Re: Cloud Gaming Service Google Stadia Shuts Down Internal Development Studios

@Ventilator

Yeah, it figures. Google are desperate with Stadia being stagnated, so now they give stuff away. They are on their last leg with the service, but it was pretty much dead on arrival anyway.

Streaming games is nota big deal on any system, so I couldn't care less if Shield TV streams stuff better than Switch. I can't see it will ever be a big business. And btw, Google is known for quitting, Nintendo is known for keeping their support och service up and running looong time, even with systems like Wii U. Nintendo has their good reputation they put great care too, Google on the other hand got a pretty bad track record.

lol, you talk about lying and then you make a completely false claim about "a few million new users".
Sorry mister, they gained a few thousand new users, they are probably on the whole year-basis on a negative growth, more players leaves their service than new players comes in. Google are now starting to do a quite shut down of Stadia, starting with killing the in-house game studios. And no, it won't grow due to free Bomberman lol

Im simple just not interested in getting Stadia for Hitman 3, the service will be down within the year anyways, so such a purchase would be a bad deal.

Hitman 3 on Switch works OK. Im not hyping it or anything, Im not going to start buying cloud games on a regular basis, not on Switch, not on any system. The performance is due to the cloud service, which hardware its rendered on in the first place. Nothing wrong with Switch^^

Re: Cloud Gaming Service Google Stadia Shuts Down Internal Development Studios

@Ventilator

"Huge" increase for Stadia means it goes from zero growth to slightly more than zero growth. Now Google is officially killing the hope for future investments in the service by killing the idea of 1st party studios. Its finished, just accept that fact.

lol, you really think the service will live for having slightly less glitches in trainwreck-cyberpunk? hilarious, no one is even interested in that game anymore now that the overhype gone dead

Re: Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Gets A Quiet Re-Release On Switch, But With An Important Difference

RasandeRose

@Mr-Fuggles777

You're complaining about 10usd price difference with the game released on PS4 all the way back in 2015, with the Switch-version being a 1 year development time version
And a game released 2015 still goes for 49.99 on Playstation Store, I can't say that is in any way any better than the 2019 port goes for 59.99 on Switch

Games are generally very cheap these days. Im not getting ripped off, Im fully informed what the game costs on every system and Im simple just not concerned that Im paying 10 bucks more for playing it on Switch. If I was desperate to save money I would just buy all my games on PC, but I think its worth the extra money getting them on Switch

Re: Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Gets A Quiet Re-Release On Switch, But With An Important Difference

RasandeRose

@Mr-Fuggles777

So it does on Switch, it was on sale as late as in december. It's ridiculous how some people even today still argues that Nintendo games never goes on sale, they are on sale several times per year. And Switch uses cartridges, so can't really be compared to discs. PS4 doesn't really have physical releases, you can't play any game of the discs, they all have to be installed. So the extra price for cartridges comes with higher product value. At least as long as it's done like with Witcher 3 with the entire game on the cartridge.

Re: EU Calls For Investigation Into Switch Joy-Con Drift Following More Than 25,000 Complaints

RasandeRose

@71nk0

Less resistance to wear is a design problem. That said, I don't think its a design fault like the Xbox 360 were every single console malfunctioned. Joy con sticks seems to hold for everything from weeks to years. The basic problem is that the stick shares design with analog sliders like the ones on 3DS and PSP, which introduced a mechanical friction, which in turn will be worse the harder you push the stick, pretty much the same as a box of matches

Re: EU Calls For Investigation Into Switch Joy-Con Drift Following More Than 25,000 Complaints

RasandeRose

@Clyde_Radcliffe

Yes, most sticks are made by the same japanese company. Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony has basically used the same potentiometers for at least a couple of generations. That the miniature sticks used for Switch, PS Vita etc got about half the lifespan of full-size potentiometers from the same company is well known, documented in their product portfolio.

I don't think joy-con sticks breaks after 6 month by default. Drift is a common problem with all sticks, I just think the failure rate on the joy-cons is higher just because they are less resistant to harsh handling and therefor much more likely to break premature.

Re: Nintendo To Face Another Class Action Lawsuit For Switch "Joy-Con Drift"

RasandeRose

@sixrings

And so it should be, its exactly the same as the Xbox One controller...and the joy-cons are separate controllers, thats why you call them joy-cons not joy-con. What you do them personally makes no difference in any regards. Ofc. Microsoft got Xbox stuff on sale, they've got poor revenue for the Xbox while Switch is the fastest selling console ever...

Well, in my opinion Switch is one of the better quality consoles for quite some generations, with only the drift as mayor issue.

Re: Nintendo To Face Another Class Action Lawsuit For Switch "Joy-Con Drift"

RasandeRose

@sixrings

Yeah, it's not strange as the joy cons are actually two controllers loaded with tech. They can hardly be priced as an Xbox One controller which hasn't changed a bit since 360 and still missing the most expansive part of a controller, the battery. An original XB One controller on the other hand, shouldent be priced higher than mb 9.99

Re: Review: Hitman 3 - Cloud Version - Not Perfect, But Perfectly Playable

RasandeRose

@ErraticGamer

Its not the tech behind Stadia that is the problem, its the business model that will eventually bring it down. Its already struggling with a "growth" in users of almost zero. Its 10k new users a month, thats so low it could just as well be zero cause you can't make any money on those numbers. Sure, they will try giving stuff away for free now, desperate companies always lowers prices, it hardly ever works to get a long-term growth that way

The problem is and will always be that the service takes full charge for games that are locked to only be played in the cloud, that can't possible compete to services that brings cloud gaming as a complementary way of playing their PC-games.

To be fair, xCloud, Gforce Now etc doesn't have that many streaming users neither, which I would guess is because most people simple just don't want to play their games that way, which is bad news for Stadia too...

Re: Review: Hitman 3 - Cloud Version - Not Perfect, But Perfectly Playable

RasandeRose

@ErraticGamer

I think you're wrong, most are pointing at Stadia will probably go down as one of the biggest flop in the gaming industry. It actually seems to do far worse than Wii U did. It officially reached 1M users apr 2020. Then Google stopped sharing the numbers, but analysts points around 1.85M by the end of 2020, which is what it should grow every month, not by almost a whole year. If the hype and popularity doesn't go sky high for Stadia soon, it will reach around 6M users by 2024, and I cant see Google keeping the service live for those numbers, which is less than half of Wii U.

Sorry, but a service with a growth of 10-11k users per month isn't doing "just fine", its a disaster. No wonder you don't hear anything about Stadia no more, Google probably just wants people to forget all about it so they can take it down quiet, no questions asked.

Personally, I dont see the logic with buying a game on Stadia and be locked to only play on the cloud, when you just can buy the game on Steam and play it via gforce now if you need to play it on the cloud.

Re: Review: Hitman 3 - Cloud Version - Not Perfect, But Perfectly Playable

@TheDavyStar

That I know, but Nintendo has a deal with that company for bringing cloud service to Switch, in the same manner they had a deal with gamespy for the nintendo wi-fi connection. And i find Nintendo to be much more reliable than Google when it comes to keeping their services up and running for a reasonable time. And I also find it to be a minimal service to allow cross-plattform saves between Stadia and another bought copy of the game. The worst part with Stadia, you pay standard price for their games, then you pay extra for extra value with 4K, it doesn't make it a very cheap alternative to get a "next-gen" experience. With that said, I think Microsofts xCloud runs rings around Stadia any day. On Switch, its fair to say Nintendo doesn't aim to bring in a serious cloud service at this point, they are obviously testing the waters. But I can't count Stadia as a serious alternativ neither as they are like Nintendo "renting" their streaming games at full price. GamePass+icluded xcloud seems to be the only reasonable alternative.

Re: Review: Hitman 3 - Cloud Version - Not Perfect, But Perfectly Playable

RasandeRose

@dres

Id go for Nintendo any day over a Google Service. You never know if Google will shut down Stadia without further notification in a year or two. With Nintendo, sure their service will go down some day too, but with Nintendo's history, there's no way they will shut it down before something like year 2029. With Google, you never know, they hit the quit button for their services all the time.

Also, if you want a "next-gen" or just simple 4K- experience with Stadia, you will have to pay monthly anyway, so I hardly see their service as extra value. Switch might cap at 1080p, but it doesn't cost any extra and you wont need any extra hardware beside what you already have with your Switch.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying The Cloud Version Of Hitman 3 On Nintendo Switch?

RasandeRose

Actually bought it for Switch since I really want a new Hitman, haven't touched the series since blood money. Ive got 100/100 internet and my switch hooked by wire to my router (it tests to around 70mb download in the switch internet test).

Im not very impressed, and I will most probably not buy another cloud game after Im done with this game. Its noticable lag when aiming, making it harder to hit targets which is frustrating. Further more, it shuts down plenty of times and isn't exactly fast to boot, as you have to go to a web site to boot it, not like the "real" Switch games.

Further more, sound glitching plenty of times, and graphics should in my opinion be next-gen standard except resolution when played on cloud, but textures and stuff in this Switch version seems to be at PS4 quality.

Re: Frame Rate And Resolution For Monster Hunter Rise Demo Revealed

RasandeRose

Damn, I really want a Switch Pro this year.
Im in no need of 4K, but I do think that around 900p is the sweet spot when playing on the TV and not looking annoyingly low-res. Witcher 3 is looking kinda great on Switch too, but Id really want that extra clearity with going from ~720p to 900p or a full 1080p.

Re: Rumour: Datamine Apparently Reveals All About The New Nintendo Switch Revision

RasandeRose

@Menchi

I can't agree.
Its much dimmer than the Switch screen, which makes it worse to use in bright environments, plus it got oversaturated colors. Some mainstream folk thinks that higher contrast is always better no matter what cause it "pops out" more on still pics. In many cases I prefer balanced colors, and the Switch screen comes much closer to a somewhat well-calibrated TV-screen compared to PS Vita. Well, I can't say that Switch has a low quality screen, its a good IPS with balanced colors and better brightness compared to all the older handheld consoles.

Re: Our Switch Ports Will Keep Getting Better, Says Conversion Specialist Virtuos

RasandeRose

@WaveWitch

Chances Nintendo releases a standard console to compete with Xbox/Playstation again is like very close to 0%
And you hardly need 4K to make good graphics and picture quality on a 65 inch TV, its hardly worth it if you're not playing on 100+ inch projector or if you're sitting as close to your TV as you do to your computer monitor... If they do release a Pro Switch, it would be good enough if they manage to get 720p games up to 1080p. They might even do something like Series S and support 1440p upscaled to 4k in docked mode.
