Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Preposterous

@Frailbay30 Yeah, and as perfectly fine that one instance may be, there's a slippery slope to piracy.

You start with that one Gamecube game that is incredibly expensive second hand and you're not even sure if the disc is in good condition. Then you move on to something actually easy to find and relatively inexpensive, but it has below 70 points on Metacritic. After that there's a remake of a game you own the old version of, so why should you spend money the second time? Next on the menu is a game with some performance issues, you don't want to spend your hard earned money on that. After that you pirate a new game telling yourself you'll buy it later, but you don't because you need to fix your car or a dental emergency came up. You're motivated to buy the next one after trying it out, but then you have to buy that new multiplayer-only game your friends want to try out and you have already finished the other game. Then you pirate a new game because you've seen online some REALLY compelling evidence how it runs a bit better on an emulator (you couldn't tell the difference on your own, but why should you settle for less?). And finally you just pirate everything and come up with excuses afterwards. Nintendo is too greedy. Nintento is not greedy enough (where's my new [insert name of an old Nintendo franchise here]?). This one game is a total mess, so now I can pirate everything else from that company. Chris Pratt is cast as Mario in the Mario movie. My favourite childhood game is not available on Switch online. Someone told me the devs are scummy and I found that convenient, and so on.

While I appreciate how reasonable piracy can save games from being gone forever, that's not how majority of piracy works and only very few people can actually stick to their standards of what's "okay" to pirate.

Re: Video Game YouTuber Dunkey Launches His Own Indie Publishing Company

Preposterous

@Ensemen The funny thing is he could have supported indie creators without launching a publishing company. He could have joined an existing company and give them money, he could have tried becoming a producer and there's a number of other options where he would have supported others while gainining experience from people who actually do these things for a living. Instead he chose the path of a publisher without having anything to show for it, because this way his name will be on the forefront from the get go.
Dunkey's fanbase is really making this situation much uglier than it has to be.

Re: EA Reportedly Pursuing Sale Or Merger

Preposterous

@ModdedInkling Man, people really should stop looking down at FIFA (game) fans like that. I don't like the series personally, but all my friends that enjoy(ed) it would have no trouble figuring out the name change.

Re: EA Reportedly Pursuing Sale Or Merger

Preposterous

@GrailUK They didn't lose the franchise, just had to rename the series because FIFA was asking for more money in exchange for using their name. Unless FIFA fans are really dumb, not much should be changing for EA in that department.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

Preposterous

@Ventilator I'll tell you what, I'm no strager to lifting heavy objects as well and my ancestors literally ate vikings for breakfast, but sometimes, after a long day at work, Switch begins to feel heavy in my hands and I have to play with joycons detached (it's good to have options like that). I kinda doubt that your average PC user will be able to hold Steam Deck for very long.
