Re: Hideki Kamiya Slaps Down Demands For Nintendo Switch Exclusive Astral Chain On PS4

Preposterous

@Trajan "if you're commenting on a video game website, you're a gamer." - if you want to use the term in a broad sense, then merely tapping on your phone's screen in the rythm of whatever free app you have downloaded constitutes as gaming, and the original post was about people "loving", i.e. being very passionate about, video games.

Yes, I meant PSN and no, for better or worse, Switch's online service is not even close.
You may also want to check the relationship between Sony and a little thing called Fate Grand/Order, a dream come true for video game companies not interested in making actual video games.

All the bad practices by Nintendo were forced by consumers used to bad practices by other companies.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Slaps Down Demands For Nintendo Switch Exclusive Astral Chain On PS4

Preposterous

Just buy the Switch already, it's going to stay around for much longer than PS4 anyway. People may say that they won't be buying a system for one game, but the pile of those games is already so big that not owning a Switch can be perceived as a severe hit for anyone genuinely loving video games.
Personally, I'm perfectly fine with owning just a single platform because I don't even have enough time to play everything on Switch I wanted, let alone games on other systems.

Re: Video: Check Out The Explosive Fights Awaiting The Straw Hats In One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

Preposterous

@LinkSword I'd say that Blackbeard had a fair amount of made-up moves, but they were reasonably extrapolated from what he did show in the story. Whitebeard had a couple of big moves and that's it, which I don't think actually reflected his fighting style. Shanks is more of a joke character in that aspect. Big Mom has shown so much they could even split her into two separate characters (full & slim).

Wasn't this game supposed to also feature playable Donquixote Pirates? That was a crazy bunch I'd like to see again.

Re: Crash Team Racing Will Soon Allow Players To Buy Wumpa Coins With Real Money

Preposterous

@Doktor-Mandrake I don't have enough patience and there are other games to be played; I'm having so much more fun with MUA3 and its expansion pass deal is much more fair.
I played online only on the weekends when the coin multiplier was 10x, since frankly, CTR is not balanced around 8 players. Items really should have been tweaked in relation to the original game, but they're somehow worse. Masks and turbos in the first place, warp balls in the second place, missiles missing half of the time, bombs rolling randomly, so on and so forth.
Now that there's even more cosmetics to miss if I don't devote a good amount of time to the game and I know that Activision will incentivise buying coins with real money, all my enthusiasm has been drained.

Re: Crash Team Racing Will Soon Allow Players To Buy Wumpa Coins With Real Money

Preposterous

I'm done with the game. I'll turn it on one last time to pick up the Grand Prix prize and won't touch it unless one of my friends wants to play it. The Pit Stop already was awful, the last character I wanted appeared only once during the whole month, but I didn't have enough coins to purchase it then. With the sheer amount of cosmetics in the rotation, I can see people being forced to spend coins on things they don't want in order to unclog the store. Not even playable Spyro in September is worth it.

Re: Don't Expect Netflix's Witcher Show To Copy The Video Games

Preposterous

I never liked Sapkowski's books, they're written in style and genre that are not for me (I got to experience them many years before CDPR's first game was even a thing), but criticism for following the books instead of games is just silly.

Also, call me once we get games based on Lem's books - now that's good literature.

Re: Crash Team Racing Online Leaderboards Reveal The Amount Of Connected Players Per Platform

Preposterous

I'm not surprised. CTR:NF is fun, but inferior in the key areas to MK8D. Superficial customisation of racers pales in comparison with actual game mode and vehicle customisation, and Adventure mode is interesting only for a very short while. If it wasn't for seasonal challenges and rewards, player attendance on all platforms would be much, much lower, since online gameplay is very imbalanced and doesn't really promote competitive play (also, as far as I know, the Grand Prix numbers are people who played the game while online; on Switch only 1/3 of that number actually participated in an online race). And I'm saying this as someone who loved the original CTR.

Re: The DLC Packs For Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Won't Be Sold Individually

Preposterous

@Timsworld2 I wouldn't really assume it's Marvel making these decisions - the most likely scenario is that they're just the original IP holder and may use the game to promote the upcoming movies a little bit with release of DLC characters coinciding with new trailers/announcements.
To play the devil's advocate, It's possible that story content in these packs is actually additional episodes for the story mode and getting only one, or all out of order, would disturb the storyline and that's why they're in a budle, despite being released separately.
