I'm disappointed this looks less like Soul Hackers and more like Persona with some Cyber Sleuth vibes.
Either Switch port is coming later or someone really wants this to not sell in Japan.
Graphics and game lenght are by far less important than gameplay, but they're the factors dictating how much I'm willing to spend on a game. If your product is graphically lagging behind or it's really short, I won't pay more than 25 bucks for it, regardless how fun the gameplay may be, because I can get plenty of fun games for even less than that.
@Xellen That scenario sounds more cumbersome than difficult.
Why did Gamefreak drop multi-battles in the first place? It really seemed like they nailed them in gen 5. I was really hopeful when they came up with rotation and triple battles and now, years later, the series is back to the same old 1v1.
@VoidofLight Let's not compare walking around and throwing Pokeballs with fighting giant monsters using a wide variety of weapons. "Gameplay loop" is about "gameplay" and not just "loop".
@moodycat Actual physical releases are dead on everything that's not Nintendo, right? It seems obvious that devs who can just push any file size on the customers to deal with will have no incentive to keep them small. But once that stuff has to fit on a cartridge, it turns out compression is actually doable.
@RR529 To be fair, there are many manga artists who specialize in collaborations like this (especially in the Corocoro magazine). A good artist can make something nice even out of simple designs.
Thank goodness people are learning from their mistakes, so they exert some self-restraint and don't let their impulsiveness decide what they should or shouldn't play.
"See that Pokemon? You can walk to it and catch it." I stopped caring about Pokemon a while ago, but I'm curious what kind of gameplay loop Arceus will offer, because at this point I just don't see what's supposed to keep you playing.
Honestly, this year looks to me way worse than the previous one. Pokemon, Zelda, Splatoon, Metroid and Mario Rabbids do not interest me in the slightest. I'll probably use it to catch up on some titles I didn't have time to play.
@Fizza That's how you make good video games. You take a basic idea (what you called a "generic premise") and build upon it, while polishing all the elements. Many fail at executing that, because they try to add too much without properly fleshing out the core.
I really don't care about anyone's personal list, but when a top list from the NL staff as a whole has ports/remakes and DLC of all things over some major Switch titles, it just doesn't paint a pretty picture. I should probably look for a different Nintendo-oriented news website.
You might be laughing how bad most of these look (and rightfully so), but realistically, with so many Pokemon already in existence, it's only a matter of time before designers at Gamefreak feed images to AI, so they have millions to go through and get inspired or maybe even cherry pick a few.
@mr-duster It's not even about budget or anything like that, it's an industry standard at this point and takes away from the experience, as voice acting builds the game's atmosphere. Imagine Animal Crossing without their silly gibberish language or Xenoblade Chronicles without any voices. Music, as mentioned before me, just seems chaotic.
@Anti-Matter As someone who have played both the original Pokemon DP and Yokai Watch 1-3, I'll tell you that these systems aren't even remotely comparable (team fights vs 1v1). You couldn't really break YW and get your team super overleveled until later stages of these games, but in Pokemon shared EXP results in a snowball effect where the beginning will be easy and anything beyond the mid-point will be auto-win.
@wanghosom One is a remaster trilogy released as one entity and the other is a single remake released as two separate entities. Relation between these two things seems tangential at best.
Legends of Runeterra is super free to play, so even if I wanted, I just can't shoot down all LoL-related video game projects on the basis of LoL itself being objectively bad.
These have been a thing for a while and all the free items, money and experience ones were usually pretty useless anyway. I'll probably bite this time and get the DLC with Demifiend and Cleopatra.
Lacking features of the 3rd version of the original games from all those years ago and adopting an artstyle reminiscent of mobile apps should automatically disqualify this from having a full Switch game price point, but D&P on DS were first Pokemon games for a ton of people, so I understand that the fanbase driven by nostalgia will eat this up and ask for seconds.
@Dr_Corndog Nice try, such a word doesn't exist in Polish language.
If a popular comic series with a character whose name in Polish sounds like "cunnilingus" (but more vulgar) wasn't banned, I doubt anything you can find in a game on Nintendo systems could qualify for a ban in Poland. We do have laws protecting people from "damage to religious feelings", though.
Well, there's that infamous anime called "Training with Hinako" and I think recently there was some series about girls hitting gym, so Fitness Boxing receiving an anime adaptation doesn't surprise me all that much. Also, nowadays so many series have simulcast I'm sure this will be picked up as well, if only for the novelty factor.
@tadams587 Trust me, you don't want extra content before the post-game, because even without that there's plenty to do during the game's campaign. 65 hours in and I still haven't seen the end credits, although I tend to play jRPGs at my own pace.
Yes, they are addressing bugs in that update.
It's pretty amusing to see the same defence of your typical P2W tactics that have been around for at least a decade just because the game does not offer a literal "I win" button to paying players. But hey, if you want to die on a hill defending a Tencent game to please your Chinese overlords, no one can stop you.
It's one hell of a start for a F2P title when pretty much everyone agrees spending money gives you a noticeable advantage. You're supposed to lure in players with generous rewards for playing regularly and then slowly introduce more and more items/mechanics/etc. so free players will begin to struggle and feel more inclined to open up their wallets. I can already tell that despite desperate efforts of some content creators, Unite won't have a lasting presence.
@Xeacons Is that so? Setting aside the fact that Netflix itself doesn't really produce anything, I'd say that Transformers is far from ruined despite the mediocre WfC Series and Godzilla S. P. is easily the best anime the franchise ever had. But I guess Pokemon has to be a pretty weak IP if Netflix will ruin it just like that.
Good luck moving that product for highly inflated prices when even Nintendo themselves openly stated there's no reason to upgrade if you're fine with your current Switch.
Everyone's bashing MHS2 for not running flawlessly just to drive the point of Switch absolutely "needing" a pro version, but when the next Zelda title comes out (action game, not a turn-based one) and it has its own technical issues, it will be all hunky-dory.
@moodycat I get you, but also I know for a fact there's a good bunch of people who will say they like JRPGs and monster catching, but instead of getting these two will pick both versions of the DP remake (and quite possibly a few months later they will complain about the remake being underwhelming).
It's beyond me how anyone could be excited for these remakes in a year with MH Stories 2 and SMTV, but I get that breaking Pokemon addiction can be hard for some.

@Troll_Decimator Gatekeeping much?
Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Arceus - One Of The Greatest Pokémon Games Ever Made
@Xellen That "extra layer of strategy" was already present in Pokemon games, though. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is quite an old series at this point.

Either LEGO is really bad at tailoring sets for adult collectors or they're offering incredibly overpriced sets on purpose to see what will stick.
