Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Kirby Air Riders?

Pillowpants

I don't have the game yet, but my estimate is 8/10. Although I hope it to be one point higher once I have a copy. I'm holding out because I put it on my Yule wishlist. My only caveat is that I am not too big on racing games in general, and this game is, well, a pure racing game, haha. But seeing as it has so much content and challenges, I'm sure I'll be spending lots of hours trying to beat the challenges same as I did in Smash Bros.

Re: Ongoing MicroSD Shortages Could Have A Knock-On Effect For Switch 2 Storage Availability

@ROMhaiku While that is definitely an option, convenience and laziness also play a role here. People don't want to redownload games, in this day and age of "readily available" stuff.

Personally, I will probably take a little while before I get an upgrade for my storage space, but with increasing game sizes for S2 it is not really a luxury to upgrade to a 1TB card, if you ask me. But it is a costly one and one that could have possibly been avoided if Nintendo didn't introduce the Game Key Cards for the system.

Re: UK Charts: Kirby Air Riders Narrowly Misses Out On A Top Ten Spot

Oof... That's not really a great start for the pink puff ball. I realize that the game is incredibly niche, but at the same time, I'm more excited for this than I was for Mario Kart World. Hopefully the game will still sell well enough. I expect the Japanese charts to be quite different from the UK ones.

I can't wait to get started on Air Riders myself, when I finally get the game somewhere around the holidays!

The biggest, most "greedy" move is that Nintendo made storage space a problem for the consumer, by offering Game Key Cards as a new option for publishers. I really hate these practices where companies shove everything our way and make it "our problem".

I bought a 256Gb memory card for my Switch 2 alongside the console itself. I should be good for the time being, but Final Fantasy Remake and all of the Resident Evil games releasing next year will eat a considerable chunk of my available storage space before I need to invest in more. I can't say I'm looking forward to spending more money for my hobby when it really shouldn't have to be that way. But here we are.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd November)

Pillowpants

I won't have too much time to play this weekend, seeing as I'm going to a whisky tasting evening with friends. But here's a short overview of my progress and the games I will probably play this weekend:

  • Super Mario Galaxy - Finished Mario Mode, unlocked Luigi mode, but parked the game for now.
  • Metroid Dread - Started a new playthrough and beat two EMMIs so far.
  • The Binding of Isaac: Repentance - Still no luck and a lot of skill issues on getting the final 3 completion marks for The Lost, so I'm still stuck on 14/17 marks
  • Tears of the Kingdom : 51% overall completion
  • Pikmin 1 : Didn't play last week, but intend to finally. Still on 19/30 ship parts.

Happy gaming everyone!

Re: 50 Best Super Nintendo (SNES) Games Of All Time

Pillowpants

It's kind of weird to me that Nintendo peaked so hard at the start of the SNES's lifespan that Super Mario World is the best the good ol' SNES has to offer. And I wholeheartedly agree. Followed closely by A Link to the Past, which is still one of my favourite Zeldas of all time.

Can't say I remember this game being mentioned, but I am glad they are opting for a later release date. It's always best to delay a game to polish it than to give in to demands and release it early and full of bugs. I know a couple of studios and publishers who could learn a thing or two from this!

Re: Sakurai Is Keen To Live An "Unassuming Life", Despite His Fame And Prestige

Pillowpants

@BenAV Agreed. I think that's why I don't enjoy a lot of games from Ubisoft and EA, for instance. They just make games that appeal to the public, instead of making something truly unique.

Indies and games like these are what I enjoy most. Offering something unique and something the creators wanted to make, rather than had to make for shareholder's sake.

Re: UK Charts: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Slips Out Of The Top Ten

The Musou games just aren't as popular as the mainline Zelda ones. Which is a bit sad, but also not surprising. I can't wait to start the game once I 100% TotK (currently at 50%). The rest of the top 10 doesn't seem to have shifted much, with the addition of CoD on #1, of course. Which doesn't surprise me at all. I just can't stand those kinds of shooter games myself. But that's why I'm mostly a Nintendo gamer, I guess
