@Ulysses Likely has nothing to do with that and is more an experiment going off their observations of YouTubers ripping their trailer songs, if they act very aggressively taking down YouTube videos of it then I’m probably right.
@StewdaMegaManNerd The artwork is pure Robotnik though he looks 100% pissed and motivated not some goofy guy who just complains about being beat by Sonic all the time while he lets out the next ancient evil that backfires on him.
@ShieldHero It’s not really a big deal when you consider that if you’ve already played a regular EX or even two regulars and lose those the next point is a loss no matter what so there’s no unique penalty for playing the mega then who’s gonna be primed at that point to mop up what the opponent has left while being tanky enough to survive the process.
@Whirlwound It’s pretty apparent in the trailer some of it looks nice like you’d expect a late gen GameCube game to look but a lot also looks like a early PS2 game with very low res textures.
@Flashlink99 I honestly think the execs are just that obsessively high on their own supply about the camera thinking it’s the biggest thing since the Wiimote, it’s why they let system resources and RT cores be reserved for game chat so what do you think happens when they’re shown a game that heavily uses it despite looking like absolute shovelware?
We need new Welcome Tour minigames where you reel in a fish while awkwardly using the gyro to dodge a million spiked balls that flood the screen, or maybe a a lock picking one that’s dependent on hd rumble but also thinks a average player will be able to judge the high level rumbles down to single percentages.
@elpardo1984 Probably not just look up their DF Clips channel which is usually dominated by clickbaity topics from their weekly show, the latest one has John bizarrely acting like the sky is falling for Switch 2 because that partner direct was a letdown. They also freak the hell out at any game still using FSR1, I’m not a fan of it either but their petal clutching is hysterical.
More pop culture consumed by Tim Epic’s greygooverse. @Hapless Power Rangers are cool but Power Rangers getting sucked into this gaping mow so they can kill people with AK-47s and do TikTok dances, not so cool.
@Ramouz Well you’re in luck because there’s 29 years worth of games featuring his voice so you can experience how repetitive it gets listening to the same reused voice clips ad nauseam.
So was the campfire game last week to throw people off or just to keep it from eating up time from this because it’s more than likely better? I can see execs getting worked over its use of the cameras and deciding to push it.
The chain does improve combat a lot you can be pretty aggressive with it and interrupt enemies out of their attacks with its charge attack, gems can have pretty powerful effects like giving its charge attack a 50% stun chance or spewing out fireballs while charging it.
Not a fan of that u-turn jump it doesn’t have any utility compared to roll other than it not bouncing off walls, it having sonar just seems random he’s not even hitting the ground with open hands so it’s not consistent with the hand slap. Hitting dive punch then immediately roll is one of my favorite things to do, it’s just as useful as Mario’s side somersault.
@0_Cassiel_0 Oh yeah gotta love the jerk reaction to Jim where people were saying it was completely made up and Sony being spiteful, sites like this were running articles with the same attitude. Even before Layden backed it up you can find people doing estimates as far back as 2018 that the LTD was 159.2m-161.9m. Let’s say that miraculously they did somehow sell 160m of those and presented proof of it what do you think the reaction would be? I predict the same as Jim got.
The gameplay is too mindless and weightless it feels like someone hacked basic action combat into Octopath and called it a day, the Zelda similarities are just for show it’s more like some old mobile ARPG like Zenonia.
@solarwolf07 Licensed musou games are supposed to be bombastic fun celebrations of the properly just like the original HW not some vehicle for telling “canon” and being limited by that, the imprisonment era characters and lore other than Zelda are incredibly boring just like in TOTK just listen to the voice acting they still sound like they need a nap, never once did I sit through TOTK’s telling me the same things about that era and its smug dull characters over and over and thought that I want to know more instead of more about what happened between the game and BOTW which beyond a few scraps refuses to go into detail about.
@Hapless You get the feeling what then that they has no idea what to actually do for it but needed to have it anyway because Odyssey had it and was a memorable part of that game yet unlike with Mario there’s not a endless amount of things to reference so it’s all pretty boring stuff.
It’s not accusations at this point when they themselves have admitted to it and explained exactly how it happened. @Shaw_Brothers Unless there are tons of examples of them doing this then no there’s no chance it has any effect on that.
@mikegamer
Yes it has phosphors, and since the app was updated with 4K support it can do this down to the individual game pixel level. They had already done a similar effect on GBA NSO when it launched by simulating its LCD grid complete with subpixels.
@SillyG
4K is actually the best resolution for retro games since it does a proper full screen integer scale of 240p and has enough pixels to do proper CRT simulation. Sonic Mania’s CRT filter is one of the best example of this it runs at 4K on PS4 Pro/PS5 and looks incredibly sharp nothing about the image is degraded, the CRT effect enhances low res pixel art by giving it breathing room instead of being big blocky chunks of solid colors, games back then we’re made with CRTs in mind it’s why they used dithering for transparencies or color blending and also why games that heavily relied on this look awful unfiltered.
@ChromaticDracula 2D sprite based retro games play like total trash at 30fps, SNES NSO has a few of them and they don’t feel cinematic they feel like walking through mud. The original Ninja Gaiden trilogy were all 60fps and as difficult as they are they’d be near impossible at 30fps.
@Seacliff Is it? The ones I’ve seen reference N64 and PS1, this game is using Saturn in its name because Dreamcast is trademarked, the new trailer even opens with a Dreamcast BIOS style menu.
@WiltonRoots It’s the one who randomly screams into the mic blowing it out without warning as a a bit right? Unfortunately had this channel recommend to me recently.
@rvcolem1 Reading this has made me realize that Goodnight Punpun is basically the anti Scott Pilgrim, it viciously tears apart a lot of the things Pilgrim glorifies.
@Kestrel Yeah it’s like Gotham Knights it has the foundation to make a great Batman game that’s doing the things people love about the Arkham games and would have came out sooner than whatever Rocksteady is doing now, it’s what WB Montreal was actually in early stages of doing before WB killed it if rumors are to be believed.
Good change over Odyssey where coins are just completely lost on death. Anyway this is the anti-from game you can instantly cancel all your moves and almost all attacks by enemies are unsafe with the way they can be easily countered or interrupted with your own, the combat is simple but it lets you be proactive in ways most games seem to be afraid of being these days
@martynstuff Shipping culture has screwed with people so bad that they can’t accept the idea of platonic relationships between any set of characters in media no matter what, it doesn’t help that a lot of creators pander to them.
Haven’t seen that marvel games logo before 🤢 too bad it didn’t get introduced with that Avengers game they probably would have gotten rid of it, at least the MVC collection doesn’t have it.
@Medic_alert They have a habit of loving the original use of A for jump as that goes back to the NES but here it has some reasoning behind it B/Y/X are down/center/up just the punches they do, swapping them is just as natural if you’ve played games like Sonic that put stomp and crouch on B.
People just blinding assuming he’s correct like the remakes have you jumping full height on any press are being ridiculous. I get that the remakes are annoying but there are actual accurate reasons behind that unlike this one.
Don’t see the point of doing this again unless they want to see if they get the same reaction it got last time. People will be smartened up to what this is, so it’s going to be pretty subdued unless there’s something drastically different about it. The first one had the attention it got due to mindless speculation and then bolstered by Nintendo telling people not to discuss or share anything from it.
@Yojimbo This stuff is big business, you can probably find videos with hundreds of the thousands of views claiming it’s a key card release and other BS.
@AndrosEGD What’s a pain in the ass about this video exactly? It’s pretty informative, to the point and fairly positive with the biggest issue being latency as others have pointed out since it launched last month but backed with actual numbers and comparisons to the original GCN.
@TheBigK
The tone of the video is the high speed collision of generating rage clicks and narcissism it’s why it ends on “but it doesn't have to be this way. Nintendo, give us a call”, they have a lot of skin in the game and a hell of a savior complex.
@Johnny44 Yeah they need to look and perform like typical UE5 powered junk to earn the coveted next gen™ moniker because that’s all that matters right? Maybe go play Mindeyes if you want a big heaping dose of next gen graphics if that’s all you care about.
@Chocobo_Shepherd About as often as I’ve played these game and have absolutely no idea what the core gameplay is trying to do and the motivation behind it, seems like a vehicle for nonstop voiced dialogue and cool sprite art that resembles their Mega Man games but the gameplay is nothing like it and feels like it was designed by aliens.
This is will be nice to have considering taking ingame photos currently has you being exposed hard to the brutal reality of it’s image quality. I’d really love a proper upgrade for RMX at this point, just give me native 4K and a 1080p120hz mode, the next gen graphics of Fusion are nice but you get numb to them after a while especially with the image quality compromises they had to make that not even pure mode can solve. If Fusion had simply looked as nice as Wipeout HD in order to balance out image quality and performance I would have been fine with that, instead it’s pushing a lot of modern rendering techniques and using DLSS at very low internal resolutions to offset the performance of doing that.
From the people who brought you “They’re not loot boxes, they’re “surprise mechanics,” and they’re quite ethical”. Tomorrow they’ll probably start telling us that killing games is actually saving games.
