I think the strong criticism of Take-Two in this case with RDR i due because how they handled the GTA Trilogy. This port of RDR, and it's price tag, isn't really any worse than Nintendo's own "Deluxe" Wii U games, which are most often just up-resolution ports sold at full price.
It looks slightly better on Switch than the OG X360. Lightning and shadows looks a bit upgraded, but not by much - would have been nice with an upgrade to the textures, as Switch got so much more ram.
Im buying, but I'll wait for the physical version. I didn't really get into RDR2, the game was too slow in a bad way, the original RDR is a better game. Looking forward playing it handheld, as long as they don't have buthed the port in some way...
Id guess it could be a bit tricky to fit either an LCD or an OLED in identical chassis, as LCD:s are a lot thicker. And it would also complicate big order discounts for Nintendo.
Plus, maybe they want to release an OLED model in 2028
Wish they localized the english translations to somewhere outside west coast-US. Soon, we wont even be able to recruit kidsoldiers in Fire Emblem and Valkyria Chronicles.
@JoakimZ
I think it's because it runs on emulation, either Switch cant emulate Gamecube-games in both HD and higher framerates, or it would take too much work to get the game logic to function in higher framerate, if the original code is hardwired to update at 30. Remember, emulated games like Shenmue on PS4 is also stuck at 30. Pretty common among official emulated ports on consoles.
They would still mod their Switches and run their games free on emulation even if Nintendo icluded 100% of all games they've ever released on the NSO. They could always find another excuse
I've played plenty of upscaled games. They're still native low resolution, the upscaled output just highlights the ugliness that are normally hidden, exp on a CRT monitor for which Gamecube, Wii and PS2 games are designed for.
@Duncanballs
They wouldn't need them. Nintendo already have a team in Europe that works more or less with emulators only (plus video formats).
The fact there is no Gamecube-games on Switch Online is probably a business decision, MB they want Gamecube on Switch 2.
Only makes them look worse. Older games are best played on CRT at the resolution the games were designed for. Upscaling to "crispy 4K" is like AI-upscaling an old painting.
Id say it's easy for anyone over 15 yars of age to replace a Switch battery. Cellphones that are glued or even have softlocks for the battery on the other hand...
The game looks very much like a japanese oddball, I doubt it would be easy to gether an audience for it in say the US. I think it's simply a smart business decision to aim it for the Switch audience, as Nintendo nowadays are so much stronger in Japan than Playstation is. You must remember, Switch is huge in Japan, Playstation has been shrinking in the home country for a considerable time now.
No surprise the visuals looks a bit rough. They should really stop using Unreal Engine on Switch-exclusive games, the engine simple not perform well on Switch.
Not interested in a bloober game no matter what form. If you want a cheap and enjoyable horror game on Switch, I recommend 'Stay out of the house' - it's great.
I hope it's the LCD for the "Playstation handheld"-stream thing and not that Nintendo considers going back to an LCD-display for Switch 2. I love the Switch Oled-screen, can't go back go grey blacks
@NTELLIGENTMAN
Don't fall for the marketing tricks. LED-TV:s are LCD, QLED is LCD with a Samsung-developed layer for the LED:s of an LCD-screen.
@Robbie1Robbie
Just think an 1080p Oled for Switch 2, with VRR support. Would be truly great if the really demanding games that can't really do the jump to 60fps at least could bump up from 30 til 40fps with the screen fully in sync
lol! A 1000+ USD device, and they couldn't even include batteries in the detachable controllers, renders them more or less useless in tabletop mode. xD
This is a good thing. I mean, that he will still have to pay Nintendo, not that he got out. They could probably have kept him inside for a bit longer.
It's ridiculous all that wants to coddle with grown up criminals. He is like a middle aged guy, who knew what he was doing. If you steal, you pay for the damages. Simple as that. It doesn't matter if Nintendo or whoever you steal from "survives", you pay for the damages you cause. In full.
@Outta
He choosed to ruin his life himself. That's not on Nintendo, not on the courts. It's on him.
I just don't want those things in games, I tend to like things being like they've always been. "Best friends" was good enough, why change something that worked so fine to begin with? When it comes to something like simplified difficulty, it simply annoys me for some reason. I'd prefer if they just sold a separate Easy- version of the game so that options doesn't have to be in the regular version.
I really don't get how anyone could prefer the japanese graphic novel-look of this remake over the Gamecube-original design, everything just looks flat now. Also, Id prefer if they removed "non-binary" character choice, it just doesn't sit right.
Nintendo of Europe always sucks, but mb not as bas as over here in Scandinavia where we don't even have Nintendo Europe, only an agent who don't even sell Nintendo collector stuff on their website (we have to turn to Nintendo in Germany for those kind of things)
I didn't even think Retro were involved other than as advisors. I thought it was completely done by a smaller Nintendo in-house studio like Nintendo software technology.
Just imagine what Nintendo and Microsoft could have done with the Goldeneye licence. Nightdive made true remaster, cross-platform online between Switch and Xbox. Could have been truly great, now it was just good enough...
Well, fact is it's not 10x better than Switch version. Switch version are better on some aspects, Xbox on other. Overall, they are just about exactly the same.
Cool, I sure hope hall effect will be standard in the coming 3-5 years. Not that I've had big problems with drift myself, only one joy-con since 2017. Usually, the sticks reset springs tend to be a bigger fail factor than drift, except for the joy-cons.
Well, those kind of games, plus graphic novell type of games like Phoenix Wright would probably be fine with even lower frame rates, like 24fps. I've honestly never noticed the problems you claim to have with 30fps games, I think it's something like you really have to actively be looking for problems while playing.

Re: Hands On: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 Could Be So Much More, But Isn't
lol, and here I thought Rockstar were lazy with RDR. 720p on PS5, they gotta be joking, right? xD
Re: Talking Point: Will You Pay $50 For Red Dead Redemption On Switch?

And yet still, it's one hell of a boring game. Original RDR is a better game in every way, except for the graphics.

Ofc it could have been ported to Wii U...if Wii U had sold 120M units.

So, if you split it in two, to campare to when Nintendo had two active systems at the same time (home+handheld), its about comparable to SNES+GBA.
