The game froze in a way that didn’t trigger the OS crash protection to activate while very likely locking CPU usage at 100% hence the fans kicking into max RPM.
@Dr_Lugae
Oh wow I didn’t know about the price that’s hysterical honestly considering how cheap it looks, nothing I played in the beta felt like a game I’d want to sink time into let alone worth 70 bucks honestly it felt like a shallow low budget F2P game and the DLC just reinforces that.
@Bass_X0 As far as licensed GC games go I think Rogue Leader has a decent chance if Nintendo cares no make an effort for it, there’s been a lot of lot of old Star Wars games getting rereleases the past couple years and PS Plus has gotten a few PS1/PS2/PSP ones added to it’s classic tier.
@Polvasti Both are done by Shinya Sano I believe but it’s difficult finding specific credits for the key art, the SM art has a very 90’s anime look to it.
@SillyG
On top of paying that much for a yearly series Take Two sees as instantly disposable when the next one releases, they kill the online for these game’s incredibly fast with 2K24 getting axed in September.
Their whole fulfillment system where they store and ship items given to them by third party storefronts its probably at the heart of this if this story is true, worth checking if they were doing this with those SEA Nintendo products.
@Exerion76 They can send CEC commands it’s what “match tv power state” uses so it’s possible there’s something really odd going with that which would trigger it to disconnect the controllers,
The funniest part about this is that a significant chunk of the discussion is obsessing over what to call those tracks, I guess it’s a kind of deflection tactic to yell at someone calling them intermission tracks to derail things over that than get into the meat of what those tracks are gameplay wise which is harder for the defense force to fight.
@Dee123
Yeah this is the same Sega that when Dream Team is free from its contractual exclusivity to Apple Arcade will probably let it be removed and forgotten rather than porting it anywhere else.
@ChronoTimeEgg This become quickly common knowledge especially with Nintendo themselves explaining the purpose of the gap, it makes this entire article suspect for not acknowledging it.
At least this is happening early enough for it to cause enough of a fuss for them to hopefully relent in a later update. @Sylamp Also really really really dumb considering how Nintendo has been with how they name games, they can be very random with how they use numbers with only two games in MK being numbered sequels. @sanderev That mode barely does anything with it the challenges are few and very short, there’s a reason it’s just called “free roam” I haven’t seen a game use that name for a mode like that where it didn’t feel barebones and inessential.
Oh it’s for completing the quizzes guy talks to you and mentions certain tidbits but it takes a lot of them to get this one: “ You may recall when I brought up the minigame Dodge the Spiked Balls. I mentioned it was designed by a staff member who's really into bullet-barrage games. Which is fine! But the problem is, I think the designer likes that sort of game too much...and went a little overboard. Part four is really, really hard! Its designer said the difficulty is what makes it so fun. So, I guess what I'm saying is... Dodge the Spiked Balls part 4 is the toughest challenge you'll find at this exhibition. So be ready for it! Oh, but if you're really struggling with it, try handing the second controller to a friend. It can actually be played with two players!“
I can’t seem to find where there dialogue, it seems to have a lot of one-off dialogue that only happen after certain minigames or demos that you can’t repeat, the NPC mentioned the spike ball minigame being difficult and there was a reason for it then later popped up again mentioning the designer was a barrage game fan who thought it was a fun to make the mouse minigames like that. @Kyloctopus This would have gotten rooted out if they play tested it more or had more oversight but it’s like I said earlier it seems to delight in being infuriating, the two star medal requirements require near perfection and the secret third ones require perfection with no wiggle room I can’t even think of a Nintendo game that is quite like that outside of the hard/very hard story missions in F-Zero GX. @TKundNobody I think doing what they did was was a last minute call when Nintendo looked at the end product and realized it would turn off and annoy people and that’s the last thing you want as a first impression from a pack-in.
@ATMVF The minigames never get better they don’t care about being fun they care about being infuriating, there’s dialogue that mentions that they were developed by a bullet hell fan and that explains everything. They completely lack the Nintendo charm that makes me excited about the new features of the console the way Wii Sports or the minigames in Mario 64 DS did instead they feel like they had completely zero oversight and were made with the goal of attracting streamers with ragebait where they spend hours trying to get all the stars
Welcome Tour in between it’s seeming endless supply of rage bait minigames that don’t seem like they were playtested explains why the magnets don’t work properly if the joycon and console are flush as it provides easy leverage to break the connection . They likely would have supplied this info to accessory makers but for the ones that are operating off leaked informations and diagrams things like this probably aren’t accounted for or even known.
@Anti-Matter I’m sure physical sports players follow this same creed and aren’t rewarded multi hundred million dollar guaranteed contracts for doing horrifically worse things. Esports can’t compete with the level of nastiness physical sports, not in a million years and that includes how their respective fanbases act.
@PikminMarioKirby It’s not even a decent competitor to the last two games as the core of it feels incredibly off and inferior, has incredibly worse music and the characters seem to speak in nothing but references because we now live in the Ian Flynn era where pandering to people who write wikis equals quality writing. These whatever crossovers eating up the DLC slots is hilariously on point especially after people got worked up over what actual Sonic characters they thought this was gonna to include.
@kalosn UE already has an infamous amount of asset streaming and traversal stutter issues that devs much more technically talented like Respawn have failed to fully address, I don’t think Game Freak or Sonic Team should be sniffing anywhere near it. UE5 is known right now as the place where performance and image quality curl up and die.
It’s good that they’re able and proactive about fixing these on their end, on PS5 the very few game that had serious issues under BC were solely reliant on the game’s devs making a patch.
@AG_Awesome Switch 2 addresses this by upgrading controllers with a 9-axis IMU that adds a magnetometer, this prevents yaw drift making it closer to the Wii’s IR cursor, I’ve seen people mention that this fixes the gyro cursor with HOTD1.
Seems to be inspired by the 90’s Nickelodeon game show Double Dare. @Truegamer79 I doubt anyone saw Bowser being turned into a giant loser taking a bath with terrible voice right out of a bad Hanna-Barbera cartoon coming.
@TKundNobody
That’s because it is as its anamorphic widescreen, a 16:9 image in a 4:3 window that gets stretched out to 16:9. SoulCalibur II Doesn’t adjust it’s menus for this unlike F-Zero so they’re still 4:3 but stretched to 16:9.
The models and faces of the DS remakes of FF III and IV have so much more character than these where they seem to be stuck looking like permanently uninterested, is the plot about them all being heavily depressed?
@OorWullie Look up a tear down they are really easy to take apart, clean and apply machine oil. Alternatively you could apply a bit of the oil into the sides of the button using a needle applicator and work it in, that should probably be enough to fix ir and you can clean up any excess with rubbing alcohol.
SoulCalibur II holds up remarkable well visually with the 2X resolution boost they gave it, having a sharp stable image beats whatever the hell is going on with that awful depth of field effect VI has.
@Shepdawg1
The video isn’t helpful about that unfortunately he doesn’t give how many clicks it takes to set it at 1000 nits and then 200 paper white despite telling people to do that.
@Polvasti
Makes the video a waste of time, seemed he didn’t like how steps it had and didn’t want to bother making a chart of them.
He did make a comment saying this
“ Update 16 June 2025: We have temporarily removed the nits chart to investigate the discrepancies reported by some viewers. Thank you for your understanding”
So the video had one but he edited it out I guess. Some of the other commenters mention Cyberpunk and Hogwarts listing the actual numbers so all someone would have to do is make a chart using those.
They’re likely deliberately holding on on revealing too much about the platforming focus of the game, it’s a repeat of what happened with Odyssey where people thought it was a tech demo game with auto runner gameplay and not a return to 64 style levels highly acrobatic platforming.
The protocol change is probably why they didn’t put out an update for the SW1 controllers, unless it’s hard coded then changing it would likely make it only able to wake SW2 and require another update to change it back for SW1. Why they didn’t make the console able to respond to both is the bigger question. @Mz3player @TheMainMii It’s a standard feature that goes back on to the Wii 19 years ago not sure why people are trying to downplay it as some hidden niche thing. The free roam mode is pretty constrained shows a willingness to avoid copying what the rest of the genre is doing but if what you like doing is collecting things and completing challenges then it’s not making the most of the large world it has, there’s probably less of them than a single kingdom in Oddsey has. The controls and move set have this feel like Oddsey where they are very fluid and allow to pull off lots of cool combos but unlike Oddsey they aren’t feeling like you’re constantly being rewarding for using them, something akin to balloon world would be a prefect addition.
@tabris95 I think there’s a decent chance Feperd could add in a 60fps or unlocked mode if he gets enough requests, would be great to have as there is no PS5/XSX console ports of the game that probably would have been 60fps.

Gotta love the timeless appeal of mashing A through hours of text boxes in that era of Zelda where who knows how long it takes before the game actually lets you do what you want. Even better when it forces you into a stealth segment you can instantly fail. Hard to imagine, back then, that they’d ever make a game that quickly presents its end objective and gives you the freedom to tackle it on your own terms. The dogma of that era was so entrenched that even small things like stopping the game to explain what a rupee is every time you reload a save felt absurdly baked into the formula.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yes they it’s a quite a lot more power efficient than the Switch 1 especially the 2017 OG model, SW1 OG would max out I believe at 8.9W undocked vs the 10W of SW2 but those efficiencies are being used to drive a much more powerful system with a larger brighter screen so when it’s being maxed nonstop out the battery life is closer to that 2017 model when maxed out as well.
