@DennyCrane Just beat Raven Beak, what a fight! I also got 100% items. Some of them are the antithesis of fun to get, but I am satisfied that I managed to finally finish this great game!

Took me a couple of tries before I was able to reach phase 2 of the fight, but the third seemed pretty easy in comparison. Also loved everything story wise. What a game!

I recently found out reaching Rank S ain't so bad, so I'm definitely going to go for it! Even though I don't particularly enjoy online play.

Last week I finished Metroid Prime 4 on normal. And I finally finished Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, which was a lot of fun! So I'm picking up on some other backlog games. This is what I'll be playing this weekend:

• Metroid Dread: 87% items, all upgrades, almost at the final boss
• Pokémon Legends Z-A:
  Main Missions: 19/42
  Side Missions: 69/203
  Pokédex: 122 caught 173 seen
  Research Level: 28/50
• Tears of the Kingdom: 62% overall progression
• Pikmin 1: 17/30 Ship Parts

And if there's some time left over, I'll probably start Donkey Kong Bananza!

2026 is going to be lit! Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Mario Tennis, Resident Evil Requiem + Village and 8. Monster Hunter Stories 3, Final Fantasy VII remake, Tomodachi Life, Pokopia... the list just goes on with games I'd love to play!

But I agree, you need to be careful in choosing which companies you want to share this kind of stuff with!

Happy to see Nintendo doing this in January, when the previous year is actually over! I understand the need to look back, but wouldn't it just be great if all these things and awards were in January, when nothing of any other significance happens, anyway?

@Anti-Matter That still doesn't invalidate my earlier comment. There are plenty of people who want this and there will be people who don't, like you. I don't see the point in being against this, when you don't have any control over it, anyway.

I hope there will be a boxing game themed to something to your liking, but hating on this just "because you don't like it" seems a bit childish to me.

I think this year might just become the year I splash into Splatoon. If there's a Switch 2 version coming, and otherwise Raiders will be my first foray into the series.

Really curious what we're going to see coming up next. Whenever there's a Pokémon Direct, I don't expect much. I just really hope they'll finally bring the classic games to NSO or just sell them to us for a tenner with the ability to use Pokémon Home.

There's a great start of the year with the Animal Crossing update and the S2 edition. And I'm so looking forward to the Resident Evil games coming in February! I'm considering getting the bundle with the pro controller and amiibo.

And then there's the FF7 remake coming as well as DQ7. It's as if Xmas was late, haha. Really looking forward to spending time on my Switch 2 this year!

I put some games on my Switch eShop wishlist, but the vast majority are on Deku Deals, because they know a lot better when a good deal is around. Especially, physically, of course. But I do love going through the wishlist and seeing what's on sale, looking to see if there are any bargains and hoping some of my most anticipated games finally go on sale. Also, when I see how much money I saved on my entire collection, it kind of makes me proud, too. And Deku Deals just scratches that itch of me being a penny pinching Dutch guy the best. I want deals and I want them to be really good!

Well, he was barely visible, so I won't miss him much. Not unlike Reggie, who was an industry legend. I hope the new CEO will be more visible, once again!

Why would you want a printable cover if it's the exact same thing as the retail version, including that very ugly blurb of text at the bottom. I really HATE everything about the Switch 2 version cover arts. They could have just added that text to the back, no?

I finished MP4 last weekend and although I didn't really care much for Sol Valley, it kinda grew on me later. But trying to get all the green energy is NOT fun at all... I definitely had my gripes with the game, but still rate it a 9. It looks and plays fantastic on Switch 2!

I was definitely not expecting Trails to be on #1 at time of writing this comment. I guess I have to get it now, as a JRPG enthousiast!

Sorry to see you go, Felix, but wish you all the best in your future endeavours! I'm also so glad Alex is staying! He's been one of my main reasons for checking Nintendo Life since I discovered the YouTube channel, haha!

Besides all that's been said in the comments about the timeline, my biggest gripe with MP4 is that everyone speaks, except Samus. I know she's supposed to be a silent type protagonist, but not a single word is just so odd! She had dialogue before, so why does it have to be like this?

Definitely going to get this down the line. It looks so much fun!

And as is tradition with Nintendo, timelines really don't matter all that much. Personally, I don't really care. As said in the article, MP4 is pretty much its own thing and that's fine. I don't really get the obsession with timelines. Especially the Zelda one, which is one big convoluted mess. 🥲

All I know is that there will be a new Fire Emblem game next year and that's probably going to be my game of the year. Otherwise I'm just hoping to be surprised in good ways. Hopefully Nintendo will address the Game Key Card issues a bit by releasing smaller sized Game Cards, but I'm really not that bothered anymore.

Seeing as I'm currently replaying all the games, it would be awesome if there will be a Switch 2 version of 3 as well. Although it would be weird, considering 4 would be much more deservering of one.

I just want turn-based combat again, or at the minimum ATB. I really didn't like real-time battles all that much in a FF game.

It's a shame that this is a Ubisoft game, so it's a hard pass for me. The art style is definitely not as good as Dead Cells, either. Hopefully the next game from this studio won't be a Ubisoft game, either.

I am afraid I have not contributed to the 10 million. But I will contribute to the next million, promise! These games have been on my wishlist for ages and a friend of mine invited me to play them together. Can't wait!

Lucky for those who managed to snatch it for that price! What a shame it wasn't in Europe, haha! I would have been all over it!

Excellent! But I'll wait and see if there will be yet another version.

What an American thing to do. God forbid there's some nudity somewhere, but we can never have enough guns and ammo!

What a great year! There's definitely some hidden gems left for me to explore, including UFO50, which has been on my wishlist for some time.

Looks good! I'm still amazed how well EA Sports FC is performing, but Nintendo is definitely going out with a bang at the end of the year!

That's pretty cool. But if they're really so important to Miyamoto, why isn't there a Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4 yet?

@mlt It was a great time! I always love replaying these games around this time. Still makes me feel like a little kid. And I still get excited when I get video games for X-mas from my loved ones.

I love these stories! They're so wholesome! Back in those days, the manuals were actually full of tips, screen shots and possibly even a map! Lovely times and sorely missed nowadays.

I was reminiscing this morning about my X-mas 1993 when I got a SNES with Super Mario All-Stars and Zelda. I might have skipped school back then, too, to play video games every now and then.

Well that's certainly hopeful! It will make physical collection a bigger joy!

Really shouldn't do game of the year until January, if you ask me. It's so stupid to do things of the year when the year isn't even properly finished...

The Pixel Art is so ugly on the NA version. My vote goes to Japan. It captures the game's essence best.

Truly appalling how they just released it in this state. A 10 year old game performing like this on modern hardware is a huge shame.

Oh look, another game I won't buy. Didn't hear much positive things about this game and I dunno, I have little faith in Bethesda after they botched porting a 10 year old game to a new piece of hardware.

The text for the first Cast and Chill seems to be the one for the A-train one: You are the president of a railroad company. Lay tracks, run trains, and experience building your very own city! The theme of this work is “tourism.” Develop tourist routes from distant cities and aim to create a bustling tourist city filled with people.

Nothing for me this week, either. I've got my hands full with PL:ZA, TotK and a re-run of Resident Evil 4, as well as finishing Metroid Prime 4. So my weekend is going to be full.

@whmchrish I am one of those weirdos who has a single friend who is interested in playing this co-op with me.

But I agree, it is refreshing to see them supporting the game for as long as they have thus far!

This is one amongst many JRPGs that I'd love to get into, but just can't seem to find the time to... Glad to see they're doing so well!
