It would be nice if the series got more recognition. I could see this happening with Playstation-oriented media portraying YW4 as "the real monster catching game" in opposition to Pokemon on Switch (which would be actually true), but I'm not holding my breath.
While I love the original, the new artwork (specifically for the new classes) sticks out way too much and gives the game that cheap look of F2P mobile apps. I'm sure to grab it on the Switch eventually, but will probably stick to the old content.
I've had the 3DS version until recently, but just couldn't stand knowing it's an objectively inferior version and sold it without really playing it. Pleased to see that I will be able to enjoy the game in its full glory on Switch. Now port of X seems to be only a matter of time.
Expected some information about SMT V, but got TMS#FE for Switch, which I knew would come eventually, instead. Can't really complain, but at least tone down all that censorship, Nintendo.
@Trajan "if you're commenting on a video game website, you're a gamer." - if you want to use the term in a broad sense, then merely tapping on your phone's screen in the rythm of whatever free app you have downloaded constitutes as gaming, and the original post was about people "loving", i.e. being very passionate about, video games.
Yes, I meant PSN and no, for better or worse, Switch's online service is not even close. You may also want to check the relationship between Sony and a little thing called Fate Grand/Order, a dream come true for video game companies not interested in making actual video games.
All the bad practices by Nintendo were forced by consumers used to bad practices by other companies.
@Trajan Never said that I'm a gamer, though. I like video games, but have other hobbies and things to attend to. I've briefly considered a PS4 a few years ago, but if there's one thing that will ever make me drop video games altogether, it would be games as service business model, pushed by the likes of Sony.
This is going to be the first Switch game with a retail physical release that I will get digitally and most likely on a significant discount. With most of the package being a download, I just don't see the point and there are too many games to play at this time of the year anyway.
@Mr_Muscle I meant that if someone is being anxious about getting a Switch while already owning a PS4, there is no need to because Nintendo's system is going to see support for a longer time than PS4. I don't get what ancient systems have to do with the topic at hand.
@Trickson Have you made an account half an hour ago just to damage control on this topic? People complaining about exclusives have been a thing for a very long time.
I hope everyone asking for Switch games to come to PS4 will show the same fervour in demanding PS5 games to be available on PS4.
Just buy the Switch already, it's going to stay around for much longer than PS4 anyway. People may say that they won't be buying a system for one game, but the pile of those games is already so big that not owning a Switch can be perceived as a severe hit for anyone genuinely loving video games. Personally, I'm perfectly fine with owning just a single platform because I don't even have enough time to play everything on Switch I wanted, let alone games on other systems.
@LinkSword I'd say that Blackbeard had a fair amount of made-up moves, but they were reasonably extrapolated from what he did show in the story. Whitebeard had a couple of big moves and that's it, which I don't think actually reflected his fighting style. Shanks is more of a joke character in that aspect. Big Mom has shown so much they could even split her into two separate characters (full & slim).
Wasn't this game supposed to also feature playable Donquixote Pirates? That was a crazy bunch I'd like to see again.
I've realized it just now, but we'll finally be getting an Emperor of the Seas with an actual moveset. All (active) Sweet Generals being playable would be cool as well.
Gamexplain uploaded today a video saying it's not an action-oriented game like Bayonetta, with focus on fighting and combos, instead being considerably slower and having much more down-time between fights spent on puzzles, and I'm really glad to hear that, because Bayonetta's gameplay didn't click with me too much. Looking forward to it.
I find it funny in the context od Keyforge, where if you don't know the language of your opponent's cards, It's your problem. I know It's a different situation, but nevertheless.
@Doktor-Mandrake I don't have enough patience and there are other games to be played; I'm having so much more fun with MUA3 and its expansion pass deal is much more fair. I played online only on the weekends when the coin multiplier was 10x, since frankly, CTR is not balanced around 8 players. Items really should have been tweaked in relation to the original game, but they're somehow worse. Masks and turbos in the first place, warp balls in the second place, missiles missing half of the time, bombs rolling randomly, so on and so forth. Now that there's even more cosmetics to miss if I don't devote a good amount of time to the game and I know that Activision will incentivise buying coins with real money, all my enthusiasm has been drained.
I'm done with the game. I'll turn it on one last time to pick up the Grand Prix prize and won't touch it unless one of my friends wants to play it. The Pit Stop already was awful, the last character I wanted appeared only once during the whole month, but I didn't have enough coins to purchase it then. With the sheer amount of cosmetics in the rotation, I can see people being forced to spend coins on things they don't want in order to unclog the store. Not even playable Spyro in September is worth it.
It sucks, but I've passed the breaking point already. Half of my Switch games is in some way incomplete without DLC/free updates/patches/online and Nintendo games are on that list as well, so that's not a good enough reason to skip Spyro.
Still waiting for NL to start reporting on all those MCU-related news, because we got Switch-exclusive MUA3 published by Nintendo. You don't want to miss those clicks, right?
@Knuckles This hasn't been the case for years, since he would report on fake news and treat real bits of information as fake. Not to mention that the site's interface is stuck in 2007. You're better off using social media for that.
I never liked Sapkowski's books, they're written in style and genre that are not for me (I got to experience them many years before CDPR's first game was even a thing), but criticism for following the books instead of games is just silly.
Also, call me once we get games based on Lem's books - now that's good literature.
I don't think anyone expected free characters to be added to the game alongside the paid DLC ones, but that's really cool and maybe will be enough to appease some disgruntled fans.
I've just got notification that the game is ready for pick-up today (expected it on monday) AND we'll be getting additional characters via free updates - two great MUA3-related news on the same day.
I cannot be the only one slightly baffled that a site based around video games by a Japanese company is unable to properly report on news, unless they're already available in English, right?
I'm not surprised. CTR:NF is fun, but inferior in the key areas to MK8D. Superficial customisation of racers pales in comparison with actual game mode and vehicle customisation, and Adventure mode is interesting only for a very short while. If it wasn't for seasonal challenges and rewards, player attendance on all platforms would be much, much lower, since online gameplay is very imbalanced and doesn't really promote competitive play (also, as far as I know, the Grand Prix numbers are people who played the game while online; on Switch only 1/3 of that number actually participated in an online race). And I'm saying this as someone who loved the original CTR.
My copy won't be arriving until monday, but on the weekend I'll be spending some quality time on board games with friends anyway, so It's not that great a loss. Going to ask them to pick my MUA3 team, so I'm expecting some unusual choices.
I'm getting flashbacks of stuff that used to be released on DS. Here's a fun trivia: tarot cards can actually be used in psychology as a therapeutic tool for self-reflection.
@PBandSmelly You associate One Piece first and foremost with violence and cleavage? Do you even know what it is? Setting aside people with weird priorities, I'd play a monster catching game using Oda's designs.
@Galenmereth I didn't really expect such an insightful comment from someone who not only defended Gamefreak, but also insulted other users to the point of being warned by the NL staff. Glad to see that people are capable of changing their views when exposed to facts!
@Timsworld2 I wouldn't really assume it's Marvel making these decisions - the most likely scenario is that they're just the original IP holder and may use the game to promote the upcoming movies a little bit with release of DLC characters coinciding with new trailers/announcements. To play the devil's advocate, It's possible that story content in these packs is actually additional episodes for the story mode and getting only one, or all out of order, would disturb the storyline and that's why they're in a budle, despite being released separately.
I honestly cannot imagine bringing YW1 to the Switch, it's such a 3DS game all-around, actually using all of the system's features, the bottom screen alone probably to a greater extent than, let's say, all Pokemon games combined. Maybe it's just a mistake.
@tdub154420 I've already bought the game, but cutting content for the sake of selling it separately down the line is never okay. I'm not ruling out a possibility that the DLC content will be developed only after release and sold as such because Nintendo has invested good money into the project, though.
That's really stupid and I'm not surprised people choose to pass on the game entirely because of that.
If the base game is good enough, new content is interesting and we get Moon Knight, Sentry and Doctor Doom as DLC characters, I'll most likely go against my principles and waste money on the season pass.
@Gzeus88 Don't bother. With Switch Lite being a thing, Nintendo could sell soundtrack from Yoshi's New Island in boxes labelled "Pokemon Sword/Shield" and on the day of release you'd still have an army of consumers claiming how great it is and something about "haters" being "salty". The emperor has no clothes and some people need to realize that on their own terms.

That doesn't bode well for Switch games and players. This is sending a very loud message: "we want more remakes, not new stuff."

Weird Level 5 did not come up with some fancy name. Guess this is what's going to be released in the west as YW4 in the first place.

@GetShulked Hopefully as paid DLC, so Europeans don't need to pitch in for something they don't need.

I'm surprised to see that since the original release there were no new classes added. That's actually pretty sad for a hack'n'slash.
