Re: Video: Does The Switch Actually Feel 'Old' Yet?

@Ironcore

Well, on consoles, bare minimum accaptable will most likely stick to 30 fps the coming generation as well. I myself think it's totally fine in slower, non-competetive games. But no doubt about it, it would in some cases been nice with a Pro-console that could do online games like Fortnite and Apex at 60.

Re: Video: Does The Switch Actually Feel 'Old' Yet?

RasandeRose

No, not to me. Im having just a good time with my Switch now as back in 2017, and I haven't really noticed any significant development in the general gaming business since then that makes the Switch feel obsolete.

@Ironcore

30fps isn't even an obsolete standard, PS5 and Series X still gonna have plenty of 30fps games. "Can't play below 120fps" is in my experience more a thing among gamers who thinks playing any game on anything other than oon their 3000USD gaming-PC is a crappy experience.

Re: Best Of 2022: How Do Game Developers And Artists Feel About The Rise Of AI Art?

RasandeRose

AI art is basically the same thing as an un-talented person makes art by copying talented artists and just whopping it around for a bit at random. I think it's about as exciting as going on a vacation to Paris in Facebook Metavers.

It's actually kinda interesting. We today basically got all the tech available to pretty much do most of the the sci-fi stuff from the book/ movies from the 50's-80's...just to realize those times "fantasy-tech" just isn't exciting at all in real life...

Re: Soapbox: If You Thought Last Year Was "Sad" For Switch, 2023 Might Be Hard To Handle

RasandeRose

I think 2023-2024 gonna be the Golden Years of the Switch. The very last 1-2 years of it's life-span is beginning now, and with it comes the slow-burned developed highly-awaited games like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Advance Wars, more Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime etc. It's gonna be a great year for Switch-exclusives, so I personally don't care much if it dries up for real this year with third-party support.

Re: Borderlands 3 Has Been Rated For The Nintendo Switch

@Moistnado

Cloud games on Switch are not even running good, I wonder what server tech they're using, cause RE2 cloud version, which is the only cloud game I've tried on Switch, lags way worse than the PS4 native version.

That is, the times I even get to play it as they have a waiting list to play the cloud games. lol

Re: Video: Hogwarts Legacy Shows Off Magical New Gameplay Footage

RasandeRose

Why does it always has to be that disclaimer for a fairly harmless game??

Game looks decent, will be very interested to see how the switch port plays out, feels beforehand it will either be No man's sky "OK" or a blurry mess. But there's always that tiny chance of a "magic port" like Dying Light...

Re: Video: The Future Of Gaming Is Joy-Con Drift-Free

RasandeRose

I hope the whole industry moves towards Hall-Effect sticks the upcoming console generation. Not only to resolve the drift, which is not an Nintendo-exclusive problem, but also so we can finally get rid of or at least greatly reduce the dead zones for aiming.

With that in mind, I have personally only had drift on one single joy-con since 2017, which I fixed myself. So it has not been a mayor problem for me personally.

Re: Video: New Switch Hardware Won't Stop Bad Ports

RasandeRose

@Ade117

Makes sense.
I can't really get it how some still don't understand Switch is a handheld. You can't even get PS5 level of performance on a Steam Deck released 2022. Switch is outdated and they could ofc do a lot better hardware, but it will still need a lot of work to run current-gen console games, and it would still not match them in resolution and frame rates.

There is actually a harsh physical limit on how big a GPU can be on a mobile SoC, and how much performance it's possible to get out of 5-10 watt.

Re: Nvidia Employee Comment Confirms Chip Rumoured To Be Used In 'Switch Pro' Is Real

RasandeRose

@Timptation

Well, it still will need optimizations of games to work well. Many developers on PS4 and Xbox more or less skipped compression and left loads of bloat-assets/code and stuff in the games to save time.

There are lots of way's to make big games work on Switch, and on Switch 2, as long as they don't just try to push full-size PC games on there like on Steam Deck. It will just be as today, when Xbox and Playstation receives a new game, we Switch players get to wait 3-6 month or so for our release. I think it's worth that "trade off" to get good working portable versions.

Re: Witcher 3 Dev Admits He Overcrowded One Map With Too Many Points Of Interest

@moodycat

Nope, other way around. They shouldn't be afraid to let there be empty spaces in a open world game. It doesn't have to be stuff everywhere, there can just be beautiful spots to explore. In Botw 2, Id actually want to see a bit less wild animals and hidden seeds, hunting animals for meat and furs should include an actual hunt, not that you only have to move one meter into the woods to be overwhelmed by wildlife.
