My only complaint (I'm somewhere in the middle of act 3) would be that Team Cherry sacrificed Hollow Knight's well-knit compactness for a much grander adventure - so large, in fact, that quite a few important points of interest can be missed purely out of forgetfulness. Only by meticulously marking the map (or consulting online communities) one can experience everything the game has to offer in a manner (seemingly) intended by the developers. I would like to see this changed in future updates, either have the quest boards also feature tips on things a player might have missed or just have an NPC somewhere sharing rumors to guide towards hidden paths and characters.
@Dee123 If I had to guess, the licenses simply went with the apps (not calling these 'games', sorry). And after some time Scopely will have to refresh the licenses, most likely under new conditions - unless there were clauses present forcing renegotiations immediately after a sale.
I see comments questioning the logic behind sharing this story. I see it this way: This news, '1500$ for a complete set of cards in Pokémon TCG', will circulate the internet and people who thought they'd need to fork up mere couple hundred to achieve this will get discouraged and spend the money on something else instead.
@The_DuckWitch 'The gaming is slowly dying because a console dedicated exclusively to playing video games only approaches sales numbers of a DVD player that also had an option to play games' is a very interesting take, not gonna lie.
@brunojenso They go too far (in case of Yuzu waaaay too far) in promotion of easy piracy for the sake of financial gains. Simple as that. Genuine efforts for game preservation would be much slower and not profitable at all (not to mention: humble), but some just can't accept that.
Oh man, if Yuzu devs indeed have given all the info on the users they've been collecting in the background, the whole situation might get much, much more interesting. https://twitter.com/HikikomoriMedia/status/1764894963194597458 It would explain why they settled for 'mere' 2.4 mil, too.
Citra going down alongside Yuzu is the proof that the second most powerful force working against game preservation (after video game companies) are emulator developers themselves - or rather their greed and hubris.
So it's a remix situation, which just happens to coincide with the game going multiplatform. Huh. Almost guaranteed that I'll pick this up, but might try to sell the original game in a month or two.
It's such a simple concept I'm surprised other popular series didn't go with this instead/alongside of Arena Fighters.
I know I'd play a Chainsaw Man-themed Mario Party knock-off if it was weird enough.
Shifting focus of Legends of Runeterra from PvP to PvE will be interesting. I hope the downsized dev team will be able to bounce back. Loss of Riot Forge is regrettable.
Seems pretty clear they already knew about Switchtoo being in the works when they started with P3R - maybe because some other team might be working on a Switchtoo exclusive SMT game.
It's not exactly true that Gamefreak never cared about their competitors. The one time we saw some actual groundbreaking changes to the Pokémon formula was in Sun/Moon due to Yokai Watch, which at the time was on the track to steal Pokémon's thunder in Japan. However, YW didn't last long enough to keep Gamefreak on their toes (not to mention its middling performance in the west), so eventually Pokémon went back to just doing the same thing over and over again with minor tweaks.
I have no clue how balancing process works out in Unite, but in any other game people would complain about Magikarp being easy picking while simultaneously bashing Gyarados for being too strong - from that point the devs would embark on a neverending quest to bring the two forms closer to each other power-wise in a series of small steps.
@johnvboy I'm sorry, but you're just projecting, since I'm completely indifferent to Gamefreak's approach at this point (if anything, I'm a bit envious they can put so little effort and still make so much money). Plus, 'voting with your wallet' famously never worked with Pokémon. Fans will just be fans - finding excuses to tolerate mediocrity is part of the deal.
Here's a great advice for you specifically: Learn to live with the fact that not everyone is going to unconditionally like the thing you like. Just let it go.
Guys, what's the point of complaining about these games? No one will listen and even if your cries miraculously reached anyone, nothing would change because Pokémon's formula of releasing only mediocre products clearly pays off.
This article made me pull out my old DS with Japanese cartridge of Pokémon Pinball R&S - still works and now I might spend the last few days of August playing it. Would be cool if we got a new version of the game, but I'm pretty sure TPC has pulled the plug on all non-mobile Pokémon spin-offs.
I'm guessing this 'slow and steady, irregular release schedule' talk regarding Pokémon games came up only because Switch successor may very well come out next year and everyone will be asking 'Where Pokémon?'
Haven't been following Pokémon closely for a long while, but all these Ancient Paradox designs look to me very random - as if the designers were urged to roll dice on body type/major characteristics before deciding what the general look would be.
I'm sorry, but no matter how cute/wholesome/full of references Mario movie was, Illumination is objectively a force working AGAINST recognizing animation as "the purest form of art".
People in the comments focus on "it's a silly amount of money" and "it's no wonder in this economy", but completely omit the grade 7 Illustrator Pikachu that apparently sold for 900k last year.
With how much of a flop this new auction turned out to be, I wonder just how many people were involved in inflating the worth of that card last time. Especially considering that the same card with grade 9 was sold for 195k in 2019.
I will forever have a soft spot for Yo-Kai Watch for proving how stagnant Pokémon became (back in 2016), so I will welcome with open hands English localisation of YW4 or a new project.
I'm probably in the minority, but I'm glad they just went with more of the same instead of desperately trying to come up with something completely different. Early stages of buidling franchises should focus on fine-tuning, in my opinion.
@Serpenterror I've been thinking for a while if Sony would try to keep up the arms race against Xbox. Not to mention their own race of releasing a new system with next to no games for the first few years. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony started to hype up potential PS6 only to sell the brand.
Not surprising, considering how devs may be waiting for the Switch successor and optimisation for weaker systems is an art that is completely foreign to many devs.
@victordamazio Being "superior" and "not perfect" are not exclusive statements, though. Option A can be better than option B despite the flaws. Also, the arcade cabinet argument seems to support the physical side.
Just 99%'d the game yesterday (can't be bothered with NG+ exclusive stuff) and the list looks solid. My tweaks: 1. Makoto Niijima 2. Kasumi Yoshizawa 3. Futaba Sakura 4. Ann Takamaki 5. Yusuke Kitagawa 6. Haru Okumura 7. Hero / Joker 8. Ryuji Sakamoto 15. Morgana 30. Goro Akechi
@TheSilverShroud I can't speak for the rest, but Switch is pretty much the last system actually doing physical releases, so I prefer to get anything significant in that form. On top of that, P3 and P4 are older games that were on sale on other systems already (and have been easy to emulate for years), so in exchange for a relatively high price tag I'd like to at least have an option to sell the games in the future, if I so desire.
I've been playing P5R recently (I'm on November the 20th) and it's very much a "style first, substance second" kind of a game when compared to SMT proper. Without some greater improvements to P3 and P4 (not to mention physical releases) I will most likely pass.
