking a few steps removed from PlayStation Home.
A period piece setting would have saved this concept for me instead it just feels like an continuation of the setting and aesthetic that the Craig films and games wore out extensively.
@MirrorFate2 It’s already including games up 2003 which might just be the GBA games rather than the the console DA so there’s high likelihood it won’t be “komplete”. They could include all that and there’s a ton of ports and games people will tear into this for not having someone for example will act like not including Special Forces is horrendous and make that their hill to die on.
@Kwyjibo_Kitsune VRR might be locked to the Switch 2 APIs where it needs to be a native app to use it but I don’t think this has been confirmed yet, having HDR does make me think that they do have access to some of it’s feature set though.
@Getagrip101 A publicly traded company, wouldn’t intentionally throw away money and years of development on hardware like that . The Wii U was a mistake, just like the early struggles of the 3DS. But unlike the 3DS, they couldn’t course correct to save it and they were already struggling with HD game development so they moved on. What worked for them in the end was timing. Mobile tech was getting better and better after 2012, and they were able to go to a hybrid design with the Switch. That wasn’t some big plan from the beginning of the Wii U. It was smart thinking. You can still respect Iwata for helping Nintendo through that transition without changing history to pretend that every step was planned.
@Tyranexx
It desperately needs full color for what’s otherwise a cool piece of art, without that color though characters like Dr Doom are just lost in there like one of those magic eye posters.
@JohnnyMind I don’t even think there’s a major instance of glass scattering on a mobile device causing such an issue or harm that would justify such mandatory out of the box protection and spooking people not to remove the plastic film two times in a row now, despite what this article says these films are almost entirely used on foldable screen type phones.
@Lizuka It’s a strategy Microsoft has employed since the days of DOS and confirmed in numerous memos and court cases, its an effective and simple to implement tactic especially in the age of things going viral on social media.

@Teksette It’s not that much like Shenmue unfortunately, you’ll get excited over the cutscenes and exploring the city at first but you can get worn down fast by all the non voiced text boxes which make up a massive chunk of the game especially if you choose to do the side quests.
@ear_wig With these simple looking games I always just assume it’s poor performance as counter intuitive as that sounds, reminds me of Sable and Watertale on PS5 very simple stylish visuals but the framerate absolutely tanks at time.
@Koxen Well that’s a sign of why of this happening considering how much more a sequel would cost hence why they’ve chosen this route and hoping it will generate enough sales for their next original game.
@Michael0916
Yes one requires you to clog your phone with another app and one doesn’t, reminds me of all the crappy launchers publishers have infested PC games with or games requiring signing up for the publisher’s website for no good reason.
I’d love that instead of Injustice 3 they did a general DC comics fighter designed around capturing the iconic appeal of its characters the way Capcom did with Marvel, comic/animated aesthetic with a new approach to move animations to address their glaring problems in almost all their other games, no edgy story in fact there’s no budget eating cutscene driven story and instead there’s more SP modes that don’t feel like a miserable grind. It’s hard to imagine NRS actually being able to pull it off though.
@pikachupikachup Lots of devices like phones have magnets these days for wireless charging and compensate in software the effect they have on the magnetometer that the compass uses, there’s no way the sticks would affect the connection they simply aren’t that strong.
@Zorox88 Just imagine the experience for new users if they want to build a certain deck that needs cards from most of the packs, it’s bad now and going by the current rate will be borderline impossible by the end of the year . Either they’ll do something that addresses this or it collapses under its own weight.
Guess they’re gonna do a Prime 4 Samus instead of a reissue of Prime 3 Samus, hopefully it will have option parts for green or purple to make it a good alternative to it, Prime 3 Samus goes for insane amounts on the secondary market like 2 or 3 times more than this Other M ever does. @Yoshi3 Can’t say I care to look into your positing history but the whole legacy sequel thing it has going on and making the beloved main character weak and useless at times probably has a lot in common with whatever you’re referring to.
@SeaCarp Don’t worry the price hike isn’t going to the studios it’s going towards the Pitchford’s of the world and execs higher up than him who will continue massive layoffs no matter what, also keep in mind that Randy’s magic trick addiction isn’t going to pay for it’s self so it’s time for true fans to cough up the cash.

Maybe it’s just something wonky with the scans but I like the contrast the Western box has way better, on the Japanese box only the blue falcon stands out while the other machines get lost in all the red and orange going on.
That ZL is better eye rolling I doubt anyone who isn’t diehard about this being authentic would complain about it being a mirror of the regular Z button, in fact I think most people would be happy if it had a completely redesigned Z button as it’s awful and unergonomic on a controller that has otherwise great ergonomics, it feels so bad to press with no real feedback that they put that little bump on it so you’ll even know you’re pressing on it instead of the space between it and the trigger.
