Re: Pokémon TCG Pocket's Next Gen II-Themed Booster Pack Arrives Very Soon

SalvorHardin

@SpaceboyScreams
The killer is the filler, if you just want to collect the base cards it does everything possible to keep you from them considering they keep putting in more rare cards like shinys that are usually variants of cards from previous sets. I’d have to go though the pull rate info to compare to previous months but something feels off about last months set it’s a struggle to get a single new card after five pulls and even then it’s like I mentioned a rare card.

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Finally Has A Release Date

SalvorHardin

They need to do a $20 DLC called Clown Mode, people will download it expecting it’s cosmetics based off that “hilarious” meme but in reality it’s a mode that documents the game’s lengthy development explaining the whys and hows if it.
@Fizza
Whoa I’m laughing my ass off so funny XD

Re: Video: Uh Oh, Elden Ring On Switch 2 Has Issues In Handheld Mode

SalvorHardin

@Deadlyblack
It does detract from it a lot I’ve played the it a lot on PS5 having it drop frames while needing to read them precisely when dealing with bosses and their very drawn out attack strings will often get you get killed, Bananza is a much looser experience you have complete control to do whatever you want with DK very quickly due to the lighting fast move canceling and have huge amounts of priority advantage against enemies it’s the opposite of Elden Ring where you have to commit to most moves while bosses won’t even flinch against your attacks which the player doesn’t have the luxury of.

Re: Rumour: Another Bethesda Game Is Landing On Switch 2, It's Claimed

SalvorHardin

Starfield has some of the most generic fake video game playing on to the background during a tv show vibes ever, Starlink has more unique personality and charm and that’s saying a lot. Uncle Phil’s zealots and acquisition cheerleaders treating it like the second coming pre release only for it to immediately evaporate after release was pretty amusing though.

Re: Video: At Last! We've Played Hollow Knight: Silksong On Switch 2

SalvorHardin

@Coalescence
That’s what it’s always been the biggest difference is that the character is faster and less rigid, the rigidity in Hollow Knight is my least favorite aspect of it the way platforming sections have you always getting sent back on taking certain types of environmental damage, the way combat is held back by how slow you are how short your melee range is and that little kickback you get on landing a hit really turns it into a chore.

Re: Geoff Keighley Either Knows Something About Silksong, Or Is Just Being A Tool

SalvorHardin

I’ll never understand this clown meme it’s just generic image board fodder why did it latch onto this game in particular? What’s clever about it? How does it relate to this game in the slightest? Just seems utterly vapid to me.

“ In the absence of news from Team Cherry but with the momentum of fans' hype for a Hollow Knight sequel, this disappointment inevitably began to lead users to self-deprecating memes to deal with the growing frustration. As a result, the Hollow Knight clown makeup meme was born, encapsulating the self-sustaining cycle of fans getting their hopes up when each new gaming event or showcase rolls around only to have those hopes dashed when there's of course no news.”
If this is correct then I’m correct about it being vapid and meaningless.

Re: Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO Switch And Switch 2 Performance & Resolution Detailed

SalvorHardin

@JR150
UE5 is a scourge and that Matrix demo was bait that the industry fell for hook line and sinker. I think the main reason UE5 exists other than increasing Epic’s stranglehold on the industry is also to make sure hardware makers can keep shoving out new GPUs every year and of course another generation of consoles from Sony and MS despite how horrifically stalled their software output has become, Switch 2 is in a awkward spot because the engine is junk on PS5 requiring all sorts of compromises so what chance does it stand at not falling into the same pit?

Re: Pokémon TCG Pocket's Next Expansion Introduces A Mega Mix-Up

SalvorHardin

@ShieldHero
It’s not really a big deal when you consider that if you’ve already played a regular EX or even two regulars and lose those the next point is a loss no matter what so there’s no unique penalty for playing the mega then who’s gonna be primed at that point to mop up what the opponent has left while being tanky enough to survive the process.

Re: "We Answer To Nobody But You, The Audience" - Digital Foundry Is Now Fully Independent

SalvorHardin

@elpardo1984
Probably not just look up their DF Clips channel which is usually dominated by clickbaity topics from their weekly show, the latest one has John bizarrely acting like the sky is falling for Switch 2 because that partner direct was a letdown. They also freak the hell out at any game still using FSR1, I’m not a fan of it either but their petal clutching is hysterical.

@0_Cassiel_0
Oh yeah gotta love the jerk reaction to Jim where people were saying it was completely made up and Sony being spiteful, sites like this were running articles with the same attitude. Even before Layden backed it up you can find people doing estimates as far back as 2018 that the LTD was 159.2m-161.9m.
Let’s say that miraculously they did somehow sell 160m of those and presented proof of it what do you think the reaction would be? I predict the same as Jim got.

Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Teases New Construct In Fresh Trailer

SalvorHardin

@solarwolf07
Licensed musou games are supposed to be bombastic fun celebrations of the properly just like the original HW not some vehicle for telling “canon” and being limited by that, the imprisonment era characters and lore other than Zelda are incredibly boring just like in TOTK just listen to the voice acting they still sound like they need a nap, never once did I sit through TOTK’s telling me the same things about that era and its smug dull characters over and over and thought that I want to know more instead of more about what happened between the game and BOTW which beyond a few scraps refuses to go into detail about.

Re: Switch Online's SNES Update Has Apparently Upgraded The CRT Filter

SalvorHardin

@mikegamer
Yes it has phosphors, and since the app was updated with 4K support it can do this down to the individual game pixel level. They had already done a similar effect on GBA NSO when it launched by simulating its LCD grid complete with subpixels.
@SillyG
4K is actually the best resolution for retro games since it does a proper full screen integer scale of 240p and has enough pixels to do proper CRT simulation. Sonic Mania’s CRT filter is one of the best example of this it runs at 4K on PS4 Pro/PS5 and looks incredibly sharp nothing about the image is degraded, the CRT effect enhances low res pixel art by giving it breathing room instead of being big blocky chunks of solid colors, games back then we’re made with CRTs in mind it’s why they used dithering for transparencies or color blending and also why games that heavily relied on this look awful unfiltered.

Re: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Will "Average" 30fps On Switch

SalvorHardin

@ChromaticDracula
2D sprite based retro games play like total trash at 30fps, SNES NSO has a few of them and they don’t feel cinematic they feel like walking through mud. The original Ninja Gaiden trilogy were all 60fps and as difficult as they are they’d be near impossible at 30fps.

Re: Ubisoft Reportedly Cancels Star Wars Outlaws Sequel

SalvorHardin

@Kestrel
Yeah it’s like Gotham Knights it has the foundation to make a great Batman game that’s doing the things people love about the Arkham games and would have came out sooner than whatever Rocksteady is doing now, it’s what WB Montreal was actually in early stages of doing before WB killed it if rumors are to be believed.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Takes Inspiration From Dark Souls For These Gold Statues

SalvorHardin

Good change over Odyssey where coins are just completely lost on death.
Anyway this is the anti-from game you can instantly cancel all your moves and almost all attacks by enemies are unsafe with the way they can be easily countered or interrupted with your own, the combat is simple but it lets you be proactive in ways most games seem to be afraid of being these days
