Re: Witcher 3 Dev Admits He Overcrowded One Map With Too Many Points Of Interest

Nope, other way around. They shouldn't be afraid to let there be empty spaces in a open world game. It doesn't have to be stuff everywhere, there can just be beautiful spots to explore. In Botw 2, Id actually want to see a bit less wild animals and hidden seeds, hunting animals for meat and furs should include an actual hunt, not that you only have to move one meter into the woods to be overwhelmed by wildlife.

Re: "What Do I Care?" - Nintendo Hacking Mastermind Defiant As Colleague Bowser Is Jailed

lol, "pro-liberty", make money on other peoples work. I hope justice will catch up to this guy as well. You don't have to think of Nintendo as company of the year to realize how damaging these kinds of criminals are to the business. And yes, I think even non-violent criminals should go to jail if their crimes are seriouse. If someone broke into my home or stole my car, I would think it would be right to send them to jail as well.

And it's a big difference between a 15yo kid who download games illegally and a grown man who makes profits out of enabling piracy.

@ThomastheTankEngine

I actually think you're still totally unreasonable.

Your argument is still about 100% about the subscription service for the legacy games. It's a fair point, but you blow it up beyond all proportions to bash everything Nintendo does today, and does right with the Switch.

I mean, what is even this argument calling for?

"The Switch’s third party support relies on stealing PlayStation and Xbox games for the sake of portability."

If the Switch wouldn't receive any games that comes to Xbox and Playstation, I guess you would complain about that too?

"The only areas the Switch is really better than the Wii is its excellent form factor and gimmick, and the fact that its an HD console, which is expected with technology moving forward."

Well, you seem to base most of your argument on the ability to play legacy games. That is, to be fair, the only point I see in your argument.

"How about homebrew capabilities? This is more personal but Nintendo’s iron fist of control really annoys me and the Wii’s homebrew capabilities soundly trump the Switch which still can’t be hacked."

Switch got hacked back in 2017, right?

"Why shouldn’t I dislike Nintendo for failing not only where their competitors, Sony and Microsoft who allow purchases of classic games as well as backwards compatibility, but also fail in regards to their previous consoles?"

Interestingly, you still tend to ignore the facts about stuff like DRM and micro-transactions Nintendo's competitors been criticize for...but I guess that's only a negative if Nintendo does it? Or do you really only buy new game consoles to play legacy games, and it doesn't matter if you can't even play your new games because the servers for the DRM-checks are down? Or that Sony charges USD 60 for a single car in GT7? Why don't you, like, buy the original old consoles then if only the legacy games counts?

Man, you really don't like Nintendo

Re: Nintendo Switch Tops Hardware Sales In May's NPD Results

RasandeRose

@ThomastheTankEngine

lol, Nintendo does enforce DRM in said service NSO, they further more enforce DRM with second Switch-systems, like the Switch Lite often is to Switch-owners, but somehow they wouldn't know how to implement it otherwise? I simple think you pretty much just don't have any idea what you're talking about. Furthermore, they implement micro-trans in their mobile games, but not in their console games. Somehow, you mean they know how to charge for DLC-content, but they at the same time don't know how to charge for DLC-content? They don't have an online store in which they are able to charge for content?

It's pretty obvious to me they simple made the decision not to implement DRM it for offline-game content or micro-transactions simple out of the reason they wouldn't want the backlash, esp. as they aim their product for kids and families

You seem to be very anti-Nintendo, you really blow up the negatives about the company basically only based on their legacy content on the Switch...and somehow you even manage to get the positive sides of Nintendo to be negative because maybe they will implement the negatives in the future? lol, Nintendo really can't "win" any points in your point of view, you even criticize them for bad stuff other companies do but they don't

Re: Nintendo Switch Tops Hardware Sales In May's NPD Results

RasandeRose

@ThomastheTankEngine

I think it's actually way, way worse to release unfinished games or making new single player games unplayable even on ones main system when their servers are offline, than which particular service they use for 20 years old games.

In the end, I think NSO is an OK service, I think it should be more worrying that you actually can't play many new games on Xbox when they have a service malfunction. Nintendo killing game ownership?...umm, Nintendo is actually the one company that still prioritize physical releases and doesn't do DRM-checks with games you buy and play on your console. You only mentions their legacy content, but you totally ignore the DRM-checks on New games bcause then you can put Nintendo in a particular negative perspective while you ignore the fact that Nintendo is the only company that doesn't enforce DRM-checks on games you buy.

Obviously, Microsoft didn't do a 180-degree turn on game ownership. They just moved it a console generation forward and this time skipped the information about it to the consumers...

As I said, I would be more worried about new games I actually play than 20 yo games. At least, Nintendo is open and honest with how the system works. Nintendo can be criticized for a number of reasons, including NSO-service. But the fact is, Nintendo hasn't pulled a DRM-stunt like Microsoft or Sony have done (Gran Turismo 7), they also haven't done any micro-trans mess like, once again Sony with GT7. Im happy as long as Nintendo at least lets me play cartridge games offline and don't charge 60 USD for one additional kart in Mario kart.

Nintendo isn't a particular consumer-friendly company. But I don't think they are worse then their competitors. Some things they do better, some things they do worse.

Re: Nintendo Switch Tops Hardware Sales In May's NPD Results

RasandeRose

@ThomastheTankEngine

lol,
EA, Activision, Microsoft all pull way worse stunts than Nintendo does. Both EA and Activision, for example, releases one unfinished game after another. Not unfinished like just lacking some content at day one, but unfinished like being unplayable mess. Microsoft doubles prices on Gold for no reason, disabling offline play in single player etc. Nintendo isn't perfect in any way, but they haven't really done anything really bad towards consumers this generation.

Re: Feature: Handheld Face-Off - Nintendo Switch OLED Model Vs Steam Deck

RasandeRose

Switch for me feels like a much more complete product than the Deck. It includes the dock with very easy, intuitive dock-undock-ing, it boots super-fast, everything is easy to find in the menus cause there really isn't much to do in the said menus. All controllers and functions are included so you can with ease play Handheld, Docked, Table Top.

Deck on the other hand, messy Steam menus, slower boot, pretty much a gamble if the games will even work proper or boot up at all without the need of googling the internet after custom drivers etc.

It's pretty much just the regular console vs. PC situation, and as always, Im gaming on console.

Re: Back Page: Which Is The Best Controller Button, And What Does Your Pick Say About You?

RasandeRose

I thought this would be a topic about clicky vs. mushy buttons. Anyway, I prefer clicky ones as they are more reliable; you feel the 'click', then the game will register the click every time. Mushy buttons like the Pro Controller are no good, it happen relatively often that I don't press down the button right so the membran hits the conductive area, but you can't feel the difference if you hit the button right or wrong.

Re: Video: Switch Online Could Learn A Lot From Xbox Game Pass

RasandeRose

Nintendo are in a good place as it is already, I don't want anything from Gamepass or Xbox. The only thing Nintendo really needs to Switch online services is Voice Chat by system level instead of the phone app, text messages to friends and mb consider something in the style of street pass and Miiverse.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

RasandeRose

@jsty3105

Well, I think the 64GB model is pretty much pointless with high end-PC games in mind. 64GB+SDcards works fine for Switch as Nintendo and 3rd parties shrinks the size when they optimize their games for the platform+a huge part of the audience buy's physical games.

I think 256GB is pretty much minimum for a PC gaming console with no physical medium, render the Deck kinda expansive.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

RasandeRose

@hakjie11

Deck is aimed at the PC game library. Yeah, it's getting harder to distinguish between PC:s and consoles, but the Deck will hardly compete that much more with Switch than a laptop PC does, the same way desktop PC:s already have their more or less set market share, so does consoles. I don't think there will be any major contest between Switch and a PC-device, there are some but fairly few consumers who will fluctuate between consoles and PC. Nintendo has far more competition from PS5 and Xbox.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

RasandeRose

lol, Deck is roughly 70% bigger by square cm and 60% heavier. Yeah, not any significant difference at all... xD

It literally looks twice the Switch size in pics, it's almost like comparing a large smartphone to a tablet computer. The Deck is portable only compared to a large laptop, and me plus many more think it's just too bulky. The ones who doesn't think so, fine. But you don't have to deny the reality to try to deny us who think's it's to bulky our fair point.

Wonder how many PC-gamers would complain about that huge old-Switch style screen frame if the Deck were a Nintendo console and not something from Valve...

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

RasandeRose

@Mgalens

I don't think the transition to PS5 and X-Series will be that big of a problem. Sony and Microsoft are holding that evolution back themselves, PS4 and Xbox One will still be the base-line for most games for years to come, which makes the transition to Switch not that hard.

So far, most -if not all- Xbox Series and PS5 games only sports higher resolutions and framerates, the basic game designs remains compatible to lower-end devices like Xbox One and Switch. Hell, even the Xbox Series S is performance-wise more in line with Xbox One than Xbox Series X...

Microsoft wants Game Pass to work on everything. That means Xbox One will remain the base line for most of their games, maybe this entire generation. So far, this new generations of consoles has been all quality of life and resolutions, the sheer tech itself haven't done any major leap at all, all the games are made to scale down to last gen-level.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

RasandeRose

@Yorumi

No, it's nothing wrong with specifically my computer, it's compatibility issues within Windows and versions of Windows, and software issues related to Steam, and thats the point with me saying Im not interested in a Steam-computer device, Im a console player. It's in other words universal problems within playing on PC and Steam. You're denying what everyone knows about Steam and playing on PC. It won't get you any points to deny the reality for what it is.
