@8bit-Man In a time of endless remakes and reboots, I fully understand you, but at the same time it can be a lot of fun to replay a game with updated graphics. But I also have to admit there's something to playing the originals. I'm just glad there's multiple options for everyone!
That would be great! I sincerely hope Capcom will bring RE4R to Switch 2 as well. I'm currently replaying RE4 and having an absolute blast with it, but I yearn for the remakes we missed and am glad we are getting lots of RE love in February. A bit too late for a Bloody Valentine.
Just skipped through the video. I don't really see much issue, but advertising this openly was perhaps a stupid idea to begin with. You don't really want to expose ideas like this in a game that's meant for everyone, kids included...
Perhaps what's more of an issue is the fact that kids are allowed to play online in the first place. But that's another discussion altogether.
Wow, what a resurgence for Animal Crossing! I certainly did not expect it to be that high, seeing as it already sold record numbers and there's very little reason to get the Switch 2 version if you already own the original. I bought the upgrade for 5 Euros and have played a little. I'm not entirely sure if I will be back at it as much as I had during the pandemic, when it was all brand new. The hotel feature is nice, but hasn't really convinced me to go back to my island on a daily basis.
I guess it's mostly down to how many of my friends will play again and whether or not my wife wants to get back at it, too.
I agree with the sentiment in the article that the online narrative surrounding the game coloured my experience a little, too. But for me Metroid Prime 4 was my game of the year. I loved every bit of it and even Sol Valley grew on me later on. There were some gripes I had with the story, but otherwise, it was a fun experience.
I understand all of the criticism the game gets and I think it's deserved, too. But in all honesty there was no way this game could have met expectations after such a long development time.
I'm gonna get that bundle with RE7 and 8 and I'll get the Pro Controller too, since I've been itching to get one for my Switch 2, but I wanted non-standard skin one. Can't wait, I'm very excited to play these games!
@ElkinFencer10 Sad to hear about the dating scene. Gaming is often vilified as something that is not mature. But to this I say there's a big difference in allowing your inner child to exist and being a responsible adult and men who are actual men-children. I is hard to explain, though...
My wife didn't like the fact that I am a gamer at first, either. But she quickly saw that Nintendo games are a whole lot different from the games most of her exes played. Which were mostly the toxic kind of men, which ruin it for us all and make gaming get a negative connotation.
Nintendominance, once again! Very impressive numbers and like @Hwatt said, very nice to see Kirby surpass DK. I think Kirby is more popular than the good ol' ape, in Japan. But still, it's so nice to see this latest outing of Kirby do so well!
This is a bit how I fancy to imagine myself when I'm old. Just an old geezer who loves video games and telling the young whippersnappers how we played games "back in my day".
I love to see how Kevin Afghani treats Charles with respect, but then again, he deserves nothing less. Charles Martinet is such a wonderful, heartwarming man! You can't not love him for everything he's done for Mario and the gaming industry and still does as ambassador for Nintendo!
To be honest, I think it's a bit weird that the movies and games now have different voice actors. I'm not a big fan of Chris Pratt's version, but hey, that's another discussion.
@TheRazor Fair enough. But it's basically as Alec Baldwin in Team America says during his speech: "The corporations are there, being all corporationy. And they make money."
@Rykdrew Hahaha, maybe I should put something to similar effect in my will, too! The fun thing is that if you finish one save file, you can do two more!
Co-op is a lot of fun, I sometimes play with one of my besties and we both love the game, but it's definitely not easier by any means!
I will wait for the Switch 2 Edition, but I plan on revisiting my dusty, weed-invested island this weekend! My wife will probably want to check up on her island full of cat villagers too, haha!
@Rykdrew Your wife has excellent taste in games, I too am still enjoying The Binding of Isaac Repentance! It's always cool to see a fellow die-hard of the game, hahaha!
Who says those other publishers don't get flack, huh? But yeah, generally speaking you don't want to bite the hand that feeds you. Still, this just goes to show how many Yes-men there are in the business.
I am bummed out for the people who get layed off, don't get me wrong, but Ubisoft is really heading down the drain due to corporate greed, if you ask me.
I'm a big fan of Voyager, but this game is not for me, I think. The combat looks convoluted and a tad boring. Also, Daedalic also made that horrible Gollum game, so I have little faith in this scoring good in reviews. But who knows?
Definitely going to give this a watch. I'm currently replaying the OG Resident Evil 4 on Switch 2 and having a blast, although it is frustrating at times with a lot of cheap deaths.
Gonna put this OST on today while working from home! I haven't played the game yet, so I'm hoping to be surprised. I'll take some of the earlier comments into consideration, but knowing they are biased, I'll try to ignore them as much as possible, so I can form my own opinion on how good the OST is.
Glad to see Metroid Prime 4 higher than last week. I think the game deserves it, even with all the (valid) criticism surrounding it. I had a really good time with it, safe for the green crystals farming and still not 100% items because I got insanely bored with it.
@Kalcheus @Bobb , I think treating your fanbase like this by basically punishing early adopters and then re-releasing a game for full price is a d*ck move. If it were DLC it would be another story.
Whatever it is, I'll wait a couple of years until there's a definitive edition of the game. I really don't like how Atlus treats their die hard fans and I don't intend to fall for the same trap!
But my biggest wish would be a new game, instead of a remake/remaster. We need more original content, not regurgitated stuff from days of yore, if you ask me.
@obijuankanoobie sad to hear the FOMO. I have bought all Nintendo consoles/handhelds day one since the GameCube/Game Boy Advance era. I also don't experience that the Switch 2 has "no games" , but that is mostly because I was able to bring my backlog over from the OG Switch, haha. Still, I think there's plenty on offer, it's just not for everyone. Give it a year or two and you'll probably be glad you got one!
@Robot99 Agreed, it is not unprecedented that hardware is sold "at a loss" so they can make money on the software. This has been the case many times in history. To be honest, I don't think much profit is made per hardware unit sold, anyway. It has always been the software that has the big margins.
Ugh, I sincerely hope the AI bubble will burst sooner, rather than later. Their Pac-man-esque gobbling up of supposed consumer goods is getting out of hand. Prices are already getting out of hand globally, the last thing we need is making hobbies like gaming too expensive for everyone to enjoy.
@Duncanballs I finished the demo last Saturday. I LOVED everything about it. I think this will be my first DQ game I'll play, since it's a stand-alone entry. After that I think I'll get the remakes of the first trilogy.
@Don One of my biggest wishes for the 30 year anniverary of Pokémon is that we can finally play the classics on Switch (2). Let's hope it'll become reality!
Wow, I can't even imagine how to beat Emerald in such a short time. Definitely going to watch the replay. And great to see they managed to raise so much money. This event went a bit under my radar, but next time I might be inclined to donate and follow the live streams more.
Glad to hear that you were able to play the game due to being able to remap the controls. I think it's really weird that inclusion of remapping is an exception, rather than the rule. As a game developer I'd want anyone to be able to enjoy the game. Especially knowing not everyone can play with the regular mapping. It's so weird that especially a company like Nintendo doesn't have this as a standard!
Looking forward to more info. Personally it seemed like it's not for me. Seeing as the additions are mostly aimed at gamechat and multiplayer. But if the upgrade isn't too costly and there's more worlds added, I might bite.
