Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th April)

Hello fellow Nintendo Lifers! We don't have any appointments this weekend, so I should be able to squeeze in some game time! Last week I finally 100% Tears of the Kingdom! Took me well over 200 hours, but I finally did it! I loved the game, even if it has its flaws. I definitely hope the next mainline game will be a bit more traditional and less big. It didn't really help in the end, I think.

What I'm currently playing:

  • Donkey Kong Bananza: Just got the Elephant Bananza
  • Pokopia: Still in the first area. I feel like I am not quite done here, yet.
  • Resident Evil Requiem: Finished my 3rd playthrough and unlocked unlimited ammo. Planning to do a speedrun on casual now, with unlimited ammo.
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake

I think I will finish FF VII first now, before delving into another JRPG. Probably Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Happy gaming everyone!

And people are saying that games are unaffordable these days. There's so many gems and if you're on the lookout, you can get many games for a tenner or less during sales! Looking at my Deku Deals I saved myself thousands of euros by simply shopping smart. But these games listed here deserve being bought at full price, if only to support indie studios for their excellent work!

Re: Talking Point: Which Zelda Game Would You Most Like To See Remade?

Pillowpants

For me, it's A Link to the Past. It was the first Zelda game I owned and still play every year around X-mas, because nostalgia. Everybody always talks about how Ocarina of Time was peak Zelda and while I agree that the game is one of the greatest of all time, the very same can be said for A Link to the Past. Except that A Link to the Past still looks great today! There's just something about the 16-bit pixel esthetics that ages extremely well. I'm afraid the same cannot be said for the low poly models of the N64 era.

Re: UK Charts: Mario Galaxy Jumps Up The Rankings Thanks To A Big-Screen Boost

My biggest gripe with the movie was the lore bit with Rosalina and Peach. I really don't understand why they had to make that change and why there's any reason for it. But I guess that's on Miyamoto san and not caring about lore consistency in the Mario verse in the first place.

Glad to see the games got a sales boost from it, too!

Also happy to see Resident Evil Requiem still soaring the list. I am almost done with my 3rd playthrough. I can't wait for the content updates in May!

Hello fellow Nintendo Lifers! This weekend I'm celebrating my birthday with my closest friends, so I'm fairly sure we'll be playing some Jackbox games somewhere in the evening, if everyone fancies a couple of rounds!

Since it's a long weekend for me, because of Easter, I'll be continuing these games:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (98% overall completion) I'm very close to discovering every nook and cranny of the map. Most of what's left is focussed on the sky islands. I'm also chipping away at the quest log quite nicely!
  • Pokopia: Still in the first area, but I really want to focus on restoring it before moving on. I only play in short bursts, by doing the daily challenges and some requests. I don't want to get bored fast of this game.
  • Resident Evil Requiem: I'm in Raccoon City with Leon, visiting an old, but familiar locale. This is my third playthrough and I'm getting all the documents and Mr. Raccoon bobbleheads this time around. I should be able to unlock unlimited ammo after this run. Which I need for my speedrun achievement. And to cheese the hardest difficulty. I will probably replay that one properly at some point, but I'm focussing on getting all the achievements for now.
  • Kirby Air Riders - Just doing some daily races and getting some achievements. I got this game from my wife for my birthday.
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade: I'm on chapter 18, or something. I haven't played in a bit. But intend to later this weekend.

There's more games I am currently playing. I am close to mastering Super Mario Land 2 with Retro Achievements, which is a really fun and challenging way to play the game. I am also playing a modded version called Super Mario Land 2 DX, which is basically a Game Boy Color release and it's so much more fun replaying this game in colour for the first time!

Happy gaming everyone!

Re: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Is Already Breaking Box Office Records

Pillowpants

I really loved it. What was the most fun thing for me was not just the movie but all of the adults (including me) who got the Yoshi popcorn bucket. It really made me smile 😃

I think critics really don't understand that movies like this are just not meant to be analysed. They're fun popcorn flicks that you enjoy with your brain turned onto a low level. Basically like a rollercoaster. It'll be over before you know it! That was my experience anyway. And I rate the movie a solid 5 out of 7!

Re: PS5 Gets An Insane Price Increase – Will Nintendo Follow Suit?

Pillowpants

@IOI Not as inevitable as you think. I believe Nintendo is sitting on more money, so they can probably afford to sell at the current price for a bit longer. They're going to up the ante with a lot of big new games to make up for it, though. The new Mario and Zelda games need to be released sooner, rather than later.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Have Kept The Mario Galaxy Movie Fox Reveal Under Wraps?

Pillowpants

Looking at the comments on the article, and ignoring the ones accusing us of spoilers (if you genuinely think that covering a character on a movie poster is a spoiler, maybe it's time for a brisk, refreshing walk - just whatever you do, don't walk past a cinema. Or a train station. Or a bus stop...), the sentiment from fans seems to be one of confusion. Why would Nintendo not save this reveal for the movie proper?

Was this really necessary NL? Come on... Don't insult your readers, please. Everybody has a right to their opinion, even if you disagree with it.

Re: Resident Evil Requiem Adds Photo Mode In New Game Update For Switch 2

Pillowpants

That's great! I don't know if I'll be using it much, but it's great to see Capcom chipping away at this gem of a game. I can't wait for the update in May that hopefully adds Mercenaries mode. Until then I will continue my 3rd playthrough to unlock some more stuff. I have to say that I really missed replaying games that reward you for it. I should be unlocking unlimited guns ammo after this third run!
