Re: Talking Point: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

RasandeRose

"Oliver Munck of IGN Nordic had similar concerns, saying simply, "one single question about the Switch needs to be answered: Who is this console for?"

It's for folk who wants to play videogames...?
Interestingly, the journalists who predicted it's failure all comes back to graphics and call of duty...
Graphics has never been a mayor role in making a console a success. PS2 ran circles around the first Xbox, DS around PSP...etc. It's all about making a unique product that makes sense and has good marketing.

Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, 23rd September

RasandeRose

  • NSO news. Maybe a price increase with the rumored premium tier, including either Gameboy/Color or Nintendo 64. Personally, I would prefer Gamecube now that they have a working Gamecube-emulator software since Mario all stars.
  • Disco Elysium port showed, and released directly after the direct.

Re: Random: Apple's iPhone 13 Pro Max Has A Larger Battery Capacity Than The Nintendo Switch

RasandeRose

@Ajnin

Actually, yes, they are very efficient. But the development in the mobile integrated gpu department has not come far since tegra x1 "huge" gpu-modul. Even when the A14 runs it's GPU at peak 1,8Ghz, it only performes slightly higher graphics rendering than the X1. Anyway, iphones as "gaming" devices is still pretty much held back from console grade games by their lack of bigger gpu on the chip and active cooling. They just can't handle the load over time.

@Carck

Well, Ive got a fairly new iphone myself, they simple can't handle advanced console games. Sure, a mobile game without any physics and such can run, but rendering the weather effects and such of Botw, your iphone would melt. That example, you can really tell it's first and foremost a game meant to run on phones. They've crippled back the advanced stuff.

Re: Hardware Review: Can You Really "Make Your Own Switch Pro" With This $100 Dongle?

RasandeRose

I use the mCable gaming since a couple of years. No, obviously it doesn't make the Switch a "Pro", it simple helps clean up the raw image that's not have any sort of AA, like 100% of all the games from Nintendo themself. The only difference is really that you get rid of the rough staircase edges and some of the shimmer gets treated too. So basically you just pay a pretty big amount of money to get very basic AA added. I actually find it particularly good for Witcher 3 on Switch, where you can turn off that strong TAA that makes the whole game a blur, and then still get some basic AA that doesn't make the game blurry.

Re: Digital Foundry Explores The Potential Of 4K DLSS On A Next-Gen Switch

RasandeRose

@120frames-please

I could easy go for a 7-8 year generation with just a mild performance update, without 4K-resolutions or 120hz. Just to get stable 30/60 fps and more consistent resolutions, at least around 900-1080p minimum. And that Switch could reach 60fps in those cross-plattform competitive online- games. That would be just fine with me. I play PC at 1440p120 now and again, but I don't think 1080p60 feels out of date. It still looks sharp and plays just fine.

Bare minimum would be we at least could get rid of those sub-720p dynamic res and sub-30fps hick ups.

Re: Digital Foundry Explores The Potential Of 4K DLSS On A Next-Gen Switch

@60frames-please

I think price range is a pretty hard restriction on the specs. High-end gaming phones w 120Hz displays costs like twice the Switch price, and Still those glorious 120hz displays are Still mostly used only for browsing the phone UI...

Valve couldn't afford it att 399 neither. I dont see Nintendo going for something like 499 on next gen Switch.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Worried About Screen Burn-In With Switch OLED?

RasandeRose

I think it's pretty much a non-issue today.
Got my Oled-TV for 4 years and thousands of hours in use, zero burn-ins. Phone with samsung oled, 3 years and zero burn-ins. Some will ofc. get burn-ins and tech don't last forever. But I think its a decent trade, great contrasts and blacks and mb minimal to some burn-ins after 5-6 years of usage. Im totally OK with that.

Burn-ins on today's OLED:s is like a minimal problem compared to the problems we had with dead pixels on the LCD:s on PSP and NDS. Only a few will have big burn-ins.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Will Include Online Support

RasandeRose

@roadrunner343

Yea, the graphics is not pretty. But I do think 3D is the right direction anyway, it gives the battlefields some depth. And while the graphics isn't impressive by any means, it at least looks very clear in opposite to Tiny Metal with its overly-clottered graphics, were one can barerly distinguish between unit types. I think they did the right thing there with this remake. Would be neat if it got some modern post-process effects to stuff like rain, fog of war, explosions etc...

Re: Nintendo Confirms Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Will Include Online Support

RasandeRose

I don't like only 2 players online. Wargroove takes the online part in such a good way, with open-ended matches and up to 2vs2. I can just hope that it will at the very least be better than the "online support" in Days of ruin. That was a disgrace.

Furthermore, no mention of map editor.

I love the online system in Wargroove. So much settings, you can suspend a match and continue later on, you can get a disconnection, no problem. Only thing I miss in that game is no connection to the Switch last play with add-function and no way to communicate even by emois.

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

RasandeRose

lol, its not "blindly defending" corporations to come down on piracy/theft. The argument that Nintendo's pace in developing games or hardware fault with joy-con drift, somehow makes it OK to pirate their content, makes literally no sense at all. It would be a weak defence in court to argue that you did the right thing to steal in a store bcause you don't like their candy.

"Crime is OK cause I dont like the company anyways."

Grow up, teenage socialists

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

@CarlosM87

Well, you just told me I have the right to my opinions, but now you can't tolerate that my opinions cause you think it offends you? Make up your mind. I don't think Im more clever then the rest, I just pointed out that your reasoning is immature. That you find that offensive pretty much proves my point.

I don't love Nintendo, I care for their products as I enjoy them and grew up with them, I care what happens to my favorite brands in the foodmart too...And I do think it's a difference between doing honest and dishonest business. You don't have to play tough don't caring about anything, just further proves my point about your way of reasoning. You just need to grow up a bit

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

RasandeRose

@CarlosM87 Me, and many others, obviously cares what happens to Nintendo as we enjoy their products. You having the right to your opinion, I never claimed that you didn't, doesn't give your particular opinion any sense anyway. I don't see any logic in why it wouldn't be OK for a company to defend their legal rights against individuals. Yes, I have noticed you have some kind of kindergarten reasoning that a company shouldn't use its legal department (or something like that) against individuals. You think it should be a limit only one lawyer gets to work a case against one individual? lol, so ridiculous

Switch is a fairly sturdy piece of hardware at a low price point. I don't think Nintendo builds their consoles with built-in lifespan as certain phone manufacturers do. It survives a drop better than many phones and the components aren't made to lose performance over time.

lol, so you claim you are a gamer, but you don't care about games. Fair point.

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

RasandeRose

@CarlosM87

Is it a competition in having the most teen-socialist opinions? The civilized society works thanks to most people respects and upholds legal rights and the law in general. The good guys is the guys trying to uphold an honest business, no matter what you think their "piece of plastic" is worth, and us customers who will have to pay in the end cause some people take on themself the illegal "right" not to pay for products they choose to use anyways.

Re: Nintendo Scores Another Victory In Its War Against Switch Piracy

RasandeRose

@Mr-Fuggles777

I don't have a problem with people making money in fair and honest way. It's a difference between selling an unlicensed controller, that business model is not about making money of people illegally downloading games. In the same time, it is wrong selling accessories made for cheating in online competitive games. In the same logic, it's not wrong making money on collecting, but I do think ocher is wrong.
